hello,
just want to know if theres a fully working project butter rom? i.e tripple buffering, vsync, etc etc
ive used both galaxy nexus and nexus s... and theres a huge difference in ui performance..
im new to this forum and number of roms available is huge and its difficult to try out all the roms..so just want to know if theres a rom with fully implemented project butter......
you sure it doesn't have anything to do with the extra 200Mhz or 512mb RAM??
i'm currently running bb7 and it's pretty smooth/fast... RasbeanJelly was hands down the best experience i had with a ROM on this phone... it just lacks some features i want and bb7 has them and does a fine job too...
I'm sure there's an app on the Store who gives the phone another core, can't remember the name now though...

...are you serious? I'd give you an answer, but it's way too damn easy to find out for yourself that I'm gonna let you do that. I believe in you!

Sure it is possible, but why? With JB and a nice kernel mine is so damn fast I just want to slow it down a bit and enjoy the battery.
I know how to do it.. It's really easy! I'm over clocking now...
My question is for those who have bump up there speed, have you notice a big difference in performance, battery drain, or your phone running a little warmer when using it quite a bit..
Those of us who have a galaxy Nexus know that battery life sucks! And performance can be questionable at times. I was just looking for opinions on the pros and cons of over clocking from people who have been running it longer than me...

It strikes me as a bad idea. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus cdma phone gets plenty hot and sucks plenty of juice without overclocking, even though I keep LTE turned off. It's also a very snappy (and stable) performer with stock 4.04.
Every chip is different, so you're going to find that your experiences might not necessarily be like ours. Some folks have OCed to 1.8ghz for the hell of it, whereas I could pull off no where near that with mine. That being said, I've stopped overclocking altogether as, especially with jellybean, my phone is already pretty damn fast.
I appreciate all your input. I'll probably set it back to interactive and back to a cap of 1200.. I've just noticed now that I have my JB all set up. I've found it to be a little chunky at times. Going into Google now, and some times using the voice input..
I'm surrounded by ios lovers and I'm a huge Android guy and I really want to show them up with the performance of JB, so I don't have to hear them ***** about how chunky android can be..
I'm sure it all has to do with the JB build I I've loaded..
Again thank you for your time..

No way why would I do that.

Okay so i have a nexus 10 and as most of you already know it is a fast tablet, but it is still kinda slow, in quadrant standard i could somtimes get it to bench above the one x. so i was wondering if you guys would tell me what i need to do to up its performance. I'm running cyanogen mod 10.1, i was thinking about going to paranoid or AOKP, but im not sure how well they do performance wise. I also want the rom to be pretty customizable also, im not sure what ''using a differant kernal'' means....or how to do it. Any help is appreciated

The AOKP PUB ROM for the nexus 10 has been great! There are tons of customization options as well. I have installed the Franco kernel and find the tablet to be much more responsive. This kernel is easy to install too, there is an app in the play store that let's you automatically flash the kernel to your device.
Thanks, so all I have to do is install the app....Im new to this and are one of those worried people who dont want to end up with a really nice $500 paperweight if you know what I'm saying?

Yes, I am interested also, I really enoy my nexus 10, but you can never get too much performance!
So I have the US version and I've had it for a while (about a month) and I'm really disappointed with the performance. Scroll lags, the notification shade pulls down smoother on a galaxy player (that has less than 500mb of ram and is single core) and the 3d gaming performance is laggy. Like GTA3 should be able to run on max settings! Just disappointed and expected more.

OK? Why post this? Why not just get a new phone? Have you tried any other ROMs?

I played Tactics Ogre on my phone and Dead Trigger with no problems. Plus with most ROMs I don't encounter the same lag you have experience.
Maybe Powersave mode is on...

Sorry, the rest got cut out for some reason. I was asking if anyone else had this problem.
And a new phone is not an option. My family is on forclosure on the house right now so I might just cancel my data plan and use this as like an iPod.

Idk man, I've not had much lag at all. I've been rooted since the day I got it of course, so I've been running custom ROMs for a while.

Try flashing Cyanogen Mod from the original android section. General ui is much snappier and it doesn't have game lag like all the 4.1.2 TW ROMs.
Samsung really dropped the ball with the 4.1.2 updates. A phone this powerful should not lag playing temple run.

I get some lag while playing ingress and minecraft. Kinda annoying but it's better than my old phone and I hope my next is better than this one.

Are you running it stock? Phone runs great with custom stock ROMs & Kernals, but everyone has their own opinions. The games i've played ive not have any lag, but i'm running a custom kernal and ROM. That probably has is the difference, but i'm not overclocked.
well there's only two things that are certain in this world.... no tech device is ever perfect and taxes always increase.
If you expect anything different you will always be disappointed.
That being said, I had ANdroid phones since the HTC Eris and they keep improving. S3 is really nice, maybe the best of this generation, but its not perfect.
Lots of people are looking for infinite gaming speed + infinite battery life... well the two don't go together. There are always trade-off. speed vs. power, vs. size, vs. cost.
Oh and by the way, multi-core is mostly a marketing gimmick. The GPU does most of the graphics work and most apps are not multi-threaded, so a fast single core beats a slower multi-core every time. It's cheaper to make a slow multi-core processor than to make a faster single core.
I also noticed lag on the device which i put off was caused by Touch Wiz. I confirmed this when i finally rooted and started trying different ROMs.
The lag is there in all TW ROM's for me; however if you really want to stick with TW, the smoothest running TW ROM I've tried so far is Goodness. That is what i'm currently using. I don't experience lag during gaming or Apps though even with touch wiz... so might be just your phone.
However, if you can do without touchwiz, the AOSP ROMs are like butter and i experience no lag at all. At least the 4.2.2 ROMS. I've tried Liquidsmooth, paranoid android, Pac-man and Chameleon.
Crazy I'm 100 % stock and my phone runs awesome! I don't do much gaming so I can't chime in on that but I don't have lag at all like you describe. Do you have a live wallpaper installed??

I've tried a lot of the TW based ROM, Synergy, Hyperdrive , others and all the well developed one's run great for me. I don't see any lag. I also tried CM10 and no noticeable difference, I think a lot of the comment are caused by placebo effec, some people just hate OEM stufft. Also people will load up their home screens with 3000 widgets and say wow this phone / rom sucks, LOL m Then they load some new ROM with no widgets yet and go, wow this is really smooth....... until they load 3000 widgets and it sucks again. Hey , there really is a limit to performance on any phone.
hi guys, this community is great! i bought an s4 one year ago and it's a great phone! however i 've my i9003 too and it works great after all these years! i'm using the i9003 for running and i wanted to know what's the better rom for music and runtastic... i don't need many home pages, just one, but i want the fast and fluid rom for this phone... thanks to all , you are great
If you want flawless functionality use the qwerty ROM based on 4.1.2 . if you want cutting edge and still great functionality, use the latest cm11 build by Dhiru. Note, however that qwerty is hugely optimised by overclocking both CPU & GPU, so it's very fluid.

I am presently on 6.5.6.1. It lags a lot. Miui is very heavy. Too much bloatware and system apps. Too less free RAM. I was wondering could any of the devs working on cyanogenmod or and other devs could come up or port a lighter and more snappy ROM for mi4i. I think cm will take time so is there any way of getting a better ROM earlier? Also are dev ROMs any better than these inbuilt global ROMs? Will they provide a better experience?

This is niche phone, it doesn't have as broad a following as Samsung, LG or HTC. You'll just have to wait. To answer your question, yes a custom ROM will be better in regards to memory as MIUI has some of the worst RAM managing I've ever seen. Damn this phone chugs through it's memory. MIUI is just too heavy.. And they still talk about how the Lollipop build is still new.. So.. In terms of responsiveness, I'd say Cyanogen or any AOSP rom is worth waiting for as MIUI is heavy and 8 cores in itself doesn't make the device fast, you can have all the cores in the world, but if they were all clocked at like 1GHz the simplest tasks would still be slow. These cores are not the fastest, so running MIUI on them is just a bad idea from the get go. Granted I hoped source code would have been released earlier, but now that Cyanogen is being tested, all there's left to do is wait. And yes, it can ONLY get better.
MIUI is **** anyways. Just putting it out there. ^^ - Sorry if that offends, but it is. I bought this phone for the price and to see if it runs AOSP well, if it does, it's a win. If not, I'll sell it again and go buy a phone that actually runs as if it's 2014/15.. Meaning that at least I can open Google Play Music without counting to 5 before it goes from minimized to ready on my screen, lol. How embarrassing. Cyanogen all the way. Light and smooth.. MIUI is everything wrong with bloated stock roms. ^^ This turned into a rant, lul.
