Okay, I couldn't find an answer I was looking for anywhere else; I'll try and keep it brief:
I am new to android. I rooted my Straight talk Galaxy SII with cyanogen mod 10.1, and everything went fine with it, no problems so far.
I introduced my friends to the wonders of rooting, and feeling unconfident in his own abilities, he gave me his Verizon Galaxy SIII for the night for me to root for him.
In short, I messed it up and now every time I try to turn it on or enter recovery mode, it gives me a yellow triangle, and says "Verizon has identified software on your device that is not approved, please bring it in to your Verizon store for help." or something along those lines.
I am done trying to root it now, because I do not want to mess anything up and just want to get it back to 100% factory stock so I don't have to pay for a new $700 phone....I tried following this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030 ) guide to reset the phone, but the link to the Root66.tar is not available anymore because Mega Share is gone, and when I downloaded the torrent, and tried to extract it with 7-zip, 7zip tells me into can't enter the archive.
I was wondering if anyone knew of that file located somewhere else where I can grab it myself (I already googled it) or if anyone has a better, simpler alternative to get this phone to factory stock?
I can still get into download mode, by the way, I just can't get to the home screen, or boot into recovery mode.
ANY help is greatly appreciated, I have already chewed off all my fingernails and am quite scared I completely trashed the phone. I don't plan on messing with any of this anymore after this.
Lol you'll be fine. You're seeing this warning because you didn't unlock the bootloader depending on how you rooted the phone. Use Droidstyle's guide in the dev section and Odin flash stock image of either VRALG1 or VRBLK3. It formats /sdcard btw.

Anyone know of, or or have a link to a factory rom (hell any rom would do at this point) that I would be able to flash with the stock S3 recovery? Just trying to unbrick my phone. Story of what happened below:
I'm running stock 4.1.1 rooted touchwiz. I wake up this morning to a notification saying I had an update on my phone. Should have definitely waited but without thinking I went ahead and updated, which of course soft bricks? The phone. (boots up, and but hangs at the 4Glte, flash screen)normally this would be an easy fix, I could Odin back to stock or something but I'm down in Mississippi till Monday for training and do not have access to my pc.
I can access the factory recovery on the phone but that's it, have no clue where CWM is. I've tried flashing some backups but the factory recovery says that it's not a signed package or whatever. Anyone have any idea how I can get this sucker booted up and running using just an android tablet?
What about reflashing CWM so I can access my backups? Could I somehow flash CWM with factory recovery?:

first of all you can't flash anything on a stock recovery hence the need of a custom recovery. Second you don't accept the OTA when rooted as it can cause the exact issue that you have. Last there isn't a way to fix your problem via another android device that I know of.
U are going to need a pc and then u will need to download Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1165122&d=1340993443 and u can get the official software from here on XDA http://hotfile.com/dl/182822657/9f6...WBLK3_381038_REV09_user_low_ship.tar.md5.html this is the 4.1.1 software. Here is a link to some official pre rooted software http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436 all of these software's you can install though Odin just look up here on XDA on how to use Odin and you will be fine once your phone is up and running again then you will need to get you a custom recovery. Then you can access your backups.

He was asking if he can use an android tablet to fix his phone. He doesn't have access to PC at least until Monday it says so in his post. I wasn't even criticizing you at all. Unless he knows someone with a PC in Mississippi or someone here knows how to use one android device to flash something on another android device he sadly will have to wait until he gets home to fix his phone. You didn't do anything to be criticized for trying to help all I did was point out the info that you missed without personally attacking you making it a critique.

hey all, I've been reading , downloading etc for hours trying to get back into my GS3.. i was as usual roaming around and saw a post that said something to this effect "do ya need to get back to stock?" and figured yes i need to so i jumped in with both feet ..i had my boot loader unlocked and for some reason locked the darned thing remembering it was locked before i rooted and then i get the screen that says ie: "System software not authorized ~~~~~~~~~~~~" with a yellow triangle over it with an "!" mark in it..
all would have been ok except the line up of the way to do things was kinda outta line.. after i had locked bootloader "which is the way the GS3 came" i thought. at any rate i am now where i said i was and if i can be helped it would be appreciated.. and no repeated.. next time i'll read their whole line up first.. so help me if ya can and i am game right now for about anything ..
Hello,
Totally new to this Forum, and to the idea of rooting/unlocking phones at home. Hopefully someone can help or provide guidance. I'm sorry, I'm sure this answer comes up somewhere on here, but I have not searched.
Here is my predicament.
I got a new phone, and was going to try to root/unlock my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant i9000M) for my GF's daughter.
So...I downloaded Odin 1.3 and ran the instructions as I found them on another site. They supplied the link to a *.tar file that would root the phone. After I ran that, the phone would power on...but not pass the Splash screen. When it boots the i9000M turns to i9000 and the lights on the front of the phone flash..and it stays on that screen.
I downloaded a different version of Odin (1.85), a new tar (CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1) and pit (s1_odin_20100512) files. I've run all of those...and now the phone will not power at all. If I run into Download mode...it works.
Thoughts?
Is this phone able to be saved...or should I just take it with me to hockey tonight and practice shooting with it.
I got it all to work...after much reading and searching, I found the original Stock ROMS to bring me back to factory, then properly flashed and unlocked, got the SIM to work and even figured out how to set up the APN for internet access via the phone service....initially I only had it working on wifi.
A new question. Is an unlocked i900M (Bell) the same as any other i9000? I want to upgrade her past Froyo 2.2, because her app/game selection is rather limited. Everything I am finding references i9000...and doesn't say with it is a Gingerbread upgrade for a stock phone, or unlocked phone.
I apologize if these are noob questions, but I've never done this before.
Any help.guidance would be appreciated.
Matt
I recently got my Samsung Galaxy S6 and decided to root and install TWRP for a custom rom. I was able to root the phone and then installed their android app. TWRP Manager (ROOT).
After that I went to the app and one of the sidebars labeled install TRWP on the app then to the codename zeroflte for the Samsung Galaxy S6. It told me to restart my phone and I did but after that I was not able to use my phone again. Whenever I would turn on my phone it would show the normal Samsung s6 screen with a unlock picture and the words custom underneath. After that it would display a turquoise color screen with a words
Start Up Failed. Your device didn’t start up successfully. Use the Verizon Software Repair Assistant on a computer to repair your device.
I tried to google and see if anyone had a similar problem but nothing popped up. I don’t know where to find a copy for the Verizon Software Repair Assistant for the Galaxy S6.
I also tried and factory reset the phone or anything but the only combinations of buttons that would work on my phone were the down volume + power button. It gave me a list of options including factory reset but every option that I chose would lead me back to the same screen. The turquoise screen saying Start Up Failed.
Any help would be great. I don’t know what to do now. Tomorrow I am going to down to a local repair store and see what they can do. But if you know of anything that would be great. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.

Have you tried to Odin back to stock?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6/development/5-15-stock-odin-tar-t3109676
Ya, you'll need to odin back to stock like he said. And TWRP isn't available for our phone since we don't have an unlocked bootloader. Do not try and install TWRP again. You'll want to use Flashfire if you need to flash anything.

Keep in mind XDA is a community for developers by developers. People are also willing to help, but you got to put forth your own effort. You will get ignored if you think people on this site are going to act as free tech support. Your question is posted just a few posts down from a link to the process on using odin to return to stock. You need to just follow those instructions. If you don't understand a step then Google it. I'm saying this because I noticed you joined XDA to ask this question. Or at least it's your first post. You will make a lot of enemies here if you don't take the time to read and research things before posting.
HELP
I have the same problem (Start up failed) but ODIN is not working for me... I am using the stock firmware for the GS6 edge and it says failed... what should I do?

If you have an edge you should use their forum. It's different than the GS6.
Just had to Odin my Verizon S6 (sm-g920v) to get it back to factory defaults.
I've been rooted for months with no issues and have known my bootloader was locked with no nice way around it but then i read some stupid guides saying to go get twrp manager to load custom roms on the Galaxy s6 phones and they even included the sm-g920v model number. I went to the app store, downloaded twrp manager, followed the first few steps, rebooted and that was that. Could not boot up anymore without Start Up Failed. A few checks and warning would have been greatly appreciated from the app developers but oh well.
Well that was fun. Now to redo everything on my phone.

Same exact crap just happened to me. I was running CleanRom Lite....thought I could use TWRP...some times I do stupid things...should have just stuck with FlashFire.
I've tried odin back to stock, it keeps failing. it says nand write fail and it stops. I've tried many different times. I've run Odin 3.10.6 and 3.10.7 I have the latest drivers, it recognizes the device but it will not load anything via odin. I've tried on two different computers as well.

I have a Galaxy s6 edge btw. Not much info on the edge, in desperation, I'm combing thru galaxy s6 forums seeking answers. I have been rooted for awhile. I wanted to turn off the nagging volume warning so I downloaded a zip file to flash but only to find that my twrp recovery was no longer there. So I try to download twrp and flash. Now I'm in a boot loop with the turquoise screen telling me to use a verzion tool to reset the device. Klies says my phone isn't compatible as well as smart switch. Odin fails every time after NAND WRITE. I'm about to microwave this crap and get new phone.

Did you ever get your phone up and running? I ran into similar issue with odin. After looking around on web I found a forum that mentioned using an older version of odin.

Sorry I saw you tried other odin versions 3. 10.x, I meant going lower. 3.09 is recommended for jb/kk but that worked for me.
long storey short,a year or 2 ago, i rooted my phone, S3, installed supersuand mobile odin.
Now im trying to switch over to CWM bootloader, but it always sticks with ODIN for bootloader. i cant seem to get past, or remove, or replace mobile odin as the bootlaoder.
Im stuck with 4.3 os, and wanting to play with other systems... lol
Cant seem to go back to stock image either...
Anyone know how to remove/displace/replace mobile odin?
(Its a great app, and most likely i will re-install after i upgrade.. lol, but for the moment i need it removed... )
Did you mean to unroot your device or you want have a custom recovery in your device?

I would perfer to keep it rooted, andto be able to play with and try out out other roms etc
a year or two ago i rooted it with cf auto root.
installed super user and other things. i kept the stock rom. along the way tho, i installed MObile Odin.
Now i wanted to play with and try out other roms. pretty much everything out there is for CWM. so i attempted to install cwm via pc based ODIN (3.10)
it didnt install, altho it seems like it may be burried in behind. using the program ROM installer i can reboot into cwm mode, all the options etc are there.
If i manualy boot into bootloader, it comes up with "mobile Odin" boot mode. i cant get rid of mobile odin.
Note after this, mobile odin itself was broken and i couldnt run the app. it took some work and playing, but i did get to wherre it would allow me to re-install it and run it.
even when the app itself was broken/ removed, it stil retained the mobile odin bootloader.
that was about when i posted the above question originaly.
in the end,i did manage to get into cwm by using the rom installer app, however i dont think its installed properly by any means..
using the cwm, i attempted to install a new rom with cwm on it as well, however that went horribly wrong.. status 7 (which i belive basicaly means its wrong rom for my phone,) however it should not have been.
S3 I747m on bell/canada
there where severa other issues as i attempted to get things back into working order.
In the end,it went into a cycle of rebooting into cwm bootloader.
I used cwm to re-install a complete backup i had saved, and now i am soft bricked... (sticks at the samsung logo screen during start up.
I tried everything to get a copy of the oem software. 2 problems with this...
First off from the samsung site, it limits you to around14kb persecond... once i hit about 10-15% the download cuts out/quits.
Now theres linksto the files here as well, via rapidshare... i just spent the last 3 days getting rid of the fricken malware/trojans etc from that attempt, and my pc barely fricken runs now.. still got some fixing to do, but i recommend getting rid of that bull thread with its crap links..
Long storey short,if anyone knows of an actual proper link that isnt virus etc infested, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Forum,
I am in desperate need of rooting my old Galaxy Express Prime 2 (SM-J327a), because I accidentally deleted all of my images. I cannot find a .tar file to recover the device. I checked TWRP's site, and they don't have a file to support this device yet. Does anyone know another way to root this device, or where I can find a .tar file to use with Odin? I have tried virtually all root apps and programs.
Thank you,
Mosaic Owl
I would like to second this request (though I am not near as desperate). Has anyone tried using the Samsung one click root method for this phone?

I tried loading up One Click Root on my laptop and it said it couldn't find its servers. I also tried flashing twrp for a similar Boost phone, (SM-J327p) knowing there was a risk of bricking it. My J327a was free and I plan to stick with my Moto, so I could afford to risk it, plus I've always been able to un brick anything from graphics cards to phones and game systems.
Anyway, Odin 3.12 gets a few steps into the twrp install, but before it actually begins to install, an error pops up that says "SHA256 is invalid". I searched for a couple of hours, and all I can come up with is that AT&T put an extra check in there to see where the files were coming from, and attempting to install custom recovery will cause this error. A modified Odin was released to skip this check on an older phone, but I could not find a working link to it.
That's what I came here for: a link to the modified Odin that will allow me to install TWRP without that check. If it's posted, DO NOT try flashing the wrong twrp recovery if you can't afford having it bricked for a while like I can.
I guess you would need to start with an eng bootloader that will let your phone boot then work on a tethered root... I'm still looking for binary 2 with rev 2 combination file without luck, all I need is to extract the boot and see if I can reset lock pattern. I tried google account but it does not have the option to lock-relock screen anymore. It's my nephew's phone and my daughter messed it up. I can login the google account and make it ring and locate it but can't disable the pattern. He has no backup of this phone...
Have any one make it done?
