I live in Tanzania but I am an American and have an American billing address. This morning I woke up and both my tablet and phone asked me to re-accept the play store agreement. To my wondering eyes I now have access to the US Play Store with music, TV, and everything. It is also the same way on my PC. I wasn't running a VPN or using the Market Enabler app. My IP clearly shows that I am located in Tanzania. The only thing I can think is that the Play Store is now getting my location from my billing address. Is anyone else having this same fortune?
Also I don't think they just extended the store to Tanzania because I can see even particular apps which are normally only in the US store. And other apps which aren't in the US play store I still can't see (like the VLC beta).
Shouldn't this be news or something?
Edit: My wife is not getting the same results. One difference there is that her account is a free gmail account and mine is g apps for business. Maybe that's important.
Yeah I noticed something similar too. I bought a nexus from Germany to Slovenia with a German virtual credit card and through a forwarding service.
So I guess that the store now thinks that I live in Germany. Just now I noticed that the Play Store app on all my devices started showing music, movies, books and other stuff from German Play Store.
The same on PC without VPN or proxy. It seems they removed all geolocation IP checks and now require just correct billing address and/or credit card.
Well I guess I can't complain.

If I uninstall the amazon app, the apps don't work anymore. Can a new user login with a different amazon account and use those apps?
Giving my phone to someone else, but don't want my amazon account on the phone.
The apps are tied to your account just like the Android market.
Amazon runs a service in the background that authenticates apps against it. If you uninstall the Amazon app the service goes with it and the apps can't authenticate. Though there may be a way to install the app store, then cut off it's access to the net so the phone only locally authenticates, your credentials are still in the phone and the new user may reinstate the App Stores connection, which would be bad. In addition I could imagine this being a pain in the butt to figure out how to do.
So I'm from Serbia, and for reasons best known to Google, they won't let anyone from my country buy apps on Google Play. This was easy to circumvent by using proxy servers or VPN, but now (in the last week or so), Google Play won't let me buy apps any more. When I use a VPN (whether on my desktop or my Android devices), Google Play is now showing me only free apps. When I use a different browser (where I'm not logged in with my Google account), Play is showing me the store of whatever country the proxy server is in, but when I log in using my account, it's showing only free apps.
Does anyone know what changed and what is Google using to figure out which country I'm in? I don't have a country set in my Google account (it says optional so I didn't specify it), but somehow they know I'm not in the US or the UK even if I'm using a proxy.
Do you have location service enabled on your phone?

You can use various (free) proxy programs like TunnelBear (http://www.tunnelbear.com/). With this program i have successfully activated my Google Music account from The Netherlands.
Same here :-\ If I'm logged out everything is US, but if I log me in, everything switches to the german site.
But I was able to order something from the US play store.
So how to transform my german to a US account?
Hola Unblocker (extension), if your running Chrome Browser on a PC
Lets me use the Google Play Store from Thailand so I can view hardware.
After update to Lolipop my market shows only Free apps and says not available in your country VPN doesn't help
Did you use multiple Google accounts earlier? At least I have old apps purchased using my old Google account so I need to add that account to Nexus and use that in store to install paid apps.

Are you sure you are looking in the correct spot? You can see any previous installed apps if you go into My Apps, then into All. You can even install all of them at once if you push longer on one app, then on all the apps you want to install. I don't have that Tab anymore, it's something related to the last version of Play Store.
Well I can install apps I've purchased before they are visible in MyApps TAB but not in General to Buy them Looks like Country restriction is working again somehow
Hi everyone!
When I was making current Gmail account which is connected with google play store now, from some reason then I changed the country on play store over vpn. Than I was just a high school kid and now I want to connect a payment card to play store, a lot of applications which I want to download has not available in other countries, only in my. I tried everything to back account on my country but without success. I can't just switch to another account because when I tried to switch it requires password and when I put a password it won't to accept it but password is correct tho. What's happening with my account and play store? Any advice? I will be very grateful, thanks!
