I'm sorry those Roms can't be ported cause one is based on stock.. Stock Roms / stock based Roms cant be ported... It takes some serious and hacking and soc and also similarity between devices must be reasonable to port the stock Roms e.g.: our sense4 port
2nd Rom is Firefox os.. It's better to be source built and since it is in Dev stage .. Not too attractive.. May not be portable too even once it's done

Being of the same oem is not a necessary criterion.. It's just easier to port it from the same company...

You have only yourself to blame, was it so hard to do a quick research BEFORE buying the phone? ...

Samsung i9001 uses qualcomm msm8255 chipset with built in adreno 205 gpu. Question is:
Theres a miui rom for HTC Desire HD which uses the same qualcomm msm8255 chip and the same built in gpu. So theoretically it is possible to install desire HD MIUI rom to the i9001.
Anyone tried or mby smone can explain is it possible or not ans what are the risks?
no it is not possible...i can guarantee that
also...it is not possible to really "port" miui as it is closed source
only miui guys can port it
so lets flood the miui guys with requests to support the i9001
as far as i know they have some requirements for porting miui to a new device
here a quote from a post of a miui developer:
http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?8833-Notice-MIUI-for-Upcoming-Devices-***3vo-Update***
Yes, we get it, they all got S-Off and a custom recovery. But, for now, they can't obtain MIUI until they have a good AOSP ROM out (i.e. Cyanogenmod 7). So for now, please, let us deal with the porting, and I'll keep all you Sensation and 3vo users updated here.

so they need s-off , costum recovery and an AOPS rom to build a miui rom
and i dont think that we have all of these things right now

i9001 has a locked bootloader,so u dont have to worry abt s-off
also,i have a wild idea......what if we take the miui desire rom and replace their libraries with that of i9001?
dont troll or flame me for this!!!

Hmm. But not the desire Rom. Desire HD Rom. So you think it is possible? or that was just a troll?
i am sorry i meant "unlocked bootloader"!
ok "desire hd miui rom"...anyone willing to try?worth a try,i'd guess!
I really want to give it a try. Waiting for the test Rom. I think it is possible, cuz Xiaomi miui phone uses the same Snapdragon processor like i9001 and HTC DESIRE HD.
Strongly! but I do not think too much, the I9001 is a mobile crossing between the S and S2 ...
But hey, We believe!
Sorry for my bad english, i'm French !
Is there any miui rom for this phone?i'm searching for all over this place, but there is no answer for it.is there no one work on it?

hi everyone, I have used HTC Desire for a long time and now I am using Galaxy R... You may already know that, MIUI is one of the most popular custom ROMS designed for Android phones and I would like to use MIUI based rom on my Galaxy R..
I wish I could develop it but I cant
So, Is there any plan to port an MIUI based ROM for Galaxy R..
Thanks.
The best way is to ask our chinese users, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to come soon. We must have cyanogen first, and cm-developers are preoccupied with porting ICS and rather developing cm9 for the currently supported devices than starting to support the new ones. We must wait
the best way is to broadcast 9103 and make it popular.if there are many people using 9103,the devs will put their eyes on 9103

I know about CM9, but I want only ICS, not ICS + CM ;p.
AOSP ICS is hard to makeand requires like 10GB bandwidth and atleast 8gb ram with a really good processor to compile

Porting ROMs are one of my future works buddy. After MaZel II, I will try porting a ICS ROM of S2 to ours and if i succeed, will make a guide specific to SGR.
One Important condition in porting is that both the devices should be in same android version. And both device should be of same CPU (for us its ARMv7)

We can not port JB ROM of SII to our ROM untill we get JB ROM for our Galaxy R, Porting is possible only if you have same Android version on both the devices (Eg; CM10 to CM10, Stock to Stock....).....

You should be aware that our device lacks an important feature, the NEON instruction set, so you cannot simply replace native binaries and libraries (such as libandroid_runtime.so which is sometimes crucial for ports).

If we have CM 9/10 then we can port AKOP, Paranandroid etc.....
Check the link which i have posted in previous page....
I know, CPU, GPU, Mainboard and Android Firmware version must be exactly the same and match. Example : LG Optimus 2X or Motorola ATRIX. But S2 and S3 as the hardware is very very different our Galaxy R. For this reason, it's hard to develop/port the firmware.

From the link:
I will be referring to the following:
BASE = The GB/ICS/JB ROM made for your Device only.
PORTED = The ROM you are trying to port from.
BASE and PORTED must be the same CPU. e.g. ARMv7, ARMv6, ARMv5
You must have the same settings in Notepad++ like mine.
Ignore the procedure, if the file or folder is not present!
BASE & PORTED should be the same Android version.
If you are porting a custom GB ROM, then use a GB BASE, the same goes for ICS and JB
Make sure both BASE & PORTED are deodexed (It's hard to port an odexed ROM)
Final ROM is inside PORTED Folder
(Don't get confused! This is a Major change from the previous Guide because this method is a lot faster and easier)
in this link It says Base & ported should have the same android version. it says ICS/JB should have compiled earlier . So we must look on how to compile ICS for our device..:fingers-crossed:

I know I know, most of you are going to be like why have ICS when we have JB, its better. That question won't be answered directly.
Anyways I need help with building CM9 for the N7100 for porting Sense 4 (Need to have some questions answered before porting sense 5 on JB.
I have worked with source codes of ROMs i.e CM but not enough to know how to build a new version of android for a device never having it before.
I figured as the i9300 has CM9 and as these two devices are super similar. I was wondering if skmeone could help me out with setting up a new device tree.
Thankyou
I will help. PM me
