I know about CM9, but I want only ICS, not ICS + CM ;p.

AOSP ICS is hard to makeand requires like 10GB bandwidth and atleast 8gb ram with a really good processor to compile
Sent from my GT-S5670 using xda premium

maybe u should buy galaxy nexus or nexus s or sgs II

i m already use this rom and sorry to say this disgusting because of this is in beta stage and manny bugs on it....
so please always try stock rom which is always best..

[Q] ICS(Ice cream sandwich) ROM for galaxy Fit

Hello Dear Developers and pals
I was thinking if our community could possible have a ICS Rom? Since the SDK has been released and the similar idea is still in progress for other phones why not our Fit
I don't know the technical requirements of the ICS and such correct me if I am wrong on this
Many users will agree on this perhaps,
Warm regards
I'm not sure if there will be a port for our device as the ICS requires an ARMv7 and it needs more than 256mb of ram to run smoothly (that's what I've heard from a few threads here on XDA) but I think its possible of a developer will work on it for out device, ICS works on any screen resolution of any Android device. I wanted to have an ICS port as well on our GFIT so lets just maybe wait.. or else just move on and upgrade to a high-end Android device.
Sent from my GT-S5670 using xda premium
For the Ram I think we'd not have much issues as we have 290mb
processor sure is an area of concern since it is ARM6 though through modified kernels we might be able to overclock the device and there is a bleak chance that ICS will run
Na.....
I don't think there will be a ICS ROM for this phone....
Unless someone ports Cyanogen Mod 8 or 9 which I guess would be based on IceCream Sandwich....

It is not so easy for fit to get the ice cream sandwich so early....i mean like ICS has just been out....4get ICS theres not even an honeycomb update....bt still if the devs want they can do anything....

As for ICS it may be possible thats what the thread is discussion point of view

Well first of HoneyComb was meant for tablets and Ice cream Sandwich was a combination of HoneyComb and Gingerbread which will unite all the smartphones and tablets Android base. ICS will work on any screen resolution, be it a smartphone or a tablet. The only issue about ICS is that it needs 256mb of ram or more to run smoothly on our device and it needs an atleast a device that runs ARMv7
Lets just really hope someone who is patient and kind enough will port ICS to our device. Or else like I said from another thread, move on and buy a new high-end smartphone that will support ICS and wait for the official update. That's if you want to be up to date to the latest firmware of Android and geeky enough.

As google has released ICS source codes. Hope some 1 is kind enough to port ICS for Galaxy Fit. Impossible is NOTHING.

Well it does give an ICS feel but not the full experience of the real ICS but its really great though, its so sad that there's still no a work in progress port ICS rom for our Galaxy Fit yet, I recently saw a port of ICS working on X8 sub forum and an LG Optimus One ICS port. Why can't we have the same? Its just sad..

ICS Custom rom for samsung galxy fit

hello
I am from Split, Croatia, and I'm new on xda developers forum.
I own samsung galaxy fit, and I'm tired of gingerbread and touchwiz.
I wonder you could reccomend me ICS custom rom, on witch works: camera, music player, play store, WiFi, bluetooth and gsm/sms.
and i would like some recommondations for some good programs for my phone.
thank you
Wait for maclaw's ics official release , it keeps on beta 7 and its the only one...
Sent from my HTC-Desire using xda premium
Ics is not yet good for everyday use...though it keeps getting better with each release...
So all you can do now is wait for maclaw's next release...for the time being, use the gb based custom roms...

Porting ROMs are one of my future works buddy. After MaZel II, I will try porting a ICS ROM of S2 to ours and if i succeed, will make a guide specific to SGR.
One Important condition in porting is that both the devices should be in same android version. And both device should be of same CPU (for us its ARMv7)

We can not port JB ROM of SII to our ROM untill we get JB ROM for our Galaxy R, Porting is possible only if you have same Android version on both the devices (Eg; CM10 to CM10, Stock to Stock....).....

You should be aware that our device lacks an important feature, the NEON instruction set, so you cannot simply replace native binaries and libraries (such as libandroid_runtime.so which is sometimes crucial for ports).

If we have CM 9/10 then we can port AKOP, Paranandroid etc.....
Check the link which i have posted in previous page....
I know, CPU, GPU, Mainboard and Android Firmware version must be exactly the same and match. Example : LG Optimus 2X or Motorola ATRIX. But S2 and S3 as the hardware is very very different our Galaxy R. For this reason, it's hard to develop/port the firmware.

From the link:
I will be referring to the following:
BASE = The GB/ICS/JB ROM made for your Device only.
PORTED = The ROM you are trying to port from.
BASE and PORTED must be the same CPU. e.g. ARMv7, ARMv6, ARMv5
You must have the same settings in Notepad++ like mine.
Ignore the procedure, if the file or folder is not present!
BASE & PORTED should be the same Android version.
If you are porting a custom GB ROM, then use a GB BASE, the same goes for ICS and JB
Make sure both BASE & PORTED are deodexed (It's hard to port an odexed ROM)
Final ROM is inside PORTED Folder
(Don't get confused! This is a Major change from the previous Guide because this method is a lot faster and easier)
in this link It says Base & ported should have the same android version. it says ICS/JB should have compiled earlier . So we must look on how to compile ICS for our device..:fingers-crossed:

That device has a different chip set to the i5800. Different GPU, CPU, etc. Only the resolution is the same. It would be best to base it on cm7 a9 and modify the themes, etc from there. That's probably your best chance at getting a touchwiz looking ROM. You won't be able to use stock touchwiz apps either without modifying them because they need touchwiz framework. (Might be wrong though.. This is all coning from my memory...)

Cm7 has more customisability and a theme engine (that's why I suggested it). You might be able to find some mdpi/ldpi touchwiz 4 themes for cm7 in the play store. Aosp is good but has it been updated to include the a9 patches/fixes? If so, then he could use that to have a more lightweight rom.
