When you tried to flash twrp had you already unlocked the boot loader?
The boot loader must be unlocked prior to the installation of any costume recovery.

yes it was , still is, well i wanted to make sure we were are on the same page is that the same as having device unlocked?

Any suggestions

If you can't get into the boot loader or fastboot, I'm sorry to say you are hard bricked.
Did you wipe from the boot loader at some point before?
Your best options are to send it to Asus with RMA for repair or sell it for parts on eBay.

BTW a vol down and power boot does nothing?

Hold down thepowerbutton and the low volume buttons at the same time, tell us what happens . You must hold them down for almosrt 8 seconds.

i sent it off to asus rma department, guess they told me my warranty is now void and would need to pay for a the labor and a new motherboard, i tried everything over and over. i even let it keep restarting itself overnight and it still didnt do anything, i read someplace it is fixable if only i had a linux based os

i cna get into apx mode i dont know if that helps and i have tried to download the wsg unbricker tool but that doesnt seem to work either i need to learn how to push recovery onto it. i went went from it automatically restarting to it being stuck on asus boot screen, can somebody lead me into the right direction, all your time and effort is and will be greatly apprectiated

Transformer wont turn on... Tried everything!

Hi everyone!
Got my Transformer just today and everything worked fine in the beginning. Updated to 3.2, got everything setup...
Now that the tablet was unused for a couple of hourse while i was at work(shut it down before i went) i cant turn it on again. Before i shut it down it was at about 90 % Battery.
Tried everything that was recommended on the forums(multiple times).
Press Power >10 Seconds than try to turn on the tab -> Nothing Happens
Press Power > 30 Seconds than try to turn on the tab -> Nothing Happens
Power + Volume Down -> Nothing Happens
Power + Volume Up -> Nothing Happens, except when i plugin the usb into my pc. "Device doesnt work properly..." Pops up for a second, then nothing happens. TF doesnt appear in Device Manager at any time.
Tried charging with the AC charger for last 1,5 hours but that didnt work. Now im trying to charge it with the usb port of my pc as this was recommended somewhere on the net.
Anyone got any Hints on what i should do?
Return it for another
^x2 ESPECIALLY if you havent even tried rooting or modding it. send that puppy back asap!
The only thing i did was set up wireless lan and my google account. Then i had to get to work.
Too bad, really liked it while it was working.
Ill try charging it over night and if nothing happens im gonna send it back tomorrow morning.
there are ways to flash rom again ofcourse but if it is that new and you did not root it or any thing like that I think for sure it is better to send it back, good luck
same thing happen to me. unfortunately i'd already rooted and flashed Prime 1.8.4. please help me

Failed at this bold step
3a. Shut your TF off and while plugged into your PC, hold the volume UP and Power button until your PC makes that USB device plugged in sound and there is a notification about installing drivers.
Already tested at 3 laptops still can't detected the USB.First I suspect cable problem, but I'm still can use the cable to charge the dock. Now I'm thinking maybe my physical power button "damaged"
that sucks and you cant enter CWM tto do a hardware button test either I guess ?
The carge uses other wires than comunication trough the same cable so it still can be the cable

What you have is a classic case of a permanent apx bootloop.
There are actually a few of those circulating as "new" devices from the manufacturer. What happens is a user would brick it, return it to the store, the store would return it to the asus, asus people would nvflash it, then they would send it out again as a "new" transformer.
Permanent apx bootloop is almost impossible to fix. Many people, including myself, have worked on several tegra 2 tablets that somehow got stuck in permanent apx bootloop by their owners. So far, we have not found a definite pattern to how these devices got there. And so far, we have not found a consistent way to bring them out of permanent apx bootloop. Doing random things to it seems to be the only way to bring a device out of a permanent apx bootloop.
When a device is stuck in permanent apx bootloop, no amount of nvflash, wiping data, etc. will bring it out of apx bootloop. After every nvflash, you can boot it up once only then it goes into apx bootloop.
Trust me, some people, including myself, have tried some weird ways to try to bring a tegra 2 tablet out of permanent apx bootloop.
What you wanna do right now is return it immediately and exchange for another one. Why? Because we have also found that once a device is in a permanent apx bootloop, if you ever manage to fix it it will randomly go back into a permanent apx bootloop again at some point.
So far as we know, there is no real explanation as to why some of these devices would go into permanent apx bootloop. You're going to hear a lot of theories, though. LOL

hi. thanx for the info. never knew that.
but for the OP. how did you finally managed to go into APX? did the pc just happen to recognize the APX mode instead of calling it "unknown device" or as you sayed "device doesnt work properly"?
did you press other buttons when you did it?
i think i've really tried everything and several computers and still didnt work

[Q] Can not start my tablet. Why?

Hi everyone
That's what i get on my screen when volume down +power
The device is unlocked
Android cardhu-user bootloader <2.10 e> released by "US_epad-9.4.5.26-20120720" A03

and ASUS logo in the middle
can not get into recovery
nothing works
Tablet is unlocked, rooted,TWRP instaled, run on stock US_epad-9.4.5.26-20120720,never updated to.30
Don't know what to do.Is there something else i can do?
Tried to flash recovery in fastboot but always get waiting for device. Got drivers on my computer.
Got no more ideas.
Thanks in advence

Great forum
Maybe those 183 people don't know how to help you?
Did you by any chance use the nvflash method?
No I did not. There is no communication between PC and tablet. What I get is "waiting for device" when try to flash recovery in fastboot. Can not update APX driver.I think Infinity is done:cryingne month old pad is useless.
So what were you doing (or trying to do) that got you into this state? That may help in determining what went wrong and how to fix it...

Couldn't even update to .30 .It said "failed"Now can do nothing.Got tablet unlock..,rooted,TRWP recovery ,ran stock.Screw up good, but the queation is what now.Is there something I can do?Thinking to call Asus and sent them to fix but after unlock no more warranty.Wonder how much they would charge.
Yes.Unfortunately does not work. It shows checking for android ota recovery
booting recovery kernel image and nothing going on
If the bootloader's telling you that it's trying to boot recovery and recovery doesn't boot immediately thereafter, evidence would suggest that you do not have TWRP installed. Assuming you haven't done this already, you should probably get the latest TWRP blob and fastboot flash recovery that guy.
Got TWRP before problem occurred.

Sorry if I am no help at all but I have had this problem as well and you are pretty much in the water. Unless NVflash or some other program finds a way to restore our tabs through apx mode(pwr + vol up) you device is hardbricked and cannot be fixed unless you RMA to asus, which I did and was told would cost me $277 for them to installed a new motherboard to fix it (Rediculous btw you would think that the company would be able to fix it without going to that extreme). Anyways unless something new comes out that can fix it (which is very unlikely unless asus releases a way to read our individual SBK) you might want to talk to asus or buy a new tablet.
Also if you are still skeptical or in disbelief that you will never see your home screen again go ahead and search the faq a little and you will find detailed post on people who have had the exact same issue as you have caused by multiple reasons. I've done lots of research before coming to the conclusion that is not fixable

Is your device unlocked? What version android were you running? And does nothing show up if you continue to hold the volume down and power button after it resets? Hopefully you'll be able to fastboot TWRP recovery. I encountered a similar problem when I tried to install a custom 4.1 ROM from stock Android 4.0.3, but my device was unlocked and I was able to successfully get things going after carefully searching these forums.

Yes it is unlocked Jellybean nothing happens if i keep holding the volume down and power except the screen goes off for a second the right back to the asus screen Fastboot won't work, it just says waiting for device My pc won't see it at all, not in device manager or anyuthing No apx either. If i could get fastboot to work i think i could fix it
I face a similar problem, but my fastboot is working. However, when I try to flash something through fastboot, the screen hangs until I reboot it. Also, if I choose one of the three options, it gives the message "Unrecoverable Bootloader Error."
I almost for got the details:
Bootloader - 10.6.1.18....I think...(it's JB 4.2.1, I'm sure)
Recovery - formerly twrp-2.4.4-jb.blob ( not 2.4.4-jb-42.blob)
Android - not booting
Device unlocked
Error (in red letters) - Unrecoverable bootloader error)
And no, I do not have NVFlash.
Any thing that I might've missed? Please let me know. ASUS wants $99 just to troubleshoot over the phone. I don't think so.
Also same problem. Fastboot 'sees' the TF300 device but does not flash.
I have the same problem. Fastboot 'sees' the TF300 device but does not flash. If somone has come up with a solution for this, could you please share, it would be greatly appreciated. Did Asus finally release NVflash for JB 4.2? It seems it is the only possible way of solving this, or isn't it?
Thanks for your help

What happened in the end? Did you go to ASUS and get it repaired? How much did it cost?
Hi guys,
I solved the problem with the bootloader error (0x0000000) assistance in sending the TF300T. I told him that during the upgrade something must have gone wrong and the OS did not boot anymore. They repaired free of charge. My dealer to whom I entrusted the tablet is Mediaworld (a chain of electronic products Italian). I hope you can serve

[Q] only booting into recovery after updates/more please help

Hi all I've been an idiot and am hoping I haven't done any permanent damage to my unlocked/rooted tf300 so before I continued doing anymore I wanted to make a post here asking for any help possible.
I hadn't updated to the 4.2.1 build yet and finally decided to bite the bullet an hour or two ago since I wanted to try out the newest version of cromi. I was using the patched 2.4 twrp and initially updated to the 10.6.1.8 update using fastboot, then decided I might as well do the 10.6.1.15.3 using the fastboot again and finally updated to the 2.5 twrp using fastboot. As the jb updates were happening I would get the message that the tablet wasn't rooted and to install SuperSU, and because I'm a dumb creature of habit both times I just instinctively swiped to install, only realizing what I had done after the fact.
After all of this I was still able to at least turn on my tablet and get to the home screen, but unable to do a factory reset in recovery (the log would say "unable to" on every task, but the final message would still say successful?) or have any options to install a rom within it. I had also noticed that I wasn't rooted anymore. I used motochopper and was rooted again for the time being and used a couple apps that required root just to make sure that was the case. At this point I rebooted the tablet and holding down the power button/volume down, I think this is the point where my tablet would just boot straight into recovery, unable to boot into anything except recovery since even if I hold down the power button/volume down.
I've tried to do a factory reset and get the same response as earlier and I get a "failed" message when I try to do a data format. I know there will be at least a couple glaring red flags within this message to anybody who knows much more than I do, but I'm hoping this isn't the end of my tablet and would greatly appreciate any assistance provided. If you need any extra information please let me know I'll do the best I can with providing whatever would be useful, thank you in advance for your time and help.
did you install the 4.2 recovery version?
if you have TF300T (not TG or TL), you need to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob which you can download from the TWRP official website.
On 10.6.1.15.3, to enter fastboot mode, you need to reboot your tablet and hold volume down button until you see 3 icons (RCK, Android logo, and Wipe). At this point, release the volume down, but do not select any option and do not press volume up. Without doing anything, you are now in fastboot mode.
Do the usual thing you did... connect your tablet to PC via your USB cable, run cmd.exe and change your path to where you have fastboot and the "openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob" file. Type:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob
wait until you see a blue progress bar on your tablet. When that completes without error, type:
fastboot reboot
Enter TWRP recovery, Wipe dalvik and cache, try flashing the official ASUS 10.6.1.15.3 stock ROM again. Do not swipe to install SuperSU to root at this point. Just tap "Do not install." If installation goes well, reboot, and re-flash "openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob", as installing the official stock ROM may have overwritten your TWRP recovery.
To root, use motochopper like you did. Or alternatively, flash a custom 10.6.1.15.3 stock-compatible kernel and let TWRP install SuperSU (Swipe to install) when prompted before you reboot system. You will get a SuperSU installer app on your launcher. Run that app and choose "Play" or "install from recovery" option. I can confirm that both method works without apparent issues. Choosing Play would be easier and faster than having to go to recovery to flash SuperSU binaries.
I hope this works for you.

Thank you here's hopefully where the problem lies, I accidently downloaded the -JB version, not the -4.2.
How would I be able to fix this? In response to both this and ImmovableObject's post, holding down the power/volume down buttons doesn't take me to the screen with the 3 icons anymore where I can run fastboot, it just sends me into recovery mode without those options ever showing up.

That's too bad I'm leaving for a month and was hoping to be able to use it while I was gone, oh well nobody to blame but myself looks like I'll be without a tablet for a while. Thank you guys for your time and help I really appreciate it, hopefully the fix will come at some point soon in the near future.
I apologize for this last post feel free to ignore it because it's moreso just asking for an opinion but I thought I might as well ask, if you (or anybody else) were in this position would you wait for a solution to hopefully come out or cut your losses and try to sell the tablet on somewhere like ebay as a nonfunctioning unit?
edit: and if I did sell it would I have to worry about this problem being fixed and the buyer would have access to everything currently on the tablet or is that information inaccessible/wiped?

One idea (although I haven't tested it) to install TWRP 4.2 inside of TWRP, then reboot. If this doesn't work, then I suggest buying another motherboard off of eBay and replace it with the one in your tablet.

Thank you so much for the response, would there be a way to go about getting the 4.2 version onto my tablet though if it only boots into recovery, even when you hold down the power button/volume down? When I plug the tablet into my computer it isn't able to be recognized (I'm assuming just because it only gets to the recovery screen).
Try running "fastboot devices" on your computer while in the bootloader. Does it show anything?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading somewhere the when in the bootloader, fastboot automatically launches on 4.2.

It IS possible to flash recovery while you're in recovery. Here's how (from tobdaryl; twrp can be gotten from here: techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf300t/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob):
adb push openrecovery-twrp-2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob /sdcard/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
adb reboot
An then to flash stock (once again, from tobdaryl; roms can be gotten from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227):
adb push blob /sdcard/blob
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
adb reboot
Oh, well it hasn't been letting me go into the bootloader on the tablet, just boots into recovery regardless, but for what it's worth the options/commands still show up as shown in the attachment. I don't know if that's something they do anyways though.
What about "adb devices"?

Have you tried flashing 4.2 within TWRP?
How would I be able to go about doing that? (sorry for the inexperience and delays in response, have to wait five minutes between posts)
Download the 4.2 rom (http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22926241640219416), extract it, and put the extracted zip file on to a MicroSD card. Boot into TWRP and install it from the external MicroSD (I don't know how to go about that since I don't have TWRP).
Also, you shouldn't be waiting 5 minutes between each response. You are over 10 posts.

Oops. I just read the statement carefully and realized that you have to be verified by a moderator, not have over 10 posts.
I tried it out but sadly it looks like the external microsd is unable to mount so I can't pull anything off of it
edit: It gives me the option to mount a system when the ext. microsd is in but not when it is out, I don't know if that is of any help? Every other option isn't possible though.
What type of MicroSD card are you using?
A sandisk 32gb class 4 microsdhc, it's the same one I had been using with the tablet previously before this all happened

asus tf700 how to question...

hi . I have a asus tf700 model with the silver metallic back. for some reason the tablet is locked on the asus boot screen with the "this device unlocked" lettering on the top left corner.
i'm sorry if this is a double post but ive been searching for weeks and been hit with brick walls.
if there are any links specific to revive the tablet post them please...
all I know is that my pc does see it as a apx device in apx mode but I have no access to the recovery bootloader or any other menu. I got adb and fastboot installed and I need to know how to upload a new twrp or bootloader and rom.
I'm not a noob as far as bricked devices I did have a htc m7 bricked and samsung galaxy note3 that are working quite awesome right now.
Thanks for any help...
I am sorry to tell you this, but if you cannot get into either fastboot or recovery your tablet is a brick.
Unless you have your NVflash files squared away, but I think you would have mentioned if you did.... If you hadn't heard about those, never mind. They are device specific and have to be generated when the device still works....
I've heard a minor miracle where someone just let the battery die, leave it alone for a day or so and then trickle charge it through USB and then was able to boot into fastboot, but I wouldn't count on it....
Ok. So even in abx mode there is not much to do?
Oh well i guess i have to get a new logic board then..
thanks for the reply. If there is anything that can revive it im open to suggestions
APX mode is where you can use Nvflash to restore the tablet. Sorry...

Click to collapse
so i spoke to the prior owner and here is what he did.... maybe this could save me but probably not....
We unlocked and tried to root through the official tool. My wife then tried to flash a rom using cyanogen but must have used the wrong one and it bricked.
It was definitely clockwork mod and we did wipe more than once. Wish we knew which step we messed up!
can this be undone?
:fingers-crossed:
Not without Nvflash blobs - sorry.
Hope you got it for free. You can get used mainboard on eBay for $50 or so. For that money it's a nice tablet once you custom rom'd it.....
Would a twrp blob work?
If you could boot into the bootloader it might. You could try lots of stuff it could boot into it. But you can't....
