This app is no longer being updated and may cause issues on newer versions of Android. Use at your own risk!
Description
Font Changer allows you to change the font on your Android device. Some (most likely people from the HTC Desire forum section) may be familiar with an older version which required flashing an update, however these two versions don't require it (check the requirements section for more).
Basically you can put your TTF fonts in /sdcard/.fontchanger/ (location can be changed in the settings) and then you can apply a font once they have been found by the application (inside Font Changer there are more detailed instructions on how to do this). You can also set the fonts individually using the advanced mode. It works just by copying the selected font to the system partition and overwriting the current font. Backup is automatic, although occasionally it breaks resulting in the need to fix the fonts manually or with an update (usually the cause of messing with the fonts alongside with Font Changer).
Font Changer used to only have a paid version for the past few months, but with the new Market changes I have decided to add a free version. While most cancellations happen within a few minutes after purchase, not all do... and 15 minutes is just too short! Plus some people are not in a country where they are allowed to buy paid apps. Anyway, that's my reasoning.
The application should be removed from its settings to restore the default fonts and density. More information can be found on its Market page and inside the application.
Requirements
root
system write access (aka NAND unlock or S-OFF)
busybox
custom recovery (not a requirement per-se, but highly recommended in case something goes wrong)
Reviews
DroidDog
Coming Features
Fix up setting custom website for preview
Set dark/white theme
Rework UI for the font picker
Rework UI for the density changer
Need some icons for the Basic/Advanced tabs
Add more fonts to be replaced in Basic mode
Check font integrity
Shake for a random font
Really thanks for share.
Can't u upload the free .apk here? My camera doesn't work so i cant scan the QRCode. Would be nice

OK, done. Although if your signature is correct and you have a GT540, Font Changer doesn't have support for it yet as I need some information to identify the device (the person with a GT540 who was helping me has gone somewhat quiet and I haven't managed to finish it without his input).

Lol. Allright. Good to know. "None support" does not mean "does not work for GT540", correct? I'll try it anyway so...

1. There are multiple rooting methods for the GT540, and some of them work with Font Changer and others don't. I'm afraid I don't have any specific information on this. If 1 works, then check out 2.
2. The GT540 uses different fonts than the default Android ones. I know which ones and already have the code in the application to make it work, however all I need is to identify the device for which I require someone with a GT540 willing to help.
Anyway, feel free to give it a try and see what will happen.
Tried right now, works well. Looks **** cause of fail font.
Some informations for you: Got 2.2.1 based on CyanogenMod, Recovery 2.5.0.5.
Yeah. Thank you!

OK, your one works because you have CM which uses default Android fonts
You're welcome.
Version 1.7.1.3 has been released, per-user request.
It is now possible to specify in the settings whether the regular font should be used to replace the clock, or whether the default clock font should be used. Some ROMs make use of the clock font, others don't, so the option may not have an effect for everyone.
Doesn't work for me on rooted GT540 with stock Android 2.1 update. I am willing to help with any testing.
I've ben using this app for a while (paid version) and it works very well.
Seems to work on the HTC Vision /G2/Desire Z. Thanks a lot! (Got the paid version to support development)

Hi there. It doesn't work as in when you set the font it does nothing?
If that's what happens then you could try running the app which I attached in this post and send the report which it generates by GMail, or any other method that works for you. I'm missing identification information for the GT540.

So it works fine on a Galaxy S sister device? When I tested a long time ago on my friend's Galaxy S it would cause freezes and didn't allow for the notification bar to be pulled down...

Thank you, I added those devices to the supported list. A little surprised that they all have full root since they only came out recently. On the Desire we had to wait for a while... >_<
And thanks to all those who bought from the Market to support development, it's greatly appreciated.
Very nice app. Thank you for developing it! Works perfect on HTC Desire
It seems that only ttf files are working, if anybody has a font which is otf for instance you can convert them here http://onlinefontconverter.com/
Hope op don't mind that i posted the link.
Thanks again

Yes, This is on the epic running the latest leak of 2.2. No issues that I've seen, yet. The notification bar works fine.

Just a second. You are giving me conflicting information. Did it say you don't have system write access OR root? Both will never be shown at the same time, I checked the code twice just now.
EDIT: Never mind, I was able to see that page. I'll get back to you soon hopefully.
it said it doesnt have write access. didnt say anything about root. sorry about that
EDIT: it said it didnt have full root. i must be tired, or something, lol.

It should be showing up in widgets once you move to system/app and then reboot. Not sure why its doing that. I really dont have an answer for you, if you know how to adb push you can try that, if not, try going to the miui dev forums and posting your question.
I see that all the us state files are named the same, how would I go about pushing them all as I have family and friends everywhere?
Edit that - i just pushed the first apk for a-g and its showing every city/state. Only thing not working is my location/gps, I had to manually select my city.
It looks very nice compared to other apps I've tried. I'll report back with any issues but it looks accurate

Hey OP what rom are you running in the screen shots?
No hay amor para México? Mexico is left out too.
Hello.
What is the font used in ROM on your screenshot?
Thanks
Probably a n00b question, but does it only work with rooted phones? Tried installing the apk with Astro on my LG Optimus One but it wouldn't install...
Meh I can't change Fahrenheit to Celcius...
For anyone wondering, the ROM in the OP is MIUI.
And MIUI Weather is much more than a widget. Heck, take a look at the actual app. Everything about it is beautiful and well executed. Check out the animations in the About screen. This app is amazing.
Celsius and other non US cities would be nice.

MarkHUK and Co. are working on it. They have the source code and are trying to make it so that database files aren't necessary, and that only one .apk will be needed.
In the meantime, if you would like your country to be made available, post your country codes to the MIUI Weather thread at miui-dev.com HERE.
I thought it was MIUI but it looks like there is an app drawer, which MIUI doesnt have, unless there is an app for that hahaha
It could easily be another launcher on top of MIUI. You aren't locked into using the MIUI launcher. You can use whatever you want.

If you would like your city/country added, click the link I posted earlier, and post your country codes in that thread.
Played with it last night and this morning and all the graphics and weather animations look amazing. There are 3 issues I see besides my location not working.
I can't change the time from 24 hour time format to standard am/pm and the widget/weather has no setting for when it updates, they just do it on their own. Also the widget doesn't update if you refresh the weather

ok download the zip in the link above. extract it. use the one that says nokia S60 not the calibri one.
use program font changer from the market, install the .tff file in folder sdcard/.fontchanger.
go to font changer program and then a preview will show up, click on it, reboot. enjoy!
screen shots in the above link, it looks even better on the G2x (that link shows G2 screens)

Will this process work with ANY .tff font file??
Thanks for the links and the quick walkthrough by the way... I'm rebooting now to my new "Nokia" Font. We'll see how it looks.
Get back to me on the ANY FONT question if you could please? I'm interested to hear about it.

Yes it will. But some fonts look weird not very often but some do. In the preview what you see is what you get at reboot. I've only seen it once but it may have been a bad file.
This is the only font I personally use. It looks great in adw too. And its kinda like arial narrow so more fits into the screen width wise. Its also nice and sharp. I'm obsessed with it.
G2x with CM7 and faux .18 kernel. [email protected] 5091 quadrant.
This works great on Note:

It works great but many screens are not Note-friendly due to the resolution :-(
Very nice App. MIUI Lockscreens are the best. But I tried about 10 different mtz - and not even one has been displayed correct. Someone should customise some locks for this resolution
I tried it and it froze my phone. I had to pull the battery to restart it.
I prefer my stock lockscreen but thanks for the info
can we have the data monitor app from MIUI?
have you guys tried the lidroid rom yet, check it out it has 5 lockscreen mod in it.

I have tried out on G-Note. Not working properly, it installs, but due to high resolution, some themes are not working ( showing small icons etc.), thanks any way for your work.
go locker suits me the best.... using it for more than 20 days , better than the stock lockscreen
Go locker has a issue when using headset and changing song threw headset button, it refuses doubble clicks, so you end up pausing the song all the time, no fun..
Works well this, I have made the default MIUI lockscreen 'English' and changed some of the wording and how the date reads to read more, erm, English
Just unzip and place in the themes folder of the MIUI folder on your internal storage.
Not all themes work, but there are plenty which do... I have ICS theme working perfectly on my note...

There was a same problem with golocker but they fixed it with an update. I think MIlocker hasnt. This happens with just note and S2.

But now I use MiLocker! Tons of themes!!!
OK some don't work, but the ones that work are FANTASTIC!

Since it is pretty easy to get into the beta now I won't continue this anymore.
Just write them an email to [email protected], within a few days you'll get an invitation to join the beta program.
If you have rooted your phone use this to prevent Z Launcher from detecting root: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.devadvance.rootcloak
I finally made it, the Nokia Z Launcher 0.3.2 is "cracked".
After a few hours of looking through the obfuscated smali code I removed the root check and the Nokia log-in requirements.
This time it was a lot easier and took me only a few minutes since they didn't change anyhting on the checks.

I didn't do anything. I got them right after starting the launcher. As far as I know Z Launcher tries to import them from the standard Android Launcher.

U sir are awesome.
Update!
New version is ready for you to download. This time I skipped all the debugging output so maybe it will be a little bit faster then.
Locked and loaded. Been an action launcher user for 8 months. This is my new launcher not going back. Works flawlessly so if this is an alpha version there are big things ahead for this launcher. Thanks again for doing this for us.
i cannot go past the start button, the app closes... any idea why?
Maybe you are running ART?
Many thanks this is running much better for me
Nop, i aint running ART
I just had the same problem. Had Custom icons for a second, default one fixed this for me if it helps
Not sure if this will help but as a baseline I'm running a Note 3 with no JB in it runs flawless.
All is good on claoudy3
