[APP] TenInchLauncher - Get 10" apps on phone & 7" tablet! [4.2 w/o SU, 4.3 with SU]
Description
This app allows you to run apps on your phone (experimentally) and 7" tablet as if you have 10" tablet!
No more YouTube without related videos, no more phone-ish Play Store. All you have to do is tap the application shortcut. The display settings will be reverted as soon as the application is closed or hidden. Enjoy!
Also, unlike with all those DPI changers and switchers (such as LCD Density Modder that soft-bricks Jelly Bean devices), no root is required on Android 4.2 (but on 4.3 it is) and no brick can happen. If you experience any issues, just reboot your device and you are good to go.
This was built for Nexus 7 specifically, but should work on any device with Android 4.2+ as well.
Here are some examples (before and after):
YouTube
Google Play Store

On Google Play
Changelog
Code:
1.5:
- New option added to enable 10" mode automatically on device startup
- Added Android 4.3 compatibility for rooted devices. I am terribly sorry, but Google has made some changes and there is no way to do it without root anymore. But do not worry, it is still 100% safe. No brick risk included.
1.4:
- Experimental phone support. Get tablet YouTube on Nexus 4 and others!
- Initial 30% off sale for (not only) phone users
1.3:
- Global 10" mode was improved, so launcher icons should no longer overlap
- Dramatically improved reliability of Quick launch apps and Shortcuts cleanup, so it shouldn't get stuck in 10" mode anymore
1.2:
- Added option for those who have experienced keyboard issues
- Huge first week sale is now on!
1.1:
- Clean-up process improvements

Any way for this to work on a phone, to make it think we're on a 7" or 10" tablet?

Well, I have no device to test it on, but if you are willing to test, just try it .

Oh, it seems that TenInchLauncher has its first review . Google Translate needed .

AW: [APP] TenInchLauncher - Get 10" app layouts on your 7" tablet! No root required!
Can you explain what this app do?
I mean, what do you modify?
Only the dpi?
Wondering that's not require root.

Well, check the screenshots on the top . Some apps have richer layouts for 10" tablets than they have for 7" ones (I made this mostly because of YouTube, which sucks big time on Nexus 7). My app allows you to use the better layouts on smaller device with almost zero effort. That's it .

Why just for anddoid 4.2

I would like to use in [email protected] Already have CM10.1/4.2 out but I still prefer 4.1/CM10
Ty.

Unfortunately, the methods I use are only available on Android 4.2. Maybe I can make some root enabled version for older Android, but cannot promise anything.

First update is up!
Changelog
1.2:

New update is live and kicking! Unlike this thread . Also, last day of huge first week sale is coming up. Don't miss it!

- Dramatically improved reliability of Quick launch apps and Shortcuts cleanup, so it shouldn't get stuck in 10" mode anymore

With the global Setting on the Nexus 7 the status bar is a bit cropped(as you can see on the clock and icons on the top right )
When you open the notifications panel, the statusbar is not cropped anymore because it covers a little whatever app you are

I'm still working on this. The status bar is a ***** . As well as the navigation buttons. But I beleive I'll find a way.

A pity it don't work in my RAZR Maxx with ICS. It should be of great use when I use it on Webtop 3.0 mode in my TV via hdmi 1080p.
Some apps opens in webtop mode in the same way as it opens in phone mode.
Your app could solve it.

Not sure if this app requires root, but if it does, there may be a better alternative.
The xposed framework mode has a module for app specific DPI setting which may be a better solution for those of you who want for e.g. the youtube app to always be at the 10" display mode. It is also reversible.
However, I must say this app is great for a myriad of other uses, the most prominent that comes to mind would be for app testing.

TenInchLauncher does not require root, and is not invasive in any way. That's why I made it. I have previously soft-bricked my tablet multiple times by using root-powered apps, and I just got pissed .

Hey everyone. Today I released a new version of my app, Tablified Market HD and I'd really like for you guys to check it out.
Tablified Market HD is the largest database of Android tablet apps. It is a curated list of apps that have been specifically designed to take advantage of the screen real estate of your tablet.
We've completely revamped this version with a brand new Holo interface. We replaced the aging list view with a beautiful, snappy grid view-similar to what the Google Play store offers. The UI itself was inspired from the Google Now cards.
We add apps constantly. Featured graphics are changes out every couple weeks and apps are added every 1-2 days depending on what we find. Remember, if developers don't make tablet apps, we have nothing to add.
I hope you enjoy my app!

I'd like to personally take Elias Manuel for coming up with the original concept!
Even tho you state that this is slow, its a really good app, thanks.

The site looks great and just downloaded the app so gonna give it a try when I get home. Maybe it could be possible to make notification in the title if an app is free or not.

Good idea but I can't download on the market for my Samsung Galaxy Tab
Not found in the market .pl. provide apk .

Of course the app itself requires Honeycomb, since "Tablet app" in Android means Honeycomb (or greater..). Shows up in the market here.
Personally I think if the Android Market or Appbrain app/site could showcase/isolate "tablet" apps it'd be nice.. Problem is it has to be somewhat human-sorted, you can have "tablet" apps that are not written for Honeycomb (Kaiten) or totally non-"tablet" apps written for Honeycomb (ie: newer SDK, but still not utilizing Fragments etc).

People will call anything with a large screen a 'tablet'. That's not what a tablet is IMO. You can't run a modified PHONE OS on a large screen and call it a tablet. A tablet is a large screened device that runs a TABLET OS. Though many of the apps found on Tablified do offer 'support' for those large screened devices, its geared toward tablets running an actual tablet OS. The Kindle Fire, while it has nice features, is not a full fledged tablet and that is why its not supported (unless you want to throw HC or ICS on it).
great idea
OP, any chance you can mark CM9 touchpad as compatible? Or at least post an apk.
Very nice app!
Agree with you
For some reason only the featured tab loads. But it also might be because Im on school wifi. Ill try again at home and report back.

Edit: Works flawlessly. Load times are a bit slow, but that's nothing to complain about.
Thanks for making this app!
works great, a little lag in loading but other than that nice app!

aSNAP lives up to its name; this application is lightweight, extremely snappy, functional, and easy to use.
It doesn't have a large interface, but within the tiny user interface is a screen capturing workhorse.
This application requires root for its underlying workings.
Features
- Floating screen capture icon
- Tap icon to take a screenshot
- Hold icon to select a region to screenshot
- Extremely intuitive, fast, and functional
- Ability to save & share the screenshot
- Adds the screenshot to the gallery
- Requires root!
The purpose of aSNAP is lightweightedness; its ability to quickly snap a part of the screen and share it is key to it's functionality and a fundamental reason behind its development.
Development:
Over the course of the near future, aSNAP will be in development and new features will be added such as extensive settings and new functions.
aSNAP Trial is limited to a maximum of 10 screenshots. Reinstalling the application won't reset this limit.

Agreed. One option that would make it perfect would be the ability to move the trigger to the top right. I'm trying to take a screenshot of your sidebar app, but I can't.
I've tried several screen grab apps on my custom Kindle fire 2, and they all caused it to grind to a halt. Yours is working perfectly for some reason!
EDIT: Ignore my request above, it already works! Don't know why I couldn't before, but I can move the trigger button around. Love it.

@Mohammad_Adib I see huge potential in this app. It can replace the screenshot function on the Note series and TouchWiz roms.
Imagine if you can deattach the s-pen, select a region with it and screen shot it, and then draw right on the screen shot before saving or sharing.

@Mohammad_Adib - Any planned updates? Would be nice to have a "shake to capture" function and an auto-save feature so we can take multiple screenshots quickly (instead of pressing save/delete/etc). Other than that, good app. :good:
@Mohammad_Adib any chance we can have GB support?
I've paid for pro and the app is no longer on the market. Also, it asks for root on 4.4.4 when my phone is rooted and access is granted to the application. Is this application support dead?
is this not available anymore?

[APP][1.6+] TinyLaunch: New lease on life for old and slow devices

I was finding my Archos 43 Gen8 device with its puny 256mb RAM unusable with regular launchers so I decided to roll my own from scratch: TinyLaunch.
The main development rules were:
- use very little RAM
- run on lots of devices (all the way back to Android 1.5 -- the subject line is wrong when it says 1.6)
- get out of the way and avoid doing anything in the background while other apps are running
- run fast once it's configured (but currently the configuration app scan is slow)
- nothing extraneous--no pretty extra icons, no help information, and of course no ads of any sort (not even a link to my other apps--all that is wasted memory)
I plan for the apk never to exceed 40K. Currently it's 29K.
This is *extremely* low-featured. At base, it just presents a simple scrolling list of apps (with categorization features) with no icons (though you can turn on icons, at the expense of some speed: Menu, Settings). You tap on an app and there you are.
In particular:
- no widgets
- no shortcuts
These limitations may make this useless to you. But if you just want a list of apps for launching, e.g., on a device for your kids to play with, TinyLaunch may be the thing for you.
The first time you run TinyLaunch needs to scan for apps. This is a very slow process on my Archos 43 (at least for apps moved to SD), though faster on modern devices.
By default TinyLaunch just shows a simple list of apps. Choosing Menu, Settings lets you include icons (slower) and a more standard tiled view (slower).
Instead of folders, I implemented a category system inspired by PalmOS, though with some variations (the main one is that apps can be in more than one category).
By default there are three special categories: All, Unclassified and Hidden. You can make some custom categories like "Games" and "Math and Science" by pressing MENU and New Category. To categorize apps, the easiest way is to switch the category to Unclassified (tap on the category selector at the top of the screen), and then long tap on an app to choose how to classify it. The app then disappears from the Unclassified category. Note that the Hidden category is a special category that hides apps from the All and Unclassified views (though a Hidden app can still show up in other categories if you like).

Can we have a screenshot?
I just uploaded a new version. This includes a more standard and less ugly tile view (but slower). And I included the screenshots in the post above.
Maybe you should put some steps for minimum memory use - medium memory use - normal ? Therefore this launcher might be used by other users who has a bit more ram? Btw, your idea is so nice and really suitable with google kitkat's idea "less ram, more work, high speed"

Thanks for implementing a light theme, unfortunately I just get a black screen with no text when I choose the light theme on my Nook Simple Touch with Android 2.1. Also doesn't work properly on my Archos A70 using 2.2 but works as expected on my Nexus 10 running 4.3. Do you think it could be an issue with Android 2.1 and 2.2?
EDIT
Light theme also not working properly on ZTE Skate running 2.3.

Working now, thanks.
Would anyone find this useful on a tablet and hence would like more than four columns of icons? (Currently the number of columns is hard-coded. It would probably add about 2K to the apk to make it more flexible.)
I added a feature that works sort of like a home screen. If you have a category named "Home" (capital H, everything else lowercase), then pressing the Home button toggles you between the Home category and the All category. So you can just put your most frequently used apps in the Home category. If you want a plain PalmOS-style launcher, just don't make a category with that name.
I added a very primitive toddler lock to TinyLaunch. If you turn it on, then the HIDDEN category disappears completely, and the access to all the menu functions disappears until you type "Not toddler". I use it on my Nexus 7 in conjunction with a restricted profile to make the Amazon Appstore (which I need to have available for the sake of the toddler apps that are tied to it) inaccessible to the toddler--I just set the Appstore to be hidden in TinyLaunch
i just got a new toy - Archos 70b Cobalt and wanted to thank you!
i change the homescreens on all my devices to some minimal ones like "search based launcher" and "organised drawer". while trawling the archos forums, i happened across your TinyLaunch. i like it so much that it has become the default launcher on not just my archos, but also my samsung galaxy ace mobile and nook simple touch ereader (with light theme).
i like what you have done with the Home category, and apps in multiple categories. i don't use/need any other features.

your white theme has white menu, which is nice. but the default black theme menu is white which seems to conflict.. might look better with black menu.

Would anyone find this useful on a tablet and hence would like more than four columns of icons? (Currently the number of columns is hard-coded. It would probably add about 2K to the apk to make it more flexible.)

rather than hardcoding, perhaps let the user enter a number? should be simpler and more flexible for different devices. my tablet particularly in landscape mode could use far more columns.
btw, can you tell me how to get those nice soft-buttons, on your screenshots, at the bottom? my archos has just the standard three jelly-bean buttons in a wide band. i could do with a thinner band, and few more buttons on it. or more preferably have the buttons on my notification bar, like on my nook.

This is an app for power users that miss the old good Taskbar, ALT-TAB shortcut, WIN+[n] shortcut or workspaces on their Android devices. PinTasking allows you to create floating shortcuts in form of pins, on demand and based on their current task and workload.
Features:
pin apps/tasks/documents to access them quickly from any screen and app
jump quickly to your most recent task
or your whole tasks history
doesn't restart your tasks under Lollipop like similar apps
[ROOT] Disable the app-switch-delay
extremely customizable
smooth & cool animations
Material design
integrate your browser in PinTasking to:
easily pin your browser whenever you open a link
collect / preload links without to leave an application
quickly share or open links in another app
works with nearly all browsers

It's possible with some limitations:
- no preloading / preopening (Quick opener mode) of webpages
- a click on Evernote, Google Docs and etc. will bring you to the latest document or screen of this app and maybe not to the document you actually pinned
- a few apps may reinitialize and lose text in input fields, scroll progress and etc. after switching to them
I'll implement a non-root mode if there're enough interested people that are okay with this limitations.
btw:
PinTasking is live on the Play Store:
wow, you added even more options!
nice update

Okay, I'll implement a non-root mode before or after the full release. May I ask you why folks with a rooted phone (?!) want it? I wonder if it's for security reasons? You can install the system helper by yourself with a root file explorer. Even system apps need a confirmation to gain root and the helper app declares only two additional permissions and shares them with PinTasking.
I am rooted but their are plenty of people who arent.
My phone is rooted, running plenty of rooted apps, and it says I am not and asks to install the helper or uninstall. Do I have to install the helper? I am on Android 5.1.1 HTC One M8.

This could help you:
1. Make sure that you haven't accidentally denied the root pop-up.
2. Restart the app and try it again.
3. It takes a while on Cyanogenmod to show up the root dialog. Tap "verify root" and wait 2-8 seconds.
I experienced the same bug once but I couldn't reproduce it and a simple application restart solved it for me. I'll look into it again.
Anyway, thanks for reporting.

hi ,
Your app PinTasking looks very interesting and practical .Thanks !
One issue i am trying to understand ................
I have Note 4 ( N910F ) rooted and on Lollipop 5.0.1
i installed your app from Play store, granted root access etc .
But i found app a bit confusing at first ( functions ..how to use etc ).
i uninstalled app ,as i wanted to see your video and then decide.
After watching video ,i was happy i understood functions better and reinstalled from Play store .
This time app was installed ,without asking again for root ( as in 1 st time when i installed )
It is working fine ,tested it rebooted etc ,but PinTasking does not show up in Superuser..?
However ,whilst typing above ,i had idea and went to PinTasking /Root helper installer and reinstalled
helper then was ask for root access etc ,( even though it was never uninstalled ,as i could see it in Titanuim )
and activated it ,and now app shows up in Superuser .
I have solved my issue ,but want to bring it to your attention.
Very impressed so far with apps.........practical /functional uses !
good luck

Hi!
MouseMote turns your phone into an airmouse. This means that the app allows you to control your computer mouse by moving your phone around the air. It uses the motion sensors in your phone to detect the angle at which you hold your phone and translates the movement into mouse movements. In essential you are able to use your phone kind of like the Wiimote.

Not working on Samsung galaxy note n7000 mousemote server is running on windows but it can't connect on wifi nor bluetooth, "cannot connect on server" message is displayed on the app.
I'm running CM13; maybe it only works on stock roms?
Good job!
Just tested app on my Note 3 LTE Unofficial CM 13.Mouse cursor always have glitches.I was using Wi-Fi for connection.

We have not tested the app with custom roms so we do not know if they have any effect on the functionality. I will send you a message shortly so we can investigate further

Is the glitching happening with both touchpanel and airmouse? If so, using bluetooth connection may work better.
If the glitching is happening only with the airmouse, it is because the motion sensor signal is not good. Calibrating the sensors may work. Here is a video that shows two ways of doing that:
Woah, cool app.
