Aqua Mail questions - Android Apps and Games

I tried this email application when I heard it was similar to K9 in features but had a much better looking interface.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.AquaMail
But while it was easy to setup Push for my Gmail accounts, I don't get the same option when trying to setup Push for my Live or Hotmail accounts. Is this not possible?
Also, I can't find an option to mark emails as "SPAM". I can only delete them. Any ideas?
Edit: Okay I uninstalled & reinstalled the app and added my Live account first. Now I get the option for Push and use it. But it's not behaving like push. Takes awhile to get notified of emails, while my Enhanced Email app gets notified immediately. I just wish the EE app wasn't a battery hog for me on 4.2. It was great on 4.1 Android.

[Q] Google Mail isn't that good - any way to improve it?

While I think the Google Mail app is ALRIGHT I think it needs quite some improvement so I am wondering if there is either a good alternative to it or if someone added features to it / modded it.
1) problem:
i can't select any text from any emails (written by others or myself) which isn't too great when writing emails.
is there any app for selecting text maybe? it's something i miss a lot on android. if i want to select text on a website I need to switch to Skyfire.
I just can't believe coding a text selection is really hard so I don't understand why google didn't add it themselves yet.
2) problem:
when I'm on the go and sending an email and the CONNECTION dies for a moment the Google Mail app will be stuck at "Sending..."
I guess it is stuck in a loop then and it won't send out my email but I also can't go back so I can only close Google Mail with a taskmanager.
Can't this be fixed, too?
I just want a GO BACK feature so that it won't get stuck in a loop. Maybe just an automatic Save Draft just when someone clicks Send and then goes to the Send process and then you get the option to force close that and just go back- I dont know.
not sure what phone you have or what apps come standard so.....
i dont use the gmail app period. turned off notifications and disabled gmail sync in the sync menu. I use the regular Mail app that came standard (HTC Hero) for all 3 of my email accounts, yahoo, gmail, and hotmail. never have any problems out of it.
EDIT: Mail app will select text and if connection dies when sending mail, it will pick up where it left off when the next scheduled sync takes place.

I too use the default mail app (this time CM6 on a nexus1), but if you don't like that one you might want to check out K9 Mail. I think its free from the market (or various places online if you don't have access/market enabler).

[Q] Email Client?

The installed email client (not gmail) looks decent but fails to support TLS as well as map folders such as Trash -> Deleted Items. I read the forums and noticed that Google neglected mapping issue since 2009!
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1811
I tried K-9 Mail for my IMAP email and found it to be quite decent but have a few issues:
1) Is there a widget that can display unread e-mail just like the default one? or last 3 e-mails display?
2) Can I replace the icon?
3) Is there a roadmap to include like a two-pane display like the default email client? Or another email client that is Honeycomb optimized?
4) Is there a way to disable the default e-mail client service since I will be longer be using it? Do I have to care about such services running in the background?
Thanks in advance!

Try Kaiten mail from the Market. It's based on K9, and made by the same person. Has the split pane thing. Little less polished than the stock offering, but the feature set more than makes up for it.
As for disabling stock, I guess just delete the accounts - shouldn't take up any resources that way. Or, go the whole way, and root your Transformer, then you can delete the Email.apk
+1 on Kaiten Mail. 4 updates in the past week - the developer is on top of it, and responds to emails. It's much more polished than it was 2 weeks ago.
Didn't know about Kaiten! Thanks! Hopefully it has the folder mapping. I guess I can find out by trying it for 15 minutes.
Do you know if there is a widget that would work with it?
+1 on Kaiten.
I don't think there is a widget for it. I wish there was...
There is no widget, and I've asked the dev about this - he has got some higher priority additions to make, and will hopefully have a widget done over the summer.
Well, despite rebooting working for me as mentioned above.. it appears as though a problem has crept in with the Asus email app.. basically if I have the transformer's WiFi sleep policy set to "WiFi off when screen off" then the Exchange push email config I have with my gmail stops working.. a reboot fixes it, but I know that this was working before...
The only thing I can think of trying is deleting my email setup and re-applying it - which I've done now.. will see if that cures anything but not holding my breath..
Anyone else using Exchange sync (to gmail) with the Asus email app.. and the same WiFi sleep settings?
I'm trying out Kaiten mail as well. Had some definite enhancements over K9 though some little glitches. For a dollar over the weekend in the Market it's worth playing with. Think i still prefer gmail app bc I got used to the convenience of the conversation style grouping which I find very handy for reviewing strings of messages. Hope to see Kaiten mail evolve as I'm sure it will.

Newbie to custom roms.. question about email and accounts

Hi everyone!
I just successfully rooted my HTC Sensation 4G and installed cynogenmod (HyperSensation-CM7.1-v1.2).
Everything seems fine so far, but I'm confused about the default included 'email' app. Is this the google-made gmail program or something different? I expected once I set up my 'account' upon initial startup, clicking on this e-mail app would 'just work' and pull up my emails, but instead it started asking me for email account details.
Should I download 'gmail' from the market? Is that what I really want?
Also, I'd like the swype-like functionality back on this keyboard, but don't know the best way to get that back. Any help would be appreciated, as I can't post to the cynogenmod thread yet.
Thanks!
Most roms have 2 Email Apps, one is Gmail, the other is Email.
If you use Gmail for your email address (i.e. xxxx.gmail.com), then you should use the Gmail app which some Roms include and can easily be downloaded from Android Market.
If you use a pop email account, like yahoo or hotmail, then for those you don't use the Gmail app, but can use the other Email app. You can also download other Email apps from the Market, like K9 or Enhanced Email, for this purpose too.
Excellent, actually once I started 'restoring' from my google account, it downloaded gmail for me automatically and that's working like I expected. Thanks for the help.
Any idea on the swype keypad functionality?

Sometimes, the original is better

I recently purchased the Moto G 4G LTE and have been having a blast with it. It was simple to unlock the bootloader, add TWRP, and root the device. It was also simple to unbloat the device since it did not have much bloatware on to begin with. Over all I am really pleased with my purchase.
I did change out the SMS app because the original was very bland. However, the email app was driving me crazy. So I spent a better part of the day looking at the available free email apps to see which one I would prefer over the stock app. I was totally disappointed when I found that all the apps I tried did not work well with GMail. Each app would fetch the test mail from GMail and then delete the mail preventing me for using Outlook to download the mail to my PC. No matter what I tried, the app would either delete or "mark as read" and my Outlook could not retrieve it.
It seems the only email app that worked in keeping the GMail intact was the stock email app on the phone. But I don't like it because it does not tell me if it is sync'ing with the server and downloading or not. So I have no way of knowing except if an email is download it will give me a notification. It won't even give me the last sync timestamp.
Anyone using an email app that works with GMail (retrieve but leave unaltered), AND, you can also download the email with Outlook?
What's wrong with using the actual Gmail app and syncing on your Outlook?
There's going to be a combination of Gmail POP3 settings and mail client settings that will determine if a message is deleted from the server or not upon retrieval.
I use the free version of Maildroid, it works great with what I use, being Outlook, MSN, and Gmail. Puts everything into one place.
I don't understand why, but the OEM email does not affect the mail on GMail. When I access the mail and download it to my phone, I can then access the same email from Outlook on my PC and download the same mail. But using other applications like K-10 and Aquamail, when I download the mail to my phone I cannot access with Outlook on my PC. So the other mail programs must be doing something that the OEM email app is not doing. Strange. I have also tried some different settings in GMail to no avail.
I cannot comment about the apps that you have mentioned, but providing the app that you choose uses IMAP then the various email clients should maintain synchronization with each other. @Darkshado mentioned POP3. I used to have problems with Hotmail using POP3, but since they implemented IMAP the problems have disappeared. I can confirm that Maildroid works correctly, you can choose in settings whether or not to delete messages off the server.
Thanks for the tip on Maildroid. That works for me. Much appreciated.
Glad to help. I just wish that is was cheaper, but I hardly notice the ad's at the bottom anymore
I am surprised the other apps that you tried have problems, I was thinking that you had made a mistake in the configuration or something. We learn..... Cheers.

I have added AdBlock and the ads are gone. The other mail programs had all the same options but did not do what I wanted. Very frustrating because I liked their aesthetics. But like you said, live and learn...
I use K9. It's open source and has pretty advanced settings to manage synchronization and server actions. It takes some to to configure, but that can be an advantage...
K-9 was another one I tested that did not work for me. Appreciate the response though. Some of these mail programs look really nice. K-9 was one of them, I just wish it would not molest the mail so I can download it later into my Outlook mail for archiving.
Hi, Can you tell me which Adblock is the best one to use. I find quite a few on play store.

I have used Adblock Plus for the longest on my Firefox browser PC and Tablet. So I went with what I know best, AdbLock Plus ver 1.2.1. On my free apps I see absolutely no ads. Wonderful.
Thanks for the pointer. Apparently it's banned from the Play Store, no wonder that I didn't find it. I did try another one called Adblock which is on Play Store and it seemed to do nothing at all. Anyway, I have been using the one that you suggested for about a week now, and you are correct, no ads anywhere. No wonder Google doesn't allow it! Thank's..

Looking for an email app that works like Inbox for other third party email services.

So for a while, I was using Live Mail on my Pixel but then randomly after getting the oreo update the app itself just refused to function properly. I've emailed the developers of the app and they haven't gotten back to me about any possible future update to make it work again on the latest version. So I thought I'd come here to ask for an alternative option. I understand that the Gmail app lets you categorize third-party emails through it BUT it's extremely limited to only the 3 basic type of categories and even then it requires you to link your email up with a Gmail and even THEN it doesn't show the other emails in their own tab, it shows them all in the Gmail account you have it linked to combined with the email's emails too. And even THEN if you have multiple emails you have to make fake gmail link them all up properly to the Gmail app for that organization if you have multiple emails but only one Gmail. Live Mail organized my emails pretty darn well even if it had its issues, no app is perfect. Now, this is meant to be a thread asking for an Android alternative but if I must I'll use some kind of third party organizer like GetOrganizer.com or something tho I have yet to see that work for me honestly. I just want to get my inbox's organized again without requiring me to move everything around manually. I can't sit there for hours on end organizing an inbox one at a time when I have the Inbox by Google doing it for me in my Gmail account. ANY suggestions???
