Facebook Auth/Linking App? - General Questions and Answers

Basically any app that needs linking to facebook doesnt work.
SyncMyPix
HaxSync
FriendCaster
BlingBoard
Etc...
Tried wiping Cache and Dalvik
Tried Uninstalling/Installing Facebook
Tried Clearing Data/Cache of Facebook
Tried Adding/Removing account.
Please help. Thanks.

UP, anyone?

What do you want to link?
The official FB app can sync the contacts itself.
The pic quality will be bad though. So i use sync.me app for that.

this saves your SMS to SDCARD and then you can restore it to your device. its usable, if you often try new ROMs or other cases...
Just downloaded it only cause I like your kernels thought I would give it a run for you so here is my feedback
1. It does what says
2. Tested with texts unread and it keeps them backed up as unread a good thing
3. Its very fast backsup in seconds and restores as quick
4. Only thing I'm not keen on is it saves to root of memory card can in not be made to create a folder and save into that folder called SMS backup for example
Oh and this app would be perfect for my gf as she saves some msgs and it restores in the same format as it was in unlike some back up ones they store different and become hard to understand who said what
Also the delete all msgs works perfect did exactly that I reinstalled and deleted 7times no fails will carry on testing and will report back over if any bugs appear
From England with leedroid dhd techo!

that was really quick update you must be a god
V 0.4 works restores all messages but when you press delete all messages it starts then force closes go in to messages they appear to be gone but once phone reboots they are back only the the delete force close this app will be perfect
The feature that I really would like to have in a SMS backup app is the ability to backup as a nice formatted HTML file. Not a lot of apps have this feature and for those that do have, the generated HTML doesn't look nice at all.

Id suggest to provide an option to either backup to gmail or to sdcard.. have the user decide.

Request for app lock app that prevents uninstalling apps

Something got in me that since i only use swipe unlock in my phone, someone could easily open it, drag an app to the "app info" icon and hit uninstall just for the fun of it. Paranoia got stronger since half my class are bullies, and, well you know the rest.
I searched play store for "app lock" and i saw several good ones but they dont mention anything about locking uninstallation.
Id be glad if someone helps me.

App lock does lock uninstalling apps. You will need to lock the package installer. It's under advanced settings.
This is the app I'm talking about.

think as if a parent gave a phone to a child but didnt want the child to remove apps!
nee a way to prevent the uninstall from application manager and app store.. maybe even hide them from application manager and app store

XDA Android Phone App Issues

Hey guys I've been having serious issues with the app on my Sprint Galaxy S3. I've sent several comments via the report when the phone crashes on my phone. Sent direct emails to the dev's via the play store, and now to you guys. I only get notifications when my phone is restarting, when I pull down the notification to see the thread that was commented on, it never opens and crashes. When opening the app itself, you have to shuffle and find through the forums to find the forum you want to get to. The favorite options don't work. Only on some forums can you reply to, some you cant. Would really like it to just work.
Thanks

That's true. I haven't rooted or unlocked a phone since my GNex before the 4.1 update so I can't say in this case.
I wouldn't go deleting any pre-installed Google apps though. If that little bit of space is really gonna help you, you should reconsider the amount of stuff you store on your phone.
On a STOCK ROM I delete:
- Books
- Calculator ( i use Cyanogenmod calc: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android2.calculator3&hl=it)
- Chrome because 25-30% battery usage and high ram loads (Boat browser pro)
- Drive
- Earths
- GalleryGoogle (quick pick)
- GenieWidget
- Gmail ( i use boat's bookmarks)
- GoogleCamera (Camera zoom fx)
- Google Ears
- Google Hindi Ime
- GooglePinyinIME
- GoogleHome (first i install Nova Launcher Prime then i delete it)
- Hangouts
- HPPrintPlugin
- iWnnIME
- iWnnIME_Kbd_White
- Keep
- KoreanIME
- Magazines
- Maps
- MediaUploader
- Music2 (Poweramp Pro)
- Photos
- PlusOne
- PlayGames
- QuickOffice
- Street
- TagGoogle
- Talkback
- Velvet
- Videos
- Wallet (my bro buy me apps on playstore xd)
- Youtube (use the browser)
Also, After first setup wizard, after first boot, I delete:
GoogleBackupTransport
GoogleFeedback
GoogleOneTimeInitializer
SetupWizard
source http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Barebones
then I reboot and wipe cache & dalvik-cache from recovery
I delete also, but You can also only disable:
CloudPrint
GoogleTTS
EmailGoogle (bookmarks or k-9 or cloudmagic)
LatinImeGoogle (depends by the rom) (before its removal please install an alternative like Swiftkey)
SunBeam & livewallpapers
Dreams
PrintSpooler
For AOSP ROMs (e.g. Rastakat) I simply flash BaNkS minimal gapps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/gapps-t2012857
and delete
(from /app and /priv-app folders)
Browser (boat browser)
calculator ( Cyanogenmod calc: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android2.calculator3&hl=it)
Gallery2 (quick pick)
Galaxy4
Camera2 (camera zoom)
livewallpapers
aospLatinIme (swiftkey)
Launcher provided by the dev, googlehome or launcher3 ( install Nova Launcher first!)
videoeditor
picotts
PhotoTable
PhaseBeam
MagicSmokeWallpapers
LiveWallpapersPicker
LiveWallpapers
HoloSpiralWallpaper
email (bookmarsk or k-9)
tag
Also, After first setup wizard, after first boot, I delete:
GoogleBackupTransport
GoogleFeedback
GoogleOneTimeInitializer
SetupWizard
onetimeinitializer
and the /tts folder in /system folder
then I reboot and wipe cache & dalvik-cache from recovery

but you won't notice any differences in terms of speed with a phone like this

I don't delete anything myself. If you stay with the stock rom you will not be able to flash OTA zip files in recovery if you delete apps in the system unless you first flash the system image with fastboot. Another option would be to put the number 1 at the end of any file name which would in effect make the system not see it. An example would be Chrome.apk1. Then to flash an OTA you could rename it back to the original. Another option would be to use Xposed Framework with the paid version of Greenify which would give you the ability to hibernate system apps. I usually see 1.4+ GB ram available right after boot.
Greenify + Bootmanager?

Just curious why you'd remove HTC TV? Without it, you have no method of using the IR blaster, and free apps that work as well as it does are tough to find...legitimately.

Why does everyone remove the Verizon apps?! Without them what's going to slow down my phone??!!!! And as jbarcus commented, yeah, this download is going SLOW...dev-host must be getting hammered or something, and the mirror doesn't work (public/everyone wasn't given access to the mirror location apparently).
Also, coming from the Galaxy Nexus, I'm used to also having to flash gapps for nearly every ROM. I've noticed that's not a requirement on any of the M8 ROM's (at least yet), is there a reason for that? I understand they're baked into the ROM, I mean why are they able to be included in these ROM's, but not in the majority of ROM's for other devices like the GNex? (Sorry to ask an off-topic question, feel free to ignore if nobody wants to answer.)
Only thing I've noticed is the CPU seems to be locked at 2.2GHz.. I know it's not much but I think it should be running at 2.5GHz.. .

Carrier specific skin roms typically don't need gapps as they include everything they need. This includes sense TouchWiz blur etc. Aosp roms across all devices do need gapps though.

Reason for removing verizon apps because you can find them in the play store. Most Verizon apps are useless too, for example Verizon navigator is a wannabe Google maps and VN charges when GMaps is free.
As for gapps being included in sense Roms and not AOSP Roms. http://m.androidcentral.com/google-discusses-cease-desist-order-cyanogenmod

Only thing I've noticed is the CPU seems to be locked at 2.2GHz.. I know it's not much but I think it should be running at 2.5GHz.. .

The stock speed for the US versions is 2.3GHz (2.265GHz rounded up to 2.3GHz).
The AnandTech review puts it well "In most parts of the world the M8 will ship with a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801. In Asia/China however we’ll see the 2.5GHz MSM8974AC v3 SKU instead."
