People have too much money....when i was a kid the cool thing was shoes and clothing.. had to have the most expensive or new shoes to be a cool kid.... now its phones lol.
Im not complaining though because...
"One mans trash is another mans treasure, what he don't appreciate the next man will."
I stay behind a few generations on products usually ..that is how i've always been with computers and parts .. back in the day it was more out of necessity.. all i could afford was hand me down computers and second or third gen parts.
So i guess by the time i own a gs3 there might be a gs 5 or 6 or some other new thing i can't imagine ...lol
And um spec overkill is nice for people like me...probably helps push competition and advances in tech too, until a wall is hit or some totally new tech comes out to end or replace it.
I hope the S4 use software button and doesn't have cheap plastic that make the phone feels like a chinese knock off

I hate software buttons all it does is wear on the fken screen and is annoying hope they still use hardware

Sounds like S3 meets Xperia Z to me!
Samsung can use soft buttons and I will still upgrade from my I9000, so long as they don't do like what we're seeing the other OEMs are doing and add a huge flap at the bottom on the phone.
If the S4 really is gonna be 5'' there really shouldn't be a need for the extra flap unless it's used for hard buttons.

Without that bezel (or flap as you so weirdly call it) theres more screen for the phone to impact on when it drops, that makes the display easier to crack, the little bezel on the s3 barely protects that thing from falls, but hey if you're a case man, no problem for you

"Quad-core 2 GHz Cortex-A15" ...and then you woke up, Do you actually think they can fit a tablet CPU inside a phone? The nexus 10 battery can barely take 1.7 ghz A15
amazing phone
14th march is the probable release date. I'll be launched at an event in New York.
Better gallery
It will have a better gallery.

should have soft buttons
I like the larger display and I know there needs to be substantial battery capacity. I'm tired of buying thin phones needing larger batteries. If I wanted style over function I'd buy an iphone.

Hey guys, I am new to this forum and I am looking for some opinions. I currently have a Nexus One which I have had for a year now on T-Mobile's network. I really don't have too many complaints about the phone or the network. I'm currently thinking about getting the Nexus S and was wondering if anybody out there has had both phones and has any good inputs or reasons why I should/should't get the Nexus S. Thanks for all of your opinions. It is much appreciated.
Nate
FYI: T-Zones 5.99 plan doesn't work on the Nexus S but does work on the Nexus one. Not steering you away from the Nexus S.
I love my Nexus S. The screen is great and the multi touch is actually multi touch.
Let me say this... I'm holding both in my hand right now, and you can easily tell the difference in speed / gorgeousness / etc.
Nexus S hands down. Way faster, way smoother, way sexier, and it's the new Google phone.
I have Att nexus one and i bought the Nexus S for my mom for Christmas. I'll list the pros and Cons.
Pro:
Better and Bigger screen.
NFC (useless for now)
Real multi touch
Faster CPU and Better graphic
Front facing Camera
Louder Speaker
Cons:
A bit more thick ( a little fat on the bottom)
Made out of plastic and no its not fantastic.
No trackball or notification. (you'll might not miss it)
no 3 pin dock like the nexus one ( con only if u have a N1 dock)
If I were you I would just keep the nexus one for another 3-4 months. There is almost no reason for you to waste 500 plus on a new phone when the nexus one is still pretty rock solid. Also the new dual core phones are coming out and nexus s will feel like wasted money.

The only dual core phones that are 'definitely' coming out are Tegra2's which is about the same power as a Hummingbird. By the time a Snap Dragon Dual Core or Orion dual core comes out, the next Nexus phone will be in production. At the end of 2011. Even then, I don't see how the Hummingbird will be phased out. Google barely has proper hardware support for the GPU and it's still buttery smooth. Once all the kinks of the Hummingbird are worked out and the optimized Honeycomb or 2.4 comes, it'll be even further buttery that dual cores won't even mean anything unless you're trying to play a Doom 3 port.
The Nexus S will be the best phone until the next Nexus phone comes out. That is if the next Nexus has a Super Amoled or better and has 4g and a dual core. Otherwise, the Nexus S would still stay better.
But going even further, the device is all personal preference, for instance, here are my pros and cons:
Pros:
Better, bigger screen. But not too big.
Super AMOLED, much more solid colors.
Better viewing angles.
Faster CPU
Superior GPU
NFC Chip
Latest Google updates
True, accurate 5 finger multi-touch (I shoot railgun shots in quake3droid with it)
Front facing camera
Far superior speaker quality and loudness
Made out of plastic, feels slick and is very light.
A bit bigger and pronounced in the hand.
No pointless trackball.
No annoying notification LED.
Screen feels much more smooth.
Far easier to type on.
Much better battery life.
Live wallpapers don't make it sluggish.
Much better haptic buttons.
Cons:
No External SD Card.
no 3 pin dock like the nexus one ( con only if u have a N1 dock)
Also, better earpiece, Mic, and speaker on n's.

I agree with you on the Tegra 2.
From a cpu perspective it's very similar to the 1ghz chips already out there. The dual core give it more horsepower to process information from cameras up to 18MP and provide a full 1080P experience.
The Tegra 2 is decent but there are other dual cores coming out soon that put the smackdown on the Tegra 2. For example, the Samsung Orion is one to watch. In terms of pure triangles per second count, the Tegra 2 can do 90 million while the Samsung Orion can do 450 million. That's 5X more graphics power.
Then of course we have our good friend battery life. Tegra 2 is capable of achieving 140 hours of continuous audio on a standard 2000mAh battery, while the dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragons and Samsung Orion, as well as OMAP4 are achieving 120 hours, but from a 1000mAh battery.
Really what makes the Tegra 2 special is its the first dual core to come to Android, but it won't be the last or best.

Yep. This is why I'm hoping the next Nexus is Qualcomm or Orion. Hopefully Orion. Other than that, I don't care about any dual core phones.
This being said, they never even confirmed that the Orion would be used in cell phones. It will probably be in the next Galaxy Tab though.
So the Gal S 3 jsut got leaked:
Quad core Exynos
12mp rear
2mp front
1280x720 Super AMOLED
16gb expandable to 32
This is gonna be a touch one. 4.7in screen on the S3 is gonna be big, so I'm totally on the fence now.
http://www.techshout.com/mobile-phones/2012/25/samsung-galaxy-s-3-gets-benchmarked/
I was thinking about holding out for the S3 but I think 4.7 is just too big for my tastes (and hands). The 4:3 of the One S seems about perfect for my hands. Bought one today figuring I can return it in the 15 days if the S3 turns out to be killer but I think the size alone has me sticking with the One S.

I'm pretty sure the Exynos 4212 is a dual-core chip (that's what google says, at any rate)

Same here. I just cant imagine using a 4.7 inch device. 4 inches was perfect for me, and 4.3 is pushing it.

Hmmm youre onto something here. The 4212 is indeed a dual core, so something's up with the reports. But I cant imagine a dual core 1.4ghz destroying a 1.5ghz dual core S4 chip, atleast not by 2x. But I just ran Antutu and got about 7500. S3 is at 14000
Also haven't the previous GSIII leaks been of quad core chips?
Edit: also the 4212 is clocked at 1.5 ghz, why is this reporting it at 1.4?

Seems like AnTuTu didn't know what to label it as so they called it a 4212.
Built quality on One S is similar to Nexus One and its the best on the market....S3 will be plastic probably, 12m camera means ****, display is still pentile (probably)
I took care of my dilemma by unlocking, rooting, and ROMing my One S.
I cant be convincing myself that 4.7 inches is acceptable size for me. It just isn't. And to be honest, there's only so much you can do with a phone's speed before you're at the mercy of your data connection. I can't honestly see what I'd get out of the SGS3 that I wouldn't on the One S. Sure, a better screen maybe, but even then, there's only so many pixels you can fit before it doesn't matter.

My motto is unless its a RUU, leaks are rumors! Lol i have saw the S3 Having 12- MP with 2Mp front, 8M with 1.3 front and the updated eynos or whatever. What will be funny is when they release it and its dual core because LTE can't handle quad core. Or when it comes out with the same specs as the one S.
ERASED
S3 will kick ass of 95% of the phones out there when released but bottom line will be how practical it will be to use on a daily basis, size and overlay wise.
S2 was the same...spec wise it was awesome but the size let it down for me, thin yes but not comfortable to hold and touch wiz overlay was rubbish compared to sense.....s3 will be the same.
If you want to get caught up in the 'specs race' then go for it but you will no doubt end up in the same boat as the one x with either poor battery and the device will not last a day or once the novilty is over realise that 4.7 inch screen is just too big for 90% of people to use.
Just my opinion.
The One X was too big just as the Samsung S3 will be too big. Looking at the One X section it didn't bother many people so I guess its going to do very well.
At the end of the day the One S is just the right size for me, I experience no lag and I don't really know when I'm going to use all the power as is?
Super Super Battery
I played with it today to test it out (im with sprint so i have to resort to the beautiful Evo LTE, damn) and wow!. Camera is awesome and best of all it had 27% battery after 1d 16h! WTF! wow. Cant wait to get mine where I can turn off the 4g! Cant wait for root!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just remember though, no community = no good ROMs. We've got 3-5 ROMs so far, but no AOSPish projects except CM9 in the works so far. The One X community is doing pretty well, although their community is in a tough position with the US AT&T version being a different architecture. Here's to hoping that a lot of dev on the Snapdragon-version One X will carry over to ours. I have a feeling it will....

The one S has been out for a while, but remember its not a flagship phone, so it may take a while for it to pick just as it has done other phones. It just came out in the USA so I would expect it to pick up soon. The desire had the same issue but they got dev. We also have 4 AOSP projects not 1.

Completely seconded.
Hehe. So, I am not the only one using that tactic.
1 - Only an 8MP camera
Nokia clearly set the industry standard with the 41MP sensor on the pureview. Anything under 30MP is just a joke now.
2 - Screen is simply a 720p Super Amoled instead of a 1080p Super Amoled PLUS
If i take a microscope to this phone i will see less pixels. And that makes me mad.
3 - 1GB of RAM? Seriously?
What is this 2011? I can't run GTA III, Gears of War, MW3, BF3, and Angry Birds Space simultaneously. This must be a faux-smartphone.
4 - It is too much like other successful phones
If it isn't completely different than its predecessors how will my friends know i got the newest model?
5 - Its made of plastic... Ew..
You mean if i drop this phone it WON'T smash into 100 pieces?..
6 - The voice function is too much like siri
You mean we have to use natural language to communicate with our phone now instead of robot talk? My lord what were they thinking.
7 - Exynos Quad Core Processor at 1.4 ghz
The One X already released with a 1.5 quad core processor. Clearly because it has more hertz than we do its better. What a shame.
8 - TouchWiz still looks like TouchWiz
Why would they take one of the best android overlays and make it better? Why would they add these features without completely changing it beyond all recognition? I want to have to re-learn to use my phone.
9 - The front facing camera is only 1.9MP
See reason from point #1
10 - Its ug-ug-ugly
A physical button that is easy to find instead of an awkward software button on the screen? How could they consider this? Is this a cruel joke?
In conclusion Samsung is now a laughing stock of the mobile world. This phone will not sell at all. Joke is on them! After this terrible product they will simply never be able to recover.
I get what you're trying to say, but no matter what you say the sgs3 is a let down. Same as the 4s. It's a galaxy nexus with a 8mp camera, definitely nothing hype worthy or phone of the year worthy (like the sgs2)
As an sgs2 owner, i am upset by how ugly the sgs3 is.
What if i want a black one?
I can ignore all but this is most horrible smartphone i've ever seen... Samsung u screw up this one.
I had used softkeys on my S2 (AOKP rom) and I have to say that it was much better, than using hardware buttons. I really don't understand why they are forcing hardkeys.
Pentile layout is not a bad thing because of "If i take a microscope to this phone i will see less pixels", but it has no proper white opposed to S2's real white-white of its S-AMOLED-Plus screen
agreed. 1 GB RAm should have been 1.5 or 2. Touchwiz still looks like Gingerbread, 1.9 MP ffc, round up to 2 more like 3 or go to an envelope pushing 5MP, we're all getting tired of grainy video chats anyways. In going with the "Nature theme" I would have liked to at least see a solar charging "option".
Im not buying anything under 5 inches anyway.
The post was entirely sarcastic... at least I would hope

2100mAh should have been 3000 minimum at least.

Mine would be the Xperia Z, with the serial number on the bottom and bottom of the back removed, the volume rockers on the left side.
The LED notification light should be a wide bar on the bottom middle like on the Xperia ZL to keep it symmetrical,
It should have Samsung Galaxy S4's 5" Super Amoled display with it's spectacular viewing angles and saturated colors and under that, the 3 soft keys and the glass protecting the front and back should be Gorilla Glass 3
It sould also have the Octo-core processor of the international Galaxy S4 and it should also have the Xperia Tablet Z's double tap to wake feature since it has no physical buttons on the front.
It should have the Xperia Z's 13.1MP camera, but it should also be able to take 16:9 pictures in maximum quality, and a front facing camera that can shoot 3MP pictures and 1080p video for Skype and other video chatting equivalents.
It's available in 16, 32 and 64GB, and that memory is ALL available, and not 25% for software.
The plastic hexoskeleton that keeps the glass front and back together should be made of aluminium instead.
It should come pre-rooted with Android 4.2.2 with the latest build of ClockworkMod Recovery pre-installed and HTC Sense, TouchWiz or Xperia UI should be optional in both phone or phablet UI.
And last of all it should have a 3100 mAh non-removable battery with the possibility of wireless charging.
I'd pay anything for a phone like that!
Now tell me what your ideal phone would be.

No reasons, no points, no arguments .. just better.
For someone like me who keeps his tablet and phone functions to 2 separate devices, the Sony Xperia ZR for me is the perfect phone.
- it's beautiful physically, no cheap plastic like Samsung or trying too hard to be chic like Huawei. And it's not just another rectangular block of plastic. From afar, you can tell it's an Xperia, not a Samsung or Apple unit. Makes me stand slightly apart from the me-too crowd going ga-ga over the latest Galaxy or iPhone.
- waterproof up to 1.5m underwater, so you don't need to worry about the occasional spill or sweat in your pocket. Heck, Sony's ad for it even advertises shooting videos underwater.
- the 4.6" screen is big enough for viewing most texts/tweets/chat apps and still is handy enough for one-handed operation.
- 13mp camera! (are you listening, HTC? What's with a lame 4-mp camera on your top-shelf model? No wonder even your chief technology officer resigned!)
- 2gb RAM. Keeping abreast with the latest Samsung and even ahead of the iPhone 5's 1gb-RAM. If you like flashing things and loading up on apps, 2gb RAM is a godsend!
*Now for the fantasy phone: just take the Xperia ZR, bump the battery up to 3,000mAh, at the same time keeping the phone thickness to around 10mm
~put at least a 2-mp front cam on it
~at least 32gb internal mem, with expandable microSD up to 128gb
~put in air gestures so one-handed operation would be even more heavenly
~Corning Glass 3 shatter-proof glass

- waterproof up to 1.5m underwater, so you don't need to worry about the occasional spill or sweat in your pocket. Heck, Sony's ad for it even advertises shooting videos underwater.
- the 4.6" screen is big enough for viewing most texts/tweets/chat apps and still is handy enough for one-handed operation.
- 13mp camera! (are you listening, HTC? What's with a lame 4-mp camera on your top-shelf model? No wonder even your chief technology officer resigned!)
- 2mb RAM. Keeping abreast with the latest Samsung and even ahead of the iPhone 5's 1mb-RAM. If you like flashing things and loading up on apps, 2mb RAM is a godsend!

HTC was probably nearing the deadline and out of panic they slapped a 4MP camera on it and thought of a name that idiots would love to brag about xD
And BTW, 2MB RAM? I prefer 2000MB RAM

My heart perfect Android smartphones
■OS: Android 4.2.2
■CPU: quad core
■RAM: 1 GB
■ROM: 8 GB
■12 MP camera, full HD video recording, 8 MP front camera
■Battery: 3000 mAh
The most important point: the price below $ 200
I think I will agree with Xperia Z as the best smartphone for me. The only thing I'd add to it is a more powerful battery.

Why 1GB if RAM? 2 gigs at least for me
Also "quad core" is kinda vague. I'm thinking a snapdragon 800 would do the trick.
On a side note, there are actually a ton of phones that meet your criteria and then some (1080p screen anybody?) all for around $200. The catch? They're China knockoffs and have the mt6589 processor which, while it is quad core, is nowhere near as powerful as even a s4 pro, which is previous gen itself.

i prefer n4 flaws all the way over other phones with lag on the OS, hell no, i can´t stand lag and bloat, if i wanted lag i would buy another nokia, the true king of lag, non nexus android are just amateurs in lag
Introduction
In recent times, Samsung has been quite the aggressive company in its quest to bring the beloved iPhone to its knees, which is evident by the insane amount of commercial spots showing off how its Galaxy S4 is already the next big thing. For most of the year, it has proven to be a force of immeasurable power, as it has reigned supreme in the Android landscape – while also giving Apple’s pride and joy some much-needed competition. Now that the iPhone 5s is finally here, it’s not looking to mess around with the competition, seeing that it intends on bringing back the spotlight to Apple’s warm glow. Heading into that crucial holiday season, these two titans are hell bent on fighting against one another to claim victory.
Design
This is an interesting comparison, since the iPhone 5s retains its predecessor’s design to the teeth – so there’s nothing particularly new about it. Regardless of that, the iPhone 5s continues to be the more premium looking smartphone between the two, which is aided by its brushed aluminum casing. Compared to the Galaxy S4’s glossy plastic casing, the iPhone 5s also exudes the more sturdy build quality with its construction. And finally, when it comes to the in-the-hand feel, the smaller figure of the iPhone 5s enables it to feel more natural in the hand – whereas the Galaxy S4 is just one wide smartphone to hold. All the signs might point to the iPhone 5s as being the better looking device between the two, but the Galaxy S4 still has a pleasant design of its own too, though, personal preference becomes the deciding factor in which of the two is the more favorable one.
Although they share many common ports and buttons, each handset packs along its own unique set of goodies. Below the display of the iPhone 5s, its home button incorporates a nifty biometric fingerprint sensor dubbed Touch ID, which enables us to unlock the phone and confirm app purchases. With the Galaxy S4, it packs along a very useful IR blaster that turns the phone into a universal remote – a great thing to have when you can’t find the clicker. Lastly, the Galaxy S4 has an LED notification light and removable back cover that enables us to access its internal battery and microSD card slot.

They write one thing that is true for whole gayphone line. Like in design there is nothing new in next version its look the same and is same piece of junk like previous one

The closeness in specs is unbelievable, Apple's design thinking is basically if it isnt broken dont fix it (because its so exceptionally good, they cant improve). But how come you are still paying more for a slightly better handset a year later, with the one standout added feature a finger print scanner. Crazy.
The S4 may not have been the same revolution that the S3 was, but at least you get a larger screen, significantly higher resolution screen, higher MP camera, infrared, faster CPU, more sensors, significant increase in battery capacity, lighter slimmer handset...

Nothing will defeat the Xiaomi Mi3 at this moment ! ... iPhone the winnner ? lol seriously ? with all the crap inside ? LOL!
As a owner of both iPhone (not 5S) and S4 I can surely say if I have to ditch one phone then it'll be the iPhone. I used to love Apple, but for past 2-3 years they have become ridiculous. Releasing basically the same device over and over is just nonsense. It's more the OS which I hate though, restrictions and restrictions. You need to do so many things to do one basic thing. Damn it. Of course the UI is a lot fluid than Android, but overall for overall simplicity and openness I prefer Android.
From an admirer of Apple I'm becoming a hater gradually.

No offense but some Americans won't be able to tell the difference between first iPhone and the latest one, so no wonder that it'd sell that much
I like the A7 chip a lot better than Snapdragon 600. From realworldtech forum, A7's IPC is rven better than A57's. A7>A57>A15>Krait
Say what you will but Apple's CPU architects rock.

Yes exactly. They don't care what exactly has changed.
Just put an "i" beside any apple product and it'll sell like hotcakes. That's how strong Apple is. And It's not just in the US. The 5s is practically sold out in other countries where it was released.
In my opinion Android and iOS are great. Reason why I stick with Android is because I buy unlocked and carrier free phones. Android phones won't cause me an arm and leg to buy.

The iphone has 64-bit chips !!
man the 32 bit can't handle more than 4gb of ram !! they need a 64 bit chipset for handling the 512mb ram in an iphone
GS4 :good::good:
power saver mode has A7's
As a previous owner of both the I9500 and the I9505, now currently an iPhone 5s owner I can tell you this (in all honesty, my opinion)
S4 pros over 5s:
- Larger display
- android offers much more customizability.
- enhanced multitasking (multi window)
- expandable memory
- removable battery
- can download torrents, mp3 files
- file managers
- root, Roms, kernels and all that good stuff
- lots of free apps
5s over the S4:
- Much faster, MUCH more fluid
- lag free throughout the whole UI
- better camera (in my opinion)
- Touch ID (really awesome)
- IOS ecosystem is great, better optimized apps
- better GPU for gaming
- better build quality (no debate here)
- better value ( can sell my 16 gig 5s easily for 800$ now)
Personally I much prefer the 5s, the phone is pretty much flawless for what it offers. I definitely would prefer a bigger screen. As far as IOS being "lockdown" I don't mind because you expect it when you make a choice for IOS. So with that in mind the phone is just super fast. Last but certainly not least, the web browser on the 5s is...... Incredible.... No magnificent. I have never ever seen a phone that loads web pages this fast, it is as if all web pages are cached cause they just appear soon as you press the load button. That is really impressive.
