Samsung Galaxy S 4g
Softbricked when I mistakenly loaded the vibrant rom. I have been reading for hours on how to fix this. After dozens of tries I found the guide for loading (with odin) T959UVKA6_REV05_home_low_CL860813.
I did have re-partition checked when I probably shouldn't have. I was trying to load s1_odin_20100512.pit as well. Odin said the process was successfully run but when I tried to reboot my phone nothing happened. I can't get it to even boot to the download screen.
I've tried every combo in the book (including remove battery, plug in USB, hold volume up/down, replace battery). I've left the battery out for as long as 10 minutes too (excessive, I know) That worked at least a dozen times before but now my screen won't even start up.
HELP! What do I do?!

I think I am in exactly the same boat as the OP. What is the best way to resolve this? Bring it into T-Mobile? Send it in to Samsung somehow? Is there a number to call for warranty repair or something?
Sometimes ODIN will still see the phone even when the screen is totally black. If ODIN can still see it, you can reflash a good ROM ~ get it going again.

I did the same thing as the OP. ODIN wouldn't recognize the phone. Ended up letting it sit overnight and then ODIN worked.
If you are flashing ROMs you should probably get a jig.
This guy is a forum member and great to deal with. (can't post the link) go to mobile tech videos dot com
Leave the battery off for a few minutes. Try Odin 1.85 to see if it recognizes the phone

just curious what methode are you using to enter download mode? Did you try recovery for giggles?
i have tried both download mode and recovery and just trying to let it boot up normal and it will not do anything in all three just a black dead screen
Try leaving the battery in when you go to download mode. Also leave it in when flashing.
if it wont even power on in any way or go into the download mode you might be bricked...I did this before and I had to exchange it at Verizon..luckily since it wouldnt turn on they couldnt tell what I did to it...hope you can get your issue resolved
Ha a true brick. Finally someone using the terminology correctly. A buddy of mine has this happen with his galaxy s. He got it exchanged in store no questions asked. btw Sorry to hear about your phone

1/2 Brick
Hi
Sorry to hear about your issue. I am at half brick now. Been at multiple spots learning here but never completely no visability! 3/4, 7/8, right now in a flash it does not see my phone (no network) data side is fine but can not get or receive calls. It is not the SIM card (according to VZW). Data side works fine 4G etc, emails but no phone. A great PDA but not a phone. No one has answers but I belive to be a cp_modem.bin issue download hangs at around 98% in what does a boot 2nd boot on the screen in the download then says:
Wait, VIA Booting ..
VIA rest done. ..
Downloading to VIA...
To everyone the {Kangfuscius.tar} has helped me when I thought all hope was lost, even in a partial download it helped to bring me back.
Any suggestions on files for the phone tab in ODIN all I can think of is, it can't get worse. The FEDEX guy kow knows me by name between the Fascinate's and now I guess the Charge.
Any help appreciated,

I don't know why your phone is booting into 'VIA' mode and don't even know what that is so I couldn't say a fix other than odining the usual stock rom/pit combo (leaving the battery in when flashing in odin also and uncheck the 'auto reboot' option)... also phone tab/button is NOT supposed to be touched in odin, only PDA, PIT if needed, and Start
Where did it fail in the Odin flash? The only way you should be bricked is if it failed while flashing boot.bin or sbl.bin, otherwise, it should still go to download mode. Have you tried using one of the Force Download Mode jigs/dongles that the GSM models use to get into download mode?
i don't recall where it failed at but it will not not respond to anything with batt or without where can i find the gsm software i will give it a try before i call insurance a link or anything would be great
what gsm models are equivalent to the charge

SGS2 is not equivalent. Just search for galaxy s download jig and i'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about. It is the same thing for all the SGS phones, and some have said it works on the 4G versions of the phones as well.

Hi, I had the same thing happen to my first Charge. I could not boot my phone even to the samsung logo, so I searched around the Internet. Somehow I think it was the Captivate trick worked. I took out sim, battery, sdcard>plugged in usb to computer>held up and down volume together>put in battery; miraculously it went to download. I tried every other combination beforehand and none worked, so I know this method works.
Unfortunately this was before we had IMNUTS Pit file and a odin flash would not change anything so I could not recover and I flashed a Pit that was not for the Charge. Wrong answer! After that it was in the non-boot state again but the same method above would not work any longer. If your phone does not work with the method above, maybe something went wrong with the repartition and pit file. That is just a guess though!
well the jig hasn't worked yet i am running right at 300k tomorrow i am going to get a 1k and add that in also and see if that helps. also pulling all the cards and the battery didn't work either. this is not looking good i am up for any ideas that anyone has

Hey guys found a way to unbrick Samsung droid charge and revert back to stock.
1. Download and install Odin found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1085190 ) unzip and open
2.Download this file and unzip ( CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z) from here ( http://www.multiupload.com/6WJ2SFUKO6 ) or original thread where i found this file is from here ( http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-4...talling-guide/ )
3. set phone to download mode, do this by taking battery of phone, plug phone into computer and hold Volume down, a Yellow triangle with a working android will appear.
4. Click on odin you will see your phone come up under ID:COM, now do not click on anywhere but on PDA thats where you will have to find the file you downloaded on step 2 and make sure is the unzipped file. once u find it, click on open then start.
5. Be patient this can take up some time, once is done the box will turn green and say pass, at this time your phone will no longer have the Yellow triangle and you can unplug and place the battery back in and turn phone on.. once again be patient when turning phone on it will take a little while to complete.
i tried this and it does work, my Droid charge was bricked and now it works.
Thanks to xda-developers where i was able to find odin and also thanks to androidflip.com where i was able to find the Droid Charge stock rom to flash it back using odin.
Hope this helped everyone needing help.

Dustin, were you able to get it working? I'm in the same boat. Right after boot.bin it failed. Which was within seconds after hitting the start button in Odin. Verizon won't honor my warranty, because I didn't buy the phone from them.
Hard Brick Fixed
If you are truly hard bricked (no download mode, no power, no nothing), you can get it fixed for $40 at mobiletechvideos.com. I flashed a file that didn't work unless I took off the md5 extension. Big mistake. After trying absolutely everything, including surfing the internet for a day, spending almost $20 to get 2 day delivery for a USB Jig that did absolutely nothing, I sent my phone to mobiletechvideos.com. Josh brought it back from the dead; don't know how, but it was the best $40 I ever spent! I think there aren't any reviews because there haven't been enough newbies like me who just can't wait for Gingerbread and bricked their Samsung Charge. Putting my review there tonight...should be first one. The reviews from all the other phones he has unbricked convinced me to try and I'm glad I did.
Many people have hard bricked their phones trying to downgrade. Give the jig a shot, but don't hold out much hope.
Personally I think there is something being overlooked during the downgrade process... Too many people are hard-bricking during the process for it to be coincidence.
Oh yes

Doing so NOW! For the same issue. My PC decided to spontaneously reboot during ODIN while flashing a ROM on My Droid Charge. Josh was quick to respond to EVERY single annoying question I had about their service. So I am doing so. If it works, I'll tell you, I'm adding a link to their site in my signature on every forum I'm a member of, even forums I have for my daughter's schooling hahaha! They deserve the references just for being quick to respond. Thanks for the info man, props to you.
ODIN doesn't seem to want to install any kind of odin file that I put into it on my phone.
It gets stuck at dbdata.rfs and then it just remains there for over 2 minutes.
Tried to pop the battery back in once it got there, but that didn't work either.
Also can't get into recovery, by pressing volume down + power key.
You should know my phone died 2 days ago, and I used ODIN to bring it back to life. By died I mean it would bootloop to the recovery and then it finally gave me the bootloader=7 error after which it would just boot into the samsung recovery and nothing else.
Does this mean I will be stuck with a phone that I cannot root or backup or even install a custom rom?

try leaving the battery in for the whole flash, also recovery is volume up+home button+power
blazing through on my 4G Droid Charge
I also tried leaving the battery in for the whole flash process as well, for some reason ODIN is super slow even on my comp which is not the least bit slow for the specs(3.8ghz amd 545 with 4 gb of ram ddr1666) so I do not know why it would be so slow either. when the flash is done it says 134:00 minutes and whatever rom I flash doesn't actually get flashed, it just sticks to the stock ram.
i can't even install a recovery on the phone either, and can't even get root for some reason, maybe the one click root i am using might be outdated or something.
actually just tried to do the recovery mode, but it only got me to the samsung recovery not the clockworkmod recovery. even after I had a successful flash of the odin for the recovery portion.
Are you using the PDA section? Leaving repartition UNchecked?
i was using the phone section, but whats the difference, isn't it all the same? and yes i was leaving the partition unchecked.

that's your problem right there, DO NOT use any section except PDA and PIT for flashing stuff with Odin... try again with it in PDA and you should be able to boot into it and it'll work fine
PHONE SECTION = BAD! NEVER EVER use the phone section! It can cause some seriously bad issues, the most problematic being the infamous brick(unrecoverable).

That was a little mean on my part... But come on people, please read thoroughly through the tutorials, how to's, and OPs before posting about a problem. Actually even before doing ANYTHING to your phone. Use the search, it's there for a reason. Users and Devs have taken the time to compile all of this for you and you've just wasted their time and insulted them by ignoring it.
Ok. Done ranting. Thizzmaster, sorry for the outburst. For future reference always use the PDA section for .tar.md5 files for your Charge. It matters and there is a difference.
Last time i checked, Most of these superphones are actually super pda's with phone capabilities.
Here's the scenario.
I flashed AOKPb40 when I wasn't home. My phone was stuck on the Samsung boot screen. I tried 3 finger recov... no good. Still stuck on boot screen. Removed battery, waited a few minutes, 3 finger... still stuck on boot screen. I figured I'd wait till I get home and Odin back to stock. By time I got home my battery was dead. It wouldn't charge. It was on the charger for 2 hours and no go. I plugged the USB into PC and entered download mode. I figured what the hell... lets give it a shot. Launched Odin, started JScotts UCLB-Root-Modded Odin Package. Everything was running then... boom. Phone shut down right in the middle of FACTORYRFS. Pulled battery and tried the whole thing again... guess what... same thing. So I put my phone back on the charger and my screen showed a phone icon with a triangle with an exlcamation point and a PC icon. I thought "Oh Crap".
So here is how I fixed it.
I downloaded qkster's Heimdall One-Click package. I read up on how to use Heimdall and I was taken to a download page to download Heimdall suite. After many failed attempts to load the Heimdall package in Heimdall Front End, I kept getting a file size error. I googled the error and found qkster's re: to a guy with the same problem. Turns out the One-Click package is self executable, no need for the Heimdall front end suite. So I launched qkster's Heimdall package and it actually completed the flash! However, when the phone rebooted I was shown a partial CWM recov menu. I hit reboot and it kept taking me to the same CWM menu.
Now that I can get past the screen with the phone-caution-pc thing I tried using Odin with JScott's UCLB package. Odin finally worked all the way through, but with the same result as Heimdall, CWM Recov loop. I figured I was missing boot loaders. Flashed through Odin and still no good.
I now went all the way back to stock using GTG's Ultimate Unbrick. Voila! My phone is back! Holy toledo, 4 hours of trouble shooting and I finally have a working phone again.
Summary, Odin doesn't complete and you're stuck, here's what to do.
Use qksters Heimdall
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629079
If stuck in Recov loop. Use GTG's Ultimate Unbrick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
I hope my long painful recovery story will help someone out.
Sounds like you just needed an unbrick solution with a pit file for repartition. You could have used just the UCLB3 Unbrick with the pit file, and you would have been set.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705260
Still, glad you worked it out. This is why it's a good thing that we have many options that work via Heimdall and Odin. When one isn't doing it on your phone, just try another. We just have to be careful not to call our way of fixing it the only right way or the best way. Several ways exist, so we truly have an unbrickable device. Well, unbrickable as long as you don't bork a bootloader flash.
Edit: By the way, that phone-caution-pc thing is still download mode.

Well said jscott, and glad you got it working. I would also add, that it would appear from the initial symptoms, that maybe you just lost recovery. Several roms, including uniporn have packages that can fix that. In the uniporn thread it is in post 3.
Also, I think there is a good lesson here too for others and that would be that it would be extremely wise to know your way around Odin and heimdall before embarking on that very first flash.
Again, this is just for future reference should someone read this later on. Glad to hear you are back up and running.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
Good work.
As Yuma have stated, when you lost recovery, flashing this kernel would have brought you back to working cwm to flash the rom also:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25526654&postcount=3
And when you have completed the uclb3, you could have finished it with the boot loader flash and then do a factory reset. After that, flash which every insecure kernel to get back recovery to flash what ever you wanted.
As long as you can get back into download mode, you can use any of the restore process.
Thanks all for the follow up. The biggest problem was the dead battery. After I finally got this sicker up and running with the phone plugged in my battery was at 8%. The damn thing kept crashing while in download mode. But yes, this is not the only way. I had to use qksters heimdall to at least get the phone to boot. Once I got to boot into the recovery boot loop issue I used gtg unbrick.
If it wasn't for all the posts and threads from you guys I would've been screwed. Oh, and to top it all off, xda was down when I first started down the road. Long freaking day!

The first problem I had was Odin was crashing during the factoryrfs stage. That's why I tried heimdall. I just needed something to get loaded so I could start flashing. I didn't think about going straight to uclb, would've saved me a step or two

If you were using something like my earlier rooted UCLB3 Odin options, those don't have a pit. Those aren't intended as much as an unbrick/restore option as they are for a quick way to get to rooted UCLB3. Hanging on factoryfs.rfs suggests you needed repartitioning, and the UCLB3 Unbrick provides this, since it has a pit file. The other Odin package wasn't working because you needed a pit file to restore in your situation. That's why the GTG Unbrick ended up fully restoring your phone; it has a pit. It or the UCLB3 Unbrick should have worked to "unbrick" your phone right after the first failed Odin attempt. Also, as noted by Yuma and qkster, an option available before that first Odin flash was to restore just the kernel/recovery. That option became unavailable after the first failed Odin flash. Still, many options are available, and we're glad you found a combination that worked.

I have done everythig possible that can be done taking the battery out, charging it from wall charger and charging it from usb port. letting it wait for 2 days before messing with it. One day it went one step further to the white screen where the at&t logo forms and then it reboots again. I have not done a master reset or whatever its called because I want my pics of videos and contacts. The phone has been in the otter box from day one so it looks brand new and its over a year old. I could care less about the phone once I get my pics and videos off of it I will not mess with it again. Is it possible to save pics videos and contacts? I am not sure what you mean when you ask which ROM.

Okay, since you don't want to do your own thread. Read the information in the following link and follow it to the letter. This should put you back to stock and if everything works right, you will be able to get your info off the phone.

If you don't know how to put the phone in download mode, take your battery out, hold down the volume +/- buttons but no power button, put the batter back in and then plug the USB (connected to a computer that has the drivers from the link installed) into the phone. Do not disconnect the phone otherwise, you may end up with a brick.
Hello I have tried to avoid posting this at all cost, however after days of relentless research I have drawn a blank. I have a friend who had a Verizon Galaxy S3 and when he went to reboot the phone it went into a boot-loop. Before I had a chance to look at his phone, he took it into a place to get it looked at. After taking it there they returned the phone to him and said that it was hopeless and now the phone would not boot, vibrate, or go into boot into download mode.Soon after this he bought a S4 and gave this one to me. I want to fix the phone so that I can give it to my wife to use, however I need to try to get it going from there. I know that the boot-loop problem was caused from a bad power button, which I successfully changed out. The phone was operating on 4.3 and was never hacked. After many hours of searching I found some really good debricking information including the debrick file for 4.3. I was able to finally get the phone to boot, but not very far, all I was able to get to come up is the following on the Display and I also included a pic:
Boot Recovery Mode
Check Boot Partitions.
Copy from T-Flash.
Boot Recovery..
Write 159488 sectors.
FLASH WRITE FAILURE
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SCH-I535
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: None
QUALQUAMM Secureboot: Enable
Warranty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 1
This is the first instance when I have had to write a post for help and help I definitely need. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Thank you

Sorry forgot to mention that, yes I did try to use ODIN to flash the stock 4.3, when tried to flash, ODIN would come up with a fail every time. This is where I am really getting stuck. When I boot the phone with the SD card, the information that I gave earlier is all I can get the phone to do. I cannot flash anything to it and it will not go into download mode and I have nothing that I can select from on the phone. Thank you again.

Try to use Odin again and flash the pit file with Odin along with the stock image.

I'm confused what you're saying though, you can't enter download mode at all? That looks like you're in download mode.

There's no option in the recovery to boot into download mode? I had a similar problem with 2 older droids (Galaxy Proclaim and ZTE Merit). I screwed around and hard bricked one and soft bricked the other. One would turn on and vibrate but the lit up and stayed black and the other was stuck on a boot loop. Neither could boot into download mode.
Luckily a few days of googling and I found a solution with odin and adbtool... I was able to get them to detect the phones and I used the tool to force one into download mode and Odin to flash firmwares, bootloaders, and roms.
Also do you know was the phone rooted?
Well after several days of trying I am still at square one, I have read and read many post and cannot seem to get anywhere with this darn thing. I get nowhere with Kies, Verizon Tool hangs up at 83% and disconnects, and Odin will not flash anything including a new PIT, which is what it says my phone is missing. I have also attempted to NAND Erase all as suggested in one post and unchecked Re-Partition when trying to install the PIT and new stock ROM provided by the guides.
BadUserName, I was thinking that I was not in download mode because when my phone boots, it comes directly to the screen that I posted in my original post. At the top of the screen it says Boot Recovery Mode so I assumed that it was not in download mode because I never got the other screen that it should have booted to. Again the screen shot that I sent is the only screen that I am able to get it to boot to and will only boot when I use the SD card to boot it from. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you and take care.

Ya I don't think you're in download either.
So volume down + home + power boots you to that exact same screen?

Yes, even if I boot holding down volume down + home + power it still boots to the same screen shown in the picture that I posted with the text that I posted in the OP. I know that it is having issues with the PIT, but no matter what I do it will not flash a new PIT. I am not sure what 1000phones did, but they did something nasty to this phone. I know the power button is now good because I replaced it with a new one and I am a experienced 2M tech and it responds when I only hit the power button, so I know that what ever the problem is it is software related. I have also tried multiple cords and computers to flash this phone with. All the correct drivers are installed. Again I greatly appreciate any and all help on this one.

Ya, well if you aren't in download mode you can't flash anything from Odin.
Can you make a USB jig from a micro USB cable and try to force it into download mode?

I am not too sure how to do that, all that I have read about and tried is using a class 10 micro sd with the debrick file for 4.3, which is what this phone has.

That's for a hard brick, yours isn't quite hard bricked.
Look up how to make a USB jig, or you can buy it for cheap on Amazon and eBay, but that's what I would try next.

I did look at how to make one and it seems pretty straight forward and completely doable, however my phone will not even turn-on, vibrate, or charge without the debrick sd card. From what I understood is if the phone will not even respond to anything without the debrick SD in it, it is a hard brick. I am a Noob when it comes to this phone, I was able to help another friend out get his right up, but am stuck on this one. I am use to messing with HTC phones, so I am defiantly learning as I go with this one. Thank you again and do appreciate all your help.
Just added a screenshot of what ODIN is doing no matter whart I do to flash my phone.

Unfortunately I have tried that with no luck. When I try flashing it with the re-partition checked, ODIN attempts to flash then immediately comes back with a fail. Never have I ran across such a stubborn phone when trying to repair or flash. I think that this is something that has a lot of people stumped at this point. I am still appreciative about any help that will lead me in the right direction. Tomorrow if I get a chance, I am thinking about going to Radio Shack to get the parts I need to build a jig to see if that does anything. Thank you and take care.

Ya it isn't in download mode so it isn't going to flash.
I think you might be able to get a jtag repair to fix it at this point. I can't think of anything else. if it's hard bricked then you can get a riff box to force a bootloader transfer and boot from your internal card.
Maybe try doing the hardbrick method again after formating your external SD card. Sounds like you're doing everything right.

It isn't in download mode, it doesn't say "do not turn off target" and it's displaying information about a recovery partition.
It's in some sort of system diagnostic mode. Never anything I've seen before.

As stated in one of my replied, I did attempt a NAND erase all but with no luck. All I got was a fail in ODIN and the phone displayed erasing in blue but does nothing else.

That is why I started this thread, it is really weird. At first I thought that I was doing something wrong, so I formatted my SD card several times and reflashed the debrick file and got the same thing every time. What ever the phone repair place did to the phone they did it good. LikeI said, a brick like I have never seen. Thank you and please let me know if anyone can figure something out.
After doing some more research and trying, I am curious to know if it is possible to obtain a PIT from someones phone that has 4.3. When I look at all the available PIT files, they are from a while ago and none were extracted from a S3 with the new 4.3 OS on it. I am curious that since mine has this unique brick if a possible change was done to the new PIT file during the 4.3 update??? If anyone can post this for me it would be greatly appreciated. I figured at this point it would be worth a try.

I've got the exact same error screen you've run into. I've tried to NAND Erase All and that failed. Going to try re-partition now
