IMEI help - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

i have lost my IMEI like 3 times before and all from dropping my phone and the battery falling off but this time its different.
i use to be able to just restore to stock and it would pick up again but this time it doesn't want to work.
i actually copied my efs folder to my sd card and only to my computer for save keeping + used efs pro tool to back up my efs on my other xp computer
problem: don't know how to restore efs folder
what i tried:
-efs pro - doesn't detect my device so i cant restore it
-replace efs folder - i deleted the efs folder in internal and replaced it with the copy i have in my sd
-restore to stock using one click

update
when i open the efs file on internal it has a folder named lost+found. i try and delete it but it says it can't be deleted. i copy the efs from sd card to internal and it has all the same files as the one on the sd but it also has the lost+found and i still can't delete it
any thoughts would help

Sounds like you've done all the steps that would normally work. If flashing stock didn't fix it you might be looking at a hardware issue. Before we jump to that conclusion though DL super manager from play. Once that's done go into setting in SM and enable the root function. Now backup two levels to root of phone. Go to efs folder and delete it(long press it for the option). Go to your sd card and copy the backup efs folder. Go back to the root and paste it. Reboot. That has worked every time for me. If it still comes up null try pulling that battery and holding power for 20 seconds. Then reboot. If you still have nothing enjoy your new MP3 player.

i have tried that on es file explorer but ima try it on SM. i tried it on SM and it does the same thing as es file explorer except it doesn't overwrite the efs file on root.
when i long press to delete the efs file on root is still there and it has one file that says "lost+found". unlike SM, es file explorer pastes the efs from my sd to the root efs file but it also includes the "lost+found" file with nothing in it

There is nothing in lost+found. You need to give SM root permissions then switch to R/W for the folder. Left soft key will get you there. If it's R/O nothing will happen.

when you delete the efs file in root is the efs file in root still suppose to be there? cuz mine still is with that lost+found.
i switched over to R/W but it still doesn't write to the efs root file.
my steps:
open SM app
- went to file maganger section
- open file maganger
-check R/W
- go up twice into root
- long press on efs file and click delete
- click on to delete ( efs file still there )
- scroll down and click on sdcard
- find efs on sd and long press copy
- scroll up and tap on up level
- click the paste icon
after that i check efs file on root and nothing is written on it, i even rebooted it after my steps just to make sure

As long as it says r/w next to the folder your in you should be good. It'll show it in the top left corner. Make sure it's r/w before deleting efs folder and again before pasting the copy from sd. If that doesn't work there's not much more I can do for you. Good luck.

thanks for your help! i got efs pro to work so i can restore my efs file but sadly it didn't work. you're probably right that it must be a hardware problem

[Q] Super Manager help

Need help with super manager, at one time there was a detailed instruction using super manager to remove apps from system and put them in a separate folder on your sd card. I have searched and no luck. Went to super managers website and no instructions on how to create the new folder on your sd card. thanks.
I don't use super manager, but you can create a new folder using the files app and then copy whatever folder you want to the folder you created. Long press the folder in super manager and that should give you a bunch of options
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
the article had using super manager to remove bloat and then creating another folder on the sd card so if you needed to put it back into the system you could just cut and paste back.
Create a folder in your SD card for these .apk backups. Example: I have a folder in my SD card called "Backups".
What you do now is go to /system/app. You should see all your .apk files there. For anything you want to remove, just check it off and delete it. If you want to back it up, copy it and paste it to your backup folder. When you want that app again, just copy and paste it back into /system/app. Reboot if necessary.
Be sure that you have root function enabled. You do that by hitting Menu > Setup > Enable ROOT function. Obviously, this whole process (except for creating a folder in your SD card) requires root.
Also, going into /system should ask you if you want to go into R/W mode (read/write mode). You need to enable that if you want to delete anything. If it doesn't ask you, you can always hit Menu > Switch System R/W. That should do the trick.
If you actually read through my long post, then here's another solution. Use Titanium Backup and select your apps to backup, remove, and/or restore.
if you flashed a rom with cwm, then your apks are backed up anyway. this backup is in the form to the zip file. open it up, go to system/app and all of it will be there. i usually experiment with adding and removing things and when i find out what works, i make sure the changes are reflected in the zip file. this way, when i flash the rom, everything i did is already there. i do this with tweaks, apps, cwm, etc.
i always encounter problems when i backup things with tb, so if you also experience problems, cwm is an easy alternative, as well as bkoons method above. just wanted to point out you can edit the rom before you even flash it.
Thanks jager555, that worked and when I went back to super manager the new file I created for bloat appeared.
my dear friends, I started the removal process with the system apks just to remove some internal memory and install my favourite apks, live kingsoftoffice, instead of quickoffice. everything went fine, apks disappeared from the phone and from ./system/app... BUT the internal memory hasn't in any way been affected... WHY?

[Q] Titanium Backup to Removable sd??

Has anyone been able to get Titanium backup to backup to the removable storage? It wont let me navigate to my ext sd and will only backup to the on device storage! Can copy and paste to ext whenever I want to clean install a rom but kind of a pain!

First create a new folder on your sd card then copy all the backups to your new folder on the sd card.
1. Open Tibu, tab on the 3 stacked little boxes(most top right of the screen),
2. Select "preferences" from the drop down, scroll down to "backup folder location", tab to open,
3. Then tab on "detect" button, then tab on "whole device" button and it will find your new folder location,
4. Then hit the back button to bring you back to previous screen, your new path displayed and you tab on "use the current folder". you done.
If you've never made a backup, then you need to do the following:
In TiBu, Settings --> Preferences --> Backup folder location. Use the back key to navigate to /, then go to /Removable/MicroSD and then you can create a folder in there and use it as your backup location.
Took me a bit of a while to find the location.

this solved my Tibu to ext sd card problem .. also off topic appreciate all your work for Bionic.... John Galt.. . rooted ics .232
You're welcome, and thanks in return for the props. I do what I can
Sorry to hijack this thread but I have a weird issue with Titanium Backup - have the paid version...
I want to set my preferred backup location to be on the micro SD but when I navigate to it Titanium backup says it is not writable and that the folder is empty.
I can write files toitin other apps and it is most definitely not empty, I have the install files for the ROM I'm using stored on it.
The ROM is CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.7.0- 10.16.1.14.8/WW DEODEX
Kernel is 3.1.10-hundsbuah-v3.4.5-oc-gaa752e8-dirty
Any ideas?

FAT32.
It's a 64Gig SANDisk but it also happens on a 4gig and a 1 gig card, both of which are made by Kingston. Oddly enough every other app that writes data can write to these cards. It's only Titanium (paid version too) that seems to think the card is not writeable
Just upgraded to Cromi 5.4, still using Hunds F2FS kernel, but the issue still remains - cannot configure Titanium Backup to write to any Micro SD.
Anyone got any ideas?
ES File Explorer, the simple file explorer and other apps can all write to this card but not Titanium

[Q] Accidentally unzipped CM10 then placed on root, how do i remove these files?

Since i'm still on stock and I was supposed to place the rar file on the root, not the extracted files.. How do I remove all the extracted files??? backing up from my restore wont work because I did the backup after I placed all the files on. DOH!

With root explorer app of your choice. Or Odin back to stock.
in the CM10 rar is has 2 folders: system and meta-inf
When i copied it to the phone the system folder merged with system folder on my phone, along with all the other deeper folders.
So so i have to go through an manually select ALL the files that merged and arent supposed to be there since im still running my stock rom.
That's essentially my question.
Think you need to Odin stock firmware .tar image to format and restore system partition unless those folders are still intact and show as system/system and system/meta which is possible. They need to run the binary to split the files inside the folders. You only copied the folders to the root. Should not have split them up. I could be wrong. Not sure how you copied them to system root. Should have went to SD root. Can't access system root from PC via USB. Would have to put there with file explorer.
Download the original zip, explore all its contents and remove each one individually.

They should just be sitting on the sd card. There are no original system, meta ect folders on sd card to merge with. Has me confused. Can't access system root from PC without using ADB. Also if on SD root would not affect anything and would not be in backup. Just delete the main folders that were extracted from the zip from the SD card.
Agreed
i have no sd card. I installed abd then moved then extracted zip to the root of my internal memory. ATM i have installed CM10 and have no issues except for a huge chunk of my memory is gone.. if i delete the system folder from the root is it going to mess up a bunch of other things??

As long as it is on internal memory (SD) and not in the system partition should be no problem. If you mounted system in adb it is on or in the partition and not sure what to do except odin to reformat the partition. Some AOSP roms report the memory available wrong.
But he should have no issue finding it regardless of aosp storage issues. Op has no external, so he's either mnt/sdcard, internal, or usb storage. Emmc is out of play. Files should be clear as day. If you can put them on your root, you can take them off.
Agree with prdog, just Odin back if your unsure. But completely fixable.....
If I were you I'd give it more of a try without Odin just for the educational value.

Read what maestro write. You have to use root explorer. It is in your phone's root directory.
I know where is my backup on my cell with file explorer. This is not my problem. The problem is i dont find it from my pc. I want to take my nandroid backup and to put it on my computer.
Adb push it to your pc

Ummm that's adb pull actually. You push to the phone and pull from it.
OP: Just use a root explorer and make a copy of the file someplace your comp sees. Copy it over to your comp with MTP then delete it.
Thx that work great when i move it to an other folder. But i dont understand why i dont see it from my computer in clockworkmod/backup when i see it in file explorer
EDIT: Now i can see it in clockworkmod/backup after i moved back it.... Very strange

Internal Storage on the Nexus 5 is /data/media/0, also what /sdcard is symlinked to. This is what is accessed via MTP.
CWM is outdated and uses the legacy location of /data/media/clockworkmod (note the lack of /0).
Therefore you cannot see it while connected to a PC, because you're viewing /data/media/0, not /data/media. It's also why it shows up on your PC when you copy it to another folder, its moved from /data/media/clockworkmod to /data/media/0/clockworkmod (but then CWM won't see it).
With nandroid app, you can decide where you want to make your backup. I tried /data/media/0 and storage/emulated/0 but i dont see it on my PC. Only in my file explorer from my phone. I can only see it on my pc when i move it to an other folder and when i move it back in /data/media/0(i move it with file explorer)
That what a found strange. Anyway, that workaround work so ill use it in the futur
thx guys

[Q] Can't delete folder in internal storage

hi, im having problems deleting a folder in my internal storage.
my phone is Lenovo A328, stock rom, rooted, and running on kitkat.
i didn't do any tweaking on my phone besides rooting.
i noticed while browsing my internal folders, in Android/data there is a folder named "com.com2us.soulcollector.normal...." 16.74mb in size.
it's from the game soul seeker, and i've already uninstalled the game, i tried to delete it but cant be deleted.
here's what ive done so far:
-i used other browsing apps like root explorer and root browser
-renamed the folder and delete, but can't
-moved the folder to other location in internal (cant move to external), still cant delete
-downloaded the game again and made sure the folder name and location is the same. then uninstalled the game, still the folder is there.
-edit the permission but cant.
-reboot device
-clean junk files using clean master
i dont want to restore or reformat my device. its a pain trying to download and reinstall again all my apps.
please help!

Try remounting /data as RW.
So, if you're using ES Explorer, open menu, inside Tools, click on Root Explorer.
Then click Mount R/W. And mount all partitions as RW.
This may help
