Hi,
I'm having some trouble installing clockworkmod on my Tipo as per this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003069
I followed all the instructions, but when I restart and continually press the volume down button when Sony appears the phone just boots as normal. Also most of the widgets on my homescreen no longer work (no real issue there I can just reinstall them). I then downloaded Rom Manager and it tells me that my current recovery is ClockworkMod 5.x.x.x. I just want to know if the clockworkmod is actually on my phone and if so why doesn't it work when I use the volume down button method? (I've run the install.bat file twice now with the same results). My phone is rooted and is build 11.0.a.4.22
Anyone help?
Thanks:good:

do you mean .0.16?
connect your phone with debugging on, run the install.bat again, copy all of its contents when you run it with phone connected.

i recently installed the CWM for Xperia Tipo beta on my xperia tipo dual
installation is ok from link http://73ea6722.yyv.co/
recovery is also done by it on xperia tipo dual :good:
backup and restore from external memory card is ok:good:
but if any one want to update xperia ROM (through update service by sony)
then he has to enter into boot menu at startup
but as you press vol down key you entered into cwm
For that you have to remove your cwm
so that you have to do this..................
1.Go to system/bin and remove battery_charging,
2.rename battery_charging_help to battery_charging.
3.Also remove recovery.tar.
alternate
1.connect your phone to PC Companion
2.click on support....
3.click on update
4.click on repair
you will loose all your settings, contact and sms......
The easiest way to enter flashboot mode is to power off the device completely, hold down the vol-down key then insert the USB cable. Works every time. You don't need to delete anything.
Thanks....

I believe that you have to have an unlocked bootloader and root to boot into recovery mode. Follow this guide from the Sony website to see if tyou can unlock your bootloader; http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
No need for unlock bootloader. Root is enough. There will be 4 files to put into root. To get cwm menu, turn off the phone, plug the phone charger, when you see the sony logo, click the volume down key as much as possible.

Thank you for correcting me, I haven't installed a recovery in a while. I first installed mine when I was unlocking my bootloader, hence the presumed need for an unlocked bootloader. It's always nice to be corrected as it enhances my knowledge that little bit more.
1. Install cwm from cmd again.
2. If successful, turn off ur device.
3. Connect the charger and Turn it on.when u see sony logo start pressing vol- repeatedly.
4. U will be in cwm.

which firmware version do you have? i heard firmware .16 require connect to usb to go to CWM
thank you all for your replies.
the bootloader is unlocked. i have the newest firmware(4.25). this could be the issue?
i tried to press a vol down button, but nothing happens.
i reinstalled the firmware with the sony update centre and rooted the phone.
the cmd method isn't working now, it say 'waiting for device' and stays like that.
i wanted to install jelly bean, and i wanted to use rom manager.
is there any other way to install it?
Waiting for device? Seems like youre in wrong mode, either it wants adb, flash, or fastboot. You got root, right? Use manual method - copy those cwm files using root capable file manager.
Sony Xperia Tipo ST21i
if its saying waiting for device, then drivers are not installed properly bro! first install them!
works
got it to work, god knows how.
thanks to everybody for the help.

CM10 via Flashtool???
as far as i know to install CM10 :
1. flash boot.img ( taken from CM10 zip file )
2. enter CWM on the device
3. clear cache,dalvik
4. install CM10 zip file
5. fix permissions
6. reboot device
like nughroz said, you cannot use flashtool to install CM10. Use his steps if you need CM10 anyways, else if you want to revert back to Xperia stock, then
1. Download the latest Miro firmware
2. shutdown mobile, disconnect from PC.
3. hold Vol- button and reconnect to PC, geen LED should be lit
4. flash the new Miro firmware through flashtool
Yes, before using CM10, you should flash img.boot file that available in the CM10 packages. Extract it, flash img.boot, then flash the rom. If you wanna back to ICS, then flash the stock firmware. And the most important thing before installing CM10, you SHOULD unlock your bootloader. Correct me if i wrong :highfive:

Hello,
By flashing thunderzap kernal(Stable version) on my Xperia L, I installed the latest version of Cyanogemode 11(toashan) and there by the firmware was running butter smooth without any problem, now I tried to revert the firmware with stock Rom and I understood that the best way to install stock rom is to flash it via flashtool. The problem what I am facing is after entering in flash mode, the flashtool widget gets stuck at "flashing loader".the percent is stuck at 0%.The confusion comes into play as the phone never shows signs that it is in flash mode.i tried flashing another kernal still the same old problem.
Thanks
Hazil

Flashing a custom kernel has nothing to do with a stock ftf.
Can you tell the steps that you're following to flash stock?

1. Turn off the phone and let it rest for 30 sec and did the below tasks.
2.Copied the stock ftf, C2104_15.3.A.1.17_Generic into the firmware folder of flashtool, clicked the flash mode button in flashtool and waited for the prompt to plug in my phone holding the back button connecting the usb cable.
3.Now i saw a pop up in my pc(windows 7) saying that the device is connected in flash mode.
4.Now the flashtool prompt goes when i connected the device, and it gets stuck at the notification saying "flashing loader" and its at 0%.
This the issue which i am facing right now. I cant flash stock rom and get back to 4.2 :'(

How could you hold the 'back' button???
there's no such button as far as I know.
Anyways since you're able to connect in flashmode I assume that you're talking about the volume down button. Try changing the firmware(ftf). Instead of generic, try any other version. And run flashtool as administrator.
Best of luck
Hit thanks if it helped

The recovery you're booting to is not a custom recovery ,anyway I'll giude to installing I'll give some useful links.
First if all you need to unlock your bootloader go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/xperia-l-how-to-flash-tool-unlocking-t2337955
You may run in a bootloop (the phone stuck at bootanimation)
Just flash the stock ftf via flashtool .
Now go here and take the first method , it will guide how to install CM12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63769485&postcount=2
Remember that the first may take sometime so don't pullout the batterybattery.
Good luck:highfive:
