[Q] is this the sign that battery is bad? - General Questions and Answers

I have the samsung galaxy tab p1000 for about 1 yr 2 months, I did power off the system to charge to 100%, when I boot it up again, it show 27%, almost the same percentage when I power off. During the day when I use it, the number will drop but if I reboot it again the percentage might be a lot smaller, the charge cycle take 6-8 hrs.
the battery app I use is Battery HD.
it is gingerbread 2.3.3, rooted.
how do I tell if this is battery problem or I need to reinstall the ROM again?
thanks for any help.

My friend had like tht problem but it writen too much charged... he take it to service and now all ok

There are hundreds of threads on battery drain issue, use search button and try to follow the suggestion.
Thanks

I got the same problem after flashing to early 4.0.4 build.
Hotmail sync was the issue. Try to do a full reset and don't restore a backup. Just to see how it goes.

I don't think so. It seems like that problem is gone now. I don't know what happened but there was no signal about an hour, the battery drained 30%, and then the signal appeared and the battery draining became slow. Now everything is okay.

Good to hear that. Bad cell signal and wifi connection drain battery more quickly.

[Q] GB kernel that supports fast charge

Are there any gb kernel that supports fast charging? I am on Xxkpq now.. It has been a while that ive been using my SL
Im currently "fixing" this since im.experiencing battery misreadings like when i restart my battery, i'd lose around 20-30% of.the battery percentage

Losing battery percentage is one of the common problem in almost all Samsung devices so don't worry abt it. After the battery drop, if u keep the phone idle for sometime the battery will raise automatically to it's actually level.
Sent from my GT-I9003.
This thing only happens when the battery is miscalibrated. I've calibrated well various times and that problem gone. Try to use battery calibration apk.

well, there's no other way for me to recover my SL now unless i order a new motherboard
Here's the story:
I got my SL's touchscreen and digitizer replaced by some guy in stalls in a mall where they "repair" galaxy phones. Apparently, he did not inform me that he will be installing a fake one. Ergo, the keypad flex was already grounded... and unluckily passed on to my motherboard.
It literally f*cked up my charging input and output.
... *sigh

Battery problems

Hello there,
I noticed that my battery really doesn't last long. It's been 100% full and now, 4 1/2 hours later, there are only 6% left. The weird thing about that is that I did not really used it during that time. WLAN has been turned on over that time, display was really dark, no backlight notifications or anything. Has anyone any idea how to fix this? (LG P940)

can you give more info
can you give more info? info like- which android, how many mah (ex: 2000,1000). give that and i may be able to help you,...
Would be really awesome! Android version is 4.2.2, battery has about 1500mah (think it's 1540) and I'm using the cyanogenmod kernel. Do you need any more information?

Thats not really much of a battery for the hardware,.. how old is it? Is this a recent problem, and when did you flash to CyanogenMod ?
To me it sounds like something is draining the battery pretty hard. Is the Wi-fi signal stable? Any processes under Apps>All, using excessive memory?
To me it sounds like you are having wifi/gps/bluetooth on all time, and if not, you should close ALL apps next time. Some running apps on your background could even drown your battery from 100% to 0% in less than 2 hours. Big apps or games cause the most trouble
Greetings,

If this phone/battery is more than one and half year old, this could be just battery dying, like mine (LG P920, 2 years old, 1500mAh) is dying right now.
It can't last more than 6 hours lately, so i bought a new one.
A li-ion battery (standard models) just can handle frome 300 to 500 charging cycles, thus if tou charge your phone every day, battery life has about 18 months lifetime.
After, it just dies, more or less slowly.
Thank you all so far.
Bought the phone 1/2 year ago so this can't really be the problem. The battery has never been great but got worse about a month ago. I flashed it about 2 weeks ago and this didn't seem to influence the battery.
I always keep GPS and Bluetooth turned off (only turning GPS on when I go running, but I never noticed that this influences the battery either) and Wi-fi is pretty stable. As I heard that Wi-fi is really bad for the battery I tried turning it off as much as possible and so far it seems a bit better.
I also took a look at how much memory the apps use and saw that Facebook, Kingsoft Office and Whatsapp really need a lot. I think I will uninstall Facebook and KS Office then and see if this helps.

I presume you bought it new ("and sealed")?
Maps used to be a big problem for me running in the background. See which apps use Maps.
Yep, I got it completely new.
Okay, I'll check that, thanks.

Also problem with battery
I had a similar problem, my battery got "sick" after I used my phone as a GPS during 2 or 3 days. the phone was quit warm during the navigation. After that The battery life was reduced from around a day to 9-10 hours. In addition when battery is around 20%, the phone just shut down due low-battery and as soon I turn it on, as soon it turns off!
The solution was to buy a new battery, but that is odd that using the phone as GPS navigator damages the battery so badly!
Btw, my phone is a HTC desire w/ Android 4.2
yah now i may be able to help you, download the antutu battery saver app from google (it requires root) it is a really good app and helped he last
my battery from 3 hrs to 7 1/2 hrs. if you don't have root access, then it is a prob. if you don't have, tell me and i will give you another solution which
does not require root
Thanks man, I just installed it, will write tomorrow how useful this App is.

Battery drain so much upon boot

im using lenovo p770 (rooted) and runs with jelly bean. my problem was. every time a reset my phone my battery drains from 5-10% . yes i know it is normal but. do u have any ways to atleast decrease the percentage?. i tried start up manager and others but i dont think they work. or do u think my battery is just miscalibrated? thanks
Yeah calibrate the battery and see what happens. There's an app in the play store for it but I think you may need root. If that doesn't work than you need to replace the battery.

If That's Normal. Then Live with it.
anyway ask the same device holder if they are faceing the Problem
thanks for your generous reply.
do u think battery calibration by memo really works? so far that i read it doesnt work
the same unit holders are speechless on other forums. haha
anyways thanks
I don't think that is supposed to be normal lol. I can see you losing 2-3 % but 5-10 is way to much. For me it works in some cases.

That app is pure snake oil. The simple fact is that an app cannot calibrate your battery.

Battery drain help

Hello guys
I have since 1 week a very weird problem my phone is very warm on the top of the phone and the battery just drains down I charge it in the night so my phone is 100% in the morning and when I get it out of my pocket after 1 hour 68% left and the top of the phone is just very hot
How can I solve this I don't have the time to bring it away because I need my phone for school and work
This problem started when I upgraded to 4.2.2 the Spanish one and I flashed back to 4.1.2 yesterday but the problem is still here
I also deleted everything on my phone wiped it nothing helps

I'm having the same problem, although phone is not getting any hot or anything like thath.
But battery is draining like hell. In a few second it will go from 15% to 0% and phone will shut down automatically.
Also when phone is fully charged it will drain battery pretty quick even with screen switched off and just music playing it will go dwon from 100 to 70 in one hour.
I've switched off all push email, facebook stuff etc. not usibg 3g much, got no clueue whats causing this to be honest.
Battery Callibration
hi,
I've had the same problem and I used this and it works
Download Battery Callibration in the Google Play Store.
You need root
Good luck
I will try the app

You don't need this app because li-ion accu calibrate it self when it is empty and you load it again.

You could try Greenify or Wakelock which will point you in the direction of what is using resources and to hibernate the offenders.
Quite useful apps.
I've tried greenify and it was causing more damage than good
