My sister has a Samsung Focus 2, and all text messaging is no longer working. It was fine yesterday and nothing was changed. Restarted the phone with no luck.
I have an original Focus, so I went through and checked some things out.
I checked the free space, and saw she has over 3GB still.
I checked the settings using the diagnoses app and comparing to my Focus, and sure enough the messaging settings were simply set to nothing/generic.
I tried to use Windows Break so I could install Samsung Tools to fix, (as I have had to run on my phone) but I found out that the exploit was fixed.
Other then calling tech support and hopping they can have the settings remotely reset and if needed resetting the phone, is there anything else that I can do?
If needed we can try a new SIM card if that might help, just not till after work as everything else works on the phone.
Nevermind, it fixed itself.

Been using my Cappy as a game device for close to a year since I got an SII. Tonight I tried to download an app via wireless and could not access Google Play. Tried using the SIM from the SII, but phone still gets network errors even with wifi on. Provisioned the phone, but still no go. I'm thinking a factory reset and starting from scratch might work, but I am running Andromeda 3 and am unsure what will happen if I do a reset. Will it restore to the factory version of Froyo? Will I lose root? I want to use the Cappy to fly my AR Drone 2, but I don't want to mess it up to do so. It flies great with the SII, but it would be nice to have the Cappy for it if possible. Incoming calls cause the copter to land and can be a pain. The Cappy doesn't even show up among my phones on Google Play. Don't remember deleting it, but until I can get some kind of network access I'm sunk. Did the APNs change for the Cappy in the past year? Shouldn't it be able to connect via wifi regardless? Thanks!
That's a strange problem... however you didn't specify what exactly isn't working. I know Google play doesn't work, but does anything else work over wifi? Either way, it is hard to give support when you are using a very outdated version of Android. I recommend you at least update to Gingerbread, or if you want, Jellybean.
You can also try clearing data for the play store. That's strange that it doesn't show up under your account. My old phone that I sold months ago is still there (twice), and there is no way to delete phones from the list. Are you sure you weren't using a different account?
I can't access either network, which is what is baffling me. I would think I should at least be able to access the internet via wifi, but even that won't work. It connects to my router fine, but beyond that nothing. As for my Play account, I remember several Cappys showing up there because I had 2 replacements within a month back when I first got it in 2010. Whether they dropped off from non-use or I deleted them somehow I don't remember. I just had my SII replaced under warranty last month and both are still there. My SII came with a new 4G SIM, which might not be compatible with the Cappy, but that doesn't explain not being able to connect via wifi. I'm stumped.
A factory data reset won't change your Rom, and you won't lose root. It might fix the problem.

Well, I managed to get online, but another issue cropped up. I logged into Google Play and can see all my installed apps. There are many needing updating, but when I try to do so I get a message that the app is not compatible with my device. Why would an already installed app see that an update is available and then not let me install it? I can also receive e-mail to my 2 configured e-mail accounts, but I can't send any e-mails through them. The same is true of both these accounts on my SII, so this issue may have nothing to do with the Cappy. I may just put a GB ROM on this thing, but it's been so long since I flashed anything that I have no idea which ROM to use or how to do it. I wonder if I copy over the APK for the app I want to run if it will work?

You'll need to flash KK4 with bootloaders (check the stickied in dev section). That will get you on stock GB, from there you can flash w/e ROM you want, I would suggest JB based. (AOKP and AOCP are my personal fav but you can look them up and choose one you see fit)
A lot of things changed since you were all over this forum But if you have TiBu, JB will optimize your apps so they should run fine (just remember to save your IMEI with TiBu otherwise they'll FC).
A fresh download of those apps tho will most likely be better. Just like after formatting a PC, it is better to fresh install your apps. And who knows, you might fall in love with your Cappy all over again
I have been having some troubles with Facebook Messenger on my Nexus 5. It has been the same problem since I got the phone in January. When I try to log in to the app, it comes up with the message "Something went wrong, please try again".
After doing some research, I found that taking out the SIM card or putting the device into Airplane mode let you log in.
However, when the device is taken off Airplane mode or the SIM card is put back in, that's when the real problems start. When I pull down to refresh the messages manually, it comes up with "Something went wrong".
I also can't receive any pictures in my messages.
Voice calls also don't work. It doesn't seem like every Nexus 5 has this problem, as it works for some people. I've also seen some Nexus 4 owners having the same problem. I've tried it on both Dalvik & ART, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing the data and cache and even a factory reset. Nothing's changed. The only thing that I can think of that is causing the problems are differences between international, carrier and U.S. versions of the phone. Does anyone else have this problem, or has a fix to the problem? If you can, state the specs of your device, e.g. 32GB carrier. I'm using a 16GB International version.
Thanks guys.
I tried to download additional camera modes from the Galaxy app store, but nothing happens after tapping install. I then realized I didn't have a Samsung account on my S6. I tried going into Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Samsung, however nothing happens.
I am rooted, and debloated with TiBu. Tried enabling everything that was disabled, but still no luck. I'm wondering if disabling a Samsung system app changed something on my phone.
Does anyone have a remedy to this? I noticed some other people having similar issues: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3110652
Anyone?
No one else had this issue?
Same thing happened to me!
Finally I find someone else having this issue...
First it started with the Galaxy Apps store ... I tried installing new camera modes, but when I clicked to install the button flashes and nothing happens...
SO, I called content and app support... they made it worse. They requested I remove and disable my samsung account after clearing its cache.... so i listened and followed like an idiot.
Now when I go back to add account and click on samsung it returns to the previous screen like a endless loop.
Content and app support had no clue what the problem was and I've waited a week and called 4 times now and no solution.
Samsung main device suppport said my only choice is a hard reset to factory default settings.... I haven't tried this yet, mostly because I just got it 3 weeks ago and finally got all my media transferred over and all my customizations/apps.... AHHH
Someone please help us!!!
BTW my S6 isn't rooted and on a verizon.
Interesting. Hopefully there's a resolution aside from resetting again.
maybe...
I had some success with using the "share" option then "ES download to..." (a function of the ES file manager) to download apps in the Galaxy apps store, BUT still no definitive solution for adding the samsung account back. I've tried adding through settings and the store and neither work. .. one loops back to rhe previous screen and the other flashes and nothing happens.
I've spent hours talking to verizon and samsung support and the only fix was a replacement. What pisses me off is over the course of the verizon edge payment plan, I'll pay retail and feel like they should replace it with a new phone not a refurbished one then sell mine as a certified pre-owned for additional profit.
All in all it seems like it's a software issue that can't be resolved by a factory reset.... I may be wrong, but I can't find any help or resources to advise me otherwise.
Out of curiousity, does your "find my mobile" option work in settings under lock and security? Mine loops back like the add my samsung account issue.....
Any insight for a noob who's out of options!
I am having the same problem. I just got my Galaxy s6 today. When I tried to download an app from the Galaxy app it would not load. I went to accounts in settings and tried to add Samsung. It is listed but when I select it nothing happens. My son has the same phone that he got a few weeks ago and has no problem. Anyone have a solution for this. I'm stumped
factory reset.

I resisted and called every support line available. ... wasted a week and spent hours on the phone. ... the only way to fix this issue to my knowledge (along with Samsung galaxy app support, Samsung hardware support, Samsung software support, and verizon tech support) is to factory rest the device.
So little is known about this problem verizon was ready and willing to exchange my S6 for a another... it would of been refurbished so I opted to reset and by golly it worked ....
Just let it go and embrace a fresh start
After trying everything I could think of and all of the suggestions from Samsung tech I decided that since I just got this phone I would just bite the bullet and do a factory reset. It worked. Samsung is now added as an account. Galaxy Apps now works and everything seems fine. Unfortunately I think this is really the only solution that will fix this issue.
Resolved for my similar problem with adding Samsung account.
- setting > backup and restore > factory reset > reset device > add Samsung account > push back after added without confirmation to reset. Account added!
And the story:
Well.. I have the same problem on my Samsung S6 Edge. I made a reset factory from the boot menu and after that, I couldn`t add a Samsung account.
I reset a few more times but without any success.
I searched few hours to find any other way.
I cleared cache on the app from Samsung Account and noticed that this app has 0B installed, so don`t have the application installed.
tried to add on another new device a Samsung account and noticed that he will download the app, which from my device don`t happen anything.
I found a video which didn`t try to fix the same issue, but he tried to jump over some protection on factory reset. He installed an app to go to setting and BLA BLA BLA...
I didn`t install anything but I tried to go to settings > backup and restore > factory reset > reset the device and here it asked me to enter a Samsung account and password... this is what I looked for because, after this the account has been added. after added the account I aborted the factory reset and checked the account.
problem solved.
Hello, I've had the unlocked Note 10+ for a few weeks and have had chronic issues since day one and not really sure what to do about it. A lot of the issues seem to get worse over time. Not sure if the problems are related, but it feels like it.
First, I have MMS issues mostly with any other app but the built in messaging app and even that one isn't perfect. Using Textra for instance will get me MMS timeouts sending and receiving and sometimes messages don't send or come in. This seems to happen with or without wifi enabled.
Next, I'm getting delayed notifications on many if not all apps. Notifications will some in here or there, then all of a sudden I'll get all the notifications for the day all at once. So suddenly my phone is going crazy receiving 50 notifications from different apps all at once. Related to that, if I get a notification and click on it to open the related app, often nothing happens. Then like an hour or more later the app I clicked on for the notification will pop open in the middle of doing something else. It will also get hung up installing or updating apps. A reboot will usually clear this but at some point it get's stuck again and will take hours to install an app if it does at all.
I've done all the usual things like disabling battery optimization for the apps in question, set the phone to high performance mode. Uninstalled and reinstalled things, cleared the cache partition, reset network settings, checked APN settings, even now have factory reset the phone, twice, got a new SIM card. Talked to Samsung and they tell me I need to mail it to their repair depot in Texas if I think it's hardware.
So no idea where to go with this. Seems hard to believe it's a hardware problem and sending the phone away for a week or more doesn't seem like a great option, especially when they might just send it back as it works OK for awhile after a reboot.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
After you reset the phone, did you install apps manually from store or let it go off a backup?
Also, just an idea but maybe the tower servicing you is acting up.. Unless it's been happening in multiple areas.

That is a good point, I did let it install automatically from the Google backup. It wasn't a true restore the way I would generally think of it as everything was installed from scratch, but maybe some settings are getting put back that are messed up. It happens out of the are as well, but I did talk to my carrier and they claimed the did some stuff at the tower that might help. I usually think that means they go get coffee then tell me to reboot the phone. Maybe this evening I'll try a fresh install with no restore. Sort of sucks of course as that's a lot more work to get going, but what the hell at this point. Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. I have a note 10+ myself now unlocked and seeing some texting issues where I don't receive text or mms from Apple phones. Hasn't happened with Android to Android though.

So none of that reinstall stuff helped me. On texting I finally tried the Google Messages app with chat features enabled when it was leaked. Messages alone didn't work, but enabling RCS did and now it actually works better than ever. I hate giving up on textra, but I like the sheer speed of sending giant MMS messages now.
On the notifications thing, the thing that finally got that working right was disabling the Google app. As soon as I did that, all is working as expected. Of course that breaks some Google stuff, but at the moment that's what I have to do to make this work. Even upgrading to Android 10 betas didn't allow me to turn that back on.
Google pixel 3 (not XL) - Three is my provider.
For a number of weeks now I've not been receiving notifications while using data, until the app has been opened or till the phone connects to Wi-Fi.
I have contacted Three, thinking it may be an issue with service of some sort. They've been through loads of different settings (the person I spoke to did seem to know what they were talking about and very useful), but they got to point where they had exhausted everything they could think of.and asked me to turn my phone on and off to see if that helps with some of the settings that had been changed... it didn't.
Since, I've done a factory reset (I'd already tried resetting using the other options), this did didn't help. I've gone through all easy accessible settings to make sure no battery optimizer setting are on (the ones I can find at least), I've gone through all the data settings. But nothing seems to be working.
As soon as my phone connects to Wi-Fi I then get loads of notifications coming through.
Not sure if anybody else is having an issue with this or if it's due to the most recent update as the two seemed to happen to close togethe.
I've tried contacting Google and not had any reply. I'm at a loss of what else I can try hoping somebody on here night have another suggestion please.
