That would be rather helpful wouldnt it. I occasionally do palm the back button or take a screen shot on accident. And I swear im constantly hitting the bar and opening the multi view instead of the dern space bar when I type, now that one does get on my nerves.
Would be possible if someone can make xposed module

Is there a way to hide the system bar?
maybe something like THIS?
+1
Love this idea
Try the link below for the apk........... i havent tried it on ics yet
was just going to post up as an attachment but its not frickin working on the ics browser
http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/
it is not working for me
me either - sorry guys
From what I understand, Google pretty much locked it out completely, so it's impossible at the moment to hide the status bar. It's really annoying. :/
From the author of Honeybar: "*** Important note for ICS users: Honeybar is unsupported on ICS and will not hide the UI bar. I have examined the source for ActivityManagerService and it currently appears impossible to stop com.android.systemui"

Damn that sucks. I hope Google changes their mind or someone finds a way around this problem. I find it extremely irritating to use video and reading apps with the system bar at the bottom.
I guess I will stick with Android 3.2 for now.
There's a tweak for the Galaxy Nexus that remove the bottom bar entirely, and the person who posted it says to use ButtonSavior (on the market) to replace the soft keys. The newest AOKP rom also includes a feature to remove the navigation bar which I assume is pretty much the same as the bar on tablets.
The mod is over on RootzWiki, not sure if I can post links to it, or if it will work for the TF or could be adapted for it.
See, it's things like this that make me wonder. Why in the world would google, or anyone, lock things down so much that nobody can change anything? Disabling the status bar in honeycomb didn't do any harm. I never heard a single complaint of a bricked tablet or software problem because of disabling the status bar.
Yes!!!
Team EOS has the option the hide the system bar in an easy to use manner.
Where?

Where? Searched for "status" "system" "bar" "hide" in varying combinations as well as individually. Could you point me in the right direction. TIA.
From looking around the framework-res etc what i have seen that ICS is based on a theme called holo. Now if we could modify the framework-res and strip the black and make it transparent it should be able to be done. Decompiling it has been no problem however I am too new at themeing to provide any definite answers to recompile framework-res as i have tried but it just will not register as a proper apk. There is one issue with that however, the holo theme is involved with almost everything to do with the system. Example backgrounds for the menu system and the onscreen keyboard and a pile of other stuff plus the assorted icons would still be present back button home apps button clock and wifi.
All the edits were because my cursor diappeared.

It's part of the ROM. They don't appear to have a separate app to hide the system bar, so we have to use the full rom for now. It works the same way pre-ICS Revolver did.
Couldn't find anything on Team EOS tread about it.

With EOS for TF101 you press the power button to get the menu option to hide the status bar. The menu is shown in baseballfanz's post.

This works perfect on my A500 running ICS 4.0.3 rooted using live wallpaper - no issues whatsoever, thanks for the tip! Also really liked the gestures part of the whole thing as I can make apps launch from anywhere and probably won't even use the status bar much at from now on.
I was just curious if there was any way to move the bottom toolbar (both samsung pop up apps bar and the system toolbars/home keys) to the top of the screen? This would make writing crap on the screen SO much easier and less annoying! I'm on an official JB ROM but am, willing to flash a custom ROM provided s-note/multi-tasking/all other samsung software that made me choose a note over a transformer prime are available to install on top of the ROM.
My sincere apologies if this has already been discussed elsewhere.
Cheers,
Nick

That would be awesome, I pull up the notification tab all the time, it's super annoying.
I second this. Right now what im doing is to use gmd gesture control to hide the status bar whenever I need to do some heavy writing.

You could try a custom launcher, Nova or Apex or whatever.
Not sure if they have that feature, but they are highly customizable so try it...
gmd gesture control
Thanks VERY much for suggesting this gesture control app, problem solved!
Cheers,
Nick

So I downloaded the No Navbar mod for the Rage HD rom and flashed it and it worked... there's no navbar, increasing my screen size. But there's a *tiny* problem..... NOW THERE'S NO WAY TO GO BACK/HOME!?!?! People in the comments were praising the mod yet how am I supposed to use my phone without a home or back button??? There has to be something in the settings, right?? Any help would be much appreciated! Obviously I knew that the buttons would be 'gone' but I figured they would be in the status bar or would pop up when you swipe up or something.

You could try using "Pie Control" from the play store while you figure out how to get the actual XDA Pie Controls working.

What do you mean you cant find the status bar, your picture shows just that, you have it, and judging by the red arrow pointed at the brightnes I think you mean that jou cant find the brightnes slider, and that is rom dependent
Pls explain more about the problem
this is not the pic of my phone
my phone didn't show the bar as u see in this pic

Is your phone on a custom rom or is it on a factory rom? Factory roms for Nexus S do not have those shortcuts on statusbar, it's rom dependent
app
u can try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&hl=en
this can be used as widget as well as an notification drawer power toggles
i used this when i was on 4.1.2
hope this helps !
you mean the power toggles or power widget..
that actually does'nt show by default on JB v4.1.2 or higher custom roms, if you have a custom rom you can just add those toggles by going to settings, it says notification drawer and you can just enable the power widget, in my ROM it is located in settings/system/notification drawer/power widget(it is disabled so I dont have that too). it depends on a ROM, and it is more easy to provide you the best resolution if you ask an accurate and detailed question..
hope that this will still help you..
yes ...
please tell me fast what can i do??
thanks Bro
Thanks a lot
thanks to all guys
my problem is solved now
thanks again
Just moved from LG G2 to Z5 PREMIUM - trying to figure out how I can hide the very top status bar when running apps, must be a way I hope. Any advice welcomed.

Yes, use Second Screen (search for it in google play store). You need to be rooted.
