You can do either or:
1. Hold down on the "host" file and a popup, (just like in your screen shot), select "Open as", then select "Text", then select "ES note editor", wait a bit and it should opened.
2. Just tab on the "host" file, select "text", then select "ES note editor", wait a bit and it should opened.
That's all. Just a reminder, this is the second time I hold hold hand through the process...LOL

Lucky no offence but you don't sound experienced enough to be editing system files. Permissions and how and what to edit require a bit more knowledge. Similar to the pm you set me about signature verification. If you carry on it is only a matter of time before you create a non booting or crashing device.
Go to the play store and download hosts editor and use apps like AdAway for controlling what ads you see.
Apologies if that came across as patronising. We all had to learn once but jumping straight in to the deep end when you don't know how to swim could be dangerous.

Lol sd non taking but isnt that how u learn from try n error but i will take ur advice to consideration.....

Trial and error can be a painful experience if you get it wrong. But yes it is one of many different learning methods. Not the safest or most sensible but if you are a risk averse person you can learn the hard way.

Google Talk force closing on One S. . . .

I have a Tmo One S running LeeDroid V2.1.0 of One Supreme, and have noticed an issue that I haven't seen mentioned on any thread. When I receive a Google Talk message that contains a phone number and I press or long-press on the phone number, Talk force-closes instead of dialing the number. Other than this issue, Talk works normally including video chat. Not sure if this is a One S, LeeDroid, or GTalk issue. Any help is appreciated. . . .

That's because of the hyperlink issue with the apple HTC lawSuits. I believe steal25 was able to get hyperlinks working again though. but not sure if someone has made it work on this device yet. Just got one s today had 3vo.

Her are Steal25's edits - they work perfectly on the One S:
You need a file explorer that allows root access like RootExplorer. After navigating to the /system directory, make sure you enable read/write access and open the build.prop file in a text editor.
In the build.prop file, you need to find this line:
ro.da1.enable=true
And you’ll need to change it to:
ro.da1.enable=false
Then add this line just below:
ro.da1.method=false
Save the file and reboot, and you should be good to go.

There may be 2 reasons
1.Your media volume is low(This happened for many so check that out)
2.You may have selected a language other than US in settings->language & Input.Try tinkering with different options. For me,putting it to US english worked

BTW, when said place firmware in root, do u mean the area where other folders are there like the downloads, pictures, movies, ringtones? Or the area where the other folders are like: root, sys, system, etc... Using es file ezplorer file manager, from normal android directly I can hit back and go back one more, where system and other folders are.

*.doc or *.docx? Any special formatting in the document that could've screwed things up? Does Word open the document off the flash drive without any issues?
Either way, it's (probably) not a TF700 issue, it'd be a Polaris problem so best to ask the developers and send the document to them so they can look into it.
If you have to open it, I'd email it to myself and open in Google Docs.

Hidden firmware menu???

Hi to all.
Sorry if I post something already known but I tried search here and in google and i didnt find anything.
If I go to settings and tap fast multiple times at camera, pad ec or dock version, I came up with a menu called transformer services with option to update pad ec, dock ISP and camera ISP.
What is that? Is it helpful for anything?
Thanks!
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
Yes can be used for manually flashing firmware for individual components. Not unknown but not often used
To which folder could I write files from firmware to update by this hidden menu?

Weird browsing issue?

Tried 3 different browsers to view this site:
neoview.viewnetcam.com
and none of them work on Cromi-X TF700T, but that site did work on our Galaxy S II & Galaxy Nexus devices.
Tried a different wifi network and now it works!
So strange!
The two phones were on the same wifi network that the TF700T was on, in case you were wondering.
I am on CROMI-X 4.6.5 and can surf to that URL just fine in the stock browser . That is: a log in box pops up right away and since I don't have user name and password I can't get any further

Thanks for checking it for me.
Hmmm, I wonder why it won't work on my tablet?
I don't have any ad blockers installed?
Try on a different wifi network.
Just happened to me yesterday, was surfing on work pc looking up a vendor, pc couldn't/wouldn't load their site, thought it was down/maintenance etc, got 'couldn't be found'.
Went to my phone, took it off same wifi network, used Verizon network instead, site loaded no problem. 5 min later, pc loads site as if nothing happened.
Have Windstream for Internet at office. Does this sometimes for random sites, don't know why.
Btw, your link worked for me too on my phone (stock browser). As berndlb mentioned, user/pass box pops up.

Holy crap, you are 100% correct!
That is such a weird issue!
Ahh, but what error is the browser reporting? 404 not found or 401 not authorized?
I went there with Dolphin and it skipped past the login window and went directly to 401.
Tried again with Chrome and got the login window hit cancel and got 401.
Could this be what happened to you?
Hi
I am not sure if this is the same issue as yours but I had a TF700T which I sold as I have managed to pick up a 64gig one with keyboard.
The guy I sold it to thinks it has a fault as he seems to have an intermittent issue with both the native Cromi-X browser and with Firefox in that he gets web page not available but his wife's Nexus is working fine with the same links. At first his message appeared to be that all web browsing was affected but after pressing him it seems it may be random when he clicks on links in other pages such as sponsored links in amazon. He has disabled Adaway but he says it is still happening.
Here's a screenshot...
Am hoping the issue can be fixed or he can live with it as the wife hit the roof when i came home with a second Infinity without selling the first - she says I have too many gadgets (I say we have too many kids and pets but that argument wasnt a pleasant one).
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

I'll get him to check on that one, I'm guessing that if he does then he should delete it yes?

No, replace it with the stock one, or delete all extra entries he doesn't want to block.
The stock version is just one line:
Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Note: before editing files on /system, one must be root and remount /system writable - root-enabled file managers usually have an option for that.
