Google Talk force closing on One S. . . . - HTC One S

I have a Tmo One S running LeeDroid V2.1.0 of One Supreme, and have noticed an issue that I haven't seen mentioned on any thread. When I receive a Google Talk message that contains a phone number and I press or long-press on the phone number, Talk force-closes instead of dialing the number. Other than this issue, Talk works normally including video chat. Not sure if this is a One S, LeeDroid, or GTalk issue. Any help is appreciated. . . .

That's because of the hyperlink issue with the apple HTC lawSuits. I believe steal25 was able to get hyperlinks working again though. but not sure if someone has made it work on this device yet. Just got one s today had 3vo.

Her are Steal25's edits - they work perfectly on the One S:
You need a file explorer that allows root access like RootExplorer. After navigating to the /system directory, make sure you enable read/write access and open the build.prop file in a text editor.
In the build.prop file, you need to find this line:
ro.da1.enable=true
And you’ll need to change it to:
ro.da1.enable=false
Then add this line just below:
ro.da1.method=false
Save the file and reboot, and you should be good to go.

Seriously?!? No one can help with small MMS

Day after day I sit around and search for a solution to the receiving a small mms problem. I post on every thread I find about it and even pm but I get no response or just condescending responses. Has anyone found a solution to this? I have T-Mobile and I'm running revolution hd 6.1.1. With the stock radio (or so I think). Please someone help this is becoming unbearable

Maybe being a little more descriptive would help. What is "a small mms problem?" Are the messages truncated, the type too small, are messages not being sent or received, are the messages unreadable, is the text in the wrong language, is the icon lost?
Maybe a little more information about your problem would help someone here recollect a solution they applied to a similar problem.
1. I do not have T-Mobile
2. That being said, I was experiencing issues with small MMS pictures in the first few weeks of xda development for the Inspire
3. Searching, I came across something suggesting you change device information in build.prop to mask it as another device and it worked for me
4. I can't find that information anywhere - but this will do the same thing, masking your device as a device tmous will recognize
5. build.prop will automatically be backed up doing it this way, so if you want to go back after you're done you can - but it may be worth a shot
Don't know if this would work or not - I had a similar problem with a ROM in the first few weeks of flashing (note: I am NOT on TMobile, but was having the tiny mms problem), and I found a guide suggesting to edit build.prop to disguise it as a nexus. It worked for some reason...but I can't for the life of me find this walkthrough. The following steps will accomplish the same thing, disguising it as a phone tmous knows. It's worth a shot (backup first)..
1.) Download “Root Explorer” or a simpler application
2.) Open Root Explorer and go into the System folder
3.) One in the System folder, hit the Mount R/W at the top right
4.) Hold down on Build.prop file and then open it in the text editor
5.) Change the following lines
Here are the changes you need to make:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/htc_vision/vision/vision:2.2/FRF91/277427:user/release-keys
6.) Hit menu and Save & Exit. You’ll get a message explaining that the original build.prop file was saved as build.prop.bak
7.) Reboot and try MMS again
This issue has been around for a long time, dating back to windows mobile, there have been fixes found and they work till the next update and then it's broke again. I would try the above. Then if that doesn't work if you really want to fix it. I would find one of the fixes for the WM version and see what was done and see how it can be moved to android. I have also heard that a 3rd party SMS app fixes it as well, nit sure about that though.
It is an issue with t-mobile and you will be hard pressed to find a solution in the inspire forum. I don't know what the fix is but I can assure you if you go to the sensation forum, or others where the roms are not t-mobile specific but the phone is widely used on that network, you will see what is changed by looking into the fix zips provided.
thanks for the responses everyone i will give the theories a try when i have the chance tomorrow hopefully something will work.

There may be 2 reasons
1.Your media volume is low(This happened for many so check that out)
2.You may have selected a language other than US in settings->language & Input.Try tinkering with different options.For me,putting it to US english worked

BTW, when said place firmware in root, do u mean the area where other folders are there like the downloads, pictures, movies, ringtones? Or the area where the other folders are like: root, sys, system, etc... Using es file ezplorer file manager, from normal android directly I can hit back and go back one more, where system and other folders are.

Vudu apk

Just read over on engadget that Vudu have finally released an app for select Android tablets (galaxy 10.1 not being one of them. The app is free, so I am wondering if any of the wizards here could nab the .apk and post it here for us to enjoy. Would be pretty awesome to be able to watch my ultra-violet movies on my note Thanks in advance

interesting. Just went to Google play to see and it still shows it as not being compatible with mine. Very strange. Oh well, thanks to you kind sir, I am enjoying it as we speak
Phones are not supported. I just tried this on my Samsung Galaxy SII
I could not press the play button because the UI does not let me scroll down to that. I can attempt to download but it is telling me I do not have sufficient storage. It downloads to the Internal storage and cannot be moved. I am trying to see what I am able to do with the application.
The screen on the note is big enough you should be able to navigate the UI though it may be a little difficult I was not able to log in until I searched for a title then the sign in was visible.

Gs3 doesn't have enough real estate either. I can barely hit whatever button is right under the cover art.
Asked me to log in. My vudu account is from Walmart and this app will only slow you to log in via fb or your normal vudu account.
Update
Changed lcd density to 300 and works well.

Thank you!

How do you do change the LCD density?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
If you are rooted, the easiest way is to get a market app that edits build.prop correctly. Do not use LCD density changer apps! They tend to not set permissions correctly and your phone will not boot all the way.
If you have adb, you can do the following after plugging your phone in:
Open cmd prompt
>adb shell
$ <-- is the shell prompt
$su
# <-- is the root prompt
#mount -o remount,rw /system
#chmod 777 /system/build.prop
#cp /system/build.prop /system/build.bak <-- make a backup
Open another cmd prompt
>abd pull /system/build.prop
Open WordPad or any text editor
Find the line that contains the keyword density
change that value. The smaller the number, the smaller everything on your screen gets. Most tablets are set for 240. The gs3 is normally 320. I only needed a little more space so i could see my movies so i changed it to 300.
Save the file
>adb push build.prop /system/build.prop
Go back to first cmd prompt
#chmod 644 /system/build.prop
#reboot

When in try to install it i get the error "Parse error There is a problem parsing the package." Does anyone know why i'm getting it or have another download i could try
I'm getting the same error

Normally that means that the package is corrupt. I would recommend downloading on a PC and copying the apk over.

Does anyone know where vudu stores the movies that you download I can't find vudu or my movie in the file browser?

You can do either or:
1. Hold down on the "host" file and a popup, (just like in your screen shot), select "Open as", then select "Text", then select "ES note editor", wait a bit and it should opened.
2. Just tab on the "host" file, select "text", then select "ES note editor", wait a bit and it should opened.
That's all. Just a reminder, this is the second time I hold hold hand through the process...LOL

Lucky no offence but you don't sound experienced enough to be editing system files. Permissions and how and what to edit require a bit more knowledge. Similar to the pm you set me about signature verification. If you carry on it is only a matter of time before you create a non booting or crashing device.
Go to the play store and download hosts editor and use apps like AdAway for controlling what ads you see.
Apologies if that came across as patronising. We all had to learn once but jumping straight in to the deep end when you don't know how to swim could be dangerous.

Trial and error can be a painful experience if you get it wrong. But yes it is one of many different learning methods. Not the safest or most sensible but if you are a risk averse person you can learn the hard way.

The easiest way yet to get tethering. NO decompile/compile necessary!

Hey guys!
Thanks to scrosler's brilliant discovery that all it takes is a simple "Yes" response from a server to enable tethering and seeing his method of modifying the TetheringProvision.apk file in oder to replace the entitlement.mobile.att.net with his server I just thought why not simply edit the HOSTS file in /etc ???
So I fired up root explorer and opened /etc/hosts, then put as first line:
74.208.15.145 entitlement.mobile.att.net
save/exit
That's it !! Now I was able to go to my own server and look in the log file what exact URL the phone is calling and found it's calling /mhs1
So I put a index.html unter /mhs1 that just reads "Yes" *with no newline afterwards!*
And voila!
Hotspot activates!
P.S. I encourage everyone with the possibility to do that to use their own server. Maybe Scrosler will be so generous to host the /mhs1 index.html on his server as well and provide his IP address. This IP here is a test server that is probably going to go offline in about 1 month.
And it gets even easier...
Using any of the ad-blockers out there (I use AdAway), just enter the HOST entry in the manual redirect list. Now it's not even necessary any more to browse to the /etc/hosts file
See attachment!
Or you could just use this. Even easier.

Oh cool! I didn't know ES now does that. Like foxfi it seems to trick the hotspot into turning on. I personally like the stock experience best with a quick widget on the home screen. That's why I used to hack the framework.
Good to know that now we have several options

Do we have to be rooted to use ES net manager?
Probably a dumb question.
