Anyone have a solution to getting the camera to work on stock non-rooted S3. Haven't tried to root it yet so ugh.

Does the problem persist through reboots? And have you tried force closing it and clearing app data?
Also, can you tell us more about what is going wrong? Force closing? Not saving pictures to storage? Won't actually take the picture? And is this a problem that's popped up, or is it a new device that you're having problems with? (Sorry for a million questions, but more info is always helpful. Even if I can't help, it might help someone who can.)

Yes. Yes. Yes. Every time I go into camera app it says camera failed. Even with third party apps.

Time to send it in for as replacement. If you want, do a factory reset and see if that fixes your problem. If it doesn't work then definitely send it back and get you a new one.

^ what he said. If a factory reset doesn't fix it on stock firmware, then it is a hardware problem.

Damn it. I thought so. Was hoping that some crappy app she downloaded might have hijacked it but nope still not working after factory reset. Thanks guys

I was getting some force close when trying to read a pm in tapatalk..so I uninstalled tapatalk & xda..then there was an update for titanium,,at that point the phone seemed to hang, so I rebooted the phone and then it would give me multiple force close of just about every app..keyboard force close etc...& some icons at the top of the screen that I have never seen before..ie a circular battery icon..
I was able to boot into rom manager..but not sure what to do next? Don't want to make it any worse..lol
What ROM?

Everything was force closing.. No keyboard.... Really strange!
So at the moment it's fine... But WEIRD!

Thanks.. Just don't understand why.... I don't know if this started with talkapk, it was force closing when I was trying to open a pm.. or if it was titanium or supersu?
kind of freaked me out though...!
A great reason for backups

Yeah, maybe... It seemed fine at first... Now just updating some 200+ apps Fortunately I had a CWM backup from a couple weeks ago....
But nothing worked on the phone... Thankfully I could get into recovery... Phew

Fixing force close issues
The best thing to do for force closes is to go into ROM Manager, scroll down to where you see "Fix Permissions" and run them. It fixes force close problems all the time for me

Thanks, but the phone was at the point where it was unusable... The only functionality was with the volume & power buttons... Lesson learned... Along with Titanium do a CWM backup weekly... It's amazing how much you can change on your phone, without realising it!

After your xda HD app repeatedly force closes and you get send a report, where does the report go to. I have sent several dozens of reports every time the xda app force closes on my SG Tab2 10.1. ??? What happens next?
Anyone know? Can someone share.

Tried that several times with all three apps, xda free, xda prem, xda HD, still no good. Deleted all installed just one, still no good. Tried all apps by themselves, no good.

Am considering unrooting just not sure how to go about it. Not sure if reset will do it, this way I can start fresh. I have stock root, no custom roms yet.

I sincerely hope this is not another thread about this issue, if so please forgive me, I have made an effort to research this on my own, but not being incredibly savvy with tech lingo here, I thought I'd post my problem. It would appear that version has an update for my s3 that continues to prompt me for download.
When I accept said download, (I'm not sure what the update is) is doesn't take. Attached is a screen shot of what happens when the download fails. This phone is rooted, I have manually applied the first ota update from Verizon about the modems, I noticed an error in the below picture with the line backup assistant which is a program I have removed. I have the Google now install manually added (done prior to ota) any ideas? Apologies in advance if this in fact another repost of many other threads.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2
That's because you are trying to accept a "stock" OTA update via a "non stock" recovery. CWM won't work to install a Verizon update.
For an OTA update from the carrier, you pretty much have to be 100% stock, especially your recovery.
It should also be of note that during re flash I have tried selecting the option to ignore verification and still nothing.
Verizon continues to prompt me this ota update constantly. I had read somewhere there was an app on the Google play store for this but I have no idea what to look for.
Thanks guys, love this forum, even though I generally lurk.

Disregard last message lol. Any ideas on stopping my phone from constantly attempting to install this?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2
Do you have titanium backup? If so, go in and freeze fwupdate and that should fix it! You can also use this to stop the updates.
Awesome, I do have Titanium backup and have frozen the file. Thanks man!
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent SkyBlue Tapatalk 2
Freezing then file did not work. It still prompts me. I'm hesitant to buy the app if titanium should do the trick. Am I possibly missing something else?

You need to freeze a file called SDM. Then you will be good. Or you can go into system apps and rename the file to .bak if you do not own TB pro.
Looks like that was the culprit, hope this thread helps anyone else who has this issue!
Thanks again for all the help guys.

Thanks as well. note the complete finemane is SDM.apk
So I have this idea but the problem is I have no idea how to go about making it happen. But it's a pretty simple idea and I think some of us would like it. So what this idea is....
You would have an Aroma-based script which allows you to select the bloat you wish to remove from a freshly installed stock rom. We have plenty of list around that shows what bloat is safe to remove. Now I know what most of you are going to say... we already have a ton of market apps which remove bloat. But I don't want to install an app to remove other apps... a simple script that I could keep on my SDCard and run after the install to nuke these bloat apps before even booting would be a great alternative.
Anyhow, any thoughts on this?

Hi guys,
I recently took the latest OTA update and lost root, which is fine. My problem is, is that I cannot remove SuperSU and still have that annoying custom (with an unlocked padlock image) at start up. I did a factory reset thinking it would get rid of them, but it didn't. Can anyone help me out? DroidModderX suggested to flash a stock image in odin, but I don't know how to do that. I am still in the infant stages of doing stuff like this
Thanks!
