After rooting and switching from stock to Cyanogenmod nighties (10.1), I've noticed that the GPS does not work properly. After some time will acquire the signal, but instants after will display the large circle around and would just stop updating the position (while driving).
I'm sure it's an issue with Cyanogenmod, because my friend has the HTC Evo LTE and his GPS was working great. After switching to Cyanogenmod he has the same issue. The same weird behavior with the signal.
I should also mention that if I press the power button and turn off the screen and leave it for at least 3-4 seconds and then press the power button, the Map (Google Navigation) will be updated and GPS will show my current location. However, just after a few seconds will act weird again.
Anyone has any suggestion?
I use the GPS casually, so I'm not sure if I should switch back to stock or keep Cyanogenmod.
Thanks.
Nobody?
Every time I use navigation... I get "GPS Signal Lost" 2-3 times. Hate it.

It used to work FLAWLESSLY for me up until the ~Feb 20 Maps update; now it struggles to lock and is almost unusable. Tried wiping, FasterGPS/FasterFix and a few other things to no avail. Although others with different phones are experiencing some of these issues (just read the Maps reviews in PS) the problems seem to be hit and miss amongst users. I feel your pain

In the new OTA leaked ROM base, v3.28.651.6, this seems to be happening to many people, including myself.
<DC CONNECT> IO error: msg='/127.0.01:7771 - Connection refused
This happens after turing 4G on and then turning it off. You can see this error in logcat. and it repeats endlessly!
Does anyone know why or have a solution to this?
It has also been reported HERE.
4G works fine, it doesn't break 4G, it's just some stupid looping error.
its not just the new rom, it happened on 2.1 and 2.2 ota's.
It has been concluded that this is normal behavior, since the early builds. Apparently, that's how wimax works on the evo

That's pretty lame coding on HTC's part then. Why have something that is turned of try to reconnect infinitely to something. That has to waste resources.
It happened to me yesterday but when I rebooted I could connect and stay on 4g. Weird.

9pm - 4g Turned on, then off.
9-~12: screen always on, multiple reboots (4g turned on/off after each reboot)
~12pm - screen off the rest of the night (while in the error state)
The results to me look like any other day under the same usage conditions. To me, at most this is an annoyance when trying to logcat for something unrelated, but doesn't seem to affect battery like people have been posting in multiple forums.

I agree, I am at work for 14 hours a day and I come home with 35-40% battery left. Prior to this new leaked OTA ROM base, I came home with 5-10%. I use the same phone the same way, so regardless of this weird arror, battery life is still good.
Like the guy in the post that you linked to on the Sprint forum says, seems to go away if you Turn off 4G and then completely power down (Hold power button, and choose Power Off). A reboot doesn't fix it, has to be complete power down.
Agreed, it's a silly leftover, I usually just use some sort of a tail-like application, and just filter those out if i need to do logcat.
It's the 4G radio that causes major battery drain, not the repeated log messages anyway
Hi all. Was wondering if anyone out there is having GPS issues on 4.0.3?
I did the update just before I left home to go to Indonesia and now I'm here the GPS won't get a lock particularly when using google maps. Says it has sattelites in range but even with 4 or 6 won't get a lock. However did manage to get a lock a couple of nights ago using SkEye astronomy program.
Any feedback appreciated.
I experienced the sameproblem with Nexus S locking on GPS days ago. Usually when I'm in Italy, I'm always connected to internet and GPS lock very fast, helped by the network.
But days Iago I went to London, with pre-cached map of the city and in 3 days the phone NEVER locked on the GPS system unless a wireless connection. All it said was "Trying to get current position..." and after a few seconds "Impossible to get the current position. Retry later".
While trying to get the position on googlemap in the status bar I noticed the empty GPS-circle never started to blink...
Exactly the same thing happened to my brother device (also a 4.0.3 Nexus S).
What worked for me.
So Im using the Galaxy s2.
Leaked ics.
Gps bug.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/gps-doctor/com.epekware.gpsdoctor
It said it worked and now maps finds me as does 'places'.
Facebook now gives me places nearby but still says not found.
I zoomed in on maps and its pretty much got me to within a few feet. So it has to be gps. Towers gets you w/in a few states. (jk)
I have the same issue. With ICS my phone can't get a GPS lock.
I'm back on GB though.
Ive been meaning to come and debunk my own thread.
False alert everyone. It doesnt work. When I was on wifi it took my info from there and 'injected' it. For whatever reason maps etc took that as well enough.
On 3g it would seem to only triangulate my position and get it right to within hundreds of yards.
However I hope that the thread helps developers develop a bug fix. I saw qbking post a new ics vid today so maybe the latest leak is gps corrected. Well see.
flash a stock GB rom, Pete's for instance. Lock on to GPS in Maps. I use GPS test from Market also and Clear and update GPS with app. Reboot, then Flash ICS rom and benefit
GPS Test worked for me
Thanks for that. I had the same issue after updating to ICS - Glympse couldn't find where I was, Maps wouldn't use GPS, etc.
I installed GPS Test by Chartcross Limited (I haven't posted enough to post links, so I've replaced the forward slashes with back slashes "https:\\play.google.com\store\apps\details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jaGFydGNyb3NzLmdwc3Rlc3QiXQ..").

All I had to do was to use the menu to get to Settings, and use the buttons at the top of the settings to Clear AGPS and Update AGPS (I don't know whether both of these were necessary), and everything started working. I didn't need to reboot.

Anybody else having trouble with the WiFi not turning back on after waking from sleep? I'm using the "Only when plugged in" option for "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to conserve power.
What I'm seeing is when I am connected to a WiFi network and then lock the phone long enough for the WiFi to turn off, the WiFi will say it's on in the settings menu but won't show any available networks even if I hit "Scan". The only way to reestablish the connection is to toggle the WiFi on and off.
I've disabled Smart Actions because I thought that was interfering but it didn't help. I've also booted into Safe mode with the same problem.
My router is a Linksys WRT54GS. The settings are: SSID broadcasting, WPA2 Personal (AES), G-only.
I've attached before lock and after wake screenshots to show what I'm seeing.

I kind of see the same thing. Wi-Fi works fine until I leave the range of the router (e.g.leave the house to go to the store). Upon my return I see the same thing your screen shot shows. Turning off wi-fi and turning it back on solves the problem No other phone I've ever owned has ever done this.
I've tried auto connect, leave it on and off during sleep, reset the router and nothing has had any effect.
So it's not just me. I wonder if this is present on all phones or if we just got a bad batch.
EDIT: Well... for some odd reason the WiFi came back on from a sleep just now. I don't remember changing anything other than installing the 4.2 camera and changing the build.prop to a Galaxy Nexus. I shall investigate further.
EDIT 2: Could this perhaps be an ICS issue? (I came from a DROID X with GB) I ask because a GSIII in our house seems to be doing the same thing.
Not sure. My GS III will connect automatically without fail. I just got home with the Razr Maxx HD and had to go through the off and on routine to make it connect. I had the GS III last evening and it reconnected as usual once I got home.
There's an extensive thread on the Moto support forum where everyone is complaining about the wifi signal dropping randomly when connected. You are the only other person I've seen with our issue.
I haven't played with the GSIII extensively so it might have been a fluke that it did that.
I did see that thread but the Motorola support site has been loading very slowly on my end so I haven't been able to look through the whole thing due to my impatience with it.
Something's definitely wrong with the site. There's a thread for that as well LOL.
I've been wanting to update to android 6, but i heard that there are bugs, can someone please tell me the bugs that they have encountered
i have read somewhere that some edge functionalities have been removed, such as phone calls (they are not showing in the edge anymore, night clock, etc.) are there any other edge functionalities that are gone? when updating from Kit Kat to Marshmallow?, or should i update, i want the new Icons, screen off memo, air command ui - that is all i want from the new update (coming from stock kit kat)
thanks
We have a major bug in MM, fingerprint issue, it causes soft reboots. See more: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/help/mm-update-lockscreen-set-to-fingerprint-t3366375
Edge panels will work towards. Phone calls etc still shown on Edge screen.
Incoming phone calls still show on the edge, but the widget for shortcuts to direct dial contacts is no longer there. I use the paid edge panel Quick Contacts as a workaround.
Camera button shifted to main screen in Lollipop and stays there in MM.
Night clock does not show the weather.
Other things are more less the same on the edge.
S pen is much better and the system runs much smoother. Personally, found it a good upgrade except for the two annoyances above.

The fix on the Verizon model is to turn off the three animation settings in developer settings. Turn them all of the way off. Mine (Verizon model) hasn't done the soft reboot since I changed it this morning. It had been doing it CONSTANTLY since way back in July or whenever we went to Marshmallow on the Verizon version.
PLEASE let Samsung Support and your carrier know that this is a problem that THEY need to fix.
It was driving me absolutely crazy.
Credit goes to nilknoc on Verizon forums.

does the edge auto shuts down on 11 % battery ?
Update. No missing function. Only issue is if you use a fingerprint occasionally the device will software reboot and force you the enter the backup password and give no option for fingerprint. Very annoying but you could just use pin or another lock option.
The fact that our Nougat update got a bit late was annoying. The update was released and them feels were amazing..
However, at this point I am about [.....] < that close to throw my phone across the room... every single time I lose not only my WiFi connection but at some times even my cellulair connection...
This has never happend on either Lollipop (5.1.1) or Marshmellow (6.0.1). My phone has never been rooted and is up to date according to the last Samsung updates. I am currently running the latest 7.0 build (NRD90M.G920FXXUE5QE8), Security patch of May 1, 2017.
Some screens to show my issue:

}
As you can see, the first show no cellulair connection but a working WiFi...
The second shows the other way arround, no WiFi but a working cellulair connection. Both screens are taken tonight a few minutes apart.
I have tried:
- Reboot
- Wipe cache
- Forget and reenter WiFi
- Safe mode to exclude apps (but even in safe mode both connections will fail at some time)
I have performd a factory reset just after the OTA update and I haven't changed anything special within my phone, haven't installed any extra apps.. So I am a bit lost.
Anyone else with this issue?

I have the same issue. Not really sure what to do. I'm thinking of just taking it to the Samsung store and trying to get it replaced.
Did you find any solution?
Sounds like your data keeps bouncing from hspa to LTE and back. Whenever it does that it can be disconnected for more than a minute. Make sure you don't have download booster on and maybe lock connection to one type. Wcdma or gsm. Other than the usual crappy s6 signal it has been worse on mine since nougat aswell.
