This tablet is a great piece of tech, however I've had two major problems with it. AMOLED screen burn-in and random reboots/shut-downs.
In the past week it's at least turned itself off or rebooted itself 9 times. Is anyone receiving this problem? Also in the past 3 hours or so, it's been rebooting to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 screen just before the tab turns on and gets stuck there. I managed to get out of that situation but I'm not sure how.
If you have problems list which version of the tablet you have, your firmware or kernel version and your specific problem.
Hopefully we can get Samsung's attention if theres enough people and have this patched with an update. Or maybe it'll all go away with ICS... just being optimistic lol.
If anyone knows any sort of customer service or someone from Samsung I can email about this problem that'd be appreciated.

I don't have the problem but if I can maybe suggest, have you reset the device back into factory setting?
Your not the first one to ask this nor your alone, this also happens with the Galaxy Note with some users, I've never been able to pinpoint the cause for this on the note.. I'll see if it happens on my Tab7.7 when I get it tomorrow.
Do you by any chance have a sim card inserted? I noticed yesterday as I was working with AT&T to get my device set up that each time I had to take my sim card out (to give them the serial number) the Tab would reboot on its own.
I have had 2 reboots since getting my tab, very weird.

We need more people to chime in and see how wide spread this issue is, it could be cause by a very aggressive deep sleep state that is used by samsung?

I thought that factory resetting it would help but as far as I can tell it hasn't. I tried that about a week ago but am willing to give it another shot if someone proves me wrong. Thanks for the input though.

I have the wifi version so I don't have a sim slot. Sorry for not being more specific in the opening. Although I remember someone else mentioning that their sim may have been the problem. Thanks anyway.

Maybe something with the processor, they're relatively similar aren't they? Anyway hopefully I didn't discourage you from your tab, it's still one of the best pieces of tech. Lets hope this problem isn't that widespread and if it is lets hope for a patch or something, maybe with the ICS update hehe.
Have had my GT-P6800 for about a month and I have had several random reboots -- since the reboot is complete and I end up where I was I cannot determine what's behind it.
Haven't had reboots, but I've ran into issues with it turning itself off at least once a week. Currently on LA2 firmware.
I had about 4-5 reboots in a week . don't remember details .
Is everyone using 3G card that are having reboots? I did NOT have any reboots until getting a 3G card this weekend. It JUST did it. Also, I notice if it's on charger (not USB) that when it's full it will more likely reboot. That's my $.02.
My 7.7 p6800 has not exhibited any reboot. I am on KL1..but it has prompted me to update...

I just got my Tab7.7 but I do not have a spare simcard yet to test if its causing the issue but I will update this post for any findings

yep, my tab prompted me to update as well, I it yes, it downloaded something over wifi, then it rebooted, then it goes to recovery and installed the new stuffs, then said "failed" lol
I only have one crash that is when I used the cam then hurriedly hit back several times, then it froze and rebooted, that's the only time it did it
I've structured the OP a bit better hopefully. I've provided my details and asked people for theirs.
Going to go look for who to complain to now lol.
No reboots yet but I did see it wake up to the lock screen while it was sitting on my desk, I have it in flight mode if it matters. It was actually spooky..
Ok I just had the sleep of death on my Tab7.7
Airplane mode but wifi is enabled, the last thing that I was doing was watching a movie and locked the tablet to take a phone call on my other phone. No SIMcard inserted only a 32GB microSD card.
Hi all.
Got my tab 7.7 3G about 3 weeks ago. Rooted on day 2 (this is my 4th droid so pretty confident doing so.... but...) using the simple root method posted somewhere here in XDA.
Not sure if this is related to the rooting, but I've had about 6-8 reboots, several shutdowns and one really strange rebooting which led to the tab unresponsive to anything (only showed the samsung name logo). I was about to factory reset again (I did about a week ago but only because I forgot to reboot after I rooted) when the tab suddenly woke up and started booting normally.
Normally until apps started loading and for almost all the apps, errors of some kind started popping up.
Since I had control again, I factory-resetted the tab.
Since then, I've had no reboots or shutdowns. I do not know why.
Other strange quirks - sometimes, when waking the device with a quick push of the power switch, the screen does this strange graphic swirly thing (almost seems like a graphic image gone mad while loading) and then loads the proper graphic/lock screen.
Sometimes too, when changing orientation, the graphic seems to lag behind the action. Not all the time though. I use Go Launcher as my default but I've noticed the TW screen do the same thing when I change orientation.
As far as Go launcher is concerned (I use it as well on my GS2), only the dock seems to have a problem - when flicking from one dock to another, the next dock does not 'center'.
So far I am a bit disappointed and hoping (hugely) that ICS releases this tab to its dual core, SAmoled glory.
Edit - if I were to say which was the biggest disappointment, that would be the media rescan. When I have a new photo or image, the image does not appear right away in Gallery. When I try to use the music player, the player will not load (rescanning) but the image appears in gallery after.

Hm, mines rooted too. I wonder if that affects how often you get a reboot/shut-down? Still, it better get fixed with an update.
Btw, don't use this tablet as an alarm. I woke up half an hour late to find that the tab was off. I turned it on and the battery was at 60% so it definitely wasn't the battery running out. Maaan was I late for school lol.
tab 7.7
I have the same problem especially when watching the movie or downing torrents after the screen shutdown especially when the battery over 50%. when I want to switch on the screen, the tab will not response until long press on power button switch on with galaxy tab 7.7 screen. that means it was shut off !
hey guys, i've bought an new tf300t for me. it went extreamly good and i'm very impressed. the first day went well, I only installed a few apps, tested them until the battary was empty for the first time, so I charged it during the night (in power-off mode). The next day, as I took my new tablet and pushed the power button, a thin (1 pixel width) line appeared on the screen. It went from the left to the right edge and has benn on the screen the whole time. Nothing did work, I reseted it, made a factory reset, nothing worked
Do I really have to send it back because of the hardware malfunctino or is there any other sultion?
Thanks for every answer!!!
If you are on the latest firmware .30 and you still have this line you should exchange it for a new one.
bring it back to the store
bring it to the store were i live theirs a 14 day law and warranty shod cover it but looks like ether you can get to the recovery so you rom might have gotten mest up up
nope
i didn't even root it, nor there wasn't any custom rom... it passed out on the second day of useage.
Hello all, i am having a couple of problems with my sensation, firstly its a refurb supplied by an insurance company and they only gave it a 30 day returns policy which expire over a month ago,i had already sent one back where the microphone didn't work.
The first problem is that i have a green flickering that appears on just over half of the screen (see attached video) it comes and goes but is there most of the time now,if it gets really bad in the area where the screen flickers the graphics within that area goes corrupt almost as if someone has brushed the graphics down the screen with a paint brush.
It is worse than the video shows but only have an old phone to take the video with.
Could this be hardware malfunction? It was there before i upgraded to 4.0.4 and there afterwards.
The second problem is since upgrading to 4.0.4 i have terrible battery life 8-9hrs max the phone keeps turning it self off, on nearly every re-boot "upgrading applications 0-32" comes up runs through the upgrading and then turns off again. these re-boots also suck the life out of the battery.
I haven't yet tried flashing a new custom rom to it as it has not been rooted etc yet.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I am 99% sure the screen flickering is hardware related. For battery life, firstly check for battery draining apps running in the background. The android is upgrading message happens when android is building the dalvik cache and seems to happen only when dalvik cache and cache are wiped on deodexed systems, however it seems to happen on every boot on odexed systems but either way, its normal and nothing to worry about
oh well time to phone the insurance company AGAIN then, just as you get all your progs/games on your phone you want on there, somethings screws it up.
was gonna flash a custom rom to see if that worked out the screen probs but, i shall wait until i know what the insurance people say.
Thanks for the response
Now what to do for the best????
Ok so i contacted my insurance company and they agreed to take the phone and fix it for free, they have dispatched a special delivery envelope to me.
I have wiped my phone and got a little annoyed because i have got 29gb worth of programs installed and its such a pain in the arse to reinstall everything!
So the phone is now reset to factory settings and guess what......Thats right the fault has gone!
What to do still send it off with no visible fault?
Or keep it?
I cant see it being a program thats did it as i hadnt s-offed the phone or rooted it so there shouldnt be any software that can interfer with the phones screen can there?
I have had a few "huh humm" trial versions of games and apps on it,could there be mal or spyware that has done it or possibly where something may or may not have been [email protected]?
What to do.....
back a little bit...Damn phone
Well after the factory reset the battery life is a lot better.
The screen flicker has come back but very very intermittently so hoping that the tech guys at either the insurance company or more likely HTC as the insurance people quoted this "you should within 17 days you will get your phone back" will be able to see it.
All this trouble aside this is definitely one of the best phones i have ever owned and i love it,never did i think back in the days when i owned a titan II and a jade did i think i would ever see graphics like i do today, the game, application programmers/designers and the phone makers just keep on astounding me with what they produce.
Hi,
I am new here. i was in dubai a few days back and bought a brand new s3 mini for my father from an online website..the box was completeley sealed. and i opened it myself... for the first time when i put it on charge, it started charging right away but the when the battery ran out completely, i didnt charge it for atleast two three days until i returned to my own country from vacation.. now when i put it on charge, it does not start charging straight away. it takes 5- 10 minutes to start charging ( means, no vibration, no battery logo, just after 5 mins if u press the home button twice or thrice, it shows that it is charging.).then when we turn it on it gets stuck onto the samsung logo for 1-2 minutes. and operating the mobile while on charge is very difficult. like the screen wont unlock when swiped. or the key board doesnt work correctly,
i had this thought in mind that phone might be refubished,(as the website sold it a bit cheaper than the other store prices) so i installed the launcher pro, tried every method to check if the phone was refurbished but coudn't get any info.
yes i would like to tell here, that i am a girl with no technical knowledge about the phones, i just simply use a phone to call use some wifi etc. but getting into all of this has got me all confused. and as i had bought this for my father, i dont want to gift him a wrong, or used product.
so while trying to find out if the phone was refurbished or not, i found quite a few things listed below:
1. cpu revision is 0006a. i would really love to know what that means?
2. what is the difference between cal date and R.F. cal date? i might be sounding very silly..i kept on thinking that R.F might mean "refurbished". i really have no knowledge so just for my peace of mind.
3. the most important, i checked for updates. but it says.."your device has been modified". the device status says " custom" but then searching for long hours for a solution to this problem i found out on these forums how to go in the odin mode ( i still dont know what that is) but it says
custom binary download NO
current binary SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
system status OFFICIAL
i dont know anything about rooting neither could i get any understaing of it yet by reading the forums so rooting the phone by myself is impoosible
i have already tried hard reset. but device status in setting is still custom. and it still hangs for a minute or two on the samsung logo and still gets problem on putting it on charge..
how can i get to update this phone
do u guys think this website has sold me a refurbished set?
is there any other way to find out if the phone is refurbished?
they are offering me a full refund if i ship the phone back to them but i dont want to go in the hassle of doing so if these problems are corrected
please any help and step by step guide would be really appreciated.. now my hopes are from all u experts out there... please help me..

Well, i cant tell u if the phone was refurbished or not, but one thing you can try is downloading a stock rom from samsungupdates.com , or from sammobile, and flashing it via odin.
make sure you have the proper firmware for your phone, otherwise it will be bricked.
if you dont know what your firmware is, write what model your phone is, e.g. i8190, i8190l, etc you can see this either when it turns on, or in device settings>about device, and ill send a link to a download page.
search google on how to flash using odin, make sure you understand before doing anything what you need to do so there are no mistakes.
link to odin:

good luck!
I bought a Samsung Galaxy s6 last month. After a week of use I noticed few problems. Firstly, my phone used to turn off by itself (it was on the stock rom ) the problems appeared when I update to the latest android version ( 5.1.1 ). After one week every problem has disappeared and it was perfect.
But now, one month after buying it, new problems came. Color lines appears sometimes on the screen ( not everytime ) and then all the screen has changing colors and showing lines everywhere. To resolve that, i've just to turn off the screen and turn it on and everything goes alright but... after minutes, the phone turns off by itself and its very complicated to make it turns on. When I finally turns it on, I see again these lines and I can't turn on wifi and the camera.
It has never felt in the ground or in the water, so I don't think it's an hardware issue.. So I tried to flash a custom rom on it " XtreStolite-2.0 Odex.. " And the problems are still here.. I don't know what to do since I used all my small knowledge..
Hope someone will help me.
Thank you everyone.
