This should work for all models. The new craze is pie controls, and you need paranoid android to get them right? Wrong! Get LMT launcher and that's it! All credit goes to zedomax for finding it, and I am just informing you.
Step 1. So, let’s get to it. First, you will need a rooted Android smartphone or tablet.
Step 2. Next, download the latest version of LMT launcher from XDA. Then install it using ES File Explorer app.
Step 3. Open the LMT app, and hit “Start/Stop TouchService” to start the LMT launcher.
Also, you can set “Autostart TouchService” to value 1 if you want it to start when your phone/tablet reboots.
Step 4. For the gestures to work correctly, you will need to set “Set gesture input”. Refer to the device list below and choose the right value for your device. If you don’t see your device in the list, try a device with similar display specs.
Step 5. Test your new PIE control by swiping from the center right-side edge of your screen. You should see a “basic” PIE control like shown here.
Step 6. You can change the color of your new PIE control in Settings under “Pie Colors”
Step 7. Also, the PIE Control defaults to the right side of the screen, you can also activate it for left side of the screen (for left handers), bottom of the screen, or even have it activated for left, right, and bottom.
Step 8. Next, you can customize the PIE Control buttons any way you like by going to PIE Settings and setting them up to 10 buttons and also 10 longpresses.
Step 9. When you add an app, you might not see the logo of the app.
Simply set “Show app images” in settings to 1 or 2 to make it show app logo.
Voila!!!
Step 10. If you set all of your buttons, you should see a nice PIE Control with 10 shortcuts!
Step 11. You can also add gesture shortcuts easily. First, make sure “Set TouchService mode” is set to value 1 otherwise they will not work.
Step 12. Next got to “GESTURES” tab and add your favorite shortcuts.
Step 13. Also you can go to “ISAS” tab and set invisible swipe shortcuts.
Once you are done setting your PIE Control and gestures, you are set to go.
Enjoy and go show off to your iWhore friends how much better your Android is.
And here's a link to the original instructions although mines are the exact same, but just go if you love to waste bandwidth

Very nice of you to have posted the link for Note 10.1

Thanks for this app. It goes really well with Full!Screen for notetaking. I'm having a problem with application icons during dark when scaling them to a smaller size. Does anyone know the cause for this?
Perfect match made in heaven!
Full!screen and LMT pie launcher!
Now it only LMT could launch apps in Window Form like the bottom launch bar.
Thanks for the post this is really nice:good:
It drains the battery, so it’s impossible to use it in production
I haven't noticed any drain.
the battery meter in Android Settings does not indicate anything about LMT suggesting the battery consumption must be less than 2%
Where App are you looking at that shows the drain is from LMT?
I can get the pie to work, but not the other two functions. Did you get them to work, and if so, what settings did you use?
No, I can't get gestures to work, I only use pie, sorry about that.

I created this application out of my need as I used S Memo for taking notes, meeting minutes and using the widgets as the sticky notes. I found memo to be the closest one but widgets was broken and I decided to create a new application based on SPen SDK 2.1
Features of GNote
1. Multiple widgets which remains even after reboot. Widgets are updated as soon as the corresponding note is edited.
2. Multiple pages with easy navigation
3. Update existing widgets note
4. Simple toolbar which can be hidden.
5. Notes Gallery for managing notes. (image of the first page of the note is shown in notes gallery)
6. Notes Gallery - Multiple notes can be deleted.
7. Images from gallery and camera can be added to the note.
8. Settings - option to disable back key
9. Settings - option to disable finger touch.
10.It remembers last used pen and eraser settings and uses the same when the app is launched next time.
11. Very smooth and does not lag.
12. Clicking on the title bar of widget opens a new note
13. Clicking on the body of the widget opens the note corresponding to the widget.
Compatible with ICS and JB.
Change Log
0.2
1. Add Images from camera and gallery
2. Layout changes to improve user experience
3. Added Settings and about screens
0.3
1. Background colors can be added to the notes. The same will be applicable to the widgets
2. Settings - Left Hand (Please report if not working fine)
3. Settings - Option to enable/disable pinch zoom
4. Notes Gallery now shows the count of pages in each note.
5. Note is saved without any confirmation. Further, you can save the note on demand using the save button. Note is saved when you navigate to some other activity or on exit of the application.
6. Some Icons changed (still a WIP).
7. Saves the notes faster. reduced the saving time by 50%.
an many insignificant fixes.
0.4
1. Note can be shared now
2. Note can be exported as a png image
3. Text can be added to the note
4. Tool tips are added to the toolbar buttons
5. Selected tool is highlighted in white(applicable to pen, eraser and text)
6. reverted the icons to holo light theme
7. Minor Bug fixes
If you find any bug please report it here. Do not forget to mention the Rom on which you are. Do not report bug if used other than galaxy note
You can donate to me by using about dialog from the application or from here. Donations are not necessary and will not have any effect on the development of the application.

Like the app, very useful! It would be nice if we could change the background color of the widget and maybe try to steamline the widget title bar, it takes up space. All in all really like it and see a lot of potential!!
Thank you!
Marty
Customization and Background colors will come later as I need to tackle some of the basic stuffs like image and text. All suggestions than can improve user experience are welcome and are potential candidates for future releases.

Nope.
Be aware that someone can do it before you and "steal" your app by this way.
There were some cases like that in the past.

I would have paid $25 but Indian users cannot sell paid apps currently on market and there is no way for me to regain those $25. Do you know any other alternate site where I can upload my application.
If i'm not totally wrong, you can upload your app to the Play Store, but you can't sell it. It has to be free. Or if you want to sell apps on the Play Store, you'll have to find a person (that you trust 110%) who can sell your app(s) on your behalf.

I searched a lot but the only answer I get is pay $25 and upload free or paid apps. Since, this application is free, its best for me to host it on XDA.
Have a disclaimer after installation which says "this app is free. If you bought yours, get a refund now." or something. XD
WOW!

I've been playing around with Mark Wei's splendid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688531StandOut library and thought I'd share one app I've been finding useful.
It's very basic and very beta.
FloatNote v1.0.4b
Edit:
Thought I better provide some info
This app is very simple. It floats on top of other windows and lets you scribble notes or little sketches.
I wrote it for me and my phone so I know it runs okay on a Galaxy Note under cm9.
It's written for the galaxy note stylus so pressure increases pen stroke width and the side button gives you the eraser.
Select ink colour by swiping your stylus along the rainbow thing on the titlebar (the title text shows the selected colour). Click the sidebutton when touching the rainbow to return to black.
It autosaves your note and autoloads it when the app opens again.
Resize the window with the triangle in the bottom right corner.
I'm using the android native API so it may work okay(ish) on other devices. If it does, let me know.
Enjoy...
Nikad
Latest Update:
Version 1.0.9b
Changelog:
Major rewrite - had to do away with Mark's standout library and reimplement some of its functionality.
Hide and restore from the notification bar
Share note with other apps, email, etc
Saves position, size and pen colour.
Lots of bug fixes and improvements in performance/reliability
Important:
This app requires API Level 14 or higher to detect the stylus so you need ICS.
There are known issues running under Touchwiz so stick with a CM9/CM10 variant.
Know to run okay on the Galaxy Note International, I717 and the HTC Flyer.
If anyone runs it on other devices I'd love to know!

No quick launch yet, sorry
If you've ran the app already, you can launch it from your recent apps. But...
Improvements in mind include being able to hide the window and then show it when you click on the notification (I had this on an earlier alpha and just need to add it back in).
Multi-page note: support for more than one page.
Share note (with whatever).
I'm not going to go too heavy on functionality though. The idea was to be simple and uncluttered.
Thanks for you interest...

New version on its way. Just going through last testing and tweaking so maybe tonight/tomorrow morning.
Ended up doing a major rewrite just to provide a small amount of additional functionality. But it's all good! It even ended up smaller.
We now have an app that will hide and restore from the notification bar, can share the image with other apps and loads of reliability improvements.
I haven't had a chance yet to run it on other devices or on stock roms so all I can say is it works on the Galaxy Note under CM9.

I'm glad you like it. Thanks.
If you're on a call, just pull down the status bar and click on the notification. It's a bit of an illusion that it's "hidden". Really the app is shut down and relaunched when you click the restore notification.
By the way, I see you running a stock rom. Does TouchWiz not cause problems with FloatNote?
Thanks again for your interest!
Ok. That makes sense. I can restore it from the notification bar if it is hidden.. only thing the app must be up and running before that..
I do not use Touichwiz when there are great lauchers namely Nova these days.. It has been some time since I went back to TW
I use float to be called in one of the gesture of NOVA which is great. You would do a scrolling option on the screen if possible. That will help me add longer notes rather than extending the window,,
Thanks. :good:

On my Note 10.1 (JB 4.1.1, German stock rom, rooted), there is a strange bug which I could track down to SPen Control after three factory resets.
I noticed suddenly, that it was no longer possible to install .apk from outside the Play Store. The effect is/was, that when trying to install an apk from system level, the message about the already existing apk pops up (if existing) and afterwards the window showing the permission requests of the app.
There, as long as SPen Control is active, the "install" button does not accept input. The "cancel" button instead works as well as the arrows inside that window to open/close detailed views of the requested permissions.
As soon as SPen Control is terminated (stop service and exit), the button works again.
So, this is a workaround (before manually installing an app, exit SPen Control), but nevertheless, that should be fixed.

_If_ this is implemented, please make it optional. I have a second external pen (with clip and eraser) which I use and the internal one remains in place.
That's why I do not use the "power saver" feature to enable the digitizer only in case of a removed pen.

I'm investigating it and if possible I will add option for it. This only make sense if I can start application with this event. If I need to run service for it to work then it does not have any meaning, because application is "sleeping" when there are now events. Or in developers terms, thread is in "waiting" state and it does not consume cpu time.
I developed other application Gesture Control for touch gestures and despite there are more touch events that SPen events, applicatio never appears in battery stats on my devices. I don't think you will notice any battery decrease with SPen Control too.
ah sorry my fault. wrong Word!
i dont really care about the Service it's more the app in the Status bar thats annoying me!
And the Note 10.1 does Support app Start when you unplug the Pen. altough you cant choose your own app.
(But somehow its broken for me now.... maybe because i flashed another Kernel or other stuff.)
Great app! +1
I bought the application and works really well but it would be very useful (and easier) to create custom gesture by drawing them, like G for google or F for facebook for example.

It depend on the ROM you are running, most stock Android will popup the task manager when pressing Home for few seconds, HomeFlip should preserve this behavior by default.
I'll check CM9 (this is what you are running right ?) internals to see if there is a way to hijack this, but keep in mind that I try to keep HomeFlip as non-invasive as possible, so any features that require additional permissions or dirty tricks is a no go for me, Respect peoples phone is my policy

I know the long-press home action, and of course, I don't like it . I have a cheap and weak phone (HTC explorer), so your animation seem a bit laggy . I have a dedicated button for recent apps, but it take about 1-1.5 second to load . So go to home and tap app icon is even faster than using the recent apps menu .
Looking for the update . By the way, the apk size is tiny, but cached process need 10MB, is that normal ?

I have a dedicated button for recent apps, but it take about 1-1.5 second to load . So go to home and tap app icon is even faster than using the recent apps menu .
Looking for the update . By the way, the apk size is tiny, but cached process need 10MB, is that normal ?

You can disable the animation from settings (context menu).
HomeFlip to not not cache anything by itself, but it is possible that the OS itself cache information (i.e. icons), I'll have a look.
Anyway, Android is getting good at managing memory itself, the times where you had to manually kill tasks are hopefully over.
Thanks.
HomeFlip 1.01 available now.
HomeFlip Version 1.01 available now:
changes:
- Settings / Added support for multiple launchers.
- Settings / Added background dimming customization.
Full theme customization coming up next, stay tuned.
Enjoy.
I'm probably missing the obvious here, but I absolutely can not find the settings. Awesome app though, if I could only find the settings to change the default launcher!

I like this a lot. Running it on my Nexus along with ADW launcher. Very fast and smooth. Subscribing to this thread to keep an eye on things
@above How did you get to the settings on your nexus?

Hey Guys! I just got my Nokia 8.1 today and it came with the notch hidden. I was surprised when I could't find the option to turn it on in the developer settings where it should be named Full Bezel.
So I tried googling it (duh!) and I've seen a lot of people complaining about it but there was no easy solution., just something over SDK or something, which I don't really know how to use.
So basically the option is hidden but it is still in the settings.
Soooooo I got an Idea and tried this:
1. Install Nova Launcher (you don't have to use it, just install it)
2. Tap And hold on home screen and go to widgets
3. Chose Nova Launcher - Activities and place it on home screen
4. Scroll Down until you find settings and open it
5. Now scroll all the way down until you see Status bar style (.settings$NotchSettingsActivity)
6. Select it
BOOM! A direct shortcut to the Full Bezel setting!
Hope this will be helpful to someone. :fingers-crossed:

Glad to hear that. [emoji4]
Some people reported that the option came back after the system update so I hope it will be fixed soon, but until then this is a good solution. [emoji16]

System UI > Glance Style
And yeah, it changes nothing.
Btw, if you chose System UI demo mode from System UI you'll get a System UI tuner where you can manage icons on notification bar. I've added a headset icon because it's not showing by default when it's connected.

Hello,
according to nokiapoweruser dot com, seems that there is a new update including February security patch that enables the option directly in the settings
It is not yet available in my location, let's see

Yeh, yeah, I saw that, too, but then only a small percentage of users got the update. That's why I had to find an alternative solution. And still there is no update in my region as well. And it's March 11! Hopefully they'll skip the previous one and give us the March SP update.
Edit: Just got the Feb... I really was hopping they'll bundle it with March SP but it doesn't matter. Hopefully the next one wont be delayed as much.
Anyway, even after the update I don't have the option to turn the notch on and off directly from settings.

yep got the update as well and option is not present
You can download Settings Database Editor from Playstore. Look for Notch full bezel and set value from 1 to 0. Works on my european model.
the update didn't remove this ability
They only moved it to another place away of developer options
So , Just navigate to the Display Option > Advanced >Full bezel
and it lays there

This is only working method to my 8.1 from latest update.
Yes, here 8.1 too. Other methods failed.
Full bezel available in settings/Display/Advanced/Full bezel (set the background colour of status bar in black tick/untick).

Nope, not in European model.
As i have read this article, i have realized, that there are many things about my nokia i didn't know about/ God bless you for that. I use Microsoft Launcher instead of Nova, so i found Activity Launcher in Play Store, that does pretty the same thing as Nova shortcut. God bless you.
Just want to mention that if someone wants to hide the notch but can't find the option in Settings, try this app called Nacho Notch. Works really well. Also has adjustable dimensions for the status bar, navigation bar and the corners of the display
