Help me out to get new phone - General Questions and Answers

ok guys i need an advice about this
i have 2 phones in mind HTC Sensation XE or Sony Xperia ARC S
i only have those 2 option so please which is better to get and have best performance i heard that htc have laggy situation and it's battery ran off real quickly so i'm confused right now , and i need help

The HTC Sensation is a really great phone. It is not laggy at all. Fast processor. If there is a battery drain, it has everything to do with the apps and the ROM that is being run on the phone and not about the phone's quality.

Hooked on sense but dunno if to change?

Hi, my upgrade is in 3 months and I'm stuck at what to get, the phone i have at the moment is a HTC desire hd, so am used to sense UI, basically I'm stuck between 2 handsets either HTC sensation or xperia arc??
I like to put custom roms on my device and play around with it a lot, but the sensation bootloader is locked and I've also looked through arc dev forum on here and didn't find much by way of roms.
So am really stuck between the 2??
Just wondered if anyone could give some advice as to which one to possibly go for, if they got experience with the handset or just what they've general heard or know?
Thanks in advance to anyone that could help

I would stick with the DHD. its an really good device. C:
Otherthan would i take the arc since the screen of the sensation is crappy in my eyes.
Would the dual core play a major part to getting the sensation over the arc??
I don't really know much about dual core and wondered how much better it would be over a single core?

[Q] couldn't find a sensation xe forum so i'm guessing that i can ask about it here

I currently have the DHD, and I was kind off interested in the sensation XE as a possible upgrade, finance is not an issue, but i was really discouraged after reading about the sensation's ''Death grip'' issue.... I have looked around on the internet but couldn't find any suffiecient responses regarding that issue....
1.do you guys know if the death grip probs are still being reported by sensation XE users???
2. if no, do you recommend me upgrading my DHD to XE??
**motives for upgrade== better specs, better battery life i.e more movies, more **games etc. , better music experience, and last but not least to possibly get **the new version of android and htc sense
p.s plz feel free to recommend any other device for a possible upgrade (excluding Galaxy s2 )
Ive just upgraded from the DHD to the XE and i couldnt be happier! I havent noticed any issues with a 'death grip' at all.
Dual core is smooth and havent had any lag, beats sounds amazing (although i know they have a runnymede port on dhd anyway), the headphones are pretty good and phone feels the usual HTC quality. The thing i noticed the most is the better screen resolution, and as it has gorilla glass, there's no need for a screen protector!
All in all a very decent upgrade and id have no hesitation in recommending it!

If you live by that policy, you would never buy a new phone. Or a new PC. Or a new car ......
I've had no issues with death grip on my Sensation. Couldn't be happier that I made the right choice.
thank you guyz for the responses.....it really helps
And this members opinion I'd learn to ignore. Just for future reference .

For me it's working very nicely.
Galaxy Nexus
Yes any dual core will be future proofing yourself for newer OS's and allow you to run future apps with ease
Look, as SE has promised ICS update to ARC, hardware doesnt matters,
What matters to me is wifi/gps/ GSM/bluetooth signal and battery life
Main is death grip...is there any fix for that

My brother has the Xperia Arc. I have the Sensation. My brother is jealous of my Sensation.
For the Sensation:
My brother complains of a weird touchscreen issue with the Xperia Arc, where it becomes unresponsive to certain touches and seems to be a software issue with the UI.
The Xperia Arc is noticeably slower in loading apps, webpages and navigating the menu.
The Sensation has superior dev support and excellent range of ROMs to choose from, which make a powerful dual-core phone even faster and smoother.
The Sensation has a quality, metallic feel to it (the way smartphones should feel), while the Arc feels like a plastic toy.
Against the Sensation:
That being said, the Arc does have a more ergonomic feel in hand. For some reason, the Sensation feels less comfortable and secure to hold in hand (especially when texting).
The deathgrip is a noticeable issue if you use WiFi, but it only affects WiFi, and not 3G/4G. Since I have a 5 Gb plan, I never use WiFi so this is not a problem for me.
Battery life on the Sensation is horrendous. The most I've gotten from a stock battery was 15 hrs of light use. However, I've since bought a $20 Chichitec 1900 mAh battery and will be seeing if it increases battery life.
I'm on my 2nd Sensation. My first had a dust under screen + touchscreen unresponsive issue so I sold it on craigslist and bought a brand new Sensation which has been perfect since.
Ultimately though, my Sensation looks beautiful and I love it. My friends with iPhones comment about how sexy it looks physically as well as the UI (with Thyparancy Honey HD theme). My Sensation has gotten a few of them to switch from iPhones to Android phones. So yes, the Sensation is boss.
The Arc is ok, has a bit of a brain fart when searching local media like it's own sd card, besides that it's not a bad phone, personally i don't like the launcher, sony did give us the opportunity to unlock the bootloader though so that's a bonus, but at the same time it's hardly comparable to the likes of the sensation.
Sensation all day.

It is not hard to root the Sensation. But it requires 1 more step as compared to phones that don't have security of the likes of HTC (S-on/S-off). The process is as follows:
S-Off Sensation using revolutionary from http://revolutionary.io/ <-- Extra step for new HTC phones
Install Recovery
Do a backup
Root Sensation using su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip

Depends on how much you wanna spend. Hd2 by far has the best support and cm7 runs fantastic on it since its been out for so long and its optimized for hd2 by the guys on the forum.
HTC Amaze looks promising. 1.5ghz CPU. Will easily overclock to 1.8ghz when it gets s-off and cwm. Might even run at 2ghz without risk of meltdown. Honestly I'd just say get a sensation or hd2. New S4 snapdragon should be out by q1 next year. Will be dual core capable of running at 2.5ghz without overclocking.

[Q] HTC sensation vs HTC one s

guys i have the option to get a new phone and im looking to get either the sensation for free or the one s. i just dont know if the one s is really worth the upgrade it or should i just stick with the sensation thats free till a better htc phone comes out?
im worried about development for the htc one s cause the sensation has a lot of support in this forum and a lot of roms and im scared the one s isnt gonna get as big as the sensation.. what are your takes?
thank you
I personally don't see any upside to the One S honestly. No storage extension, a non-removable battery, not a quad core. If you're looking for sense 4 the sensation has some stable and fast ported roms from the HTC One S.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
thank you man thats what i was thinking as well. i just dont know how stable the sense 4 for sensation is but ill look into it.
I just tried CoinDroid as my first Sense 4 ROM today - so far so good! No stability issues at all, and the camera's burst shots is DAMNED FAST.
But isn't the one s super amoled?

Both are still qHD. Amoled or not is simply a matter of personal preference.
The One S not having quad core is in fact better. (S4 > T3) Pretty much the only thing that appeals to me is the S4 in the One S.

Well what are the disadvantages of qhd super amoled? It's just so eye popping, you can't see your reflection on the screen when in use, better in light, less power consumption, larger optimum viewing angle, what isn't there to love about super amoled?

i currently have both the sensation and htc one s
and i have to say that HTC ONE S IS FRUSTRATING when trying to root , backup, restore or anything
the sensation was so good to me.
but the htc one s is faster than the sensation.
there is one bug with the htc one s when rooting and flashing to a diff rom is that wifi doesnt work. and i need my wifi.
if u r thinking on upgrading dont go for the htc one. SUCKS honestly.
stick to the sensation!

Between the two the non-removable battery is a deal breaker...
just my .02
One S has much better camera if that is important to you. I mean the actual sensor itself. Great in low light situations. However you're stuck with about 10 gig of user space and that can be kind of crippling with no external sd card. With the Sensation I have a 32 gig sd card which is great but I wish my camera sensor was better. Especially in low light.
HTC really likes to stick us between a rock and a hard place sometimes!

You guys do realize that this thread is almost a year old, right?

What do you think about the sensation?

Hi all, I think the htc sensation have much time to be at the top or at least in the top half of Android devices. Having a good dual core processor at 1.2 gigahertz with a good GPU Adreno 220 make it one of the best middle-fa terminals. Even if we look we can see how ferrules brand like Sony xperia s use the same GPU and even the htc One s3 s has its version with the same processor. I think the sensation is at the height of xperia S, htc one s, galaxy s2, galaxy foolish, Optimus 3D ... etc. what do you think? a hug
In terms of power lg's optimus 3d destroys our sensation. I'd say we have the best unofficial support though the s2 is probably more popular, followed by the xperia s. HTC didn't do a very good job on this phone, which is why they released the HTC amaze soon after to correct their mistakes.

I think my sensation xe was good, fast, and reliable with the original Rom it came with ,as soon as I updated to ics it became slow unresponsive , what Anoys me much is when you press menu and select settings ,the setting option remain highlighted for 2 seconds than you'll get setting menu ,where in gingerbread its instant ,for me gingerbrad was way faster than ics ,it still is .I downgraded to gingerbread ,I think HTC are amateurs when they update their phones not pros at all ,don't know how they manage to make a dual core phone with 750mb ram run slow..... On ics
I really love my Sensation XE... but only with custom ROM
Stock battery life is really great for me: about 20 hours with 1:30 hours screen on. I'm also satisfied about CPU performances.
Sensation is good phone..only the battery suck!!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2
Phones update all the time. I remember when the GS2 just came out. Now we have S4. The point is, if you have a good phone, keep that good phone til it dies. Or, keep things fresh, flash new Roms and have it live forever.
I love my Sensation even after a year, and despite it's issues, (proximity sensor issues) I still use it daily.

The BAD:
*Dust under screen flaw
*CPU draws too much power/runs too hot (Bad impact on battery life)
*Screen draws too much power (Bad impact on battery life)
*Lack of official updates from HTC. (GS2 got JB, we should have at LEAST have Sense 4, ICS)
*Generally poor signal strength.
