I just flash new RUU android 4.0 officially for my Desire S, now it happen to be stuck at black screen.
I cannot flash RUU again as the usb is not recognized.
what should I do now?
i'm already S-off with revolutionary, HBOOT 6.89.1.002
Thank you very much
R: Please help
You may be still able to flash a RUU via hboot with the flashable zip. Do some research in the forum and search for PG88IMG.zip with the ruu in it
Hboot problem. Get the v2.xx hboot. Flash it to your device. Try above or ruu again.

Hi all,
I am currently running on Hboot 1.17.1111. I had actually flash a coredroid rom, ICS onto my phone, without realizing that i need to flash my hboot to 1.27.
My phone was formerly flash on the gingerbread version. The rom was installed successfully but my phone now keeps restarting at the splash screen. I tried to look for solutions around to update the hboot with 1.23 then to 1.27. However, i am unable to install them. Is there any solution to this?
Thanks for the help
Pm your way put in sim card power volume down don't touch phone till u see ring will flash from and firm all in one shot then u can flash what u want

why would you update to 1.23 then 1.27...from my understanding of it, all you need is 1.23 hboot to flash to ICS and 1.23 can also run any GB roms as well, whereas 1.27 can only run ICS Roms
i tried to update to 1.23 but it doesnt work as well.
oh well, i thot that i need to update to 1.27 for the rom flash

Hboot 1.23 is firmware 3.12 and that's outdated ics roms. All the new ones use 1.27

So the story is I got this phone for tmobile and updated to ICS from OTA and then after that i did a recovery, in a attempt to root i could not turn s-off since it was using hboot 1.27.0000 so i unlocked the bootloader and flashed CMW recovery and flashed a zip file to root it...after that i flashed a MIUI rom...now I am stuck at HTC screen....
I can get into hboot and into recovery and flash any room how ever it still stuck at htc screen. I tried RUU and i get error 155 and PG58IMG wont work
am I screwed?
There is no s-off for your hboot i think which makes it so you can't flash roms.. well you can but it gives you a semi-brick..
I think running a RUU should do the trick not sure on this one tho someone confirm before op proceeds.

No your not screwed you need to go to your pc or laptop and you will need to have a copy of the Rom.zip you flashed and unzip it and when thats done you will the folders you will see a folder that will say kernel open it up and scroll down and you should see a boot.img you Will then copy it to the same folder that contains your adb driver and fastboot drivers in you will then open cmd and typ your commands to get your fastboot drivers working and then typ fastboot flash boot boo.IMG let it flash then typ fastboot reboot and watch the magic thank me later

Dude when you flashed a rom after unlocked bootloader.. You need to do one extra step

I am suprised no one else caught this, but there is a S-off for Hboot 1.27.0000
Juopunutbear S-off. Just follow this guide and or use this tool.
Yes you can s off but if you don't slow down and pay attention to what your doing you will end with a softbrick

Hi guys,
I've got some ****y problem. So I was on Jelly Bean rom with revolutionary S-Off but wanted to have feature full phone and thought ok go back to stock (bad idea...)
So I followed a tutorial flashed Eng Hboot and wanted to restore with an O2 Gingerbread RUU. Everything worked fine until I got Error 140 (Bootloader failure)...Now I'm S-On but I don't have any rom on my phone so I'm stuck in recovery.
S-On
Hboot 0.98.0000
Radio 38.03.02.14_M
In my opinion I have to get a goldcard to flash a ruu on top of all that **** ^^ Buuut I can't boot so no ADB, hence I can't get my CID. Tried some tools to get CID via card reader but It didn't work for me.
Any Help, Suggestions? Help me to fix my android and avoid to buy an Iphone ^^
Cheers
main version check fail...that stopped the RUU
Have a go at fastboot, if that doesn't work it will need to be sent off to the repair center to be reprogrammed by JTAG experts.

I can enter fastboot and do commands that's not the problem. Sadly my hboot seems to be too low for htcdev unlock -.- ...And I don't know of any method to get ADB working in bootloader, fastboot, ...
Can you get into recovery from fastboot? If so, you can run ADB from there.

Why not trying to flash the ruu that suits your carrier,
Besides, it's best not to use eng-hboot in order to get back to s-on, imho,it's best to upgrade hboot to revolutionary 7.x after using revolutionary s-off, it's compatible with most 2.3.5ruus and custom roms.
I can get into recovery but it is stock recovery...and adb doesn't recognize my device while i'm in there ...
The ruu suits my carrier, as I said the signature check was true but the version check failed...i would need a newer o2 ruu but that doesn't exist
help me pls^^
Can you flash a custom recovery, such as 4EXT or CWM, using a PG88IMG zip file on your sdcard?

Does this hboot makes more complicated to flash roms? I've read that is not possible to format system/lib, so some roms have to be changed. How to delete system/lib then?
Is it advised to stay on that hboot or should be downgraded or s-off?
As far as i know only few latest ICS based ROMs require new HBOOT. I am on Fallout 5.0, worked fine with older HBOOT 6.98.2000 (Revolutionary root)

You can stay on that hboot and use 4EXT Recovery to format /system/lib. It will remain empty when you flash a ROM that is not supporting it so there is nothing to worry about
EDIT: I may be wrong, just saw the post in Scanob thread. But you can test it. Make a nandroid backup (and/or put a ROM on the SDcard), wipe /system/lib from recovery and reboot. If the ROM boots then it is true (/system/lib cannot be wiped). If does not boot (then /system/lib is wiped) reboot back to recovery: "adb reboot recovery" - you need USB debugging enabled in ROM and adb drivers on the PC or with the 3 key combo (hold Vol Down + Vol Up + Power) and restore the backup or flash the new ROM
Can anyone confirm that /system/lib can't be wiped or formated with hboot 2.02.0002 ?
I'd like to try the stock ICS update but I'm afraid that the RUU will replace my hboot (2.00.0002 unlocked) with hboot 2.02.0002.

Did you try to flash your boot.img in CLI with fastboot like you did when you installed your cutom ROM ?
Edit : Your question has nothing to do with the subject of this thread (Hboot 2.02.0002 ).
The RUU ICS Update installs:
hboot: 2.02.0002
radio: 3831.19.00.110
This also prevents me from updating cause i´m also afraid that rooting and installing custom roms won´t work afterwards.
Is there an opportunity to downgrade from 2.02.0002 to another hboot and install a previous RUU to root it via revolutionary for example?
I'm no expert but, I have HBoot 2.00.0002. HTC dev unlocked. And I have had no problem flashing any rom. I have tried Andromadus, Flinny, NK111, Codename android, and I'm currently using Jelly Time R15.0 as my daily use rom.
I'm not afraid of not being able to root my DS after the ICS RUU. I would be able to unlock the hboot again, flash ext4, then install SuperSu from the recovery.
I'm just afraid that the 2.02.0002 hboot will make it difficult for me to install custom ROMs in the future if this hboot restricts effectively the acess to /system/lib. But I would also like to try the new radio of the ICS RUU.
The alternate path I'm considering to follow is downgrading my hboot, S-OFF by revolutionary, flash hboot 2.00.2002, then flash stock ICS using a PG88IMG.zip where hboot and recovery would be removed.

Yes, this hboot makes it more complicated to flash ROMs because you have to flash the kernel - boot.img - separately using fastboot. But if the ROMs all share the same kernel, then you can skip this step.
The hboot has the extra system/lib partition, but that is only used by the latest stock HTC GB OTA and the HTC ICS RUU. Custom ROMs generally don't use it.
This partition can be formatted, for example using 4EXT, just like the other partitions.

I personally found that it couldn't flash custom roms without s-off due to being unable to write the /system directory. I had to downgrade the RUU so that I could get S-OFF with revolutionary in order to be able to. If you are upgrading with the ICS stock ROM you won't need to, but you will need to re-lock your hboot to flash the RUU

yes i can, only extract the rom.zip and flash it via fastboot whit fastboot flash zip
No you can't. That's only flashing the ROM component of the RUU, it doesn't flash any of the other components, you might as well just flash a stock ROM if you're going to do that.

You never answered if you are s-off or s-on.
What is the current condition of the phone? If you tried to flash the JB RUU while SuperCID and S-on, flashing anything isn't going to recover you. Its bricked.
