Hi.
I have no idea why but I am getting random turn offs of the screen at times.
And when I push the Power button (Just push, kinda like unlocking the device), Everything seem to get reactivated, like the note just wake up from boot.
Started noticing it after installing a N8000 rom (which is not for N8010). Right now Im using a N8010 rom and its still happening.
Is it possible to be caused by an app that needs root access, like GMD Gesture Control? Since Im getting the "Granted permission" for it everytime the note gets "reactivated" (as stated above)

Whenever I lock my device, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. I must restart the device after I lock it every time. the lockscreen only works the first time u use it. Even if I hold down the power button, none of these work and I must do a hard shutdown. Has anyone else had this problem. I am on stock, with one firmware update, unrooted. I have the US WiFi model.
Update: I have tried a no lock app which skips the touchscreen. This works, but when the screen is unlocked no touch input is accepted.
Search for Entropy's Odin flash , and reflash.

Did You try to switch of lock screen completely in settings ?
?.............................
frozen lockscreen
That update has screwed up pen on many devices . Mine was like that too for a while . I have changed settings in stylus , disabling the pen detection , and after that when I remove pen touch does not work , when I put it back screen works again . I went back to the store and exchanged it for new device . Since I heard that samsung has pulled back that bad update , I tried to update and it is pulled back . But samsung is not doing the right thing . They should put old one as " update " so that people can fix their devices . Find and flash rooted UEALGB rom and you will be fine
I saw this behavior when battery was low. After charging it up the issue went away. This was after the update so that might've introduced the behavior. Another GN 10.1 without update doesn't do that.

This does not work. When I turn the screen back on no input is registered. I am going to fully charge it now.
Ok, i seemed to have found the problem. I was on vacation for the last 3 days, and I had forgotten my S-Pen at home. On the last night I began encountering these problems. I have just gotten home and was able to test the tab with the S-Pen and it was not accepting the S-Pen input at all. I restarted the tablet, with the S-Pen in its holder this. Now everything works perfect! This was very strange but I am glad that it is working now. Thank you all for your help.
So, say I install a new kernel, or update the rom, or just want a reboot or whatever.
Well my phone will reboot quickly, but then will seem to lag really badly when the phone is turned on.
For quite a long time (maybe 20-60 seconds, i havent counted) my power button doesn't do anything. My phone is responsive to touch, etc, but the power button won't put it to sleep.
Then about 20-60 seconds, again I haven't actually counted but it seems like a while, the phone will randomly load settings I have saved on boot from Trickster MOD and Franco's Display Control app. It is at that point that my power button is functioning again.
I'm not sure if it's these settings causing any problems, but it's weird and annoying cause I can't really do anything until the settings apply. It seems like maybe it's stalling on getting SU permissions, because once that toast message appears everything suddenly works.
Anyone ever have this issue? Running Paranoid latest, and Franco 38.
I'll keep messing with stuff to see if I can solve it myself, but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
I'm also experiencing a delayed response from trickstermod and franco's display app after reboot (I got used to it); but my power button is functioning well.

I actually have noticed the power button not working sometimes, usually with an xposed module that I reset. I always deleted the module and thought it was a bug. Ended up turning me away from xposed. Maybe I should look back into it again lol.

I think this delay is different for every rom/kernel. I noticed a serious delay on AICP (with a custom theme) to load widgets and to have all toast notifications at boot and this delay is significantly on SlimKat (power button is immediately functional after entering my PIN code). I've kept the same Xposed modules.
Hi all,
When I'm using my month old Nexus 5 it will just randomly kick me back to the lock screen, sometimes I can just unlock it and keep on trucking but sometimes it will just immediately lock again or it will work for a couple of seconds and then re-lock. Once its in this state even a reboot doesn't always help and about the only thing I can do is get into recovery mode and re-flash it again. I used the Sensor Box app and have noticed that the light sensor is always reading zero, and I'm not sure if this is part of the issue?
This was happening on the PA Alpha, Stock 5.0.1 and since I was still having the issue I flashed back to 4.4.
The weird thing is that my phone had been fine for the 3 weeks or so I had it before hand. I flashed lollipop on it less than an hour after I took it out of the box and it had been running smoothly up until yesterday.
So a few questions:
Is there anything I can try to fix ir?
Can I use debugging to see what is causing the screen to lock?
Is this likely to be a hardware issue?
If it is, is there anything I will need to do to make sure I keep my warranty?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Bump with some other information:
I don't think its the light sensor, I tried using the phone in a pitch black room last night and the same thing was constantly happening, there was something else odd happening though.
From the restore of 4.4 I was on the "Select language" screen, whilst I could swipe and roll the various language options up and down the moment I presses "Next" the phone locked, if I left the phone on this screen eventually the screen would automatically lock and then it would keep locking itself constantly again.
Also, just for total clarification by "lock" I meaning "return to lock screen" not freeze up and become unresponsive.
Hi guys,
My girlfriend has a galaxy s6 running marshmallow. The soft keys are constantly flashing/blinking whenever the screen is turned on. This also causes the device to lag, draining the battery.
I've tried factory resetting the device, and running it in safe mode suggesting it's not software related.
I also installed the the app "Galaxy button lights" that allows the control of the lights, this does stop them flashing, but the device still seems to be running slowly.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Hi did you find a solution to this as I am having the same problem. Power mode on stops the constant flashing but the phone still lags and it flashes when I charge my phone. My power button also phantom presses :/
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?
Me too. Turning off the buttons seems to help... it drives me less crazy... but it still feels like there is screen lag. I think this started after I installed the last system update.
One of my co-workers suggested that it may be caused by moisture inside the phone. I set it in the sun for a while, and the problem seems to have gone away.

This happened to me like 4 months ago, it hasn't "dried" till now However if i press hard on the lower left bezel - next to the app switcher button my phone works. I have a theory that the contact has become loose under the phone or so?
Hi, I have the same problem for a long time I installed a couple of firmware and the same thing on the factory software always happens, now I use custom rom and it works without problems, it means only on the factory versions I have a problem
Hey guys,
strange and frustrating problem. I was using my phone pretty extensively today (although nothing crazy), mostly thanks to Pokemon Go. Tonight after using my phone normally, I went to press the power button to turn the screen off and nothing happened. I was able to reboot (by changing one of the long-press actions to bring up the power menu via GravityBox) and then was unable to power on the phone. It seems like my hardware power button has suddenly become unresponsive. This leaves me unable to power on/off the phone, including booting into the bootloader. Also, I seem to be unable to wake my phone up by double tapping the screen or swiping up.
The phone otherwise functions fine. If I get a notification, the screen wakes up and I can use the phone. Otherwise, the only way I've been able to get into the phone is by connecting it to a computer and issuing ADB commands. The IR blaster functions fine which makes me think it's not the hardware button?
Has this happened to anyone else before? Can the power button just break like that without any water / physical damage? The fact that I also can't wake the screen makes me think it's a software issue. One other thing I suspect is that my phone abruptly died yesterday (battery died despite software thinking it still had juice left). In the past, with the modified kernel / rom, this has resulted in some nasty issues, including 4G not working and the Android system process basically exploding. I thought I lucked out when I powered it on after that, but maybe it just took a day for this issue to manifest itself.
I'm going to make a NANDROID backup and try flashing a few different things to see if I can fix it. I'll post my progress here.
Current build:
- Verizon M8, S-OFF
- TWRP
- Android GPE 6.0 (MRA58K.H13)
Edit: I haven't been able to find a fix. I'm a bit afraid to try a full RUU since I can't use the hardware keys to reboot into the bootloader should something go wrong. It may just be that my PWR hardware button is f'd which really sucks. I'm not sure I'm up to cracking open the phone to fix it. In the meantime I downloaded an app called Gravity Screen On/Off which uses the phone's proximity sensor to wake the screen up and it seems to work ok for now.
