[Q] Phone froze using alarm - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I am running the galaxy mod rls 15 and was working fine until my alarm went off this morning and froze the phone. It would not turn off, so I pulled the battery and rebooted and the screen was half black and roatated, still would not do anything. had to pull battery again and reboot same issue. Anybody else have this, I searched but didnt come up with anything. Thanks for any help.

Just a thought cuz I'm using Beans JB TW rom. Are you using S-Voice? Have you noticed that same issue with your camera and also when accepting/declining calls? If so, turn off the voice command in S-Voice, see if this helps.

Has this happened to anyone?

Ok, not sure if this has happened to anyone, but this happened to me last night.
I woke up this morning my phone was off. So I hit the power button and reboot. When it comes up, it shows unclean shutdown settings not loaded in the notification bar.
So I reboot it again, this time it comes up with a ID mismatch, do I want to wipe data? I hit I'm feeling lucky and then everything force closes.
Rebooted again, same issue.
I ended up restoring from a backup and all is ok now.
I was running Bamf 1.7 at 1.4ghz. So I'm thinking I had some issue with power that may have caused an issue.
Anyone have this happen to you? This is the first time ever on any of my phones that I've had this happen.
Happened to me resorting backup fixed the issue. I as well have no idea why it happened but a simple Google search should reveal the answer.

Are you using the BAMF toolbox to over clock? That is where the notification is coming from. Either click the notification and redo the overclock settings, or uncheck enable at boot. I was getting that notification and started using setcpu and no more notification

Thanks for the info. Ya, I was able to restore my data, but I got all scared with all the talk of bricking phones.
I'm also starting to wonder if the over/under volting may be causing some issues. Again, I've never had this happen on any other phone i've rooted, so it was kinda scary when it happened.

Freeze in reboot/ poweroff

Is anybody else having an issue where the phone freezes when trying to reboot or power off? I have wiped all caches and even restored may nandroid backup that was all stock and was getting the same issue. I did not see anything in any of the other ics post. I am not getting any force closes and I have tried repairing permissions. It just does the same thing.

Everything's working great for me, with the lone exception that when I go to shut down it gets stuck and I need to pull the battery if I intend to power off completely, or hold down the power button for ten seconds or so to reboot the phone.
I think almost everyone is having this issue.
Thanks guys it was working fine. I guess its a small price to pay to have ics.

When I first flashed ICS, without doing a factory reset afterward, I was able to shut down properly. Then I read in the forum that to fix the locking issue, I needed to do a factory reset. So I did. And after that, nothing worked quite right, and I get stuck during shut down.
So, I reflashed ICS, did factory reset 3 times immediately afterward. Now everything is working fine, including shut down.
YMMV
I am rooted 4.0.3 stock.
No problems with the power menu.
Strange. I'm just lucky, huh?

I am in the same boat. The superuser zip also flashed no errors first time.
I didn't have the issue at first but it started randomly. Kinda annoying but I guess I'll deal because everything else works fine.

Mine worked fine also. I don't know what happened. Maybe it will start working fine again in its own again

Same problem for a lot of people.
In the meantime you can use this app to reboot and shutdown. Works like a charm.

Also holding down the power button about 10 seconds or so will also reboot your phone.

Notification LED

Does anyone actually use it? I've had nothing but problems with it. The CM notification manager works for maybe 1-2 notifications and it stops working. Lightflow tends to be the same way unless I restart the app. I loved my notification LED on my nexus. Anyone have any solutions?

I'm running synergy and use it all the time, mainly for text messages, that way i can just look my phone and know if i have a text or not
I find it to be helpful, and use it. Running stock still, works flawlessly.
Works fine, other then GO SMS doesn't blink. Lightflow sucks, ate my battery up when it shouldn't be doing it. I would not have gotten this phone if their wasn't a LED, never would know I was called/texted.

Everything works for me, even Go Sms, when using Light Flow. The dev officially got the ins and outs working awhile back and I can modify my colors and see notifications for all my important apps. I've been using that app (full version) for a few weeks and I haven't had any battery issues with Light Flow.

Nwver heard of lightflow before, definitely gonna look into it.
Me too, will check that out now.

lightflow caused battery issues for me
for about 2 weeks, my phone would not go to sleep as it would always be in partial wakelock.
i used betterbatterystats to get an idea of what was going on, and it pointed out that "alarm manager" was causing the partial wakelock. when i checked out the alarms, lightflow had significantly more alarms running to cause the partial wakelock.
i uninstalled lightflow, and immediately my battery life improved. the difference was huge.
but that was my experience. some people don't have issues with light flow, so give it a try and see how/if it affects you
I had entirely forgotten about lightflow. Used it on my Droid X. But never on my Bionic. Totally forgot I even paid for this app. Thanks for the reminder. Works great. GoSMS by default would mess up the LED color everytime. This makes em proper. Good call. Thanks to you

Light flow was working great for me for a few days last week when I first got it, but since yesterday, it's been keeping my phone awake the entire time and was killing my battery so I uninstalled it. My phone is sleeping normal again. I've just reinstalled it again to see if it'll work normal like before.

Anyone one of you on AOSP? For those on a touchwiz ROM, what settings are you using for light flow to make it work so flawlessly?

Yea, I've heard those issues as well. I was worried about that going into purchasing the app. I'm not sure if it helps but I have Light Flow set for night hours from 12a-7a so might that impact it in keeping my phone asleep? Just a a question I have for those who have tried and noticed battery drain overnight.

light flow looks to work work every time i install it and set it up. but a few hours later there is always lots of problems.
hopefully some day all the kinks are worked out of it...then i'll buy it. but for now it causes too many issues.

[Q] Rotate Lag

Has anyone noticed some super slow screen rotations? Also, on the home screen, are you able to auto rotate? My MoPho Q is acting funny after flashing some stock system images and updating(Mine freezes and reboot loops sometimes). If anyone has any issues with their screen having rotate lag please post here, thanks!
I havent experienced any of those issues... I have rooted deodexed and otherwise stock phone. Maybe try to reflash?

Thanks for replying. I have been reflashing stuff all day, nothing seems stable. Had phone up for 10 hours then started reboot looping. I formatted my sd card and did factory reset, tried 3 or 4 different ways of recovering everything so idk what else to do. I am just now re-rooting and trying deodexed, making backups every step of the way(beyond frustrated).

Wow that's no fun... how bad is the auto rotate lag? It takes mine about .2 seconds, not long but there is a slight delay. And the only way I can rotate the home screen is if I slide the keyboard out. I was looking into making my own ROM but didn't figure it out. I'm hoping for one soon, maybe that would fix for your problem too.

Just recently I've been having problems with my screen not rotating back after sliding out the keyboard. Sometimes it doesn't rotate at all. I'm just rooted with the latest update also. Don't know why this is happening.
I've had that a couple times, usually it goes away on its own. I tried turning rotation on/off, forcing it back to portrait mode using apps that only run in portrait, cycling lock screen on and off, finally it just started fixing it self after a reboot or time.

Haha, did exact same things. And you're right. Hasn't happened in awhile.
Just wanted to confirm that I have problems with this too. Sometimes I get tired of waiting to the point that I open the keyboard to force landscape mode.

[Q] Softkeys on Infuse won't work.

Hey fellas, so I've been using JellyBean 4.2.1 Unofficial CM10.1 rom now, for about a month- Went from a stock- unrooted to the JB Unofficial CM 10.1, and everything has worked like a charm.... but then last night I was using my Infuse when all of a sudden the bottom row of keys wouldn't respond. At first I had thought that the phone had frozen because I hit the Home key and it wouldn't budge. Then I realized the screen still responded, so it didnt freeze. So what I did was go ahead and reboot it, but still the keys wouldn't work, If I pressed them though, they would flicker, so they still seem to have a response, but they neither vibrate nor do the function they're supposed to do. So then I plugged the phone up to charge it for a about 2 hrs, when I realized they were working again. In the morning, just to make sure the problem wouldn't happen again I went into Recovery and wiped Cache and Delvic Cache... as the morning progressed the phone once again lost its bottom row keys function, so I removed the battery for a couple of minutes then booted the phone up. The keys were once again up and running as usual. But after more phone interactions came through, I lost again the use of the botton keys. So I did the battery trick about 2 more times to get the keys to work, then in the afternoon, removing the battery no longer had any effect on the hardware keys. So since I had the 12-19 rom update, I went ahead and Installed this year's new rom, the 1-14-13 Rom, doing the data, cache, system and delvic wipes, and hopefully rebooted to find the the keys still remain ineffective... I have now searched quite a bit to find nothing to help me, guys, and I'm honestly uneasy right about now, because I'm afraid my beautiful phone is now messed up forever. Can anyone PLEASE help me by any means, to resolve the issue? Thanks!
I have flashed it back to complete stock, and nothing happens!! the softkeys just turn on when I swipe my finger and flicker once when I press on an specific button. So going back to JB CM 10.1 and getting onscreen menu buttons meanwhile :S
The only thing I can thank of is that you or the ROM may have disabled your hardware keys. Have you tried disabling them and then re-enabling them?

Actually tried like 4 different roms, so that actually couldnt be the problem, it seems I have now 3 days of having my softkeys back... and didnt do a thing to get them, im guessing my phone was messed up...
In any case i found a great app called button savior which are onscreen buttons which is pretty good, but yea mustve been a phone issue, but apparently its fixed for the tome being, hope it never happens again... but thanks for your answer!
Well I'm glad I could help and I hope your keys stay working

That actually happened to me long time ago. But whenever it happens, I just turn the screen off and on. It fixed for me.
