[DEV][I9001] USB OTG porting - Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Development

Hi all ( devs )
Our device now have great devs and lots of roms and kernel and tools ( such as diablo's help alot in building kernel ) I think now is the time to Porting USB OTG !
I think we have a dead usb otg topic . I try to start new one :
** First of all for UTG we need an kernel supported which I tryed to find from a similar device with msm 7X30 chipset , ARC(s) is a good choise !
Here are to kernel with otg support and second one is GPU overclocking ( !!!! ) support !
** Fusion kernel source + OTG
https://github.com/mechmetal/semc-kernel-msm7x30
------------------------------------------------
** arc(s) kernel with USB OTG + GPU overclock !!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867265
----------------------------------
** I think we need moudules too , in second kernel there are modules !
** And another thing we need is USB power , which we can solve it by using an usb adaptor to be like this :
usb mem >> usb adaptor/host >> I9001
usb adaptor supplys power !
So I think USB OTG porting is difficult but it is possible for our device like I9000 & Desire S & ... But we need devs to do this becuase I AM NOT AN KERNEL DEV !!!
Hope to see kernel devs answer ....

Well, we have a usb port, but we dont have the right Controller IC on the mainboard. I think its impossible.

tnx Alireza and i hope to make it as soon as possible.

a couple of months ago i talked with castagna about gpu and this is what he said
...pertanto la nostra gpu non è overcloccabile, quindi non si possono cambiare le frequenze, se overcloccata causa solo un peggioramento delle prestazioni
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
... infact our gpu is not overclockable, so its impossible to change the frequency, if you overclock it you just make the performance bad
Click to expand...

on the other hand I think educk made a tweak under init.d that overclocked the GPU.. so I'm confused.. any news on this?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app

Every thing is possible if we want.
If devs keep one working we can make it(I'm not a karnel dev hut I like to have a device with OTG sopport)

Why not ?
It wont need controller IC !.Just need an kernel supported and a power supply ! When we have both , why we dont try to port it ?
Just take a look at I9001 or desire s !

Our GPU will not be overclockable if it's frequence was locked in bios ( i think ! ) but It seems not ! Take a look at link in post 1# ; It seems possible ! They have done it !

It was just an init.d tweak, I repeat, a tweak and nothing more, and I didn't created it, it was taken from TheBlackWolf's collection of tweaks I gave credits for it in the OP, I think Alireza made it, I'm not sure btw.
This tweak has nothing to do with USB OTG or anything else mentioned in this thread, I will come back here later to explain what it does, I dont have much time now.

Ok, I found some time, and a PC .
About GPU overclocking, our GPU is called Adreno 205 and the CPU is called Scorpion S2. The whole system is called Snapdragon Processor which holds the CPU and GPU together in one single chip. This type of system is called SoC (System on a Chip), if anyone is interested in this, more details about this type of architecture can be found here: link.
Overclocking the CPU or the GPU is not possible using and init.d tweak, these features are independent of init.d they are kernel features, the kernel must support OC in order to overclock, same applies to UnderVolt (UV).
Ok, overclocking the GPU is not directly possible on our system, it is possible on systems which have independent GPU's such as NVIDIA Tegra. We have SoC so, the whole system is based on that chip, if the CPU is overclocked, that's the only thing we can do. The GPU frequency is hard coded into this system, and it cannot be overclocked. I think this is what castagnaIT meant, the GPU clocks can be changed but only to their allowed values. But this doesn't mean performance optimization.
If the CPU is overclocked, the system is already overclocked so it means performance optimization, this is the only thing we can do in order to maximize the overall performance.
And about that init.d tweak, it is only a thuderbolt script. And after searching up a bit, it does nothing for our phone, so I'm going to test it to see if it actually improves gaming performance or not.
I don't know how this subject got in this thread, but because I was mentioned here, I just taught I can clear this up.
In order to not spam, I will tell my opinion about USB OTG:
I think we don't have the necessary hardware to do this, but who knows, maybe it can be mounted in some way...
Regards,
Erik

Well, first of all, Ivendor wasn't the one that fixed USB. Anyway, usbdisk is needed and isn't used for OTG in this case. We added it as a way to mount the storage properly.
Code:
<storage android:mountPoint="/storage/usbdisk"
android:storageDescription="@string/storage_usb"
android:primary="false"
android:removable="true" />
As you can see here, it is used as the USB storage. Also :
Code:
# usb disk
dev_mount usbdisk /storage/usbdisk auto /devices/platform/msm_hsusb_host.0

Thanks to Ivendor this project finally works ! I think thread must be closed

Now we have official GB with its source code but compiling a kernal with perfect work & with addition of new features (over clocking, USB OTG, TV OUT) is really a toughest part of work. Skin & Amit both have really good knowledge about kernal. We can expect something very interesting in future. But we definitely have to keep some pations guys.

Gotta love ya man. you're still mentioning USB OTG to date. Persistence is one of your traits i tell you.
Anyway, since the source code is in, i think amit should also have a clean start on his CM7 porting project. So what you say amit?
If we Compile This file,we Will get the Working Kernel (Current Kernel) Right??
So we have to edit these files to create a new Kernel ??
any Idea Where To Start ???
I have An Idea to Port the files Which Specifies the "App & Framework" folders of Galaxy S to Galaxy SL so that we can use all the modes which depend on the "apps & framework" files like 9 lockscreen just by copying the framework (files of Galaxy S) files to our framework (files of Galaxy SL) folder.
By doing this we dont have to port modes for S to SL like 5 lockscreen,Overscroll Glow ,CRT etc
LOL The OTG, Actually I saw the preview of OTG on Youtube with the S2 snugged with a 1TB HDD, Gotta say, That **** was amazing, But not to the point where halfway through the video, I kept picturing Vishal :\

and if it was as i said just 1100, set the charging maximum to 1200 instead of 1700, otherwise a lot of phones will be dead when left on charging all night long

Thank u dude for trying my kernel. Actually the only thing that may coz a little above normal power consumption is that the CPU is clocked on 2 Ghz as the maximum scaling frequency. If you set the max freq of the cpu back to 1600 Mhz using any tool like SetCPU you will have less then normal drain and power consumption bcoz of the extensive undervolting applied to the CPU, GPU and Midas chips. Also the fact that its zRam enabled make it conserve power bcoz RAM usage will give less power consumption than the MMC in this case.

Tassive cpu is from qualcomm
With full source
So overclocking and optimisation are available
Totoro cpu broadcomm
Incomplete sources- no actual overclocking and no optimisation
Galaxy y is very old i had it and its not good contender for KK

Wrong... wrong.
Those stats are for tass, not tassve. Tassve has exactly the same hardware as a Galaxy Y, and runs with the same BCM21553 CPU and VideoCore IV as totoro.
Remember,
Tass= GT-S5570
TassVe= GT-S5570I
totoro, tassve, cooperve and the Galaxy Pocket use the BCM21553 chipset.
It is true, however, that tass has full sources, and that is why they do have a somewhat stable KK.
Broadcom, like what madboy said, only released their sources because it was Raspberry Pi's second anniversary, not because of the petition. If it were, they would have released the sources shortly after the petition reached 10,000 signatures, but instead there was a lapse and they did not release it. Only on Feb 28, Raspberry Pi's 2nd anniversary did they release the sources. Even the main XDA site (not the forum) states that it was the anniversary that prompted Broadcom to release their sources.
Get your facts right.

I thought Broadcomm doesn't have the libs for camera or audio they are with samsung. So we are never gonna get it.
Correct me if i am wrong.

The question that is in my mind now. Those libs are written on Java or C++ or what?

[KERNEL][Z1C] UNOFFICIAL RockZ1L Kernel [Stock Lollipop .236]

About RockZ1L : http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/development/5-0-rockz1l-kernel-t3101784
This is a personal build of rockz1l with some modifications :
* Bump kernel version to 3.4.110 (include most patches from upstream)
* Add UKSM(Ultra Kernel Same-page Merging), better than the original KSM approach.
* Add f2fs support. You can follow this tutorial to convert your partitions to f2fs : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...rial-migrate-filesystem-to-f2fs-ext4-t3004755
* Add sdcardfs support
* Enable TCP Hybla
* Modified and built with Hyper Linaro ARM-EABI 5.1
* Add cifs and nfs modules
* Replace tuxera exfat with exfat-nofuse (the module fakes itself as a texfat module)
* Add Paragon UFSD
* Disable vermagic check for kernel modules
The kernel is for stock lollipop rom. Only tested on 14.6.A.1.236

I think Taiko Audio Codec Control and qpnp-vibrator are already in RockZ1L kernel.

@maz-1,
i want to ask you if you have an idea why i can t overclock my device
i can t apply 2.4 GHZ frequency.
does it have to do with SE linux ?
Sorry, no idea when i tried this kernel i had no problem to apply 2.41 GHz with kernel auditor. But i prefer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3096060

Are other signs of the kernel showing up, (additional governors, etc.)? Maybe it's just not flashing right.

Never heard of it... I know that the original Rockz1 kernel comes with an app called 'pimp my Z1c' or something like that. Maybe you could pull the app out of the zip and install it, see if it shows anything different.

run "getprop ro.product.device" in recovery. Does it give you "amami" or "D5503" ?
