capturing download links and openeing them in player for streaming. For eg. i have an app called tvportal. When i click on the episode link it gives me options to open it in downloader or mxplayer.Suppose i choose mxPlayer or any other player it starts to stream.
I need to reduce this streaming quality so that it can be playable on 2g speed too that is around 20-30 kbps

I see. If the app don't give you that choise, i don't know if there's an app that do that. Because the app (For ex: tvportal) need to convert that video in many sizes. Like youtube (240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p). And a thirdparty app can't do this, because to do this firsts need to download the original video, and that is your problem in the first time.

With Rockplayer from the Android Market you woun't ever have to convert a video again. It plays all formats including mkv out of the box!
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I use SUPER ©
Yes use Rockplayer
After second "Rockplayer" - it really does away with having to spend hours converting "most" movies
somebody really still converting?
Yes, I still do it, because movies take less space on my SD card once they are in MP4 (with the right format) instead of original format.
I cannot change movies every nigth, I have to store 6 or 7 for the week... (and music, and pictures, and...)
thank you
thank you guys
i will try it all..
and yaa instead of direct copy i prefer to convert it becoz it take less memory on my SD card thats why
but you can save much time with bigger sd-card an the rockplayer...

So which media player is good to play HD video in MP4 format? Rockplayer or Super?
Guys,
I have tried handbrake to encode and Rockplayer, realplayer beta to playback the below video clip :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJPbozRomX4
With no success and the video become stuck when it reached : 2:44
Let me know if anyone can overcome this problem, thanks.

SUPER is NOT a media player, its a video converter to use in your PC.
on my X10i (unbranded) the SE Mediascape video player plays better than Rock player, the sound is in sync more than Rock player for example.
I have also used "IM TOO" but found it very slow. (1.5 hours to encode a 30 minute episode of Alan Partridge.
I now use WinX DVD Ripper winxdvd d0t c0m (no I dont work for them).
If this is spyware or whatever please let me know, but in encodes a DVD film in 45 mins (even a Disney one with all that special encoding)
My question is....
"what is the ultimate setting for encoding a DVD to MP4 for the X10i?
Please do not reply if you are just guessing, the X10i does not like frame rate 30 for example..
thanks
x2 on using Super as the video convertor. It's free and it offers more features than most other video convertors.
but with RockPlayer (and yxplayer for some files) I no longer need to convert. my 16gb only stores documents, some pictures, and videos but no mp3 since i'd rather listen to streaming internet radio than download mp3s.
the "best" video setting will depend on how you rate video quality. imo, for smoothness and when you are watching movies, i'd go with 23 fps or less, and have high bitrate but reduced resolution (above half the resolution of the lcd display).
video conversion speeds depends mainly on your video converting settings (format, bitrate, resolution, etc.) and your CPU power, not the software.. just fyi.
I am currently using xmedia recode.
I use the settings for the Motorola Milestone when converting, as for some reason the X10 settings mess the audio up.
Pretty quick, and audio/visual sync is spot on
It doesn't matter what to use.
for example, I convert films from my 720p/1080p hd collection, using parameters, such as 854x480 resolution, 160 kbit audio bitrate and 1000-1200 kbit video bitrate.
And it looks like I watch a real hd video! The picture is perfect! Enjoy
Oh, and I noticed, that it's better to use h264 codecs with *.mkv container than mpeg4 with .mp4 and .avi
RockPlayer is the best for my monster-like videos Avatar with 1200 video bitrate and near 2gb file size works without any lags. This is the power of nice program code (thx for RockPlayer devs) with the connection of Snapdragon processor

try this
http://www.freemake.com/free_video_downloader/
Its free and it coverts best ... n use h.264 mpeg profile at 1280*720 or 1920*1080
Most of the video codecs are already supported by note or third party applications should be able to play almost all formats..if you are having issues transferring huge files enable usb debugging in the setting(for files below 4Gb). If you are looking for a good converter try handbrake its very good and free but if you are not familiar with encoding it may be slightly intemedating, look for tutorials online.

Convert? "Convert"? Man, if you have to convert anything to play on the Note, you're doing it wrongz.
Install the app MX Video Player, it play most formats I throw at it.

buddy go to application in setting's and click development mode and it normally transfer files ....
then download from market mx video player (the best) and it will play almost everything.
Dice player and RockPlayer are the best
this is the Samsung Galaxy Note - the stock player will play anything you throw at it. why encode in mpeg-4 when you can play .mkv? I don't see a point to downloading an external video player, period.
i have a lot of them and if you ned i can assist you with them.

No way, MX video player is the best IMO.
The Gnote can play many HD content, but when it comes to lets say a 1080p profile [email protected] with 16 reframes, it can't handle it, but MX video player is the one that gives me the most acceptable frame rate play under such a heavy HD video.

From what I have tried dice player runs 1080p .mp4 files pretty fine.
But it seems you are trying to play very high bit rate 1080p .mkv/.mp4 files which I guess gets a bit too much for R / most other smart phones to play.
If the above is true then you'll have to convert those videos to a lower bit rate format.
Hope it helps.
But those videos were running on my friends sgs2 properly without Any third party apps
And I have read that sgr supports
Full he playback and now the native player is not able to do so.

becoz our tegra supports 1080 p video playing capabilities.... (as we can play in optimus 2x but only 24 fps)
butt somehow samsung has blocked some of the capabilities of sgr
1080p playback?
So in short we can't play 1080p videos on our SG-R?

We can play them buddy . . . !
I have played some good quality 1080p MP4 videos on my device. Its just that it shouldn't be a very high bitrate. I have yet to try any mkv files though, will try & update here.
Tegra 2 naively supports recording of 1080p videos which had been disabled by Samsung due to some reasons currently not clear.
But they can't block a device which naively supports recording 1080p videos from playing Full HD videos as it depends on which video player you use.
The generic Samsung player doesn't play 1080p videos but Dice player does and its currently free.
Hope this helped.

hd video capabilities vs tegra 3

Hi guys,
can adreno 225 play high profile 1080p h264 videos @ 40 mbs like tegra 3 does?
Here http://www.dvdloc8.com/clip.php?movieid=13599&clipid=4 you can download a sample and try it.
Furthermore , can you play a 1080p youtube flash video ( in browser, not using youtube app), does it stutter???
Let me know...
Thanks
Downloading it for you mate

ok,
indeed tegra 3 gpu seems better, it is fully capable to play this kind of video.
And what about 1080p youtube flash videos ( in browser, not using youtube app)?
thanks a lot
I dont use the browser for youtube videos, Whats the point ?
I think HD videos looks awesome on this phone, I was watching the SGS3 preview via youtube app with brightness on max.

The point is yotube app doesn't use flash player...in app you are watching mp4 videos ( or other low bitrate codec).
In browser , istead ( with desktop user agent) you'll see flash video videos. I really would know if s4 can play 1080p flash videos....
so the quality would be better in the browser ?? i have default set to use youtube so never tried other methods.
im intrigued now lol.

the quality depends on specific video, but in browser you have a real HD ( 720p or 1080p) and a higher bitrate than youtube app that is designed to work with all phones, even with ones that don't have flash player.
In generally, in browser using flash player you can test the true capabilities of the cpu\gpu,
this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i2RCBa3l-g at 1080p is a good test.
There are scenes at high bitrate ( for a flash video ).
Try it please. tegra 3 is good to play this...

Playing youtube on the browser desktop page is definitely much higher quality than in app. Even the lowset 360p option looks better than HQ in the youtube app. Can you test 720p and 1080p in the browser itself.
ok, Using chrome browser and maxthon browser. the picture quality is awesome, both 720p and 1080p.
using stock browser was a little choppy. as if it was buffering, Which it wasnt

Stick it is a great one but it puts the videos in front but they can be resized and moved where you like.
Edit:in the settings it has an option to play in the background aswell.(i believe just added feature today)

Maybe Popcorn Player is something that meets your needs. It plays mp4 very well in a window that can be resized, so you can watch, listen and surf at the same time.
Mxplayer and download mxplayerncodec armv7

+1 for bsplayer, it's awesome.
With the pop out function you not only can browse the web and keep watching, but I've even ran a gba emulator while watching a video simultaneously.
It's awesome.
Plus the lan function works really well. Also bookmarking.
The app "Super Video" also has the video box that can be sized and run on top of any application. Works good for .mp4s but I'm not sure about .avi's
