ERI Version None, says I am roaming - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok I exhausted all options I could find in the forums to fix this issue. I lost My IMEI and ERI. I was able to get the IMEI back using the Samsung repair tool. The phone works fine (text, phone data) its just telling me I am roaming. I have tried all tools, RevSkills (tells me the EFS subsys is locked) Tried the samsung repair tool and click repair ERI (tool freezes and becomes unresponsive) . Tried QPST (that worked but ERI version still none and I have the little triangle on my 4g. I tried the reprovision, but the menu must be disabled or something because nothing happens when I put that in the dialer. Any guidance would be appreciated. I am running 4.1.1 stock rooted. Thanks

If on TW, I believe you have to be on ICS. After which, you're going to need to reprovision.

This has been happening on and off for me, I would like an answer as well.

I just posted this last week that it happened to me to with a friends phone. I later found out it was that and I fixed the IMEI but the ERI says none.
Haven't found a solution yet.

Did you odin to the F2 or G1 ICS build and enter the reprovision code in the dialer?

FIXED!!!!
Ok everybody. I think I got this fixed finally. Heres what I did
Figure it out yourself.....J\K
I am not sure if you will have to, but I Odined back to ICS because you also need to downgrade your Modem (will explain below). Not sure if those modems work with JB.
First I used the Repair IMEI tool found here to get my IMEI fixed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442&highlight=subsys
(this is where I was stuck) Like I said before you need to downgrade your modem. For some reason the the new modems lock the EFS Subsys. You will get that error in Revskills if you dont downgrade. I Odined VRLF2 found here - http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-modems-vrlk3-verizon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
Next I used the Revskills program found on the same page (copy the ERI file and unzip it also you will need that) to fix my ERI. Watch the youtube video linked on that page and it will show you how to do it. It was really easy. Reboot and you should have ERI Version 5 with no roaming!!!
Let me know if you have any questions, I am not very good at tutorials as I am usually the one reading them

IMEI Messed up, help please!

I was told to post here so:
Hi,
Yesterday I flashed a custom ROM , the rom somehow messed up my IMEI number.
Then i went back to the forum and found out that everyone who flashed the rom got his IMEI messed up and we all got the same IMEI now, i still have calls working but im afraid they will stop working soon, i know what was my original IMEI, can anyone help us please. (Heres the rom i flashed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034130)
I saw that the devs on samsung captivate managed to restore their imeis, there should be a way to do that to the nexus s.
Same Problem with my phone...
same here
I'm restore my backup .. and nothing change
and imei still changed :S
Same here, i think the phone is as good as network dead.
Hi all, I also was unfortunate to flash this rom resulting in the changed imei issue. My Phone was displaying emergency calls only and i was unable to connect to data services. I used Odin to flash back to stock GRH 78 ticking the phone efs clear box . After rebooting i checked my imei number but it still displays the wrong number. However my phone now connects to the network and i can make and recieve calls and data is enabled. Not a full fix and i am not sure for how long it will work but definately an improvement on the very expensive paperweight i had. Hopefully a full fix will come soon.
Trying that~!
UPDATE :
Nope Odin again didn't help.
Isn't it kinda stupid to discuss this in not only one or two but four threads? I get it, you guys want a fix and I feel with you, but having four threads will only cause confusion.
How about you all agree on one and work together to fix it instead of dividing your efforts?

Can you explain what version of Odin you used - Odin3 v1.8 ??
What rom did you flash stock GRH78 ??
Did you use a .pit file and if yes which one ??
What boxes were ticked and de-ticked in Odin ??
Cheers mate
Hi,
I used odin 3v1.8 and the stock GRH 78 rom. I opened odin and loaded the
bootloader, Pda and scs files and ticked the phone efs clear box ,this was the only box i manually ticked all other boxes were left in their default state. i did not have a pit. file. Previous to using odin I had just unlocked my bootloader as it was locked. Odin won't work with bootloader locked all atempts to access download mode were met with a unlock bootloader screen.
After flashing I checked my emei no. but was disappointed to find no change. I then checked for system updates and clicked on the update which started to download. It then suddenly dawned on me that i had not linked my phone to my router and that data was enabled. I cancelled the Gingerbread update and went into notifications and saw my network instead of the previous Emergency Calls Only. A quick phone call verified that my phone was now connecting to the network. I then connected to wifi and installed the update.
I am still stuck with the wrong emei but can now connect to the network and
have restored my favourite rom from a nandroid. The only issue i now have is the
wrong emei but for now my phone functions perfectly

Y'all could try to look in the forums of the various Samsung Galaxy S variants, AFAIK there are ways to restore your IMEI on this kind of Samsung phone, maybe they apply to the Nexus S as well.

[Q] No service/ roaming after root and AOKP install

I really apologize if this has been posted/ answered before (which I hope it has). The search feature is currently down on the site it appears and I have not been able to find a solution:
Some background:
I followed the instructions herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Installed AOKP and google apps and noticed that I had no reception whatsoever.
I did a nandroid restore and had occasional 4g but still no verizon service at all. I did some digging around and all indications seemed to point to my lost imei. I then followed the instructions to repair my imei via QPST.
I now have my imei back, but still practically no mobile network or 4G with occasional roaming. I tried to factory reset via the " *#22745927, then
and ##786#, but have had no luck.
Can anyone help me out?
I'm pretty bummed.
Thanks in advance.

I have also tried that to no avail.
What do you mean by to no avail? The number did not work, or it did a factory reset and you still have data problems?

Sorry for any ambiguity. I did the factory restore and still have no service or data. Maybe 1 bar of roaming that does not allow me to connect.

Hmm. Not sure what to tell you. You didn't dial *228, did you? Hope not. If you did, you could have messed up your SIM, and a new one would be the fix for that.
Not really remembering anyone else who fixed their IMEI and couldn't even get a solid connection after a provision.

So I went to verizon and they gave me a new sim card which restored my data, but I am stuck on roaming now (which looks like it probably just cosmetic). I see that other people have this issue as well and the fix doesn't appear to be in yet.
My question is: If I want to go back and root and install a custom rom, which step do we think is the culprit for losing my imei? Is there a way I can prevent that from happening?
Also, do you think it probably make more sense for people to remove the sim cards through the root/ flashing process?
P.S. my ERI verision reads "none" does this contribute to the roaming in any way?

Update: Went to verizon, after odin'ing to stock. They gave me a new sim card. I configured the phone to allow roaming, etc. I have fine cellular reception (although it still always thinks I am roaming) but my data is really spotty. The data doesn't work at all where I work. I have managed to restore my imei but my ERI restoration does not appear to have worked. I tried it with revskills and went all the way through the steps but it still reads "none" under the version, even after I changed the sixes to sevens, so to speak. I then tried to use the Samsung MEID repair tool by Xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442&highlight=connect but every time I tried to "connect" the program would not respond and need to be force closed. I tried it on XP and windows 7 with the same results. It seems like there were other people with the same problem but I wasn't sure what the end result was.
Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated.
Anyone?
Same thing here. Benn running Codename Android 3.6.6 for a few days and today after I came out of airplane mode, I can not get any data service and when I try to make a call I am told my account inst authorized to call the number. Tried a nandroid backup and I tried wiping data/factory reset and reinstalling Synergy and Codename both, and still not getting anywhere.
*2767*3855# isn't doing anything in the dialer either, just sits there.

restored the samsung official VZW rom and binary.
I removed the superuser and the unlock tools...
I still have no ERI and no service..
when i remove the sim card it tells me to insert it... obviously
when i put it back in an reboot it says "searching for service" and "everything i screenshotted... the imei is what i inputed with the tool in the imei tool thread you guys gave me...
however my wifi does work and my rom boots just fine... and when i factory reset my number shows up in the MDN field...
it honestly seems like the way the phone would communicate with the towers is screwed.

Alright, this just comes off as being a jerk. It sounds like he did (try to) backup his IMEI. Also, I don't see him blaming anyone for his "mishap". He was also very polite in asking for help. So was there a need in being a jerk(not just directed at you, as you were one of 3 or so to act as if he was wrong here)? I mean isn't the community here to help people? I could understand if he said ......OMG, I brickated my fone.....I hate you guys, you borked my phone.......But he did neither of those. It sounds like he read the guide, and still something got screwed up along the way. It happens. But there really isn't a need for posts like this.

Yes. I used the stock image from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204. Then I put in the reprovision code somebody posted in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870972. Make sure you don't take any OTA's before putting in the code. I'm not sure if there is a newer method available to fix this problem but this worked for me. Also be aware reprovisioning will wipe your internal memory completely.

[Q] Invalid IMEI after installing ROM

Hello guys,
I just installed 4.1.2 Android from 4.2.2 and now My phone can't read my SIM card. When I'm trying to unlock my phone with GalaxSim Unlock it says "Warning: invalid IMEI. Restoring an EFS backup before unlocking is advised." The IMEI code on *#06# and on my phone's box are different. I have no ideas what I can do because I have never had this problem before after ROM installing. How I can solve this problem?

You need to reread the directions in the Comprehensive IMEI thread. You'll see why it's failing. I will say this though, "adb" is primarily a computer command so it's unnecessary on mobile.

I'll ask you this now before I explain to you the command, does your IMEI in Settings/About Phone match what's on your Verizon GSIII retail box? Cuz restoring your IMEI will not work right now if its the wrong one. What you just backed up could be the "broken" IMEI and restoring it will do you more harm than good.

For clarity purposes, yes. Although, I see you posted this question in the Comprehensive IMEI thread and received an answer there as well.

IMEI codes are different. Now the IMEI code is 004999010640000. On my box the IMEI code is very different that one.

Aight, second question. Are you absolutely sure that you have a Verizon Galaxy SIII (d2vzw aka SCH-i535)? If so, proceed to read.
if you just performed this IMEI backup with the improper IMEI then the restore command will only reinsert this same wrong IMEI. You want your "proper" IMEI which is on the box to be backed up before you ever attempt an IMEI restore. If you have a CWM or TWRP rom backup then you should try restoring that THEN check if your IMEI is correct or wrong.
Do not post your proper IMEI. If it returns if/when you restore your rom in CWM or TWRP then just say "my IMEI is correct" or something like that. If you don't have a CWM or TWRP backup or don't know what I'm talking about then you're going to need a Windows computer and you'll need to Odin flash stock VRALF1 or VRAGL1 firmware tar. Make sure to unzip the file before using Odin, Odin flashes "tar" and "tar.md5" files only. If your IMEI is not restored at that point, then you'll need to reprovision your LTE sim card with the following code. It will erase your phone's storage. The dialer code only works o ICS software (so you'll need absolutely need VRALF2 or VRALG1):
Open the dialer and enter *2767*3855#
I'm stepping out for an hour or so. If you have any questions, hopefully someone else can provide input. If someone else things what I wrote above is unnecessary, please say so.
Edit: For clarity as well, I do not know if the VRALF2 or VRALG1 tar files format your internal storage (let's reasonably assume they do wipe /sdcard), so backup whatever important data you have on the phone to your computer or external sdcard.
Actually I have got SGS3 i9300. When I created this thread I didn't see that here is a subforum for i9300. Thanks for the help I will try it and let you know.

I'm actually considering doing this today. I lost my IMEI/ERI and restored them with the forbidden software but the problem I'm having is on some roms my google play store won't connect and it's been kinda frustrating and I don't know what else do, I've cleared store cache and data, plus every other fix I could find online. Plus it might be good practice for me if I have to send my phone back in the future as I bought my S3 rooted and unlocked.

The only thing I can chalk it up to is maybe there was something still wonky because I didn't Odin back and used the Repair Tool. I'm off today and not really interested in the football game tonight so I got time. I'll Odin back, reprovision and reroot, unlock and see what happens with play store after that, thanks for all your help. Learned alot from your posts dude...:good:

This was before I found the Samsung Repair Utility so you may not need QPST and you can just use the repair utility.
1) I restored my IMEI using this guide here: http://droidmodderx.com/galaxys3/?page_id=79
2) Please note that since I hadn't found the repair utility you may not need to do step one, the repair utility does both IMEI/ERI
3) Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44871571&postcount=3
4) We don't want to get XDA in trouble so I can't link the repair utility or have a mirror for it. I can only put you on the block and you have to find the house....
5) Once everything is ok flash your modem back up to whatever current modem you were using.
6) Also it may be best to just Odin back as I'm having issues with Play Store on certain roms.

What is the version of your Android? When I write *#7284# I don't see something like "Qualcomm USB Settings"
