[Q] Upgrade : Galaxy Nexus I9250 or Xperia SL - which one should i opt for - General Questions and Answers

Dear Members,
I have been using Samsung Galaxy S I9000 for the past couple of years. Recently it fell down and the display was broken, Samsung Service centre told me it will cost me 6500 INR to get it replaced. So I decided to upgrade. After looking at options, I have zeroed in on 2 models.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250
or
Sony Xperia SL
I am quite satisfied with both the android phones when it comes to specs. But I am just worried about the issues with them. One of my friend bought Nexus and he always complains that the volume is really low. I have also read in many places about the same issue which is holding me back from buying it.
When it comes to Xperia SL, there are a lot of complaints about the battery life and poor viewing angles in the absence of Amoled.
I am from India, but I am traveling to Duabi next month and will buy the phone there. There is not a big difference in the pricing between the two.
I just cannot come to a conclusion which one should i buy.
Any suggestions will be really appreciated.

Wich phone should I buy?

I'm moving from a Google Nexus S (bought one and an half year ago). I would like to buy a Sony from the Xperia series, but I have a limited budget: around 250 and 300 euros. Wich one do you think I should buy?
EDIT: Is the Gnex a good buy right now? What about Lumia 800?

What is it about the Sony phones that you like more than a Samsung?

First of all, the materials and their forms! And, if only I decide to buy a Samsung, I don't know wich one..
I'm just attracted by the Xperia series, but If I can find a Galaxy Nexus at around 200-220 euros I'll buy it! I saw the nice Xperia U that is a great phone compared to his price here in Italy..Or I could just wait some time and buy a Xperia S..
EDIT: wrong Xperia (changed from Z to S)

I do like the look of the newer Sony devices, I just worry that they won't get the developer following that Samsung phones have. Wait for MWC and see if Samsung announces the Galaxy S4, it's only a short time away and you see something other than either of those that you like.
Gnex for the win, nothing but butter !

Yeah I like the Gnex too, but I'm a bit afraid that it is already considered "old". Is it a good buy right now?
What about a Lumia800? at 200-230 euros?
Samsung galaxy s3 mini or nexus..Both are great

Maybe Sony Xperia P? It has aluminium unibody case, bright display, dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It is also quite compact because of "only" 4'' display.
I think that they are all good devices (exept for the galaxy s3 mini..I can't stand it), I LOVE the design of the xperia P and I also really wish to get another Nexus device (in my country the Nexus 4 is not sold,, :S) so everything depends upon their cost..I'll wait a sale and I'll get the best offer!!
You might also want to consider Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. It's cheaper than Xperia P (but also made from worse materials) but it has similar specs and unlike Xperia it also has microSD slot and removable battery.
the 2011 xperias are cheap and has great dev support, i recommend the xperia ray with a 300 ppi screen and a 8 mp camera, best bang for your buck imo
Ok guys I'll just buy what fits best my personality (and my pocket ), buyt Gnex is #1 now.
Thanks All!
try chinese like meizu, very good phones and cheap

or save your money for the galaxy s 4
My friend's google nexus has not only been a great performer, it has proven to be extremely durable. As he drops it A LOT and it still works like the day he bought it.

[Q] Advice needed: Have Note II, what second phone to get?

I have a Note II GT-N7100 and love it. However, I need an additional Android (GMS unlocked) phone.
So far I looked the Nexus 4 which seems to be a good candidate in pretty much every respect. The one thing I do not like is that the battery is not replaceable.
My questions are:
How good is the battery? How long does it last (on a charge and lifetime)?
Is there another comparable phone I should look at?
Are there any other issues I should concern myself with?
This phone will be used with a prepaid GSM service in the US and abroad
Thanks for your help.
Why do you need a second phone?
I carry a dual sim phone the Samsung galaxy grand duos. Saves me from carrying two phones. The only thing letting this phone down is the memory only 4GB. Info can be found by googling.

Is MobiMega reliable?

Bros,
Thinking of buying the phone case and bluetooth headset for Galaxy S4 from MobiMega. Any feedback on their reliability and warranty coverage?

Hope I'm not too late to help but I'm really a huge fan of them. Getting my accessories since my S2 to S3 and now for Sony Xperia Z Ultra. Their prices are good, ship fast and respond to my every emails. But I do wish a lot more brands and selection to come as their product range is not wide enough. :highfive: Otherwise I could buy all my stuff in one store instead of several stores among the world.

[Q] Will you stay

So now that we know the S6 will not have a removable battery, will you stay anyway?
I know that I will not be sticking around. Based on that fact alone, and the fact the my S4 and S5 have been disappointments, I am making the move to the LG G3. I don't think I will ever be ok with a unit that you cannot pull the battery out of. How much do you think it will cost to replace the battery outside the warranty period?
I'm with you. No removable battery, and no SD card are deal breakers for me. I think there are many like you and I who despise superficial style over substance, function, and repairability.
The Galaxy S6 might as well be an iPhone that runs Android. Most of the reviews trashing Samsung plastic bodies are from iPhone using reviewers.
I will hang on to my S4 Tri-band until it no longer functions. When the time comes for replacement, if LG still makes phones with removable batteries, that is what I will buy.
I'm looking forward to seeing if this is a miscalculation by Samsung. The sales numbers will tell.
I don't find it a need for me to switch from a Note 3, nothing looks worth yet. I'll wait for the Note 5, but we'll see.
Also I'm considering buying an Asus Zenfone 2 to play with, the estimated max 350$ price seems worth it to try.
Better switch to lg g4 when it is released it will be a great device
I thought I might skip the S6 b/c of the no removable battery & no SD card support but I decided to get the S6 Edge when it comes out. Besides my S4, I've been using a Nexus 5 since it first came out and I've gotten used to not having those features. The S6 Edge is just so advanced and good-looking that I'm willing it get it.

Now or wait?

Would you buy s7 now or wait for next S phone? Do they historically come out around Feb?

I would buy one now. In fact, I just did. I got a killer price and accessories are dirt cheap, for the most part. It's still a badass phone with top-notch specs, and probably one of the best deals around. At first release, it was way overpriced compared to the competition. Now? Definitely get it. The S8 will be $400+ more than a S7 when it's released.
This year so far, I went from a Droid Turbo 2 to Note 5 to Moto X to S7 to iPhone 6s to Nexus 6P back to the S7. I played extensively with a HTC 10, Pixel, Moto Z, LG G5 and iPhone 7. Other than the 6P, the S7 has been my favorite phone this year. A close third would be the Moto Z. Unfortunately, the largeness of the Z and 6P killed it for me. Had it or the 6P been a bit smaller, I would have stayed. But, I digress.
I recommend getting a S7. It's a damn good phone.
Thanks. Seems international version going for $500. Think that's a good price new?

Right now I would wait to buy a S8. It'll be out around spring time.
What I look for in a phone is 5.1"-5.5", latest hardware, nice speakers, nice build. Depends on what you have now and if you only want to spend under $500. I see that you are using a Moto X? If you are than definitely get a S7 international exynos version or the AT&T variant can be purchased for under $400 usd nowadays used.
I totally agree with you on that. I've been a huge HTC fan and than got me a AT&T S6 when it first came out than I won a bid for a gently used AT&T s7 for around $400 USD out the door. As a everyday phone and not having root this phone has it all. The size is manageable and perfect for me. I had a LG V10 and that thing was too hard to pocket and also a Nexus 6. The speakers were always a big reason for me to purchase a phone but now I don't really care for that feature.
The S7 is the overall best phone I've owned to this day. It makes a really good daily for any person that doesn't urge to root and flash ROMS. Fast camera, Great bright AMOLED screen, snappy performance, microSD slot plus water proof, WIRELESS CHARGING, bottom speaker gets loud but its not the best. The always on display gimmick is actually really useful and just got updated to look like Note 7's always on. Overall I am pretty happy with the phone.
It would depend on how you feel about your current phone. I switched to S7 because the S6 got poor battery endurance and sluggish.
The S7 has better screen and camera than my previous S5, the UI is about the similar smooth because S5 could be on customized rooted ROMs.
Also, would the money be an issue to you? S7 is estimated $200 to 300 cheaper than the S8.
i just bought the s7 a few days ago after many weeks of doubt (whether i shud get it or not), and i'm very glad i did, this phone is insane (even without root)
my previous phones were xiaomi mi4 & oneplus x, both phones i rooted instantly and flashed hundreds of ROM's, with the S7 i don't feel the need to flash a ROM atm
the display is amazing as well & the battery is good enough for me (getting around 5-6hrs SOT with mixed usage of Wifi/4G, while i havent even had the time to remove the bloatware)
