Hi, I have tried couple of ROMS but the battery life is not that good. What are you guys using or think that has the best battery ?It has to be stock since all custom roms are buggy
Thanks for your feedback !

indian stock rom is DDLF2
Its for India only.No country specific apps.
You may try DDLF2 as well.
And you can find any stock rom on www.samfirmware.com
Provided you are having an account on that site.
Otherwise visit the thread made for it in the development section.

thanks, i have an account and no have XXLE4 on ...
Flash DDKP3
I would suggest DDKP3 . Just Root , stay on Stock Kernal , and delete unwanted apps by Root Explorer . I am getting very good battery life .
Nearly 1% battery drain over 8 hours on deep sleep mode.

DDLF2 is better than DDKP3....ddkp3 has heating issues, ie during phone calls...so flash DDLF2..and then bam v15 if u need a custom kernel...
Will upload screenshots by tomorrow.

Hello xdities!!!
I am a student(18 years old.).Today i have exchanged my SGA with my father's SGSL.He was using froyo so now i want to update firmware to stock gingerbread.I am Indian so i want to be in first Indian stock then i will move on to some custom roms.
I have seen that the latest Indian stock is DDKP3.
So my question is that is this having any bugs?what about battery life?Or should i use some european roms?
And the last question which odin version are you using?

Try XXKPQ. Most mods right now are based on this firmware. I9003SERKPU is bad when it comes to battery life compared to XXKPQ
Guys i successfully updated to ddkp3, I have found some bugs in it that sometimes when I see my notification it doesn't go upwards and second the homescreen sometimes goes flickering.

If the Indian stock is buggy, try the European one-XXKPQ.
There is no issue like got to be on an Asian ROM if you are an Asian.

No, only bug is sync bug, but resolved in last vurrut / bam kernel ( see relative threads )

Battery life is relative, our phone has a good , VERY Good battery life than others smartphone ( some .. ) but anyway 4" display with 1 Ghz Cpu consuming a lot, anyway if you set brightness to 10-30% and CPU 300-1000 Mhz with Conservative or InteractiveX , your battery is ok
XXKPQ ( Russian Release if i dont wrong ) is suggest, not because its better than indian release, but simply because its more used and there are a lot of theme, UC kernel for its ( DDKP3 too )

Hi and welcome to the Galaxy SL Forum, if you want to root update first to Gingerbread, try searching 'General Guide for i9003 Noob'
And for your questions:
1. No, you don't need internet, you only need it when you download ROMs, tweaks and CF-Root.
2. For downloading ICS apps on Froyo, no you can't . You can run ICS apps if you install custom ROMs that based on CM9 or CM10
Good luck with the phone mate

Yes. My procedure to go to ICS or JB based CROM is
1) flash xxkpe as per guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787 .. download ROM file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
2) flash ddlf2 per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370
3) Use CF-Root to root ddlf2 per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253
4) Flash ICS or JB ROM of your choice, ONLY AFTER READING THE PARTICULAR THREAD
I'd still prefer you do more searching and reading before attempting something that you dont understand completely.

I'll answer your PM here.
As per what I read here, it is advised (by people's experience) that it's better to flash xxkpe(using ODIN) 1st then to a gingerbread valuepack firmware(i used ddlf2) of your choice, then to root it. Then flash any ICS/JB ROM of your choice.
Also, you need to understand you'll lose everything on your phone when you flash xxkpe using odin. Also, once rooted, you'll be unable to use Kies to restore your data. So, before attempting all this, make sure you backup everything that you'll regret losing.

there are many youtube tutorials and you can easily search for them and choose what is best for you but the thing you need to know about is that for upgrading your firmware from froyo to gingerbread you dont need rooting.. you can do it officially by downloading Samsung Kies or by following the simple steps from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894737
Now after upgrading to gingerbread you can root your phone by following the simple steps using the link as above.
its okay to get confused the first time but follow the amazing simple steps from the above link and it should be just fine
