Which roms have erikmms wifi fix? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Subject is question. I think its the stock sammy he released and miuiv4 any others ? I just moved to philly and the router is ten feet above me but still flicks out on cm7. I was either gonna flash b'day one of his ics roms.or go.back.to gb. I know the imm76 roms wireless was very impressive and would workbperfect so if anyone knows what other roms are his that have that wifi fix please respons thank you.

Miui v4 has it (and Hebmiui too obviously).

Someone told me the graphical viewing of the bars on the phone is misleading and its actually the same dbm. If anyone can confirm. I guess it dont matter that aries it out now. Messed up tho
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2

I can confirm!

Stock sammys ROM and eriks are different though. Although Erik's shows a higher WiFi bar signal, it still disconnects at the same areas that a normal ICS ROM would. But on Sammy's, it doesn't disconnect on these areas

My .02 : I am also on gb 2.3.4 hk1 and show poor signal strength, but I can still connect via wifi even when it says I have no signal. So I believe its just an issue of the graphical signal representation not matching the actual signal strength that you have.

No its a actual signal problem becuase i did a wifi speed test and got under 1mb when i usually get 15+ mb so its not a graphics error. But im sure someone will solve it soon.

How can I downgrade BB plz help

Ok, so i already did so much research on this and still havent come up to anything :/. My plan is to get back to rooted GB2.3 since im upgrading phone but given this one to my brother and well all this new roms are not really stable want to leave him with a good stable rom and stock as well. But since i have march 11 BB can really go back to STOCK OTA GB 2.3 i already flashed it and well of course the phone calls dont work :/. Can someone plz help me how to downgrade on it, its urgent since getting my new phone next week. Will donate for the help.
If your issue is the poppy sound in calls, there is a fix for that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776843
Go in this link and download new base Band fix.
If your brother uses GPS, then stay on this base band.
If he uses blue tooth calling, then stay on the stock ROM.
Believe me this base band is better.
P.s: I like my donation in $20 crisp bills, Thank you.

I will give this a shot when i get home from work if it works fine will donate like i promise, Butwht i ended it up doing for now is flashing2.3.4GB but only thing is bothering me is the signal bars aint green. N i flashed the OTA green signal fix that worked on 2.3 but after i did my, status bar wouldnt show up at all and would kept getting FC on it every second. All i want for it to work perfectly fine nice gps locks and of course the calling and data no drops. That is reason why im just rotting but staying on stock rom and hoping everything works fine to pass it to my bro. BY the way Any fix to green signals color on 2.3.4? If there is ill just go ahead and do that and stay n 2.3.4. N of course still will donate.

I don't know what you mean by flashing 2.3.4 GB cuz base band on this phone isn't flash able like roms
And kernel. I will assume you did it correctly.
Moving on, if you don't care about blue tooth calling, you can try paranoid Android in Dev forum, not that other roms are not good, but I have been using that for a while and it's pretty stable with no data drops.
For calling, flash that zip I have you the link too and it will work on your base band.
Try that and see if it suits you.

I flashed the stable version of CM10 last night from stock ICS 4.0.4 and my signal sucks. I tried flashing the new VRLJ1 Radio + RPM and still nothing. I used to get 3-4 bars at home now I barely get 2.
I am looking for a ROM that can fix this problem.
Let me know if you find a fix.
Thanks
You might want to check w/vzw to see if work is being done in your area (towers down, etc). My signal has been solid and improved on eclipse 4/new j1 radio. Was on liquid 7 prior with no issues signal wise. If anything signals are improving.

Great advice to follow, sometimes its not always your radio but rather maintenance, if the problem arose switching to your said ROM, ask in that specific if anyone else has the same problem, or switch between radios and see what works for you. It is known that not all radios are great for everyone, sometimes an old one works better for specific people in different areas

Fwiw- aosp ROMs don't seem to have the signal strength compared to touch wiz ROMs. Until ril and kernel source is released there's going to be this issue. However, after flashing the latest jellybean radio I've had much better data and phone signal reception.

So I should switch to a TW ROM in order for the service to improve?

I to have bad signal. At my house my phone jumps from 4G to 3G. I do not have problems with the phone everything else work flawlessly.
My wife has an old 3G phone (first gen) it works great. My old 3G Driod X gets great signal. The wife got a LG Envy 4G phone a few weeks ago. Always has 4G she even gets 4G on the bottom floors of the hospital. My SIII get no service. I think it is a Samsung thing my self.
Samsung doesn't have the best radios, that's for sure.
That being said TW is definitely the way to go if you're in a fringe area. AOSP just can't do it right yet...which is really annoying...
Why are folks comparing signal bars? Its been said time after time that its meaningless. The only way to compare is go into settings/about device and look up the signal -db. I can gurantee aosp signal is no worse than touchwiz...now in fringe coverage areas i believe touchwiz is still slightly better.

[Q] Will a different radio fix this?

Hi everyone, I'm running CM10.0.0 Skyrocket with UCLD2 modem. I live in Jupiter, FL and when I am traveling through town and pass through areas that switch between HSPA, 3G, and 4G, I often have to toggle airplane mode to get data back. Is this due to my radio? I was doing research in the forum about the various radios and I couldn't find a definitive comparison of the various modems to each other with a chronology of release. I'd guess that newer modems are better, but then I read that sometimes that's not the case. Anyone care to weigh in on why I lose data connection when traveling through different data zones? btw i checked my APN settings and theyre fine.
I too run into the same issue but when I'm at work I know that if you running jb data loss has been known to be an issue with it yes the newer the modem can potentially fix or issue depending on situation best option is test

Just an update, things still seem good with CI3 compared to my old radio. Only thing I notice is it doesn't really like 4G data, it'll say 4G and have good bars, and I can make and receive calls fine. But if I go online it'll stall, and I'll watch it struggle and then swap to H+ and be fine. That’s the only remaining quirk. Not sure why it's doing that.

If you lose signal after flashing the radio you want a reboot usually helps or you may have to get the correct APN.

hows that 989d telus modem running for you? I am guessing that the reason the other modem software is working is cause the hardware is similar or same between some of these phones right? is there a way to find out what chip sets are on these phones to get an Idea of what other firmware works on some of these phones? the T989UVMC6 seems to help my charge time a little and dose seem a little faster on download speeds but still nervous about causing any long term problems but there is no signs of overheating or running flaky so I guess it should be fine.
thanks
I have done some preliminary testing with the UVMB1 and UVMC6 radios and have some very definitive results. There's a speedtest.net server where I live so there shouldn't be too much variance here. I have done some other testing with the other radio (the t989d) with mixed results. The t989d radio is very inconsistent where I live.
The UVMB1 is the first three results, and the UVMC6 is the next three. Pretty conclusive to me. I will be on the UVMC6 from here on
I'm also using the UVMC6 and it does seem to give me a stronger signal. I should probably run a test and get some "official" results.

been running all day with UVMC6 almost 14 hours and still 64% battery and I used my phone a lot today listening to Pandora radio for almost an hour and 4 or 5 phone calls and played on the web a little. I think I am safe to say it improved battery but I rarely loose much signal in KCMO so I cant say that signal is better but I may have seen more H+ than I normally see. my home has steel siding so I dont see as much H+ when inside but it seems to have been H+ most of the time I checked today.
and again thanks for sharing with the rest of us on this information, it has improved the quality of my phone so many thanks
Welcome, I found it when had my skyrocket and figured I'd try it out. It does seem to make signal stronger and battery. The 989D was ok just didn't hold signal to long
