Hello.
I've been having an issue with Youtube. It gives me this error with the app and the website doesn't work. Any advice?
Here are my specs
- Phone: HTC One V PrimoC
Carrier: Virgin Mobile USA
Rom: Paranoid Android 2.99 Beta
Kernel: Supersick 1-21-13
Do you have an actual data connection going? (that may be WiFi or a GSM/CDMA data connection)
Can you load other websites, and use apps for online services like Facebook & Twitter?
CDMA and everything loads fine. Wifi and 3g work.

You could try to clear the data of the YouTube application:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Youtube -> Force Stop -> Clear Data
Other than that, do other applications that stream video work?
Hello had this issues before an hour and deleting and reinstalling youtube helped
clean also the catch to be sure.
if i helped hit thanks

Fix
For me nothing worked until this:
For youtube tried to clean data restart and so on, till I uninstalled update and now it works. I think they try to implement something so you can't watch from other country as my phone think I'm from US but I'm in Europe or they made really poor app.
Crappy version: 5.1.10
My version: 4.4.11
i still having this issue
what ive done
- off/on several time
- force close youtube app, clear cache & data
- uninstall & reinstall app from playstore
same issue, any idea please..?
running 4.4.2 kitKat cyanfox
works fine before this with Mokee 4.4.2
I having the same issue on my note 10.1 2014.
Only works on 3g/4g data connection. Will play for about 50 seconds then stops. Every video. Once I'm using wifi it works fine.

I accidentally blocked the Android media server with a firewall, re-enabling it solved the problem. Using the newest version of the YT app.

hey!
i have the same problem
sony z1 , kryptonian rom+kryptonian kernel
even i am unable to play videos in sony's video app or stream on fb or chroma
plz help
I know this is an old thread but it comes up top on Google and the bug apparently affects MM on newer Sony devices so a solution is helpful.
Finally found a fix for my Z3C 5.1.1 problem, courtesy of irevhard on XDA from Z2 forums

Hello,
We have a brand new Nexus S (model GT-I9023FSAXEN). Everything works only the youtube app is not functioning.
The app is installed but we can't stop it or clean cash in manage apps( butons are all greyed out)
New install from the market is not possible and a factory reset brings no solution?
Please advice.
The weird thing is that there are more people with this new model and a non working Youtube app.
Thanks
You can root the phone and delete/uninstall the Youtube and then reinstall it.
How exactly is the app not working?
Root is not an option
Youtube is not vissible in the app drawer, in the market it says it is installed, in manage apps youtube is visible but all the buttons are greyed out (so we can't stop the proces or clear cash)

If root isn't a option the youtube isn't a option then. Because you're unable to make modifications to /system/ your only way out of this is to exchange for a new phone. Or root it

I have exactly the same problem! Very odd. Accessing the Youtube mobile site is fine, but clunky compared to what an app could provide
I have the same problem with the nexus s youtube app. Would it be possible to root and re install a working version then un root and go back to stock?
Try clearing data from Google partner setup.

My Xoom is not recognized by the market as a option for the You Tube app. Where as my HTC Evo phone is. I can play youtube on my phone but not on my Xoom. So you do the math.
update: Found this on the Xoom Forum and confirmed working; ......."Had a similar problem on XOOM with ICS EOS version 1.0.0. I ended up going to Settings - Apps - ALL - clicking on the YouTube app and then clearing the cache - clearing data and then force stopping the app."

It's not just a problem with AOSP roms, I'm experiencing it with my stock Xoom on ICS.
I just cleared the cache, the data, and I force closed the YouTube app, and now it is working for me! Try it and see if it works!

Lots of Samsung Galaxy Nexus users in South Africa experiencing the exact same issue that images on the Play Store doesn't load/show when using Vodacom's 3G network, but everything seems to be fine on WiFi.
Have a look at your APN settings, the Default Vodacom APN comes with a proxy, once that was removed the images started to load.
SOLUTION
@Kubent
@Fritsa.Viljoen
@Fritsa.Viljoen, Great, thank you for the solution.
@Kubent, I am from Cape Town, Yesterday I upgraded to ICS via accesing About>Software>Upgrade
it worked great, my phone was linked to wifi and everything worked. Last night wile at home and paging through my app, none of the pictures loaded. I found this site, and tried Fritsa.Viljoens solution this morning.
IT WORKED
My service provider is Vodacom. This is what I did and it worked.
Settings>More...>Mobile networks>Access Point Names(APN)>Internet.Vodacom>Proxy>Delete Proxy using backspace>OK> KABOOM it works (Thanks to Fritsa.Viljoen
thanks a lot

Firstly, turn on yr wifi. Let it connect to yr SSID or wifi network. Long press over it. U can find it in yr wifi settings. After long pressing over the name of wifi or also known as SSID;
Go to: modify network config.
Click on: show advanced options.
Scroll down n change IP settings field from DHCP to STATIC.
Scroll down n go to DNS 1 n DNS 2 fields only.
Change it.
DNS1: 8.8.8.8
DNS2: 4.4.4.4
save it.
Note: Do not change any other fields.
If it didn't work, don't change DNS1 and change DNS2 to 8.8.8.8
and save it.
Additionally, u can change it directly from your router' s DHCP settings.
I hope it will definitely fix yr problem. Enjoy.
Same issue that i having face
Just got Cyanogenmod 10 on my tab and love it. But got a few problems i need to figure out. I still have a problem with apps auto-starting and have used Gemini-app to stop this. But now with the new Cyanogenmood it says that i need to enable USB-debugging. But this option is not possible on my tab. I see the options in settings but they are grey and there is no way to check any box.
Anybody have the same problem???
Ps: Also have problem with youtube-app crashing and a weird thing with XDA site when i start a page here sometimes my utorent-client starts to run.
Im not on the same tab as you but I use Startup manager to kill unwanted apps from starting. Never had any issues with it , free as well.
Startup Manager - Clean up your android system from system startup!
Startup Manager aims at helping disable/enable startup items from system boot for Android devices including smartphones and tablets. To disable an item from system startup, uncheck the application from the list (recheck to restore and it will start again). For other item that do not start with system boot, please use “Customize” to add and enable it to start with system boot.

Try to see the on/off switch in the most up right of screen to enable setting change
About youtube, try delete cash, delete dalvik cash and fix permissions in cwm (no factory reset) if not, so try reflashing gapps again for then try to update youtube via market
If not so try app like tubemate (search google not google play), it is alternative to youtube and allow recording also
Regarding xda try another torrent client or delete cash of xda app and torrent client from setting/apps

Do you have background data restricted for this app? If that's not the case, it may have something to do with the app itself, I don't have this issue. Did this happen recently (ie worked fine until I installed/flashed ______)?
Nope, it happens on my Nexus 7 tablet too.

I just checked both on data/wifi and it works fine for me, no message. Have you tried to wipe data/cache for the app or try to uninstall the updates back to factory then reinstall? Also try with the Xposed activated or modules as well. See if that's influencing it.
having the same problem here and I'm on 2.3.4 xperia play so not a specific version problem , but the thing I noticed is that we both have a google and a youtube account , perhaps the youtube app get confused and don't save its data , I didn't have this problem in earlier version of youtube though -_- , (all xposed modules disabled too)
Help I don't think I have the same problem because it says there was an error while playing tap to try again
