Hello,
We have a brand new Nexus S (model GT-I9023FSAXEN). Everything works only the youtube app is not functioning.
The app is installed but we can't stop it or clean cash in manage apps( butons are all greyed out)
New install from the market is not possible and a factory reset brings no solution?
Please advice.
The weird thing is that there are more people with this new model and a non working Youtube app.
Thanks
You can root the phone and delete/uninstall the Youtube and then reinstall it.
How exactly is the app not working?
Root is not an option
Youtube is not vissible in the app drawer, in the market it says it is installed, in manage apps youtube is visible but all the buttons are greyed out (so we can't stop the proces or clear cash)

If root isn't a option the youtube isn't a option then. Because you're unable to make modifications to /system/ your only way out of this is to exchange for a new phone. Or root it

I have exactly the same problem! Very odd. Accessing the Youtube mobile site is fine, but clunky compared to what an app could provide
I have the same problem with the nexus s youtube app. Would it be possible to root and re install a working version then un root and go back to stock?
Try clearing data from Google partner setup.

This same issue was just discussed a few day ago. This is how they fix it.

So I guess this is the right section, correct me if i am wrong.
I've installed a craked version of Beautiful Widgets (shame on me) so I could try it for some time. Now I want to buy the application and I cant! Somehow the android market thinks i've purchased the app.
Does any one know a way to fix that?
Tks
Have you tried uninstalling the cracked version first? That should in theory let you buy it. If you already did that then I have no idea lol.

I've flashed the new GB, so the app is not at my phone anymore /=
Try clearing data for the market. Go to settings > applications > manage applications, then select the "all" tab. Scroll down until you find the market app and select it. Select the "clear data" button. If that doesn't clear the cache - it should - clear that as well. Then open the market and search for Beautiful Widgets. Hopefully you'll be able to purchase it before it repopulates your list of apps.
I've noticed this with apps that I got for free from Amazon. If you cannot get that to work, wait until there's an update to BW. Once you see the "update" button and select it, you'll be given an option to buy it. I thought that somehow the Market integrated with Amazon (yeah right), but unfortunately not.
I think pirating apps is sleazy, especially considering that they're usually only $1-$3 and a one-time purchase. But thank you for actually purchasing the app after pirating it.

I´ve already tryed to clear the market data and no succes =/ Guess I will have to wait for the next update from Level Up.
I agree with you plainjane, the apps price are VERY reasonable, but I like to try the apps for some time before buying them and the new market refound system makes impossible to try the app for some time.
Any other suggestions?
Have you tried purchasing it from a computer? Go to the market website and try there. If you're able to purchase it there, the download should automatically start on your device if you're connected to the Internet.
Alternatively, you can reinstall the app and uninstall it from the market. You should then have the option to purchase it.
If you can't get anything to work, you can always contact Market support.

If you think you still have remains on your phone from the cracked version you can try the app in my signature "sd maid" to remove those remains.

Try installing the cracked version and uninstalling through the market. Not an ideal solution but I think that will work.

Sadlly no. The web market (market.google) has a database for the purchased apps. So if you install a cracked version of an App google put a purchased flag on the database. But i think that the old market does not use this database that is why i was abble to buy the app using the old market.
When i say the old market i mean that one that came with the 2.2, with a green half circle on top.

OK the way to do it that has worked for me when I use cracked apps to test is that, it will look like it thinks you have purchased but when you hit update or install, it will ask you to pay.
Remember to hit the thanks button if I helped! It only takes a second!

thx for helping out, but problem not solved!
i have tried the following:
* update from cracked app
* uninstalled cracked app and then install from market
* uninstalled cracked app, installed demo version from market and then tried to upgrade to full version
all of these attempts failed!
it just says in the market that the app is purchased and when i try to install it (or update it), it says something like "download declined because app is not purchased"!
i guess a full wipe would be a solution, but i´d rather not do that, right now!
Full wipe won't help...at least it didn't in my case. I have done a few full wipes and even switched between android versions and still get to "download and install" before it tells me app is not purchased but there is no purchase option in market, only install...

Hi,
half a year ago I had a "HYBRID" called Rom installed on my Phone. This Rom had several premium apps (aka warez) with them. Accidently, I tried to update some of them back then.
The Rom didn't last long on my phone but now I have problems because of that update-try it seems.
The App "Tapatalk" is marked as paid in my Google Apps section. If i click "Install" it says "Error 403" (not authenticated I guess).
There is no way to remove the app from my App Section it seems. I tried requesting a refund, describing my problem but only thing I got back was a mail telling me that it is a free app?!
Anyone has an idea how i can remove this app from my list so I can buy it?
I had no problems buying other apps so far (Root Explorer and PowerAmp just yesterday), its just this Tapatalk app.
Thanks for your help!
regards
From what I have read it looks like you will not be able to remove it from your list. Did you try clearing the cache and data for the android market app?
Had this problem myself before.
only way I got around it was to freeze market updater, Downgrade to an old market, one of the original greeny ones. 2. something. Then unlink the app from the market. I then choose to buy the app. Then unfreeze your market updater and let it update or flash a new market.
You will need to reboot after most of those steps.
This should hopefully help as it did for me.
Yes. I also have tried a workaround with market fixer that i have found (clear google service framework, delete links, reboot and such stuff).
The app is also marked as "paid" on the Google Website (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=tapatalk&c=apps)
Thanks StephenC82. I will try that!
I've the same problem, but my paid apps were all downloaded for free on GetJar -_-'
I've sent a bug report, they contacted me and after one thousand emails (where they asked me to reset the phone twice etc) they told me that they're working on it and I've just to wait for news from them...
Good luck bro, sadly we're in the same boat
The market thing didnt do the trick, but this topic helped!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547134
The Javascript code did nothing, but inspecting the element + changing the value to "false" helped. I clicked "purchased" again and it asked me for the payment informations. After that i was able to download the app via the normal play market on my phone
Glad you got it worked out.
Greatttttttttt

Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had apps install by themself, over the past few days a couple of apps have somehow showed up on my home screen. They don't show up under the app drawer or under apps in settings. Also ever since these started coming thru I keep getting notifications for other stuff like "lose belly fat" and "job offers starting at $325 and hour". I'm currently running aokp m6 if it helps. I've done a full wipe and it stopped for a day and then came back. I'll post some screen shots of the apps.
P.s. the ones installing automatically are the last three above the PayPal widget.

I too had some Apps install on their own. But they were apps I had before I attempted a NANDROID Restore, which for some odd reason failed and killed my Boot. So I was forced to re-flash my stock boot/ROM on my S3 (AT&T Flavor) and repeat the Rooting process. But once I started looking through my app drawer, some of these apps were being re-installed. Odd, perhaps some internal back-up that I'm not aware of on ICS.
Yea these are random apps that aren't even from the play store. When I click on them they open the browser and take me to a page to sign up for a subscription.

Have you installed recently any pirate app? An app not bought or downloaded from Android market?
I saw some apps that installs a patch that brings/installs apps and shortcuts on your cellphone. Tô solve this Just delete the program or patch and use an antivirus Just in case...
Good luck

same issue
I'm having this issue but its legit apps keep "updating" themselves baxk after I uninstall them
ie: bbm, flashify, (more I can't think off atm)
Some of the apps has Adware build in it, which means if you download the App, it will spam your Home screen full.
You can fix this problem by manually delete it everytime, to fix it permantly you need to delete the app.

Are you sure you uninstalled the right one?
also do you have any virus on your phone? I don't think this is the problem though.

Yes multiple times
Today I went as far as deleting history of them being installed in the app store... Waiting to see if they are back tomorrow
Update: still happening. Resorting to auto update off and still having to stop installs... Something to do with rebooting, or its triggering it
I have been searching all over the place for the last several days for an answer to this issue. I hope someone can help with this.
So I decided a few days ago to upgrade my phone (an HTC Sensation) to ICS. It was previously on Gingerbead. I didn't even know the update was available until I was messing around in the settings.
So the upgrade went well. Didn't lose any data and I thought it was great. Until I decided to watch a YouTube video. Then I locked the screen and the video paused. I know it was not doing this before the upgrade. I subscribe to a few YouTube channels that are just people talking, so I turn off the screen and just listen. So I did a search online and found out a lot of other people were complaining about this as well.
So then I came across a forum post stating they were able to downgrade their YouTube app to an older version and get the play while locked functionality back. I found the APK for 2.1.6 and installed it. Worked great, back up and running with lock and listen.
Then I rebooted the phone. Android "helpfully" decides to re-update my YouTube app to the new "improved" version.
I rooted the phone during the process of trying to fix this. So it has S-OFF, root, and Super SU installed. I also put System Tuner on the phone.
Already checked the Play store to make sure updates are disabled there. I don't have updates enabled for any apps.
How can I stop this automatic upgrading? YouTube is a stock app and from what I understand, Android updates these (gmail, maps, youtube, etc) automatically and you can't stop it on the front end. Any ideas? Something I can do in System Tuner?
Thanks.
TL;DR Try using the search function and you might find something called Titanium Backup which can 'freeze' apps.
Already tried it. System Tuner has this feature. Freezing an app removes it from the drawer and will not allow it to run. Not exactly what I want.
Maybe I didn't make that clear enough. Titanium Backup allows you to effectively remove an app from the Play Store update routine, so it will not update anymore.

Thanks for the info. I didn't want to pay for Titanium Backup, but you at least got me going in the right direction. The issue appears to be that YouTube on my phone is marked as a system app and that causes Android to update it automatically regardless of what you select in the Play Store settings. I was able to use an app called "/system/app mover" to convert YouTube to a user app. Now it won't update automatically.

There is an app calls Addons Detector from Play Store, you can use it to turn on and off the auto notification and download.
actually under Play Store, you can browse your preinstalled app and untick the "Allow automatic updating" option.

Do you have background data restricted for this app? If that's not the case, it may have something to do with the app itself, I don't have this issue. Did this happen recently (ie worked fine until I installed/flashed ______)?
Nope, it happens on my Nexus 7 tablet too.

I just checked both on data/wifi and it works fine for me, no message. Have you tried to wipe data/cache for the app or try to uninstall the updates back to factory then reinstall? Also try with the Xposed activated or modules as well. See if that's influencing it.
having the same problem here and I'm on 2.3.4 xperia play so not a specific version problem , but the thing I noticed is that we both have a google and a youtube account , perhaps the youtube app get confused and don't save its data , I didn't have this problem in earlier version of youtube though -_- , (all xposed modules disabled too)
Help I don't think I have the same problem because it says there was an error while playing tap to try again
