I downgraded from 4.2 to 4.1 on my s3 and noticed I started to get the message of low space. but I knew it was only using 4GB. long story short, i was dumb and deleted the folder outside of sdcard0 called legacy and it said cant delete, bu then I went to my gallery and it was all gone :crying::crying::crying:
I know windows recovery programs wont work because of the MTP deal, but has anyone found a solution? I know there was some type of ADB dump method but i am not too sure about like a timeline as to how long after I can do it, post delete of the images. I am so sad to see everything gone, and know i need to back stuff up but I mean I was wondering if I could just somehow recover at least pictures from the past few days.
thanks guys
Any input at all?

You may follow this guide for how to recover deleted files from samsung galaxy S3 mobile phone:
Samsung phone file recovery
the guide is easy to follow and works well for me. hope that it helps you too.

Proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. It was loaded with bloat so I rooted it. All was well until yesterday when the following issues occurred......
1- The gallery opens and says "no items" when there are pictures there. I can see the thumbnail image but clicking on that only opens a black screen.
2 - I have no audible notifications. I get an error message "process com.android.mms" has stopped and force close.
3- I cant update any of my programs. The updates/reinstall download hangs and never connects. error message " process com.android.vending" has stopped then force close
I was careful to only delete files associated with the bloatware but may have deleted something very much needed.
Any help is greatly appreciated and apologies if this is posted in an incorrect thread.
stupid question, have you tried a complete reboot? Taking battery out and putting it back in?
aside from that it sounds like if that doesnt fix it then you removed something that the system needed...if noone can come up with anything for you a hard reset may be in order..
and this should be moved to general or q&a forum.
Hope you get it fixed!
Pulled battery, sim and sd. Done reset with T-Mo on line and Samsung tech support. Thanks for the reply. Will move post.
I would do a factory reset man, Is not a big deal. Sounds like you deleted a file that shouldn't have deleted.
Try to only delete apps and not system files.
I don't recommend deleting "com.android" files unless you know what you are doing. If you didn't delete any file that begins with "com.android" or similar then it means you deleted a file that try to invoke those files.
If you want to hard reset your phone go to Setting>Privacy>Factory data reset.
Hope this helps
@Moshe22 -- I've done 3 factory and data resets with the same results. sadly that doesn't or didn't add my missing file/s that I may have deleted on accident.
Thanks for the reply.
If that is the case and you have done the 2 types of reset, the one described in my previous post and the one where you enter into recovery mode then i would advised to flash your phone with one of the ROM's in this forum. That should fix it. Make sure you research alot before you flash your phone.
1. Duplicate post
2. Wrong forum
@Toshonobu --
This was already pointed out so it was moved to the correct forum. Can't help people being polite and answering on this forum as well.
Thanks for not offering any advice and just pointing out my posting error. Cheers
Just do what Moshe22 said.
There is a stock rom and the kb5 enhanced in these forums, so take your pick.

Well.... Sorry I suggest searching XDA through GOOGLE and read the other hundred posts and suggested fixes regarding the issue. Try the different methods mentioned. There is one guy 'ODIA' that I have read, and seems to be the only one, who can fix this issue. But you have to pay him, give him access to your computer and the sensitive info on your phone. I tried helping somebody with about a dozen methods and none of them worked for him. But he had a null IMEI (all 0's) and his phone still worked.

One option is to flash to complete stock and take your phone to T-Mobile. Tell them it happened when using Kies mini to upgrade to GB. I read over and over that it has happened to people during that process which would not be your fault and they should help you fix it.
Good Luck!
ty for you time
i didwhat you say and they ask me if i have a phone line whit them ofcourse i dont so they say " just clients can have help from us , and i recomend you to TRASH that phone its TOO OLD!!!!!"
so ive make a guru thing transplan a nv_data.bin from a galaxy ACE to this and see what happend .

My M8(TMobile Variant) has been unlocked, rooted & S-OFF using Firewater, since June 2014(4.4.2 Android Version) I deleted my Carrier IQ files using solid explorer, and now a banner pops up and says:
"Unfortunately, System Manager Application has stopped."
I still have S-OFF and TWRP. But I don't remember all of the ADB Commands, to put my NAND back on the device from the PC. Would someone show me how?
Thank you for using XDA Assist. Did you make a backup nandroid in TWRP? If so just use it's restore function to restore your system.
Yes, I did. But my mistake was not keeping a copy of the NAND, in the internal storage. Instead, it's on the PC hard drive. Everything appears to be working perfectly well, on the device. It just won't allow me to use any functions, by not letting me beyond the home screen.
I'm very comfortable with command prompt and using the ADB commands, I just need someone to walk me through the process. I'm two days away from leaving for a short TDY assignment, and I desperately need my phone. The last thing I've done was to Hard reset it via TWRP, with the hopes of someone finding an M8 4.4.2 RUU(TMobile).
You're going to want to "push" the backup from your PC to the device. See this for how to do that, http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...thread-htc-one-m8-questions-t2897783t=2141817
I went to the url, but nothing was there. Did you miss a character?

My OTG adapter should be here, tomorrow. Would you show me the actual process I need to take, in order to fix the problem?
XDA Assist is here to help you find areas within XDA where you can find answers to or ask the experts your questions. It is not a technical support center. I would suggest you ask your question in the M8 help thread I linked you to. They will know more specifics about your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-htc-one-m8/help

While tired and drunk I accidentally deleted an entire album instead of just the most recent photo. This album contained pictures and videos of my dog who recently passed. Please help me get them back.
I am trying to clone the internal memory to my pc so I can use Recuva to get the photos back. I have been trying to follow the guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
I have tried to follow it to the best of my abilities but when I run the commands through Cygwin64 Terminal I just get "error: closed" message. I think I have installed the Android SDK, Java DK and drivers correctly (can't be sure since there are outdated links and images in the guide, not to mention so many abbreviations that I have no clue what they mean).
I have a rooted S4 GT-I9505 with android version 4.3. My PC's OS is Win 7. I don't know what other details to include.
Just incase I'm really dumb, when I reboot holding the power, vol up and home buttons it goes into recovery mode, is this the same as the bootloader mode? When I enter adb devices it shows it as sideload, whatever that means.
As you can probably tell, I am not a programmer or dev. If I seem really dim please try to forgive me.
Thank you in advance.
My head is pounding now and I'm going to bed, hopefully when I wake there will be an answer waiting for me.
Thanks again.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
You pointed a nice thread to try to recover your files. You should post in the above thread to get further assistance.
Some people have reported success with DiskDigger though.
Good luck!
Hello guys,
I moved yesterday to Android Marshmallow on my Htc one m8 with a customROM and I am just wondering, why I can't delete any system apps. I tried to Google the thing, but I get over and over advertisement and reviews about Android Marshmallow. Nothing that helps.
I tried to delete them with several tools and manually with a data explorer. Nothing worked. It seems like the system is restoring itself. Is there any way to "fix" my problem?
It seems like it's not a device-specific thing, so I've decided to ask in the general Q and A section.. I am sorry, if this wasn't correct.
Edit: I just saw an Android QA thread, so I believe, that this is the wrong forum. Seems like this thread can be deleted, I will post it again in the Android section. Sorry!
Thank for any help!

I think your system is Mounted to read only you need to change it to read/write
Download root explorer then install it!
Now navigate to /system
Open the system folder
Choose Mount R/W in the upper right corner
It will solve the issue!
