S-voice web search uk - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I live in the UK and when I do a web search using s voice it uses google.com instead of google.co.uk so I get US results instead of UK. maybe im being stupid but I can't find a way to change it.

Browser Routing to New Mexico University?!

I'm currently using an unmodified version of RC30. My friend (who also has the G1 on RC30) and I both had a situation in which the browser was routing our web addresses to a website for New Mexico University. The browser would route to that website whether we physically typed the address we wanted to visit (for me it was Facebook, for him eBay) or clicked the site through our bookmarks.
It seemed the only way around this was to enter our sites through a google search.
Has anyone else seen this? What could be causing it?

I was on wifi at the time. One I was familiar with so I don't think it was a case of DNS spoofing

Vodafone App?

I'm running the ionr2-signed on my Magic and it's great, but the one thing I wish I still had was the Vodafone app that comes with the standard Vodafone firmware.
I know I could probably just figure out the web link and use a bookmark... but I can't be the only one here who hates the standard bookmark icons and how we can't change them?
Anywhere I can download this app , or even any way to copy it from the other firmware version?
I think the vodafone live app is just a shortcut to live.vodafone.com...

Latest version of Mango?

Hello
I am a registered developer for WP7 and I got an invite from Microsoft to get Mango for my phone, and I did.
My questions is this: on engadget.com, I saw a video of a phone running a newer version of Mango, with a few extra features (visual voicemail, bing something, etc)
How can I get that? Or is it only available to certain devs?
Searched around, have yet to see any answers.
Thanks.
a number of features are country dependent and some are dependent on your carrier.
If you can give us that information, perhaps someone can tell you more.
can somebody explain to me why I dont have bing audio in mango beta 2? is it region specific too? I am located in surabaya indonesia with telkomsel. developer unlocked...
or nobody has it on their beta 2?

I am located in the US, on AT&T, with a Samsung Focus.
The new Bing map features were demonstrated using an example from NYC, so if anything, this should be available in the US.

I've got it on mine. Tested it too and works. I'm in the US. I wonder if there's any way to trick the Zune software, maybe connect through a proxy or something.

Visual Voicemail is available only on t-mobile in the US.. I have a focus on at&t.. so I don't get it either..
Bing Vision, Bing Music, Bing Maps w/ turn by turn directions and Local Scout all work on my device.
Facebook chat works as well, it just needs to be linked to windows live via live.com before it will work.
I saw at least one video with an unlocked focus running on t-mobile that was demonstrating the visual voicemail feature in mango.
Anybody able to make bing audio work outside us? Tried changing the region settings to us and did not work.
My settings are set to australia, but my actual location is in surabaya, indonesia.
if i disable location from search settings, its worse, local scout button is missing haha.
in germany its also working. turn by turn navigation and voicemail/sms ...

Oh ok, I see. I hope the retail version of mango is the same for everyone. Now off to figure out a way to get it on my phone. If I have any success, I'll post here. I'll message you too.

I'm going to look into this.
In the meantime, you can use the shazam app.
Nice

lack of visual voicemail is reportedly not an OS problem.. it's an at&t network problem.
They have to have it set up on their end.. and they don't have it for any phone but the iPhone.

[Q] USA results on Google Search - I'm in the UK

I had this problem on my Desire, and managed to fix it, but cannot for the life of me remember how.
I've tried everything i can think of, but when I search something like 'lottery', the results are for the US, not the UK (even though I'm searching with google.co.uk). Same when I search 'Spurs', I'm getting NBA related results rather than english football.
Google knows where I am when showing me local shops etc, but the results when searching are always UK first.
Can anyone help me with this?

[Q] Local Time wrong on Chrome/Dolphin/Android browser

Hello guys
when I follow this link http://tiny.cc/rnh0ew on my desktop, google shows me a schedule order of play for the French Open tennis. It shows me the times according to the UK, where I live.
when I follow the same link from my phone using the default browser/chrome/dolphin, the times listed are Eastern USA times, but using Firefox Beta browser the correct UK times are listed.
VERY ODD!!!
I cannot find any settings to figure out why, and I am guessing it has something to do with CyanogenMod CM9... perhaps there is some code which tells some of the browsers the location is the USA?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mark.
