Basically this guy is being told to remove his custom ROMs and tell the lawyer where others can be found. If HTC is going on a witch hunt we need to help out devs over there. Those of you with twitters there are links at the end please let's put some pressure on these guys for answers.

Guys the point of this was to get people to put some pressure on HTC by contacting them for answers both over the twitter links at the bottom or by email if this is going how it sounds its not just on HTC users but everybody to let them know we won't stand for it.

Still dont see the point of this. If HTC has built and developed the Sense UI, which they own. How are they not in their own to protect their own product? I am not saying I agree with HTC. But they will just blow off any remarks or such left for them in their twitter feed.

If there is a larger volume of people on them about this it may at least get then to give us a response as to why and possibly cause them to back off. They are playing a strange hand that I think its in everyone's best interest all over who care about development to watch this and fight it as it won't only affect HTC it could go further.

This isn't about aosp that's clear because the OEMS are obligated to release their kernel source and Google has no issues with their ROMs.
But this could affect Sony, Samsung, lg, and anyone else after they see we can be pushed over so easily their generosity may come to a screeching halt. People like mohan and seanz could end up on the receiving end of lawsuits if this slides. Our options for roms other than aosp could become stock only. I know you guys aren't so short sighted to think this couldn't affect us in detrimental ways.

So yes another one of these threads. I'm not bashing on the g2x at all it is a great phone... However since I upgraded to it and had hardware issues software issues even after the gb update I did what any upset customer would do. Called tmobile and complained then filed a bbb complaint after recieving 4 replacement phones. They then responded by offering me the sensation. YES it was worth it. This phone imo is truely better it functions flawlessly no lag no dropped signal no WiFi issues and great data connections.
So if any of you are in the process of deciding to keep or swap. Take my word for it and just get rid of your headache and get the sensation. It's 100% worth it.
Best decision made so far regarding phones.
And yes I know this is one giant run-on my phone typing and grammar skills with autocorrect and the new keyboard is a little shakey.

Be happy we're getting ICS. This is a year and a half old phone.
The only reason apple updates for so long is because it has literally like 6 devices to update. HTC has like 30+, all with diffrerent RIL, screen sizes, ram, processors, and carriers.
The CyanoogenMod developers don't work for you, don't expect anything from them.

Android 4.1 is a stupid simple update from ICS. It isn't all that different and a lot of stuff will carry over. The developer's well get 4.1 running as soon as they can, if they can. The reason we don't have ICS is because we don't have a RIL yet. That should come with the first ICS leak.
If Apple's release schedule is superior then I think it's time for you to go buy an iPhone. The dev's are already pretty stressed out about this, and they do all their work for free. You honestly don't have the right to demand anything.
If you want the latest updates immediately after they come out, you should have bought a Nexus device.
Also, Cyanogenmod isn't the only AOSP build out there, and there are many better ones. I'd research into most of them, since the active CM developers for the Tbolt are working with 7, not 9(which is ICS based) it could be a while.
I also hope that your american comment was not serious, but it doesn't matter. The damage is done. Attitudes like that are the reason that a lot of other nations look down on the US and consider the citizen's ignorant and stupid.

what i am saying is that it is stupid how long it takes from the time google/moto releases the code to it gets to us on our phones. Even the sprint nexus s took over 6 months to get out.... why cant it be quick like apple is all i am saying since they too have many devices to support fromt he 3gs, 4, 4s and soon the 5.
and when the world has a problem who do they call? THE USA! True Power is not given... It is TAKEN.... J.R. Ewing
The thunderbolt is an older device now, it has a single core CPU and there are now phones that are quadcore with better screens and hardware. If you don't like the selection of roms our developers have made available to us, like you said, you're an American, you have the free choice to get another phone or learn to port jellybean to the bolt yourself.

We wont see an official release of that and the only way we will is through development. Im honestly surprised that the phone manufacturers are even updating the thunderbolt and some of the others to ics. People aren't going to go out and buy a thunderbolt because it has ics. Theyre going to buy the new badass phone with a gazillion freaking cores in it that all dont even operate most of the time.

Then you should ask them. And couple people isn't everyone.
The main reason is: most users if they don't buy the iPhone they'll go for sammy because of the brand. You don't know much about a smartphone but you at least know they make good tv's, computers, refrigerators, you name it. Where else do you see the HTC logo? Many people didn't hear about it. So, obviously pick the Samsung instead.

What is the big deal about which smartphone you use? I would bet that most people on XDA are pretty well clued up about phone tech and so, money permitting, they will make an informed purchase, buying the phone that suits them best.
I own the SGS3 and yeah, I think it is top notch handset, but that doesn't mean I diss other handsets. I like to think I'm more evolved than that (though some of my pals would dispute that :laugh. If someone comes to me for smartphone buying advice, I will try my best to give an informed opinion based on my experience and their tech knowledge and needs...and quite often I'd send them down the iPhone route, not because I think it is a better phone (though Apple, whether you like it or not, make fantastic hardware, just a shame about the company ethos), but because it is probably the best phone for them.
Most on this particular thread will probably own an HTC...again good top noth handsets, but I personally avoid them due to a very bad customer service experience a couple of years ago (threads can be found elsewhere), but that doesn't stop me recommending them to others (though I do also relate my experiences). And many others on XDA will own a whole variety of other smartphones.
The point is, does it matter which phone you own? Yes, some people will spend a fortune on a top end handset just for bragging rights, but there's nothing worse than a 'phone snob'. Most of us on XDA buy what is best for us and are generally happy and if we're not, we switch.
You pays your (hard earned) cash and makes your (well informed) choice. Enjoy what you have, worry not what other think about it and be proud that you are part of XDA and have the knowledge to tinker with and give advice about your techie toys. Just don't get caught up in a 'mine's better than yours' debate.
Happy tinkering folks!

Many base their ROMs off of theirs.
Either way, it won't stop us from developing our own.
I just thought this was a stupid move by HTC.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
So they took their ball and went home big deal. Guess they got tired of amateur developers showing them how their crap should work. Maybe they should wake up and hire some of these devs so their product gets better and they have a happy client base.
Why they so worried about their ruu in the first place? After all they made their money on the selling of the phone. Not like they sell updates to customers. I am shocked apple doesn't do this LOL.
Yeah we will still get our roms from our wonderful devs.

So they took their ball and went home big deal. Guess they got tired of amateur developers showing them how their crap should work. Maybe they should wake up and hire some of these devs so their product gets better and they have a happy client base.
