Galaxy Note 8 coming for Rs 16,200? - General Questions and Answers

The bigger Note is to be unveiled during Mobile World congress 2013.
Believe it or not, Samsung's 8 inch screen bearing Galaxy Note 8 is all set to be launched for a mere Rs 16,200.
Well, the Digitimes has reported that the Android tablet will be launched around $249 to $299 price bracket which in Indian rupees turns out to be Rs 13,403-Rs 16,200. Of course, there will be a host of taxes and duties that may push the price of Galaxy Note 8 to about Rs 25,000 or even more, putting it directly in competition with the Apple iPad Mini which is currently selling in India for Rs 22,000.
Earlier, Samsung's mobile division head, JK Shin confirmed that the company will launch the 8 inch display bearing Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 at the Mobile World Congress 2013. Read full article here:

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 now available for pre-order, $200 down and $21 a month

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 pre-order
True to T-Mobile’s press release that was sent out a few days ago, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is now officially up for pre-order online. The latest Samsung’s phablet (hey, the word is in the dictionary now), the leather-bound Note 3 will set customers back a cool $200 initially, with $21 monthly payments spanning across 24 months. Of course, you could always just scrounge up some change from your couch cushions and pay the full $704 straight up, but you’ll need to do a lot of digging.
Keep in mind that this is an actual honest to goodness pre-order, not some kind of generic signup page. This means you’ll be paying for the phone right now, while T-Mobile’s official release date for the Note 3 is currently set for Wednesday, October 2nd. Something tells me this is going to be one of their bigger releases, so you might want to get the jump ahead of time.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs
Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor
5.7-inch display Super AMOLED 1080p display
3GB of RAM
32GB internal storage (with micro SD card slot)
3,200mAh battery
13MP/2MP cameras (4K video recording)
NFC
WiFi Calling
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
International frequency bands
For those looking for additional info on the Note 3, head on over to our Galaxy Note 3 forums where future owners like yourself are already sharing new Note 3 cases, talking about lack of 64GB option on Verizon, and even camera comparisons with the Samsung Galaxy S4. Good stuff.

I already pre-ordered, but lools like you will get your hands on it before the people who pre-ordered. I don't even know why it is called pre-order if there is no benefits to it!

Yeah. I learned my lesson from previous devices with T-mobile. It's pretty much always better to just wait at the store. Unless you're getting an iPhone. The wait at the store is not really that bad considering how many locations there are. Also because there are so many android devices to choose from, the demand for any particular launch is not nearly as crazy as an iPhone release.
Only anandtech have 1 line and dare to say in them review that this phone is Region lock. It is not the sim lock. it is region lock.
the other website is not mention it at all.
I do not know that they not aware of this problem(Maybe they get the box without the sticker.) or they just avoid to mention it.
iPhonearena has given a strange review once again.
Thank god for Engadget's review of this device
Per Engadget:
The benefit of the newer connector is that it improves the effective / usable data rate from around 280 Mbps to 4 Gbps.
Good news if you like to move big chunks of data around this way, but we're not sure if the benefit offsets the somewhat uglier connection

Who in their right mind judges the functionality of something this significant based on looks?
How is this person still employed as a reviewer...

Good catch. That's moronic. A lot of the reviewers on the major sites shouldn't be employed, unfortunately.

From all I've seen the pre-order is good for only 1 circumstance. If there are a limited number of shops expecting the phone in your area, with a very small number of phones coming to each, and a very high demand expected, then a preorder would get you a phone shipped for a slower but more certain delivery.
They never said the preorder was for early release, that was an assumption/wish on the part of impatient buyers.
I called 2 t-mobile stores last night to verify stocks. They wouldn't say how many phones they have on hand, but one clerk said "Plenty, you don't need to hurry in". At the other store the clerk said I should be there when they open. That store is known to get fewer handsets in stock, but some have suggested they just want credit for the sale on their early shift.

Too bad some of the American tech review sites are heavily biased toward Apple products against other non-American companies. See The Verge reviews for Note 3, Xperia Z1 and LG G2 and compare them to their reviews for IPhone 5S/5C for example. They are so biased it's not even funny.
It is urgently needed a scientific degree for some of the reviewers. There are too many stupid arguments and contradictions in their reviews.

LOL agreed!
finally a site that acknowledges just how much you get more value for your money when compared to a phone like the 5s (well most of that knew that already i guess)
http://www.sacbee.com/2013/10/01/5784310/techinsights-stacks-apple-iphone.html
Both devices are LTE based smartphones and both are available on a two year contract for $299.991 or without contract for $799.992, but that is where the similarities end.
TechInsights' cost estimates place the 32 GB version of the iPhone 5s at $200 to make vs. the 32 GB Samsung Galaxy Note 3 at $237.50. So, which device would be the better buy for the customer? Clearly Samsung is placing more money into the Galaxy Note 3, but what does the customer get for that money?
Let's compare costs by function:
Display: The iPhone 5s is an evolution of the iPhone 5 and sports a 4 inch IPS TFT display with 1136 x 640 pixels. In contrast the Galaxy Note 3 contains a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display with 1920 x 1080 full HD display. The Galaxy Note 3 display is bigger, sports a brighter display based on AMOLED technology and is full HD. Likewise, the cost of the Galaxy Note 3 display/touch system is approximately $32 more than that of the iPhone 5s.
Battery: The battery pack in the Note 3 is over twice the capacity of the iPhone 5s. One would expect the Galaxy Note 3 would handily outperform the iPhone 5s with battery life, but based on power consumption, that may not be the case. At any rate, the cost of the battery pack is about double that of the iPhone 5s.
Camera: The Galaxy Note 3 packs more megapixels in their cameras, but the iPhone 5s has focused their attention on things like low light conditions and increasing software augmented camera features, such as slow motion. Given the different focuses, we believe the camera costs are a wash.
Processor The Galaxy Note 3 uses a 2.3 GHz quad-core, 32 bit ARMv7 processor compared to a 1.3 GHz dual-core, 64 bit ARMv8 processor in the iPhone 5s. The Galaxy Note 3 wins the race for pure horsepower and it does so while saving about $12.50 compared to the iPhone 5s.
Overall, Samsung has delivered superior value with the features that are most important to the customer – better display and a faster processor.

Absolutely, some of the sites are sponsored by Apple to give a less than favorable review like The Verge. Furthermore, it's reviewed by an iPhone owning d-bag and one of the cons he listed is the device is too big. Reality is about 80% of the world think the iPhone is too small.
camera shootout .. I haven't seen this one posted here yet

they are approx. Prices..
I added 500 to 1000 Rs. variation becoz of inflation in Indian rupees to American dollars..
My guess is it's gonna cost around 20K INR for sure .
It been a tradition to hike the prices of mid-range phones in Indian market than other markets....
The legendary Nexus devices which Google subsidizes also costs much more here ...
Nexus 4 still costs around 24k here ...
Nexus 5 launched at 29K (almost 5K more than rest markets) .
The Xperia C was rumored to be around 12-15 K (as in other markets), but Sony launched it at 20K Tag .
So I wouldn't be surprised to find Moto G 16 GB version to cost around 20K here in India .
Also it's gonna be Dual sim version that will be released here .
But I think it's still worth it , because it will get Kitkat and has a vanilla android experience !
Moto G 8gb
Hope they launch at a price tag of 12-13K , would be a good Side kick to my nexus 5 :fingers-crossed:
But how about buying abroad and bringing it inhere..?? I knw its a big deal for these range. I hope i could afford one..
8gb - 12 k, 16 gb 15k
Yes, we are getting it on January 2014 and it will cost 12 K rs for 8 gb and 15 k rs for 16 gb. to compete Samsung and other low cost mobile companies.
It wont meet half its projections if it gets anywhere above the 15-16k mark. Thats the market value of budget smartphones in here.
Motorola said in the release that Moto G will come at 1/3 Price of the High-End Devices like Note 3, S4 and iPhone 5s .
They all almost cost at round 50k so doing the Math (tax incl). Moto G will range from 18K to 22k (18k for 8gig ,20k for 16 gig,22k for Dual SIM 16 gig,20k for Dual SIM 8gig)

thats too high... for what they are offering even they know that they have to at least match the quotes of local players like micromax even if they cant go below there prices...
expect 13k-14k... thats the sweet spot ... anything below this will be a killer sale for moto... anything higher they'll loose half the customers..
Yep bro... will dual sim add another feature.?? Like-SD slot..
20 k is more.. I will give up buying if it prices more than 16k..
Greedy
MMX can prize there phone well because there profits are in Rs. They import Chipsets from Mediatek and make phone here (I think). They have to pay less tax than international flagships.
Moto will not prize it at 13k-14k because of it's specs ( it has the best ppi display,Qualcom Snapdragon 400 & 1 gig of ram,water-resistant nano-coating on the inside and outside,Gorrila glass).
Phones at this prize range rarely has Qualcom and this good specs.
If Moto lowers it's profit margin for India (which it will not I think) then it is possible for the price range to be between 14k-20k for various models (8gig,16gig,Dual sim 8 & 16gig)
Conclusion:Moto is not a new brand and not to forget Moto is the inverter of Mobile phone and Owned by Google so it won't lower it's status with launch price to be this low.I would be more than happy if the prize is 13k-14k but I don't think it will happen.

valid reasoning my friend but lets not forget that the higher the price more likely that we'll prefer to pay a little more and go for nexus 4 or nexus 5... Nexus 4 is still a cheap alternative which is still a kick ass phone..

That's true people will buy Nexus 4 or Sony Xperia SP. In India, phones are not really Value for Money compared to other nation and the Credit for this goes to INR vs USD and Indian Government for heavy taxing even to local manufactures like MMX.If Govt. gives subsidies to MMX and other Indian makers , they will out-grow with best specs and price to the International Flagships.
i'd like to see these companies setup manufacturing in inda.. give these companies tax benifits .. and they in turn will drive our ecnomy and create jobs.. and we can enjoy cheap phones... win win win..
Well I was following news one day, they were showing Narendra Modi's speech, the point that caught my attention was "Mobiles". He said that making mobiles is not rocket science , even then 90% of the market is of foreign company. With help from Government , India can make phone and not only make but Export them too.
I think he is unaware but MMX is exporting it's phones to UAE,etc. I know how Indian Politicians are, so not confident but if NaMo becomes PM we may have many cheap phone

The versions are:

Wow thats great...
Thanks dude.. can you tell me the 16Gb variants price

Samsung tab 3 8.0 or Samsung note 8?

Hello i guys i wanna buy a tablet for web browsing, listen music, youtube, emails and im between those two tablets ,they have 50euros different in my country and i'm think what to buy... i heard the tab 3 has better battery life and i really appriciate lonng battery life.Thank you for listening and hope you share your wisdom
I would find a store where I could compare them side by side.
I have the Tab 3 8.0 and it is a fine tablet. It does everything that you stated you like to do, and it does it well. The build quality is great...much better than the Nexus 7 I owned.
But like everything else, everyone has their own opinions and those opinions will vary greatly. You will have to decide for yourself.

so should i wait a bit for the tab4 to come out? . I'm more curious for battery life, how much battery life you got from tab3?
I also was choosing between the same two models a short time ago, and went with the tab 3 8.0. I would say for what you want to do with it go for the tab 3. I am very pleased with mine, and have even installed some very graphic intensive games and it handles them with no problem at all. And the battery life is great(not as much so while playing those high graphic games).
With the screen at about 30% brightness I have been getting almost an hour of screen time per 10% battery, while web surfing and email and the sutch.

If I had to choose between the two, the Note 8 all the way, no questions. The Tab 3 8 even though it came out in 2013 has a CPU that is already 3 1/2 years old. Do you absolutely need too go with Samsng , have you looked at the LG G Pad, you can buy them now for 275 dollars, it has 2GB of RAM, 1080P resolution, Qualcomm 600 CPU and has Gorilla Glass 3, where as the Tab 3 8 has nothing and the Note 8 has the first generation. Just an idea, its your money, but I would defiantly choose the Note 8. A much nicer tablet in almost every way. I would also check out the EVGA Note 7, it also has an active digitizer pen, a Nvidia Tegra 4 CPU that lays waste to both the the Tab 3 8 and Note 8, built in HDMI, doesn't have the bloated TouchWiz that takes up 700MB of system memory and is probably the laggiest Android version on the market today, plus it will get updates much, much faster as they come direct from Nvidia, draw back is its only 7 inches.
I would maybe even think about waiting a little, save up some cash and buy the Samsung Pro 8.3, their dropping in price pretty fast and is probably one of the best 8 inch Android tablets on the market today.
Though between you and me, dump the idea of buying an Andoid tablet all together and buy a Dell Venue 8 Pro Windows 8 tablet. Only 250 dollars, have gotten incredible reviews from every tech site and magazine out their, 2GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB storage, USB 3 through OTG, Miracast, active digitizer, much, much better multitasking through multiple windows, can display a movie on your TV and still use the tablet, if you still want Android, developers are working on a dual boot option so you will have the best of both worlds.
Just check out some of the reviews yourself, Arstechnica has a really good article on the Venue 8 Pro.

Thank you mate for the message really really helpful .The note 8 cost 220 euros in my country the pro 8.4 300euros and the lg g pad 270. I was thinking the GPad but the I read that the battery go for 4-5 hours the most and I was kinda disappoint. then I thought for 8.4 but it's kinda expensive right now for an android tablet. Do you think I should go with the note 8 for 220euros or with gpad or wait for 8.4 price go down?

Which country are you in, I'm in Switzerland and I know of a few really great shops that ship pretty much everywhere except the UK. If you absolutely need a tablet now I would go for the LG G Pad, the battery life is really not much different than the Note 8. The Google Play Edition model is defiantly the one I would go for as you will get frequent updates. You will absolutely love the 1080P resolution over the anemic 720P of the Note 8 and the Qualcomm 600 CPU found inside is extremely fast. It all depends if you need a tablet now though.

Check out digitec.ch, it's in German but you can use a translator, their selling the LG for 250CH (205 EUR) for that price you can't go wrong.

Which country are you in, I'm in Switzerland and I know of a few really great shops that ship pretty much everywhere except the UK. If you absolutely need a tablet now I would go for the LG G Pad, the battery life is really not much different than the Note 8. I live in Greece and from what i saw today the LG gpad cost like 270 EUROS and we don't have here the playstore edition only the lg edition and the tab 8.4 pro cost like 300 EUROS . Thought the note 8 battery is much better than the gpad but if they are equal i see your point

I guess.. but the Tab 4 is quad core. but other than that, i wouldn't upgrade. But if I didn't have one yet, I would get the Tab 4.

I wouldn't, in fact I would stay as far as way from the Samsung Tab line of mid-tier tablets as possible. Their just not worth it, the previous model, the Tab 3 had a Exynos 4212, the Exynos 4210 was showcased in November of 2010 and then released in Q1 of 2011 with the Tab 7.7. The two models have almost identical performance models. The Tab 4 follows the same line of thinking by inserting the bare minium of what the current market will except. There is absolutly nothing, nothing, that makes the Tab 4 8 a tablet that one would want to own when compared to others. TouchWiz now takes up an abysimal 800MB of memory so the 1.5GB of RAM is halved for for apps, there is no Gorilla Glass, Samsung claims that their alternative is just as good but experience with these tablets suggest otherwise, the SnapDragon 5 CPU is no match for their other budget friendly models like the 600 which can found in the LG G Pad. Resolution is an appaling 1280 x 800, when every other Android Tablet manufacture is making their 8" models with at least a 1080P panel. Samsung finially dropped the price of the Tab 8 to a managable level, the previuos model was just so outrageously exspensive for the level of hardware that was offered. I still wouldn't buy one though, at any price, your compromising just to much to save a few bucks. Save your money and when you have enough buy an LG G Pad, Kindle HDX 8.9, the Samung Pro 8.4, upcoming Nexus 8, Dell Venue 8 Pro, Lenovo ThinkPad 8, Asus Vivo 8, etc. Just don't paint your self into a corner by buying the absolute bare minium like a Tab 4 8, or any other Tab 4 model. This is a perfect example of Samsung's logic, right now on Amazon, the Tab 4 10.1 is listed for 320 dollars where as the Tab Pro is 400, an 80 dollar difference, you would have to be a complete idiot not to go with the Pro. Who put's a 720P in a 10.1 inch display nowadays, in a 8" was hard enough top swallow.

I will give a small review of my GPAD just to share my experience. I paid 240euros for this with a case with it lets go
9/10Screen:amazing colors and the best screen it terms of size I have work on,much better than nexus 7
9/10Build:reminds me iPad mini with a Samsung touch on it kinda stand in the middle
7/10Battery: not great not bad gives me like 7-8 hours on screen I'm ok with it
8/10Sound: the sound and the speakers are very loud
Overall I give it a 8.5/10 it's the most cool looking tablet I see,so fast in browsing or play 3d games ,I use it everyday and I haven't open my laptop the last 2 days. I wish u bought this before nexus 7 2013 ,between those GPad is miles away.

Great news I knew you would like it. The design is pretty cool, love the metal backing with the white body, very modern looking. Nothing beats the Qualcomm CPU's in an Android tablet, especially the 600 and 800 series. The Tab 3 8 just doesn't compare and I didn't want you making a mistake by buying one. I know the fellows here swear by them but for the price and the massive difference in speed and specs the LG is just a better buy all way around. It's such a neat feeling when you have so much power in such a small device. There isn't a game in the Play Store that the LG can't run like butter. You should also really think about buying a Miracast dongle or box for your TV, playing games and watching Movies or TV through the LG connected to a 1080P TV or monitor is simply fantastic. I recommend you installing ES File Manager, it's one of the best file managers around, it allows you to access all of you Cloud storage, local servers and other computers on your network from one app, it also contains a built in unzip and unrar function.
Anyway I'm glad you like it, check out the LG G Pad forum here, unlike the Tab 3 forum the LG G Pad Forum is very active and they have tons of custom ROMS, developers love the LG and it shows by the amount of ROMS available.

I was thinking too for the tab pro 8.4 but it was 60 euros more and the first models of the line always has some bugs or problems that the second lines doesn't so I had to wait for the seconds lines to come out. Plus I heard the battery is not strong at all so I pick the cheaper Gpad
