So the other day I installed JB 4.2 by Team EOS build #92 w/ KatKernel 80b, and I'm loving it so far. Although I have a couple of minor aesthetic issues.
I can't seem to figure out how to reduce (or edit at all) the number of home screens.
I also can't remove the Google Search bar from the top middle of the home screen.
If anyone knows how to solve either of these, it would be much appreciated
Try a different launcher.
The stock launcher does not have options to remove or edit these.
My favorite is Apex at the moment.

Hmm... I'll have to look into that. Where do you get new launchers? On the Google Play store? Thanks for the replies

Yup, just search for Launcher in the play store. Apex, Nova and Go Launcher are 3 of the most popular lately

When I had my adp1 we had advanced launcher which gave me the ability to hide certain apps so they wouldn't show up in the drawer. I hate having font packs and the like appear in my app drawer. I also hate having redundant apps (desktop shortcut plus being in the app drawer)
Is there anything like advanced launcher out there for sense?
I remove the apk's from /system/apps. That will completely remove the app from your phone (so don't do it to apps you want to keep on your home screen) but seems to work well for sprint/htc's crapware.
You can hide them in LauncherPro.

Ill probably get flamed for this, but I'm partial to the sense launcher. I don't much care for the aftermarket launchers. In afraid though, that I'm bit going to have a choice

Sorry for the diversion
What software were you running on your adp?
I wonder if there's anything in the engineering pc36img.zip that would help..
Advanced Launcher was Sense?

On my adp1 it was typically an add on that required you to flash it over your rom or theme.
Just wondering, but why do you like Rosie more than LaucherPro? Please don't say "widgets" because there are equivalent widgets in LauncherPro Plus that are idential to those by HTC, and there are a ton in the Market with identical functionality.
I honestly like the way sense looks.
I tried searching for this and didn't find it, and I'm really curious about it.
Is it possible for the swipe left to google now (which looks incredibly smooth in the KitKat videos) to be implemented into launchers such as nova and apex? Or is that going to be a stock launcher only thing?
Just to clarify, I'm asking if a future version of Nova/apex will be able to copycat this design, not just implement another gesture that opens the google now app. The beauty of these launchers now is that they appear very similar to aosp, but they have many more features. Will that no longer be possible after this change?
Nova (paid) already has gestures that you can set to launch any app. There are 9 gestures although swipe left isn't one of them - not that it matters

Right, I guess that is one option, but it is more jarring to switch to a totally different app than the swipe gesture that it looks like KItKat has. That seem so fluid, almost like it's just another home screen.

From what I was reading, I believe that in 4.4 it actually IS another screen. I mean it's not just that the app is hidden in the background and uncovered by a gesture, it is an option to have google now to take up a page in the layout.

Nova right now cant do anything like the google launcher for kk. When you swipe right there is an actual google now home page.

i really hope that nova will implement this and all the other cool stuff from the new kk launcher... something like a more customizable stock launcher
The google launcher is basically an extension of the Google search app. Kind of like Facebook home. I doubt nova will be able to integrate this unless the build it themselves into nova. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...e-kitkats-primary-interface-is-google-search/

I suppose an app like GMD gestures could help you achieve the same effect

I think it would be cool if you can swipe left to any app of your choice, even if the app has to go on pause.

Remove what? The launcher? You can just install Apex launcher and use that instead if you wanted. If you really wanted to remove it you will need to uninstall it through titanium backup, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Which Launcher do you use with Google Pixel?
Nova launcher (Prime) for me. Love the customisation options.
Nova Prime
Nova prime
Nova Prime. I think I can say that everyone recommends that so far.
Apex ?
Was on Apex since the GS2 days but switched to Nova prime cause Apex was show with the 7.0 OS updates. Glad I made the move and haven't looked back
Stock
I am loving Google's Pixel launcher. I've been a Nova user for YEARS but I haven't missed it yet. Nice job, Google!
Nova Prime
Smart launcher Pro and Action Launcher.
Pixel launcher for me. I'm trying to just use installed apps as much as possible. I just wish that Google would add app drawer folders and how to hide apps too. I dont really want to root any more so if anyone knows if the pixel launcher can be amended to add these features please let me know.

If you install another launcher (like nova) you can copy every single feature of the stock launcher and you don't need root. I did this when I bought Pixel.

Can't swipe from the left to get Google Now page. Nova doesn't support left or right swipe.
Also a lot of things you may want such as folders in the app drawer are only available in the paid (Prime) version of Nova

Just installed the new P release and after switching to Nova launcher notice that the new recent management feature is not there. Odd. Is there a way to add the new style to Nova or do we have to wait for developer to do so?

Do not disable the OOS launcher
I tried that but then it shows both recents app managers....
So, freezing the OP launcher brings back the previous Oreo style recent apps view... trying... it does [emoji2]
Not sure what the fascination with Nova is. Lawnchair, Action Launcher & the OnePlus launcher are all as good or better if you're looking for an AOSP feel.
Personally I just use the OnePlus launcher, and sometimes Lawnchair.
Well, that's why there are many launchers... one uses the one with the features one wants and needs.. Nova does a great job for me.

The customisation in Nova Launcher, gestures, swipe etc is not fully present in the other launchers you mention, and as for ASOP "feel" you can make Nove look however you like.
I like the stock OnePlus launcher but looking for suggestions for other launchers. I'm not crazy about the OnePlus Shelf and miss my Google feed on the side (though other suggestions are ok too).
install pixel launcher if you want the google feed on the left back
You can also installed Nova launcher with Nova companion to get the Google feed on the side.
Hyperion Launcher seems to work well
Lawnchair V2, basically a port of the pixel launcher with a ton of features.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/deletescape/lawnchair/
Nova launcher with google companion!
Nova, it's the only option. It does and had everything.
Nova Prime...
ADW. I switched to this from Nova years ago and will never go back.
Nova FTW
Nova is and has been the best for years...just get it and support it with Nova prime.
If you want simplicity and awesome performance, get the previously mentioned Lawnchair v2 from APK Mirror. If you want features, you can't beat Nova. I switch between them often.
I love Action Launcher too, my only issue is that it lost some of its uniqueness as it's matured but it has some cool features. I also really respect the dev.
I am using CPL (custom pixel launcher). Nova launcher > Eevie > then this and stuck with it, pretty happy with the minimalist look. Has enough things to tweak I still haven't tried everything
