Hello
When I was stock, I had the option to use carrier billing as a method of payment in the play store. Now that I've unrooted my device and began flashing ROMs, I notice that none of the ROMs are able to use carrier billing.. is there a way to get this back?
Thanks
Zealex
I am on a Verizon GS3 as well and have flashed many roms so far and always had Carrier billing as an option in the Google Play store. Have you checked to see if you are running the latest version of the play store? Maybe Google "most recent Google play store apk", make sure your phone allows downloads from unknown sources, download and see if that helps.

Hmm that's odd. I wasn't sure if I was the only one, and there wasn't much information about it but it seems that maybe it isn't a rom issue huh.
What ROM are you currently on btw?
I'll try that, I'm flashing a new ROM right now though =P
thanks for the reply.

I could be wrong but if im not mistaken verizon had that featured pulled... initially they opted into a carrier billing, and then they decided to opt out. Unless you have the playstore version that included carrier billing you wont have that feature anymore. If you find it doesnt work i can backup and post the version of playstore i have.......which does included carrier billing.

Why the heck would they remove that? Well it's Verizon >_<..
I wish I would of thought to have packed up the original play store app before I flashed from rooted stock, oh well. I would really appreciate if you could that though, it would be a great help !

Hi, if you still have that version of the Google Play that allows for carrier billing, or know of the version that works with it, could you please uppload it somewhere for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar issues. Verizon still offers the service, what i did to fix the issue was run Market Enabler and "fake" the US Verizon version of the market. After this I went into the market and the option was available again.
Carrier billing still there for me I'm on clean Rom 5.0 with the inverted market.
stripped down rebuild with clean Rom/Gunther/camblued modds!!!

Hmm, weird. I can download it off the market on my N1 just fine.
Lemme know if that link the other gentleman provided doesn't work, ill try to up it to my DropBox.
google is aware of the problem. its only the att versions that are having issues seeing all of the apps in the market
Isn't ATT 'controlling' certain things about the market? Maybe that's why it's not showing on your ATT N1?
i think they may be because i read somewhere that if i put a t mobile sim in the phone i wouldnt have a problem. hell i dunno.
I don't have these issues with my N1 on ATT. *shrug*
having the same problem with ATT N1 missing Market apps. Attached is a newer version of Where app, 1.88, i think. 1.90 is newest, but can't grab. would appreciate if someone could UL the latest.
I emailed with Tech Support at Where. They said there was a contract issue with AT&T. Appears that if you want where, you have to pay AT&T each month and have one of the approved where handsets.
Could someone that has access to a newer version of Where 1.9 post either a download link or attach the file here in the forum.
We ATT folks would much appreciate it.
Thank you

Do you have a specfic source since I see you are on ATT as well?
Well, screw ATT. I was looking for an app like this just yesterday and nothing looked good so I decided to stick to google maps. Are there any other known apps that ATT is screwing us on?

Thank You Very Much! For Some Reason My Boost Mobile Motorola i1 can't access some of these apps on the Market. My assumptions it's because it runing on Android 1.5. Hopefully they will release an update soon considering 3.0 is rumored to be released soon.

Thanks. There is a new version out. Can you please share it too?
You guys really find the app that useful?
The only useful stuff I found it did, Google local search already does.
Any who, here is Where 1.9.6
Where is the only app I've seen that gives a decent listing of gas prices nearby, anyone have any better suggestions?
I'd be happy to take back the 5-6M of storage it takes up..... Yikes.
Zipcar
It is also the only zipcar app for android.
If you use AppBrain and the new fast web install they have, you can install it from the AppBrain website. It still won't show up in the market for updates, but you can probably get it updated the same way.
anyone know where i can find this app.. its no longer on the market
have you tried applanet or other markets? or you could try to find the .apk online
if it doesn't show up in your market, it isn't available for your region or unsupported for your phone. but it could work
i believe t-mobile v-voicemail was only available in the US.

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Log in your account on Tmo site and enable visual voicemail for free on your account.
Did that a long time ago I had it for ever and like a retard I formatted my sd card when I flashed a new rom and trash so much for backing it up with titanium

this is the one from CR_OTA 1.35 rom and i dont know if it will work for you on other rom, is signed so try pushing it to system/app if it fails to install normally.
^^^ thanks
on rootwikiz it says its fully functional on the ics leak. when i open it it says unsupported on my carrier (att) what gives
ATT is going to have to give us proper SIM cards that support it.

hey i can want cant I haha
I wish people would read. But I'll post again here. WE STILL NEED A SECURE ELIMENT! Unless Google (or a 3rd party) includes a TSM that routes private (account) information to the SIM or SD Card, we will not have Google wallet. regardless if the market says it is compatible or not. I do not know for sure if this build of ICS includes such a TSM but i doubt it because it is usually provided via 3rd party app. And even if it did, the Google Wallet app would have to be updated (or modified) to allow it. Right now, Google only uses Hardware secure eliments. SO until somebody actually uses Google Wallet on a SkyRocket to pay for a Big Mac, I don't think the poeple that claim it works know what they are talking about. Please...prove me wrong.

Haha, just saying. There will probably be a cwm flashable already rooted zip by this afternoon and sweet roms soon to follow with everything working.

Still not available for Verizon. But, Google Wallet no longer stores the information in the secure element of the physical phone, but stores it on their servers instead.
Also, it's now available for most credit cards.
Is this going to make it easier for someone to hack it on to our Verizon phones?
Can anyone get a copy of the .apk and see what happens if you just try to sideload?
It gives the usual "blah blah google wallet is not yet supported on your network" its really sad that verizon can block it.
I downloaded the updated google wallet from the play store on my Verizon GS3 and it still says "Unfortunately, Google Wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network."
I haven't tried the original google wallet trick but I wonder if that could work with the new update.
If Verizon is going to block it, fine, but at least have a solution for us. I don't really care what payment provider gets the money. I just want to be able to use my phone to make purchases.
Do a little research. I have the verizon sgs3 and was able to get google wallet working.

So you are confirming that the previous method works with the new Google Wallet app released today?
Did you even read this thread? Google Wallet was completely revamped today.

Most likely not. I'm sure he's a tool referring to the non-updated GW and making snark tough guy remarks while simultaneously not reading.
I have a guide I made to get the latest one to work.

His guide works great, even to update if you already have used Modaco's file to install originally.

Just saying to others, my guide DOES work. If you did something else to use wallet and claim afterwards its broken. Not on me. I have heard from others that updating works too. So this is a confirmed addition to my guide.
I don't know much about Nfc stuff but think I want to setup Google wallet. Is there a apk file we can run or a zip to flash to get Google wallet? Or is it even a app like I side I don't know a lot about it.

No APK that I know of. It's actually a really easy fix though. I was a little uneasy doing it but once I went through the process it was easy.
I did the wallet fix yesterday and I had lunch at McDonalds thanks to Google. Read the post and follow the directions as described. Good luck!
Awesome... Thanks guys

Wallet problem
Greetings everyone!
A little background first. Verizon SGS3, rooted and unlocked, but still on stock TW.
I completed the steps in the above mentioned thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083, and everything seems to be working ok. I have made a few purchases and it works, however I am thinking something is wrong.
Let me explain. When I go to make a purchase, it will make the POS machine flash/beep, etc., but then shows on my screen that the trans. may not be good/complete. The cashier continues the sale like normal, the receipt prints and all is good, but it just takes a min standing in line to make sure that all is well. Then after a while, the trans will show up in Wallet (on the phone) in the list.
Is this normal for you all?
Second thing is that I can't see my Google PrePay card in the online Wallet page. I can see the other cards that I have added in both places, phone and online, but I can't manage the new card that was given when I signed up. Therefore, I am stuck adding funds on the phone.
Should I do a reset? Will this lose the $ that I have added to the PrePay card, or will it magically pick it back up when I re-setup Wallet on the phone? I have read that I need to write down the card number (user ID) in case you need it, and I assume that this is one of those times.
Any ideas?
TIA for the help.
I'm not seeing it either unfortunately. I was just getting ready to try the workaround & then saw your post. Oh well, guess I'll still try the workaround.
Is it possibly just a regional thing? I read somewhere that they were getting ready to roll out ISIS in a couple of markets soon - is it possible that they unblocked Wallet in those markets to avoid the 'how do you justify blocking wallet as a security concern if you're now allowing ISIS' question?
Dunno.

There is a post in the general area about it thats where I heard it from but here is the link. When I go to the link it knows I have it installed properly it may take a bit before our S3's see it...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel
it does say it's not available on my carrier for everything but my S3 thats where it's installed the XDA way. but thats funny because my tablet is WI-Fi only so it should be able to install it to my tab...Check the general section...
