[q] heeeeeelp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Samsung Infuse 4G

Ok so today i dropped my samsung infuse flat on the screen, when i picked it up it was cracked on the inside of the glass. Now when i tried to turn the screen on it wouldnt but the soft keys would, i could receive calls and my alarm rings, basically my phone works but the screen doesnt, also the whole right side is unresponsive only the left side works. Also when i plugged it in to hdmi view so it could hook up to my tv it worked and my phone screen was up on the tv i could see everything, but my phone screen was still black. So any ideas to fix it, or how much would it take to fix, or could i fix it myself.
Thank you,
REEVOLUTION

I tried to fix the same issue the screen was kinda expensive ( I got it from eBay) and installing it was a serious chore, its harder than I expected but there are YouTube videos that show how in the end it might be cheaper to buy a used infuse from eBay

You should search for your issue. This has been covered numerous times. You'll find where to buy, how to fix or where to send your phone.

[Q] Problem with proximity sensor???

My wife has a brand new Infuse 4g, stock rom, not rooted. Everything works fine except that every once in a while while in a call, the screen will go black (proximity sensor) but will not come back on when pulled away from her face. Even hitting the power button will not bring it up. This has happened when answering a call too. She'll accept the call, and the screen will immediately go black. It doesn't happen all the time, and appears very random. She has it in a Ballistic HC case. The problem has never occurred out of the case, but that isn't to say it won't. Any idea what the problem could be? Anyone else out there having the problem that can attribute it to the case? I'm willing to cut the screen protector out of the case (at least the part over the sensor) but don't want to if it's not the problem. Thanks in advance for any possibilities.

If she has the first gen Ballistic then she needs to return it to ATT and get a second gen case for free. They had problems with the first gen. There is a number on the edge of the case that will tell you if she needs it or not. It is very small writing and should say C-02 if it says C-01 then she has the older version case and needs the new one that says C-02. I went and got another one as i had the C-01 case and the side buttons made it do weird things. The new case works flawlessly.
I looked and it appears this one is the c-02. The Ballistic rep said they weren't experiencing problems with this. My wife cut away the clear piece that covered the proximity and light sensor and the problem is gone. I would have rather not had to go that route, but it is what it is. I'm just happy it works now.

No Screen! Cover Replacement Gone Horribly Wrong! Help/Buy/Suggestions?

SMh... broke my digitier/lcd on my One X today!
Was gonna replace my back housing because it was cracked and had scuffs to put a white one on,
but when I was doing the first step I went into the wrong slit and slid my tool in between the LCD/Digitizer!!
Only a few centimeters from the edge, guess it was enough.
Now the screen doesnt turn on AT ALL!! Phone still boots and capacitive buttons light up and vibrate
I'm not sure where to start, I hope I can get it to work still but I dont know what to try now.
Im a noob, but the only thing I can think of is to dissamble the whole phone and then
blow dry it and separate the LCD/Digitizer and put them back together after inspecting.
This happened by sliding a guitar pick in between the LCD/Digitizer.
I only went in a few centimeters from the edge until I realized I was doing something terrible wrong.
I was trying to disassemble my One X.
It still works, I plugged in MHL adapter and it works, could navigate normal, just that the LCD doesnt turn on.

A) $75+ for a new screen and attempt to fix myself?
B) Sell it for as much as I can? $220?
C) Try to get AT&T/HTC to replace it even tho I rooted 2.20?
You know how long its been since I read about a Hox issue that hasn't been posted yet???? I feel bad, that sux, it really does, but this was by far the funniest thing I've read about in a while

I did the exact same thing you did! That's why I've got two HOX now. I had to purchase the LCD/digitizer combo. All fixed now. I still have the digitizer screen on my desk. Sucks I know.

you can try that but doubt it'd fix anything. Plus the LCD and digitizer are seriously bonded together tight so it'd be hard to take it apart fully without breaking the glass. I've replaced my LCD/digitizer twice, and while it's not impossible, it's still very tedious and risky. So if your gonna do it yourself I'd suggest making sure the place you get it is atleast somewhat reputable so you don't get another faulty screen, and don't use super glue to bond the LCD to the housing! (lol that was what I did with my first screen and it destroyed the screen). And be prepared to be left with some more scuffs on your housing. Otherwise sending to HTC shouldn't be a problem, even with root I think it's fine. It's just a screen repair, its not like root could cause really screen damage. Good luck though on whatever you decide.

thanks for the reply, um do you think HTC would fix for free if I play dumb and say one day it just stopped turning on?
I've decided not to try to separate the LCD from the digitizer, way too work.
and an xda member said he'd sell me his lcd+digi for a good price but its a HTC Branded one instead of AT&T, i think it will work the same tho,
I got the HTC logo digitizer/lcd. Worked fine vs the original att one

alright good to know! I prefer it to say HTC anyhow since im not even with AT&T! Im T-mobile!
so you really did the exact same thing as me!? guitar pick in the wrong hole!?
How far did u push in and try to separate it til you noticed u messed up BIG TIME?
I was in denial for a good 10 minutes =( still kinda am... smh
I went a little farther than you and got angry though. Totally destroyed it. Lol! Couple things. Make sure you get the adhesive strips. There is a metal casing that goes around that LCD that likes to pop out if not glued properly. And I got mine from repair universe. Not perfect but pretty cheap. Only issue is captivate button lights don't transfer over, and I had to silicone the edge of the LCD to the digitizer cause it started getting dust between them. Pain to say the least. I taken these apart enough now. I'm comfortable with it.

u bought the LCD+Digitizer and the capacitive buttons still didnt turn on? Hope mine will work.
Also can u point to me which YouTube tut was the most helpful for you?
I wish there was some way to fix the LCD I have now tho, still in good condition aesthetically =(
Yeah it sucks that most newer devices really bond the LCD and digitizer tightly. Once (if) you take it apart you'll realize what we mean. Its possible but very unlikely with original screen. And taking the LCD off the housing is near impossible to do without breaking the LCD in my experience too. So make sure to get LCD+digitizer. And as far as sending it to HTC, I'm sure you could try but once they figure out what you did I'm sure they'll charge you (why wouldn't they? ). There was an amazing YouTube video made by some company (I think it was irepairfast) that I used but after many people complained about their service here on their one x, they removed it. So sorry, just look around for some good ones.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
I agree with what xaey said. Depending on the LCD/screen you get the captivate buttons may or may not have the little fiber optics on them. I just went with the cheapest one I could find cause I'm a tight [email protected]%. There are NO good videos that I could find on tear apart and none on putting it back together. Take you time and keep an inventory of what you do. I lost a screw and its still missing inside the repaired phone.

oh well it should save some power then right? im a cheap buyer too!
these tuts seem pretty good!

When replacing it, just take them optics out of the original, it has very lightly adhesive but it should come off easily and then put them on the new one if it doesn't haven't them already, it should still be a bit sticky to do so. Another problem is possible light leakage (you'll know what I mean if it happens, basically more light shines through than just on the buttons). This happened to me, which is why I don't keep my capacitive lights on. Worst part is you won't know until you turn it on unless you can connect the screen to circuit without bonding it to the housing yet.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
alright I'll try that if it doesnt come with capacitive lights. will attempt to replace it next week. I hope I can do this correctyl!!
Well put xaey. I tried to transfer those over and there was way too much light bleeding from the side and bottom. Plus they were a pain to get in there. I tore that thing apart 4 times. Lol trial and error. So I just put some sealant over the captivate area. Unfortunately that does not disable the lights to them.

Lol yeah I know what you mean. I ended up putting some black electrical tape over where the light bleeding was on mine (just under the capacitive buttons) before putting the screen in... and it didn't help much, it just looked more weird looking at it from different angles haha. So I just keep the lights off.

eww I do not want to see leakage from the bottom!
Hopefully i get lucky and only have to take apart once and be done with it!
I've only taken apart a HTC Dash a few years ago.
Excited to put my hand eye coordination to the test
smh... noticed wifi/data pins came off also so I am SOL!!
any suggestions on what and how to replace those pieces on the motherboard?
Witch ones? Data pins?

im not even sure what the term for these are, the metal on the motherboard that touches the gold areas on the back cover?
I must have pulled the phone out too rough or something but they came off the mother board.

data doesn't connect, can still call text.

[Q] Screen Replacement

I managed to break the screen on my Optimus 3d last night, not sure if it was dropped or ran over. I found it face down in my driveway this morning and to my horror when I flipped it over the screen was completely smashed, however the phone is still working fine, minus the never ending ghost call issue.
What make the situation worse is Rogers just sent me out a replacement phone yesterday and I have to send this one back, in the next couple days.
So I called a repair centre and they wanted $190 to repair the phone, and stated they would need to replace the LCD and the glass screen. I know there is nothing wrong with the LCD screen, phone functions and all colours are good, just has broken glass.
My question is, can I repair just the glass without replacing the LCD? I have found the screen for around $30 on ebay. Based on watching the how to on youtube it doesn't look like too difficult of a job.
me too i have broke my glass of my phone and they said like your prize to replace thre glass but in my country crunncy and the screen work perfectly I don't know why they want to change the screen too it's annoying

If your LCD is working you only need the digitizer replaced (phone front + touch screen) which costs you around 20/30$ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement...080?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2d78e968 .
My touchscreen was broken (randomly pressing things on the screen) and I think the 2nd hand shop I got it from only replaced the digitizer I think based on the small dust I see on my screen.
This only works if your LCD doesn't show blurry or (partially) black (damaged).

First of all , this was asked before. Read the forum. I know because i asked that question.
Check here ;

and here ;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971226
Carefully read them , especially my posts because i did it.
Where are you from and how fast can you get the replacements off ebay ?
When you get them it'll take about half an hour to fix it.
Nobody will notice unless there's damage to the LCD.
If it has we'll have to change it too.
I can guide you via Skype video calling.
Ok so I have managed to remove the broken screen, it was actually fairly easy my only concern is the part show at the 7:00 minute mark of the video below, was broken when I removed it. The copper tape strip (or whatever it is) is still in tact. Where can I purchase this part? I still have all the pieces and if worst comes to worst I will attempt to very carefully assemble the phone with the broken parts to see if the phone still functions. I'm assuming this is part of what operates the home, search, back and menu buttons.
I have already removed the glue and am going to pick up a new screen from London shortly. I had some adhesive remover and work in a glass shop so I have all the tools and cleaners to ensure my new screen sticks and fits nicely.
After reading the thread you linked I am wondering if the screen they sell in London will will include the outside casing, this would solve all of my problems. I guess I will know soon enough, heading to London now. I will let you guys know how I made out.
Heey if you look on youtube you find couple of videos its not very difficult i did it with a friend of my it takes 20 minutes be carful ^^
Goodluck
You can make do without a front case if you know what you're doing. I lacked equipment so i used alternative methods like shoe glue or blowdryer (which killed the original digitizer)...
No matter what you do they'll recognize if you don't buy it with a front casing though... (Already glued preferably)
I found it in turkey so i don't think you can't find it in london , resources are vast there...
Look around.
Remove the digitizer and check the lcd before heading to london if need be buy it as well.
If you need help you know where to find me...
Cheers!

Ok so I got the new screen installed and everything is working great. I purchased some 3m adhesive at the repair shop which made for a very clean replacement after removing all the old glue with some adhesive remover. Decided to grab a LCD for my brothers LG970 while I was there and repaired it as well.
New phone arrived yesterday evening, so I will be sending this one back this afternoon. The screen replacement is very clean so I'm not concerned about that but I did manage to lose the little speaker cover from the front of the phone, I just plan on telling Rogers it fell of at some point if they ask about it. Considering the phone is in working order with no physical damage besides wear and tear I don't expect an issue from Rogers.
By the way anyone want to purchase the brand new Optimus3d Rogers sent me? Not even taking this one out of the box, selling it and getting the as far away from LG phones as I can.
Thanks for all the help guys.
I could think about buying it but you need to disassemble it and wrap the parts good.
In Turkey it's illegal to buy phones from foreign countries but it's not if you buy not working parts.
So in short i'm gonna con them into thinking it's for parts if you're up to it. PM me the price in your head.

Issue with replacement LCD and Screen

I ordered a replacement LCD assembly with frame off eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=190964828803&alt=web
I installed it last night. The screen looks great and mostly works error free... Except where the bottom where the nav bars sit. When I press any of those buttons other press points show up on the screen. (Ie. Press back button and the Hangouts icon lights up also as if they were both pressed at the same time) and opens Hangouts. Press the home button and it presses whatever is in the center of the screen.
Anyone had this happen with a new screen? Is it a bad screen or a bad install?
I emailed he seller and they seemed quite surprised that it isn't 100% functional. They asked me to do a hard reboot and check for broken connectors. Might just pull it back off and get a replacement or a refund.

I found a reputable company locally that can fix it.
Took it in, was told to come back in an hour.
An hour went by and he tells me that the phone is missing the frame (bracket) that holds the ear piece speaker in place..........
The frame I had shipped back had the ear piece fit fine, the original broken glass that I told him I wanted back the ear piece fit fine...
I don't know if I'm missing a piece but he showed me the new frame and there seems to be something missing from his that was on the others.
This N5 is becoming a nightmare.
The part circled in red is supposedly the "bracket" he needs to re-install the ear piece. Yet every frame I see online has one included.
I told him to save my broken glass and I'll deal with it later. (either just use a small adhesive or pull it off the original glass and frame)
Any ideas? This is getting dumb.
Annnnnd to top it all off, he just called, the screen that they had didn't work, has to order another one. It'll be in Monday, with my work schedule I can't pick it up now until Saturday.
