How to Root
This was a hard & long trial to get this phone rooted. Though, it's a very simple way found by me and yuweng, thanks bro!
Based on yuweng's tutorial : MT6577 CWMR Root Updated V2[/b]
Download these and follow the tutorial:
ADB.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?11cbu388oqu8amw
All the Drivers I could find - http://www.mediafire.com/?wfr5fgkxkdau6w4
CWMR Recovery's.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?2r30o428558h22q
MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?h22puc8kac6axv7
SP Flash Tool v2.1134.00.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?ob5caeigzc1ga10
SP Flash Tool v3.1224.0.sn85.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?5u29nf4fp4omw9n
Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip - http://www.mediafire.com/?fee3e7cta5mg3fp
- Setting up the folders and phone (to make it easy)
1. Create a folder in C:\ called "GooApple"
2. Extract all the ZIP files EXCEPT "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip" to "C:\GooApple\" so you have 6 folders in GooApple.
3. And copy "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip" to "C:\GooApple\"
4. I prefer doing a factory reset before doing this.
* Factory reset can be found at Settings > General > Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone
5.Now enable Unknown sources, USB debugging and Stay Awake.
* Unknown sources can be found at Settings > Store.
* USB debugging and Stay Awake can be found at Settings > Store > Development.
6. Make sure all drivers are installed properly. Some might install when connecting the USB.
7. Turn off your phone and unplug your USB cable from the phone (Let the USB be in your computer/laptop)
- Backup your own recovery (not required but suggested)
8. Open "Flash_tool.exe" from version "3.1224.0.sn85".
9. Click on File > Open Scatter-loading file, then browse to "C:\GooApple\MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146" and open "MT6573_Android_scatter.txt".
10. Click on the Read back tab (top). (If there is anything in the list, please Remove it.)
11. Click on Add and double click on the ROM_1.
12. Now type recovery.img at Filename, then browse to "C:\GooApple\MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146\SPFT_UPLOAD" and click Save.
13. In the popup, select
* Type: Hex
* Read Method: Read Page Only
* Start Adress: 0x980000
* Length: 0x00500000
And click Ok
This info can be found when loading the Firmware.info in MTK Rom Studio
14. Click on Read back. Now hold the "Volume -" button and insert the USB in your phone. It should say OK at the end.
Now you have a backup of your original recovery.img in case you want to restore it.
- Installing CWM Recovery (REQUIRED FOR ROOTING!!)
14. Go to the CWMR Recovery's folder, then choose if you want the Standard CWM or the Touchscreen CWM and copy the recovery.img included to "C:\GooApple\MTK Rom Studio 1.1.77.146"
* Standard CWM is controlled by Volume up and down. Touchscreen CWM is controlled by both.
15. Open "Flash_tool.exe" from version "2.1134.00".
16. Click on Scatter-loading and browse to "MT6573_Android_scatter.txt" in MTK Rom Studio and open it. (Click OK on the popup)
17. Now make sure everything is unchecked EXCEPT "RECOVERY". (Don't forget that your phone should be turned off and unplugged.)
18. Now click on download and insert your USB cable. It should say OK at the end.
Now you have CWM Recovery installed.
- Rooting the phone
19. Start your phone and connect to USB Storage Mode.
20. Copy "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip" to the ROOT of your SDcard. And turn off USB Storage (but keep your USB in)
21. Now boot your phone into recovery mode. There are 2 methods, I prefer method #2 as it's more safe and works most often. (Someone's phone kept vibrating while doing method #1)
* Method #1:
- Shut off your phone (wait untill it vibrates to make sure it's completely off).
- Hold the "Volume +" button and the "Power" button.
- You now are in recovery or your phone keeps vibrating.
* Method #2:
- With your phone on, start "cmd.exe" as administrator on your PC.
- Type "cd C:\GooApple\ADB" (without the "") and press enter.
- Type "adb reboot recovery" (without the "") and press enter again.
- Your phone shall reboot in recovery.
22. In recovery, select "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard" and select "Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip". Select "Yes - Install ..."
* Recovery Controls (Standard CWM)
Volume + = UP
Volume - = DOWN
Power = Select
Home = Go to +++++Go Back+++++
23. Once completed, select Go Back, and select wipe data/factory reset.
24. Now select "reboot system now".
And here we go... Your GooApple V5+ is Rooted !
Thanks again yuweng for the support !

How to Increase Internal Memory - INT2EXT method (ROOT required)
"INT2EXT on MT6575 / 77 for the extreme gamers !" for GooApple V5+ thanks to yuweng !
- NOTE: THE PHONE TENDS TO BE SLOWER AS IT HAS TO LOAD FROM THE SDCARD
Based on yuweng's tutorial : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?7zjz4onhos826bk
Download and/or install and extract these:
MiniTool Partition Wizard (Home edition) - http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html
INT2EXT-mtd.7z (Includes install-recovery.sh) - http://www.mediafire.com/?16psto1xqw4b0s0
Notepad++ (To edit install-recovery.sh) - http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download/v6.2.3.html
ES File Explorer File Manager - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lc3Ryb25ncy5hbmRyb2lkLnBvcCJd
BACKUP YOUR GOOAPPLE V5+ WITH CWMR
1. First I installed and opened MiniTool Partition Wizard and mounten my SD card (32gb & Class10) with going in USB Storage Mode.
2. In MiniTool Partition Wizard, I selected my drive and resized it from 29gb to 26gb (FAT32).
3. Then I selected the remaining 2.5-3gb and created a new partition : Primary , Ext4 , 4kb. Don't forget to click Apply at the top left.
4. Then I extracted INT2EXT-mtd.7z and installed Notepad++.
5. With Notepad++ , I opened install-recovery.sh and changed unbind to bind in lines 61, 66, 71 and 98. Then saved it.
6. Now I copied the EDITED install-recovery.sh to the root of my /sdcard/ (Location when you open your phone).
7. Having ES File Explorer File Manager (EFEFM) installed, give it Root acces via the Settings at the bottom (check everything at root settings).
8. Next, select install-recovery.sh in EFEFM and copy it to /system/etc/ and give it full read/write/execute acces.
9. After this is done reboot your phone. For me, after the first boot it just shutted off. So then I had to power it on again and I had 2.6gb internal memory.
Hooooorah ! :good:
Thanks again yuweng for the files, info, tutorials and time !

Tips&Info
- Make 3 backups of your phone through CWM Recovery because some might get corrupt.
- Use Titanium Backup Pro or a similar tool to remove unused/chinese system apps.
- The MTK6575 can be compared to the PowerVR processor. So the PowerVR games work on the GooApple V5+.

Change BUILD.PROP for more compatibility of Apps&Games
Your phone is being recognized as a Android Alps phone which a lot of apps don't even recognize.
So the best thing you can do is change your "build.prop" a little to increase the compatibility.
For example, yesterday I bought N.O.V.A. 2 which says it's not compatible (but it is).
1. Open Root Explorer or something similar.
2. Go into /system/ folder. Make sure the folder is R/W.
3. Press and hold on build.prop then select "Open in Text Editor".
4. Next, change the following.
- ro.product.model=GT-I9000
- ro.product.brand=samsung
- ro.product.name=GT-I9000
- ro.product.device=GT-I9000
- ro.product.board=GT-I9000
- ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
5. Then go back and it will ask you to save it. Save it.
6. Now reboot your phone and try again with more compatibility !

The phone can be bought at Android-Sale.com

What I wish to do with this phone and might need help for:
ROM (standard and v5+4s_a116_ios_root_12.11.16_Launcher)
- Get GPS to work on my phone. (Still don't know if it's just me or the phone.)
- Change the USB Storage Mode image to something like the iPhone by editing Framework-res.apk.
- Increase Internal memory by taking System's memory.
ROM (v5+4s_a116_ios_root_12.11.16_Launcher only)
- Remove all the chinese icons in "Google Pinyin IME" keyboard and add AZERTY for Belgium and France.
GooApple V5+ Manual
Thanks to "Q" for looking up this valuable information !
How to take a screenshot:
Tap both the "Home"-button and "Power"-button simultaneous. If you have sounds activated, you'll hear a shutter sound.
How to force restart:
Deep at the bottom of the 3.5 headphone jack there is a restart-button. Use a small tool like a bent paperclip or toothpick to reach it.
You can use this restart-button if your phone freezes and can not be restarted using the normal power-button.
THIS IS A LIFESAVER !
Recovery-menu explained:
The Recovery-menu is a boot-menu that can be used to backup, restore, clean cache or change ROMs in your GooApple phone.
This menu can be either in English or Chinese and may vary slightly depending on what type of Recovery came pre-installed on your phone.
You can install a different Recovery-menu on your phone like CMWR / TWPR
To access the Recovery-menu:
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the PLUS-button and POWER-button on your phone until you arrive at the recovery menu.
NOTE: Depending on ROM and Recovery-version, you may actually need to press MINUS-button and POWER-button to access the Recovery-menu
Factory-test-menu:
This can be used to test the hardware functionality of your phone.
To access the Factory-test-menu:
-Turn off your phone.
-Press and hold the PLUS-button and POWER-button on your phone then lose it and hold it again after the vibration.
NOTE: It doesn't always work so you really need the perfect timing.
Navigating the user-interface:
This menu you can close running apps on the background so pretty usefull sometimes.
- Double-tap the "Home"-button shows running/standby apps and possibility to close apps by long-pressing icons in deployed menu.
- Double-tap the "Home"-button at the unlock-screen will show you the music player and a button to quickly acces the camera.
- Hold the "Home"-button to acces Wallpaper and Settings faster.
- Pressing the "+"-button when using the camera will take a picture.
NOTE: Double tapping must have some kind of pace in pressing these 2. If you do it too fast, ut doesn't work.. but too slow, it doesnt work either, so it has to be right.
- "Long-pressing" an icon in the menu makes the icons jiggly so you can change the position of your icons by dragging them to a desired position or on another icon to create a folder.
- "Long-pressing" the MINUS-button can bring up a menu in some applications. - UNCONFIRMED
Trouble hanging up a phone-call?
- Holding the phone vertically during a call turns off the screen (if the light-sensor has been covered).
- Holding the phone horizontally for a few seconds, will turn the screen on again and display the "End call"-button.
NOTE: Make sure you never double-tap the "Home"-button during a call. It will minimize the calling session so you will still be calling in the background. So make sure you always press the "End call"-button.
Change user interface language
If you cleared user data when installing a new ROM, the phone is likely to boot up in Chinese. Follow these steps to change it back to English:
- Press the Settings-button (you can probably identify this by its icon).
- Select the 9th option (General)
- Select the 8th option (International)
- Select the 1st option (Select language)
- Select your language.
NOTE: If you want some influence of your native language, you can install MoreLocale2 from GooglePlayStore. Some apps will be in your native language.
How to change the IMEI-number:
To change the IMEI number, you most likely will have to use MTKdroidTools from MediaFire.com.
It has an option to change the IMEI number but for this, you will need:
- the ADB drivers to be installed.
- A new IMEI number with what you want to change the original one.
- Phone connected to your computer.
How to add more Ring, SMS, Notification - sounds on your GooApple:
- Connect the phone to a computer in USB Storage Mode.
- Create the following folders on your SD-card:
- Ringtones
- Alarms
- Notifications
- Move your own sounds into the appropriate folder.
- Adjust the sounds-settings on your phone here:
- Ring-tone: Settings>Audo profiles>General>Voice call ringtone
- SMS-tone: Settings>Auido profiles>General>Notification ringtone
- Alarm-tone: Enter your Clock-app and add a new alarm and you should be presented with ringtone-options.
How to remove the backcover and change the MicroSD:
You might want to remove the backcover to change the MicroSD card or maybe even to change the cover.
To remove the cover:
- Unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom of your phone. You need a special screwdriver for this.
- Slide the back cover up once the screws are removed.
To change the MicroSD:
- Having the cover removed, you will see the SD card to the left of the battery trapped in some aluminium cover.
- Slide the aluminium cover to the left and now you can remove the SD card.
To put the cover back on:
- Put the cover back in its place, then drag it down (instead of up to remove it).
- Put the 2 screws back

And can anyone with a GooApple V5+ please try this to fix the GPS signal?
1. Charge your phone completely (100%)
2. Download and install Mobileuncle MTK Tools from Google Play.
3. Go to Settings > Location Services and turn off everything here. Also turn off WiFi.
4. Now turn off your phone. Then turn it back on and enable WiFi.
5. At Settings > Location Services
- Enable : Use wireless networks.
- Enable : Use GPS satellites
- Enable : GPS EPO assistance -> Go into EPO Settings and check the EPO file info if it's downloaded, if not, make sure you're connected to the internet and uncheck/recheck Auto Download.
- Enable : A-GPS
6. Open Start Mobileuncle MTK Tools and go to Information and click on Full , then Cold and go back to Satellites.
7. Go outside/window/balcony and after a while, the red dots should become green.

They say it works for MTK 657x models but it doesn't work for me. I keep getting red dots instead of green.

Drivers
Hi,
My Gooapple V5+ arrived.
I'm quite lost since no manual inside and this is my first android.
Regarding the rooting issue, I first decided install drivers. As I read, the process is connecting USB to PC and wait for Windows to ask something and then navigate to MT6575 USB VCOM drivers forder.
However, Win7 recognized V5+ as an Android device and installed some drivers, including "My HTC" (?)(!)
Now I can access SD card and maybe something else (I have no idea what) but I can't connect to internet through USB
The big quiestion now for me, in order to root the phone, is how to install drivers properly, bcos we have:
drivers preloader MT65xx
Android ADB Interface
MT6575 USB VCOM drivers
usb_driver
usb_driver_MT65xx_Android_ZTE_v821
I have a Win7 x64 laptop
About the GPS, I have just attempt fix my possition with "MAPS", but despite I downloaded some file, I can't fix possition bcos I'm indoors now.
Thanks for any comments

I'm not sure how the USB thetering works but I'll look into it.
About the drivers. I do it like this: plug it in, then choose the DRIVERS folder and let it choose automaticly.
Android device is correct, but I haven't seen the HTC one though, I'd recommend uninstalling that one.
But really , it can do a lot if you just plug it in, let it search the driver automaticly (don't select any specific folder, just DRIVERS if you really need to).
Also the VCOM driver is more for when you're about to flash your recovery through SPFT which it will install automaticly.
If you need any "personal" help on rooting it, feel free to ask, I'll support you via skype/facebook/teamviewer.
And I too am using Win7 64bit

It seems that Win7 installs a Google pack of USB drivers when detects Android devices.
Maybe this one I found:
softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Google/Google-USB-Driver-Revision4.
And bcos GooApple is not in the list, Win7 chooses HTC that has 6575 chip aswell.
I will try to uninstall "My HTC" but Windows prefer this to any in the DRIVERS folder, perhaps is more up-to-date.
Any way, automatic driver download/installing maybe problematic with this phone.
Thanks a lot for support. I will need some days to become familiar with the phone before the next level

Thank you, is a very useful guide ! :good:

Ehm it shouldn't say GooApple V5+ in device manager.
For me it says Android Phone > Android ADB Interface and when I turn on USB storage, I just get Portable Devices: G:\.
So yeah, strange it uses HTC. And sorry that I cannot explain properly how to install the drivers because I just installed a few drivers , uninstalled some and installed some other and it worked.
But the most important thing is that the VCOM driver is installed. Which will automaticly install once you try the *Read Back* method. OR this might work too:
Turn off your phone. Plugin the USB cable in your computer but not in the phone (yet).
Now hold the Volume + button and then insert the USB cable into your phone. I think now, it should install the VCOM drivers automaticly.
And no problem Anhuc ! I haven't had time to test some things as I'm in a period of getting a job for the rest of my life

Drivers Problem Fixed!!
Well, for some reason my V5+ only accept VCOM driver if press "+" when plug-in USB in phone OFF, as you suggested.
If connect USB to PC with phone "ON" it ONLY accepts Android ADB Composite Interface, as you said.
So thanks everybody for suggestions and comments. I thing the first challenge overcome :good:
PS:
About the HTC driver I had first, maybe it was bcos I had MOBILE-EDIT software, wich installs many drivers, so I had to remove it from ControlPanel/Pograms/Unistall
But after it, connected phone to PC and it installed automatically "My HTC" driver again
So removed driver from DeviceManager and also removed Google Android USB Package from PC execiting "pnputil.exe -e" in command prompt, to see the OEM# of package, then removed with "pnputil.exe -d Oem#.inf"
Seems extrange but works great. (see details here: technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc730875.aspx)
I have taken some screen shots of this in case someone need.
Hope may help people with persistent drivers....

Good to hear that Q and thanks for sharing the information on what was causing it !
It can always help someone else out who has the same issue.
Anyways, I guess you can get to the part of flashing the phone with CMWR right?
I suggest jus reading the first part of the Rooting untill installing CMW and start there as thats the basic thing you need to do as the files I uploaded already include the patched recovery.img.
To see some pictures, check this out : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?8mxvy0ey5yfdu59 page 16 thats basicly how to Download recovery.img to your phone. But always follow my tutorial or ask me to do it for you

GPS without signal
Yes, I downloaded averything from v5+ tutorial and carefully read and understood this excellent work.
However, manage GPS to work is my priority now.
Is there any light in the dark?
I tried and tried, downloaded EPO files, used MTK Tools and even installed an iGo My Way version compatible with Retina screen.
One hour in the field and only saw a little signal bar of one satellite (if it was a satellite) but no points (red or green) at all in MTK Tools.
Have someone seen at least a single pretty point in the grid?
Thanks for any help.

Ooh thanks for helping out.
I do get red dots yeah but they don't turn green :/
Things you could try is
Download GPS Status & Toolbox : Launch GPS Status & Toolbox. You'll see a compass and some other stats. Hit the menu button for more options.
Make sure you have an active data connection and go to "Manage A-GPS State". Then, tap the "Download" button in the menu that pops up. When it's done, exit the app.
And another thing that made me come closer was changing the gps.conf but I dont remember what tool to use. You can do it manually though. (It's located in system/etc)

Okay!
At least I have the dots in grid.
8 satellites in red but no singnal bars :/ after 30 min with all assistance enabled and filter off.
It's very strange, all my GPSs (I have 4 more devices) can get possition from cold in less than 20 min,
Some firmware issue here, I pressume.
I will contunue with this...

I think I know the answer

I don't think so, you can still do it without losing everything.
Just flash the recovery.img, then install the rooting zip and you're good to go !
And if you need help rooting this baby, I can do it for you in 2 hours from now

Well, something bad happened.
Afetr the backup opperation tha finished OK, it has a wrong behaviour with battery icon.
Sometimes show the pugged icon and others a ray inside.
When turn off, it finish ok and then vibrates, but a few seconds later the battery icon charging fills the scren (unplugged of course) and few seconds later disappears.
Not a big problem, but after it I tried a second backup after factory settings restore and this time when plug USB on phone while pressing "-" nothing happens. PC do nothing (not installing drivers as before) and flash_tool can't finish the last part of procedure.
I even used differnt cable but nothing. USB parameters are as suggested....
Please help!
Thanks

Nothing worked to make it responding to USB...
Cables ok, config of USB ok too....
Decided opening phone and release power from battery cables.
I have never did it before but succeed on it
Now repeated opperation and made a successful backup in factory settings
Again I had to reset from 3.5mm jack
All ok, no problems (perhaps battery icon, but not sure)
Will continue rooting later

[Tutorial]Gigabyte G1305 / Orange Boston unlock and upgrade to 2.1 with CMLMod 1.5.1

I won't follow this thread anymore since i have sold my Boston. Anyway you can find more informations on htcmania.com (use google translate if you don't speak spanish)
EDIT: Upgrade to CMLMod 1.5 based on Muchtel ROM (below outdated CML 1.4)
With this tutorial you sould be able to unlock your Orange Boston (aka GigaByte G1305 Codfish, Apanda A60, WellcoM A88, Vibo A688, Cincinnati Bell Blaze f800, Commtiva Z71, Muchtel A1, Chinavision Excalibur, Motorola Greco, Nexian A890) and install CMLMod 1.5.1 (or 1.4) (by c.martinez.lozano) based on the ROM Muchtel 2.1 (eclair)
Main advantages/disadvantages of CMLMod 1.5.1:
+Unlocked device (can use any SIM)
+Android 2.1 (Eclair)
+Root access with Superuser permissions
+Preinstalled programms and other features
+Easy SD partitioning and more features thanks to the new recovery
+Optional App2SD
+Processor speed adjustable in a range between 122 and 600MHz (with the possibility to set variable processor speed to have performance and longer battery life at the same time)
+Other features: 3 different launchers, flash light, setcpu, app2SD in one click, other preinstalled apps and tweaks
=Camera autofocus not working (like on stock ROM)
=Different UserInterface (in my opinion better, but that's subjective)
-You may loose the warranty on your device
-IMEI may change, to restore your original IMEI use the tutorial in my second post
-Languages not fully implemented (english is working fully, other languages settable with LocaleSwitch but not fully integrated )
Important!!! There may be the risk of damaging your phone in an irreparable way! Be aware also by installing this ROM you will loose your warranty! I do not take any responsability for the status of your device!
I translated the tutorials on htcmania.com

Requirements
Hardware requirements:
-Phone model: Orange Boston (aka GigaByte G1305 Codfish, Apanda A60, WellcoM A88, Vibo A688, Cincinnati Bell Blaze f800, Commtiva Z71, Muchtel A1, Chinavision Excalibur, Motorola Greco, Nexian A890)
Edit: never seen a phone with so many different names!!!
-PC operating system: Windows XP 32 bit with SP3 and .NET Framework 2.0 and Winrar installed. Do not try with Windows XP working on a virtual machine!!!. Seems to work also on other Windows 32 bit operating. Does NOT work with Windows7 64 bit
-USB to micro USB cable (comes with the phone)
Software requirements For CMLMod 1.5.1:
Firmware Apanda A60 1.6.2
Firmware CMLMod 1.5.1 (this file already contains RUT 1.2.2 and the Phone drivers)
Additional for CMLMod 1.4 (Outdated):
RUT 1.2.2
Phone drivers
Firmware Apanda A60 2.1.9
Firmware CMLMod 1.4
Tools like adb, fastboot, etc
Ready to start! make sure you have enough battery left (at least 30%)
PART 1: Installing Apanda 1.6.2
Unpack the file Phone drivers on your desktop, or another place, but remember where
install RUT_V1_2_2. At the end you will have to reboot your pc. Reboot it
[*]Unpack the firmware 1.6.2 from the archive Hipi1_6_2.rar and you get a file ending with .nb0
[*]Execute RUT (the shortcut should be on your desktop). The program reminds us to prepare the USB cable and to have all the drivers installed. (For Vista or Seven 32 bit: right click on the RUT shortcut. on the menu select Properties-->Compatibility check Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) then press OK, then right click on the Rut shortcut and select Run as administrator)
[*]In the next window, look for the firmware just to unpacked (the .nb0 file) and select it.
[*]The instructions tell you what to do: disconnect the phone from your pc (if connected), remove and reinsert the battery to your phone
[*]Hold the camera button and the volume up button pressed and then press the power button to enter recovery menu.
[*]Once the recovery menu, connect your phone to your computer. If we never connected in recovery, it requires new drivers. They are in the inside the Folder we unpacked in step 1 inside the subfolder AndroidX32 for 32 bit operating systems (if it later asks for drivers again, select the same folder again).
[*]The installer will detect your phone. If not, enter the Device Manager and check that all devices are correctly installed.
[*]From now on, follow the on-screen instructions and wait, it takes a while.
[*]Once complete, we have the new firmware installed. Our phone will restart and (after a while) show us something in chinese. Touch the right on-screen button to select the english language.
[*]When your phone is on check your IMEI by dialing *#06# and then press the call button and write it down. Now check the IMEI written on the phone under the battery. If the IMEI is the same, go on with PART 2. if the IMEI changes, use the tutorial in my second post to restore the original IMEI.
Now your phone is unlocked but you have the chinese version of Android 1.6
PART 2: Installing CMLMod 1.5.1 (for CMLMod 1.4 skip this and go to PART 2 OLD)
Unpack the file CMLMod1.5.rar
Run the programm RUT once again, and select the newCMLMod1.5.nb0 file you got
Repeat the same steps described in PART 1: 6.-10.
Now on your phone open the main menu and then CMLMod1.5 to configure App2SD select Configurar Apps2sd, then partitionar SD the phone will restart into recovery mode.
Now select Partition sdcard, Partition SD and confirm with the Home key. set swap=0, Ext2=512 (is more then enough! you can also set less) and Confirm twice again.
Then press the back button and select APP2SD if you want your apps being installed on your sd in the Ext2 partition.
Attention!!! if after you want your apps being installed on your phone memory you have to make a Wipe, that means, your data will be lost.
Always in CMLMod1.5 you can select a launcher, install flash lite and install setcpu to set the speed of the phone's processor with the possibility of variable speed.
FINISH!!!
PART 2 OLD: Installing Apanda 2.1.9
Unpack the file Hipi_2_1_9GMS.rar and you get the file Hipi2_1_9_GMS版.nb0. Rename this file in Hipi2_1_9_GMS.nb0 (the chinese symbol can make problems)
Run the programm RUT once again, and select the new Hipi2_1_9_GMS.nb0 file you got
Repeat the same steps described in PART 1: 6.-10.
Now you have the chinese version of Android 2.1
PART 3 OLD: Installing CMLMod 1.4
Unzip the archive CMLMod1.4zip copy the 3 files inside and paste them into the folder A688
Remove and reinsert the battery of your phone
Press and hold the volume down and the end call buttons and then press the power button
Now your phone starts in fastboot mode. Connect it to your PC
Press on your keyboard Windows+R in the pop up window type "cmd" and press Enter
In the dos window type "cd.." (off course without ") and press Enter, until you are in C:\
Now type "cd A688" Enter, then "fastboot getvar version" Enter. If the answer is "0:5" procede, otherwise control if your drivers are correctly installed
Type "fasboot -w" Enter
Type "fastboot flash system system.img" Enter (wait 2-3 min. until it finishes)
Type "fastboot reboot"
Tutorial: Restore your original IMEI
Wrong IMEI seems to lead to a lot of different strange problems while using the phone. So if your IMEI changed after flashing an other ROM it might be better to restore the original one.
All Credits to c.martinez.lozano
Attention!!! this process is delicated!!! I have no responsability for any damages to your phone!
Dowload this File: and Unpack it to "C:\IMEI"
Go into C:\IMEI and execute setup. This will install PSAS
Execute MadEdit (answer NO), in MadEdit click File-->Open and choose NVList.nvr and we see a lot of numbers
Scroll down until on the left grey side you see "000020C0" and on the same line in the white part you see the numbers ".. .. .. .. 1A 23 45 67 89 AB CD EF...." this is the BAD IMEI
Now open notepad (on your pc) and write down your correct IMEI (found under your battery) putting in front "A" and separing every 2 characters (E.g. if your IMEI is "324867523906130" write "A3 24 86 75 23 90 61 30") and now invert every coupe of letters (in this case you would have "3A 42 68 57 32 09 16 03") *NOTE: thanks to jhonburton for better example
In MadEdit instead of the BAD IMEI "1A 23 45 67 89 AB CD EF" write (replace it) the number you got (in this case "3A 42 68 57 32 09 16 03")
Save the file and close MadEdit
Disconnect from your PC and turn off your phone and restart it into Recovery mode (Camera+Vol. up+Power). Reconnect it to your PC and if necessary install the drivers
Run PSAS (you installed it before) and choose Hardware Forensics-->Use Mobile Ports
Right to Serial Com Port select COM? - Smartphone 2009 Wireless USB Moden. The ? stands for a number. So very important!!! remember for Example if ?=3, remember COM3
Go to the tab Codes (QC) and click on Send SPC
Go to the tab Dialog Port (QC) and on the second drop down menu left to the button Lets go select Restore NVItems (Binary) and then press Lets go
Select the NVList.nrv (we have changed before) and click Open
IMPORTANT Once the process is complete, closed PSAS
Download and install QPST
Launch QPST Configuration
Click on the tab Ports and select Add New Port... and there you write the COM? port you had to remember before (in my example write "COM3") and click OK
In the tab Active Phones now you should see your phone. If not something went wrong.
Click on Start Clients-->SERVICE PROGRAMMING
A window with our phone will pop up. We select OK
Select Load from file and choose the 00000000_sp.qcn inside the folder c:\IMEI and click Open
Click Write to Phone and wait until your phone restarts, with your new IMEI.
Check your IMEI again by dialing *#06# now it should be correct
If your IMEI is still wrong, check accurately if you did everything right (correct number in NRV file etc etc...) if nothing helps procede with following steps:
Turn on the phone in download mode ( Hang up + Vol. Up + Power) and flash Apanda 1.6.2 again
Repeat all the steps of the Tutorial to restore your IMEI
If this didn't help install Apanda 1.6.1 always with the phone in download mode
Repeat all the steps of the Tutorial to restore your IMEI
If you still have problems, try to find another PC with WindowsXP SP3 32bit where you can try again.
Sooner or later you will be able to get you IMEI right (i think so)
thanx a ton suriya I've unlocked my blaze f800
You forget to explain how to use app2sd on CMLMod1.4
Thank's about your translate!!.
Sorry about my bad english
thanks alot. really good tutorial!
i didnt encounter any problems at all, not even those specified by you in the tutorial. as for the underclocked cpu, i see that as an advantage: this android version is faster with lower cpu frequency then the original one (at least for me), and thus, less battery is consumed.
if u dont care about ur phone's warranty (i dont), i really recommend this upgrade.
so far seems stable, but the bug when u place a call and u don't here ringing, persists.
Thanks alot, again!
Is it possible to flash the phone with this room using ROM Manager?
And if following your method do we have to do PART1 of the tutorial? i allready have my phone unlocked and have Android 1.6 for example.
thanks!
I have problem with Imei. After flash it is chaged. And i use this tutorial for restore imei but it didn´t work and my imei is still different thet under battery. And i have problem whit wifi. Maybe bad IMEI is reason for don´t working Wifi

Try once again step by step. start with PART 1 again. be careful you don't forget anything. Use this version of QPST and a new .nrv file this time. if this does not help we will find a solution together looking step by step (in case c.martinez.lozano is an expert).
By the way wich kind of phone do you have, and from wich country? And wich operating system has your computer?

No. But with LocaleSwitch you can select italian then most things are in italian. Settings (impostazioni) is still in English, and no italian dictionary on the stock keyboard. you can install another keyboard, to solve this. But wait for CML 1.5. Maybe some better.

NOTE: If your tablet showing version 6.1.5 (559[or higher]) or 0.6.1.2(587) Then you can skip some part of the guide. Scroll down directly to the "Alternative Solution" using MicroSD burning. You still need to download the Android 2.2 Froyo Main Firmware.
------------------------------
:: Preparing the Male to Male USB Cable :: (if you have one skip this)
Ok let's start, what you need is a male to male USB cable, if you don't have one you can make your own male to male cable.
Tools
- 2 USB Cable
- Scissor or Cutter
- Electrical Tape or anything to cover the exposed wire
- Solder Lead (Optional)
- Soldering Iron (Optional)
1. Cut each USB to the nearest tip of the female, to make your USB cable longer.
2. Cut each end of the USB to expose the wires and copper wires.
3. Now you can connect each end of the USB, and twist each wires, you can solder it if you like.
4. Now you can tape each wires, and tape all the wires.
This is the finish product.
:: Preparation for Files and Flashing Procedures ::
*Note: Please PM me if there are missing links.
Download IUW 1.1 Flashing Tool
Download Firmware V2852
Download Uboot - V 0.6.1.2(587) working camera
Download Main Android 2.2 Froyo ROM with Flash 10.1
Download New Ramdisk image to change the path of save files to SDCard1
Download Extra Tools Apps
Updated ROM: 25.11.2011
Download Firmware Froyo 2.2 v2.5 #4325
------------------------------------------------------------
:: Clean up the tablet files ::
- Wipe cache partition
- Wipe data/factory reset
- then reboot.
Remove all microSD so that it will not start burning if you have firmware on your microSD.
Visit this link how to clean the data for your tablet.
------------------------------------------------------------
:: Let's Start ::
1. Make a Folder on your desktop for fast track of your files, I named it Froyo 2.2 and save all your downloaded files here.
2. Download IUW Flashing tool, and save it inside the folder of your desktop.
3. After download, unpack it inside the folder.
NOTE: Your tablet should be full charged, and connect the charger while flashing, just to make sure it will not drain much power on your tablet. Don't forget also to remove all your MicroSD cards from the tablet.
4. Since your done making your USB Cable, your tablet should be off and plug the other end USB to the PC and plug the other end on your tablet USB Port between the headphone jack and SDCard Slot 1.
5. Open the IUW application, select Link USB on the left side. And on the Link information the DV (driver) is greyed, because it's not detecting the tablet with driver.
6. Power up the tablet with this combination Power + Menu button for few seconds until you see the message on your tablet "Communicating with PC..."
7. A New Hardware notification will pop up on your PC Screen.
(you have 2 minutes to setup this or the tablet will boot normally)
Select Advance, Next.
Browse the driver from your desktop inside the folder "otg_driver"
Then it will install the driver.
The flasher will turn to green.
:: FLASHING V2852 ::
This rom will only run on tablets which display a version number in the bottom-right "Infotmic" screen when first turned on.. If yours doesn't display a number there, you will need to flash firmware v2852 first.
8. 'Choose a wrapped image' press the "..." button Select the IUS file "WWE10B_Android_393477-v9full.ius"
9. Click 'burn' to flash the tablet.
This picture is flashing the tablet.
10. After burning finishes, plug out the USB cable and press Reset, then restart the device.
:: Flashing UBOOT ::
11. Open UIW application, and connect your tablet USB to PC.
12. Select "Link USB" on "USB Mode:" select "Expert Mode" Uncheck all except "UO".
13. Browse the "u-boot-nand.bin" the one with working camera.
14. After flashing this is the result.
15. Your screen with start to flicker, it will start to initialize.
16. I will take time to load up, until you are in display calibration.
:: Flashing IMAGES ::
17. Power off your tablet, and prepare again the UIW to flash the main android 2.2 firmware.
18. Click Link USB, and select Expert burn.
NOTE: Use the other Ramdisk.img fix you download, not from the flash10.1-android2.2 folder.
19. Power up the tablet with this combination Power + Menu button for few seconds until you see the message on your tablet "Communicating with PC...", if the Dv is green your ready and click the burn button.
20. I will take time to load up, until you are in display calibration and your Done!
:: Alternative Solution ::
If you cant burn the main android image using USB method. You can try the MicroSD card method, but this is only applicable if your tablet will display the version under the InfoTMIC start up logo.
Lets make a bootable MicroSD, to convert the file size to 700~705MB, you need a MicroSD at least 1GB.
Download WinHex with MicroSD Clone Image.
1. Open your WinHex
2. Click Tools->Disk Tools->Clone Disk->
3. On Source Raw Image: click the file button.
locate the "aben.start sector" file, click open.
4. On Destination Medium: click the drive button.
locate the Physical Media of your card reader/MicroSD, ok.
5. Fill in the Start Sector with 0 (zero).
6. Click OK, and WinHex pop up will appear, click OK and it will start cloning the image file to your MicroSD.
7. A notepad will pop up that you are done cloning the image, close and press OK on the pop up message.
8. Close WinHex, and safely remove the card reader/MicroSD.
9. Plug the card reader/MicroSD again, and do a quick format.
10. If you successfully formated the MicroSD to 700~705MB then create an "android" folder, and copy all the main image files on the folder. And your Done! :: If you fail there are some other reason, some card reader is not working properly, try to find another card reader, if your phone has MicroSD Slot and able to communicate and serve as card reader, you can use this also.
- ramdisk (use the other ramdisk you download)
- system
- uImage
- userdata
some optional or skipped file.
- u-boot-nand (android v2.2)
- zSYS (Flytouch Official Image 3245)
This is what's inside the MicroSD on android folder.
12. After copying the files plug the MicroSD at the top most/Slot 1 between the 2 USB port.
13. And Power On your Tablet, and it will start Flashing just like here on the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47kf4-Vbba8#t=3
You can also use this MicroSD to downgrade back to 3245 firmware.
Thank you.

Confirmed that the 3G USB modem Huawei E1752 is working perfectly. Just create an APN and reboot while the Huawei E1752 is in the USB port.. After startup it makes a connection and works fast!
manually created an APN in settings/connections/mobile providers and configured for your local provider. Also enabled data connection, otherwise I won't start searching. After that reboot and it started working. No specials actions required.

Can you see the version under the InfoTMIC start up logo?
If you can see it then you are ready to update using MicroSD method.
@smarkies
no there is no version number
first time I connected to pc it said found new hardware but no driver. There I selected the otg driver in the package.
Burntool does connect and goes up from 0 to 100 procent (very quick about 7 secs.) when i burn but when i check im still on my previous build.
After that I tried to update to other firmware using update.zip on winhexed sd card. This did work so now I am on 1623 build.
after that I tried again using burntool but still didnt work out.
In the folder containing the 2852 rom there are also two folders
0.6.1.2_1.4.587_OV2655 and
0.6.1.5_1.4.587_GT2005
both contain uboot and uboot nand files is there something I have to do with them before I can flash?
Any advice?
Other thing I noticed: in recovery menu there is a line saying:
e:can't open / cache / recovery / command
It didnt stop me from update with update zip but could it be the reason burntool isnt working for me?

dont touch any file inside the folder of 0.6.1.2_1.4.587_OV2655 and 0.6.1.5_1.4.587_GT2005.
Try to burn the UO first, u-boot-nand.bin the one with working camera, if not try this another u-boot-nand.
Then burn the Main Image Android Rom.
Thanks for the quick repy to be sure I wont Brick my Pad
for the uo file I use Uboot - V 0.6.1.2(587) or uboot - 0.6.1.5 (587)
and for the ROM files I only use files from the 20110416-v1001 folder?
If so I will burn right away

I abused my pad flashing many times, and still it is alive, It will brick if your USB cable is poorly made, or overpowered that will fry the motherboard of your tablet, just like what happen to other people.
the safest way to flash is microSD, but it is tricky with this froyo update that's why I risk on flashing using USB.
V 0.6.1.2(587) this one has working camera. But you can try both uboot to display the version under the InfoTMIC logo. But I use V 0.6.1.2(587) coz I want the camera to work fine.
Yes the files inside the 20110416-v1001 folder except for the u-boot-nand inside.
If the USB flashing doesnt work you can try the alternative, using the microSD.
Thank u very very much worked like a chime.
camera and wifi are working I used uo V 0.6.1.2(587)
will play with it tonight to see what else it can do now

IUW does not work with 64 bit
Please add in the OP that some on other forum sites have confirmed that IUW does NOT work with any 64 bit operating system.
I will link to reference if I come across it again...
For Development USB debugging options for Z4Root, you may also want to link to my post HERE.
quick tip for windows 7 users, picture 6 will not happen, at least it didn't for me, you need to navigate to devices and printers, find the unknown device, and manually install the otg driver
Works as advertised.
I bricked my tab first, but got it up and running again with your step by step guide. Many thanks!
I followed your instruction for SD card and it worked perfectly. I now have the 3925 version on my Superpad and it seems to be working well. Definite improvement on Angry Birds(which I play way too much) and Home Run Battle 3D. WiFI works fine, don't know about GPS or camera as I don't really use them, but I will check just for curiosity sake Seems to be faster and I have had no random lockups that I had with the v5 I had on previously. I will report back as I use it. Thanks for all the great work!

Yes, that's why I made it with Windows XP, and we are aware that 64bit OS is so choosy in terms of software compatibility.
About the USB Debugging, I already made a guide after the Flashing/Burning guide.

[Cube U9GT2/Window N90/Visture V2/Easypad 970] Guides & Tips

This thread is for guides and tips related to Cube U9GT2, Window N90, Visture V2, and Easypad 970.
Questions: For further questions some very nice threads already exist in: XDA (EN), SlateDroid (EN), Chinamobiles (DE), 4PDA (RU), and Moage (CN).
Everyone is welcome to post here their own guides/tips, even when already similar topics exist. Unfortunately often guides and tips vanish in endless thread pages. Here is a suitable place to bundle all these in one place together and link them in needed user posts.
Guides & Tips - How to:
01. Use the storage of my device (#2)
02. Root (#3)
03. Flash a Firmware (#4)
04. Use Moage's ROMs (#5)
05. Make Gameloft Games visible/installable (#6)
06. Use 3G (#32 by Darkjesus)
07. Stabilize my WiFi (#34)
08. Use Ad-hoc WiFi (extLink.01; extLink.02 + special wpa_supplicant)
09. Customize ROMs (extLink.01 + extLink.02)
10. Use a different charger (extLink)
11. Fix the "Google Play Store" (extLink)
12. Use CIFS (extLink)
13. Improve speaker quality + volume (#35)
14. Install GApps correctly (#36)
15. Do Screenshots in ICS without root (#37)
16. Tweak build.prop (extLink)
17. Unpack an IMG
18. Open the Tablet
19. Make Bluetooth working
(01) How to: Use the storage of my device
1. Turn tablet (on), and switch debugging (off)
-> 2.3.1 Settings/Applications/Development -> USB-debugging
-> 4.0.3 Settings/Developer options -> USB-debugging
2. Connect device with PC (Win7) and use tablet's upper microUSB port (not OTG)
3. Windows will now try to install drivers, this will last ~20sec, mostly Win7 will succeed
-> if not then download "RK2918-USB-Drivers" and direct Win7 to those drivers; sometimes it will happen that windows cannot handle Intel drivers -> then choose AMD drivers
-> the result should be, e.g.:
{

(2) How to: Root
I. Preparation, "ADB Driver" installation:
1. Turn tablet (on), and switch debugging (on)
-> 2.3.1 Settings/Applications/Development -> USB-debugging
-> 4.0.3 Settings/Developer options -> USB-debugging
2. Connect device with PC (Win7) and use tablet's upper microUSB port (not OTG).
3. Windows will now try to install drivers, but Win7 will not succeed - if already drivers are installed (yellow triangle) remove them completely.
4. Open device manager (start/control panel/device manager) and click on your tablet-device name (e.g. Cube) and choose "update driver".
5. Now select: Browse my Computer -> Let me pick -> All Devices -> Have Disk.
6. Download and unzip "ADB-Drivers" then navigate (see step 5.) to "android_winusb.inf"; next: choose "Android ADB Interface". ADB Drivers will now be installed.
II. Root
1. Download suitable root software:
a) 2.3.1: GingerBreak-v1.20.apk, SuperOneClick 1.7,
b) 4.0.3: SuperOneClick 2.3.1.0 (changed CN), SuperOneClick 2.3.3 (Changed by Verdeler).
2. Start GingerBreak.apk on tablet or SuperOneClick.exe on PC (run as administrator).
3. Click "root" within SuperOneClick -> done.
(03) How to: Flash a Firmware
I. Preparation
1. Choose and download an IMG (Firmware):
a) StockROM: Cube U9GT 2, Window N90, Visture V2, Easypad 970.
b) CustomROM: XDA (wackym), SlateDroid (s1eepy), SlateDroid (db260179), Moage (磨叽哥), FlashMyAndroid (prox32).
2. If necessary download "RKBatchTool".
3. Extra Driver shouldn't be needed, Win7 will recognize the device -> therefore don't install manually ADB-, or USB-Driver.
4. Charge Tablet to >70%
II. Flash
1. Turn tablet (off) and disconnect every cable and charger.
2. Start on PC "RKBatchTool.exe" and choose under the item "FW Path" an IMG (see I. Preparation).
3. Now press Volume (-) on tablet -> keep pressing and connect at the same time the tablet (upper microUSB port, not OTG) with PC -> as soon as you hear the PC is successfully connected or you see in RKBatchTool under "Connected Devices" a green light, then you can stop pressing Volume (-) and the tablet should be recognized from "RKBatchTool".
4. Click in RKBatchTool "Restore" (not Upgrade) and the flash process should begin; the first-time boot will last longer than normally - you can close RKBatchTool and disconnect the USB cable as soon as the tablet is booted.
good luck
(04) How to: Use Moage's ROMs
I. Preparation:
1. Download Moage's ROM and unzip: Link
2. Charge Tablet to >70%
3. Switch tablet (off) and disconnect every cable and charger
II. Flash Moage's ROM:
1. Moage's FlashTools:
a) Moage 4.3.5: Open "MoageRomFlash.exe" and choose how much space for applications you would like to have, don't get confused from chinese you will nevertheless see numbers those are important -> click the number you like most, after this the "MoageRKtool.exe" will start automatically
b) Moage x.x.x: when there is no "MoageRomFlash.exe" then start "MoageRKtool.exe" and go on with step 2.
2. Now press Volume (-) on tablet -> keep pressing and connect at the same time the tablet (upper microUSB port, not OTG) with PC -> as soon as you hear the PC is successfully connected or you see in MoageRKtool "Found RKAndroid...", then you can stop pressing Volume (-) and the tablet should be recognized from "RKBatchTool".
3. In "MoageRKtool" select all items except "Backup" and manually link to those files
=> then click at first "EraseIDB" (red circle), after that: click "Run"(blue circle) -> even when it is in chinese the buttons order will be the same.
4. Wait until the device is booted, then remove USB cable and close FlashTools.
Done.
Extra-Feature:
=> If your tablet wont boot anymore, and you don't want to lose your data and settings, then do this to fix the boot problem:
1. Start "MoageRKtool.exe" and select: "Loader", "Parameter", "Boot" and "System"
2. Click "Run" (don't click EraseIDB). Now it will replace just some important system files and the rest will remain.
(05) How to: Make Gameloft Games visible/installable
Two ways:
1. Modify manually "build.prop" /System (source):
=> you need to change 3 things:
ro.product.model=GT-P1000
ro.product.device=GT-P1000
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
2. Exchange the build.prop:
=> download an already modified "build.prop", e.g. source; then rename in "build.prop" and exchange the original "build.prop" in "/System" at tablet -> before that it would be wise to backup the original file
Hint: after changing or switching build.prop clear data from "Google Service Framework" and "Google Play Storage" then reboot
The result will be:
Extra Information: Optimizing build.prop
superb!!! Million Thanks..
Now i can try on moage rom now..
Waiting for the next tutorials!!!
Superb!

I have tried the stock v1.5 gingerbread with the Honeycomb ui from the Cube website and found it very fast and stable, also tried the Wackym v1.08 Ics and found that excellent, not quite as nippy but still excellent, I changed the built in Ics launcher for Apex launcher on the market and this improved the speed of the functionality, really well with tons of options!. Unfortunately on the Wackym firmware the flash is flaky with things like iPlayer etc but that is not down to him, as flash on Ics is not officially supported even if on the market the latest version states support for Android 4 devices. I am sure this will be fixed in the coming months though.

The "upgrade" button works just sometimes, e.g. if you upgrade from one Easypad ROM to another. But if you switch to a different ROM, then the "upgrade" button often doesn't work anymore. With "restore" you have a clean flash procedure. It can also be useful, for new devices or after flashing a new ROM, to do a "factory data reset" (in 2.3.1 under settings/private; 4.0.3 settings/Backup&reset). This will sometimes stabilize the firmware and prevent unexpected failures or bugs.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am downloading this one "U9GT 2固件V1.05(安卓2.3系统固件)" from cube's website. I assume this is the gingerbread version you were referring to.
The honeycomb ui is included in the rom or is that something you added? Apologies if it's a stupid question as this will be my first android tablet.
Seems a few people are sticking with gingerbread until the bugs are worked out of ICS. I recall reading that someone thought graphics looked clearer or sharper with ICS on the u9gt2...wondering if this was just the user's imagination or if there is some logic behind this.
Yes that 's the Gingerbread version and the honeycomb ui is built in, however I have installed Go Launcher Ex on the Gingerbread Rom makes it really quick. That replaces the honeycomb launcher but you still get all the other honeycomb parts like the bottom taskbar etc. Try it you won't regret it. As for the graphics looking better under Ics maybe the menus look clearer etc due to the new fonts but that is about it. The excellent IPs screen makes is look superb on Gingerbread and Ics.

Hi,
Please provide a link to download MoageRKtool.exe.
Thanks
the Moage tools are included in Moages ROMs - maybe they are also to big for uploading here

OP1 - Windows drivers installation
http://www.multiupload.nl/BR8XWD3TF4
[Source: MovilesDualSim.com]
(these drivers work with XP, and possibily with earlier Windows versions)<br>
OP2 - ROOT Access
First action: activate USB DEBUGGING mode.
a) Download and install SHUAME software
http://dl.shuame.com/files/1.0.9/ShuameSetup_1.0.9_general.exe
[Source - Shuame.com]
(it's in chinese, but the install is straight forward... next -> next, etc. )
b) Connect USB cable to the phone. Shuame will detect UMI X1, and you'll see a copy of your screen on the computer
c) Make this 2 clicks:
d) On next screen, click on the "blue" button to initiate the process. Phone will restart several times until finished
NOTICE: to un-root, just click the "root" button on the right (with the $ instead of the #)
OP3 - Install a Clockworkmod (CWM) based recovery console
With this step you'll be able to install non-official ROMS (not digitaly signed)
a) Download the new recovery image:
http://www.multiupload.nl/1210059PIM
[Source - MovilesDualSim.com]
b) Execute SHUAME, and click on button "Recovery":
c) click on the "blue" button -> and choose our IMG file -> click on the "blue" button again
The new recovery console will be installed. To access it:
- turn off Umi X1
- press POWER + VOL.UP, until the UMI logo shows up
- if you see a dead Android -> click HOME
- use vol+ and vol- keys to navigate thru options, and the POWER key to select.
Notice: some pre-recovery consoles have other keys, but the instructions are explicit.
Notice: you can make full backups with this recovery console.
OP4 - Install a new ROM
Most UMI X1 comes with ROM Android 4.0.4 - 20120914-215024
Other ROMS most used by the community:
- 4.0.4 (ICS) - "Samsung" style (LINK) - Source: gizhina.com
- 4.0.4 (ICS) - 20121118 - Official with several fixes - http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=176071&uk=3022536317
- 4.1.2 (JB) - 20130101 - Official - http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=210913&uk=3022536317
- 4.1.2 (JB) - 20130109 - Based on Official, with several fixes - http://www.romzj.com/resources/other.html?view=rom&id=6855&layout=default
- 4.1.2 (JB) - 20130118 - Based on Official, with several fixes - http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=270874&uk=3355610835
Notice: this last one needs some additional tweaks:
-> Install GoogleApps via recovery console http://www.multiupload.nl/F6XPEKN0M0
(GoogleApps also available here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip )
-> Copy these Calendar files to /system/app with root explorer and set correct permissions (same as the others) (Source: XDA-Developers - sonof)
-> Install the app "SmartHosts" from the GooglePlay/Market, and update your hosts file in order to make GoogleNews, Facebook, etc. working
[Source1 - ROMJZ.COM]
[Source2 - XDA-DEVELOPERS]
To install a new ROM:
a) copy the ROM ZIP file to the microSD card
b) enter recovery mode - look at the previous question
c) (advisable) make a full backup of the existing ROM
option Backup&Restore -> Backup (it will take long...)
the backup will be on the SD card, folder clockworkmod
d) select option "wipe data / factory reset" -> choose option "YES"
e) select option "install zip from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" -> choose the ZIP file -> "YES"
f) after "reboot system", the new ROM will be operational.
g) in case the ROM has "chinese" language by default, goto settings menu (the settings icon is easy to find) and choose your language:
OP5 - Readjust the internal storage size
Sometimes, after installing a new ROM, the ROM 4GB get wrongly shared between the "internal storage" and the "phone storage".
Since "phone storage" is a kind of SD which is less used than the "internal storage", is advisable to share the space like this:
2,5Gb: apps / internal storage
80Mb: phone storage
Remaining: ocuppied by the Android ROM
To do that, you just have to use one of these ZIP files:
2,5Gb (recommended) http://www.multiupload.nl/89HKJLG1BI
1,5Gb http://www.multiupload.nl/ZLVMPDAO1V
a) copy the ZIP file to the microSD card
b) Enter recovery console
c) Make a full backup
d) Apply update from SDCard -> choose the ZIP (1,5gb or 2,5gb)
e) reboot and restart phone - (it will say that the storage is corrupted, but don't mind it for now)
f) if the space is not OK (eg: still 500Mb), power off -> enter console recovery -> restore your backup
i) after reboot, and after having the desirable space (2.5gb or 1,5gb) you can go with Android suggestion, and format the SDCard -> the error will disapear. (Notice: you are not formating the microSD card, just the "internal phone" storage

OP6 - Correct problems with GPS
There have been a lot of comments about the GPS functionality on this phone, including several tweaks and tutorials, some with hardware changes, etc..etc...
What I have acknowledged, after having 2 original (no modifications) UMI X1 side by side (one with a KFT antenna, and other without it):
1- It's advisable to do some things in order to make the GPS work faster when you need it
2- GPS reception is not extraordinary good, but it also is not bad, and surely not worse than most Android models with GPS, including the ones from Samsung
3- Antenna changes, or metalic foil "upgrades" may or not be positive, regarding increased signal. Whoever wants may try it, but not necessarily needing to damage/open your UMI X1.
4- About the EPO files: there was some problems with Mediatek servers on Nov/2012, but they look to be solved now, so you won't need to download these files via a FTP client. Just let your phone do it!
However, if your EPO files are not downloading, (goes till 25% or 50% and restarts):
- Install app "Root Browser Lite"
- Goto /data/misc
- Change permissions of mtkgps.dat, EPO.DAT and EPO.MD5 to 7777 (read, write, execute, etc..)
- Check that now Android can download and recognize the EPO files (with 1 month between the 2 dates)
What you can DO to make your GPS better and faster:
a) Download GPS.CONF from your country (e.g. this is from Portugal: LINK). Copy it to /etc (delete the one that was there previously)
(alternatively, use the "PIMP MY ROM" software)
b) Reboot
c) Go to an excelent visibility site (if possible, with clear sky)
d) Enter Engineering Mode: dial nr *#*#3646633#*#*
e) EPO TAB: Enable EPO
f) A-GPS TAB: Enable A-GPS
--- Allow network initiated request
--- Allow EM notifications
g) GPS TAB: GPS(ON)
h) Use "GPS TEST" app to clear the A-GPS, and then start checking the sattelite coverage
i) If it is your first time: WAIT... WAIT.. WAIT... It can take 20mins or more to catch the first satellite. then the second one... slowly... until you get a FIX... and then the accuracy will progressively be better
On next usage (even after reboot), the GPS will be ready and probably get a fix in less than 30seconds!
j) Install a navigation Software (eg: Ndrive or one from GooglePlay)
[Source: several, buy mainly XDA-DEVELOPERS]
OP7 - Install Flash Player
Just install this app: http://www.multiupload.nl/72WANNVLKP
(it works on Android 4.1.2 JellyBean straight from the standard browser/Navigator, but you can also try Dolphin browser)

big thanks:good::highfive:
sadpart my X1 has only a plain black back cover xD i wanted the "carbon" lookalike one :crying: but i will survive :silly:
one thing ... on the description they write : 2G:GSM 850/900/1800/1900 3G:WCDMA 2100mhz normaly isnt the 900mhz 3G too? in my box its written 2G 800/850/1800/1900 3G 900/2100mhz, that bug me a a little since Sunrise have 3G under the 900mhz and i get only Edge when i activate data and 3G in setup, is it a known problem (i've seen some people getting 3g and other dont) does a fix exist or its only operator related?
on the other hand i use my X1 with only one sim (in the W slot since the G is for GSM so i doubt W wouldnt mean WCDMA) what i suspect is : if there is only one sim in the phone does it works by default on 2G only? or am i paranoid...
UMI x1 problems
Hi All
I was just following your procedure for CW recovery and the fist screen i got after the UMI screen was a list off chinese characters in to left corner.
Like other ndroid phones i have rooted I decided to get out and thinking the last set in the list was "power off" I tried that without luck now I have a screen with chinese charactors high lighted and the next line in english is camera with a space then home. Niether the power button or the volume button make any change.
Have I bricked the phone?
Can anyone help me please.
Thanks in advance Davoh:crying:
Hello All,
I have tried to root my UMI X1, but it keeps failing.
At first, I tried to follow the first step here. On my screen appeared prompt to restore my data from computer and the Shuame wizard showed me an image, that refers to accept the restoration of the data. (I didn't loose anything, because I had it in factory state...) After confirming, UMI just restarted and rooting process seems to be completed, but not correctly.
From two available buttons in wizard I guessed, that it was cancel and retry options.
I even try to access root explorer, but still "no root permission".
Now I was confused, so I try to do all from start. I wiped my phone, uninstall the wizard, set the english on phone, installed the wizards again and tried the whole procedure again.
...with the same result, of course.
So, I looked at the main page of Shuame, translate it to english through google and I found practically the same manual to root the phone.
And again, I followed the steps by this manual, and now.... surprisingly with the same NEGATIVE result.
At the end of that manual was reference to the advanced procedure how to root the phone, where I was supposed to download their .zip file, oped it with the wizard and let him upload the files to my phone.
Well, I followed this manual also. But the process has the same result.
Now I am desperate and I'm not able to find any other solution on the net. Please help.
I need to fix my GPS.
Hello All,
I left my UMI without battery for 2 days and I was searching for other solutions.
I don't know how, but after two days I tried the same procedure again. For my big surprise, I was able to root my phone and flash the CWM.
I was happy to finally see some results, but little bit to early.
I try one ROM here and it was installed without problems. Booting was a little longer, but nothing uncommon.
After boot I changed language to EN and tried to connect to my wifi at home. But now I found even bigger problem, than not working GPS.
My wifi stucked. The message was telling me "Turning on...", but it was there "like-forever".
I opened engeneering mode and looked at status of wifi - "UNINITIALIZED".
My guess was, that I lost drivers to wifi adapter, but I didn't how. So I started looking on internet for wifi problems with UMI X1... and didn't find even one solution. Nobody on the whole internet seems to have some problems with wifi.
OK, wifi out, I tried to fix GPS as well. Suprisingly no singal (or all satellites were on the other side of the planet. )
I came up with idea, it could be problem with this ROM, so I tried every one with the same steps like the first one. Still the same state.
This situation is driving me crazy and I am obviously loosing my mind.
Please, if anyone could be just a little helpful, I will VERY appreciate that. :crying::crying::crying:
Thank you all.

Make sure that you have your SIM in correct slot. For me mobile data were working correctly, but i had to switch SIM to "W" (W-CDMA).

Thanks for your response.
For now I'm using only the W-CDMA slot, but still no good.
Any other advice?
I found my X1 to be edge only, i also use the W slot only too but it seems he goes hspa when il not home (i live in a middle altitude place) i guess the reception quality isnt good as my One X.
In fact it does exactely like my huawei ideos x1 (U8180) so i guess chinese brand doesnt like mountains
More on it ask your operator wich band they use for 3g... Here Sunrise use the 900mhz wich is either GSM or WCDMA

Hi, i bought an UMI X1 recently and i want to install a rom to fix GPS problem, but unfortunately the phone isn't rooted, so i've tried using the last version of shuame, but i can't get the phone rooted. I start the wizard, with the phone connected, and after a while it shows the screen that talks about restore my data, but i don't understand what it says in the screen of shuame, because it squares the option "Restore my data" but i don't know if i have to press that. But, well, i press that button, then it restarts, and in the shuame screen it shows a blue button that if i press and it hasn't detected the phone after the restart, it shows some message, and until is recognized again by shuame, it shows like it's working again and after a while it shows again the "Restore my data" stuff, so i don't know if i have to press some button or just wait, anyone has experimented this problem?
There-s an image of the screen of shuame that i get (sorry i cannot insert images yet)

[ROM] Flashing the Starmobile Crystal with I-Mobiles IQ2 T18 Official ROM

***!!!WARNING!!!***
THIS WILL DEFINITELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY
BACK-UP YOUR CURRENT ROM (THIS IS A MUST!)
THIS PROCESS WILL ERASE ALL THE USER DATA ON YOUR PHONE! CREATE A BACK UP OF YOUR CONTACTS, IMPORTANT DOCS, EMAILS, MESSAGES, etc.
DISCLAIMER:
Do the following at your own risks. I will not be responsible if anything happens to your device. Steps are provided as a guide to help you
flash a different rom to your Starmobile Crystal. I've personally just tried using the procedure below for only 3 times but they were all
successful. ***Ultimately YOU are responsible for your own actions.***
HI TO ALL CRYSTAL USERS!
Here is a *translated* guide on how to flash the i-Mobile IQ2's latest T18 firmware to our Starmobile Crystal.
You don't need to have a rooted phone for this procedure.
I couldn't find a changelog for the T18 version so I'll just share the differences that I've noticed after flashing the ROM:
* A new setting for GPS could be found under Location services call GPS EPO --
-- Its a MediaTek proprietary off-line server based A-GPS technology. It supports up to 30 days satellite orbit prediction, which can
be used to greatly enhance user experience by improving GPS Time To First Fix (TTFF). -- as per the About EPO from the EPO settings in the
phone.
I've noticed an improvement with GPS if this feature is turned on. Before I couldn't get a fix when I'm inside my house but at least now I'm
getting one -- although its within a 200m radius. Works much better out in the open. The only downpart here is you would need to download the
EPO file for it to be effective. What if you're in a life and death situation where there's no way to get wifi or a data connection?
* Interface seems to a lot smoother. (Maybe because there's still a few apps installed)
* Games are a bit less laggy. I've tried Temple Run 2 and O2jAM and I've seen a bit of improvement there.
* Gyro sensor with Temple Run 1 is still not fixed :crying: || All other apps seem to be working fine with it.
* Battery drain is reasonable, just like the crystal's.
* OC'ing / UC'ing is still not possible.. :crying: || Still looking for a compatible kernel / ROM.
* a version of CWM could be flashed using MobileUncle Tools for this firmware! \ (^_^) /
* The T18 firmware has LED flash enabled for video capture -- the T10 version which I initially tried did not.
* THe T10 firmware had a red "x" for sim 2 located at the status bar since I didn't had a sim 2 inserted and I couldn't get it off -- This was
fixed in the T18 firmware.
* Haven't noticed any bugs except when the phone is charging and the battery has a low percentage -- everything becomes laggy! But I did had
the same experience with the Crystals firmware too.
So HERE WE GO -- ONTO THE GUIDE
THINGS THAT YOU WOULD NEED
1.] SP Flash_Tool
2.] i-Mobile IQ2 T18 ROM -- Its technically a T17+ rev.
3.] ADB Drivers, phone drivers - This can be obtained via PdaNet and manually installing the driver from the SP Flash_Tools folder
4.] A computer running on Windows 7
5.] Basic knowledge of flashing ROMS is a plus!
Step 1
* Download all the files below and extract the .rar files into seperate folders *
- Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v15.7z -
http://www.mediafire.com/?cnnkb7fkjav8b0k
- PdaNetA4013.exe -
http://www.mediafire.com/?30i3p5badhczzhy
- recoveryIQ2v17.img -
http://www.mediafire.com/?8klxfo4q672xxrp
- SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1222.00.rar -
http://www.mediafire.com/?b7c1e88teokmnkb
- i-Mobile IQ2 T18 update -
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7V7eS44lBLedXNWeUEtRktMUlk/edit?usp=sharing&pli=1
Step 2
* Install the USB drivers of your phone. *
Installing ADB drivers via PdaNet
- Install PdaNet and when asked if you would like to install the drivers - select yes > Other > OK;
- If you get a pop up that the driver is not signed, just select install anyway. You'll be prompted to connect your phone to
your PC - do so. Once installation is complete, you can unplug your phone
Installing the Drivers for the Preloader
- Turn off your phone, remove the battery and connect your phone to your PC.
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Device Manager and look for the USB driver for MT65xx Preloader (this flashes on and
off every 5 secs or so) then right click it and select Update Driver.
- Select the "Browse option" > "Let me pick.." > Let the Show all devices highlighted then click Next > Have Disk then navigate
to the folder where you extracted SP Flash_Tools
- Open the folder > Open new usb driver > Open the Win7 folder and select usb2ser_Win7 for 32-bit systems and usb2ser_Win764
for 64-bit
- Let the drivers install. Once done, unplug the USB cable from your phone.
Step 3
* Flashing the ROM *
- Open flash_tool.exe from the SP Flash_Tool folder
- Once you have the program loaded, click on Scatter-loading found at the right hand side buttons of the interface
- Navigate to the directory where you extracted the T18 ROM and open the IQ2 LBAMW01.1.0.1.2T18A1229_M121 folder

- Click the Format button at the upper left portion of the Interface; Dont change any setting on the pop-up window, just click OK

- You'll know that flashing was successful once you see a pop-up box with a "green" circle. You wont miss it - seriously!
- You can unplug your phone from the pc and turn it on. You should see a green i-mobile logo instead of the Starmobile logo.
- The phone would take a while to boot up after updating, don't worry -- its normal.

9- Reboot your phone.
Now, once you place your phone in silent mode, it will stay silent.
Now, I've also tried to edit these fields to change Model number and Build number on the Settings > About phone screen.

Thanks!!
Dear OP,
I flashed T18 succesfully from their Thai website. However, I just noticed after flashing that my orientation and magnetic sensors are no longer working. when i checked the specs of Starmobile Crystal, it says it has G sensor. Checking also my crystal, it says it has yamaha 530 magnetic and orientation sensors. I just want to know if you were able to extract the stock ROM of crystal and provide a download link somewhere? I tried to flash my stock ROM but found out that the preloader bin file is corrupted.
Overall IQ2 T18 edition is an excellent ROM, fast GPS and no bloat apk's. Im just not comfortable seeing that my compass is no longer working.
Here is the Custom rom i.e SENSE based Custom rom released for Star Mobile Astra:

Also Contains TWRP recovery.
WORKED!

THIS PROCESS WILL ERASE ALL THE USER DATA ON YOUR PHONE! CREATE A BACK UP OF YOUR CONTACTS, IMPORTANT DOCS, EMAILS, MESSAGES, etc.

flash a different rom to your Starmobile Crystal.
