Help with returning Galaxy Note 10.1 to Stock. - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay here is the long drawn out story....
Got impatient for JB 4.1.2 to roll out and flashed the German GT-N-8010 4.1.1 onto device....ran great.
Now I want to get my device back to GT-N8013 4.1.2. so here is what I've done.
Flashed via Odin ICS 4.0.4, then rooted installed triangle reset device.
Now first I tried to flash KIES_HOME_N8013UEUCMA3_N8013XARCMA3_813049_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 however everytime I flash it via Odin it fails and I have to go back to 4.0.4 KIES_HOME_N8013UEALI3_N8013XARALI3_1081475_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 Now when I check my status after reflashing 4.0.4 I'm back to custom custom instead of all stock????
So now I tried this....I flashed 4.0.4, rooted, triangled and checked status...all was back to stock. Re-flashed 4.0.4 to kill the root, when I registered for software updates it tells me I'm custom and cannot get updates????
What am I doing wrong? I'm beyond frustrated right now. I have the latest ROM's but I cannot flash via Odin 4.1.2 as it fails everytime. How do I get this done and back to stock running 4.1.2 Please someone guide me like I'm 4

To my knowledge :
0- full reset and wipe cache
1- root your device
2- install samsung galaxy s CSC and use it to change your CSC to your country or the one you want to get updates from
3- triangle away to make sure to rest the counter
4- download the firmware you need again , maybe from another server and make sure it is fully downloaded
5- try it with another version of odin , and make sure to turn kies off ,and make sure you have latest drivers installed .

Why do you need to change the CSC? E.g. I'm using UK stock JB ROM deodexed, does it mean the region has been changed to the UK? Where else can I download the firmware? I'm in Malaysia and can't find the firmware for download.

had the same scenario....german 4.1.1.....i downgraded to the official 4.0.4 (had to wipe cash and restore device during that process as it got stuck at logo)....then rooted, triangle away, all was stock......then waited for ota update.....nd now i have 4.1.2 all stock

[Q] Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available

What gives? I'm using my P5113 and i want to official stock unroot my tab. So what i did was apply triangle away and wipe to stock ICS firmware via mobile odin (which does not raise the flash counter). I would then upgrade to JB firmware OTA and now when i click for updates i get the "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available." message. Even if i check about<status it says my device status is custom. This method should "officialize" my tab 2, but what gives? I need it to be Official unrooted stock firmware with no signs of modification. Please help!
Edit:
I once again did the same method but i am now back to ICS stock where i am able to update to JB but i am choosing not to, If i check the status, it now comes up as modified instead of custom. Is there a way to show stock?
Ummm , yeah, stock is stock , get rid of any crapware or root it , it becomes unofficial

Even if i reflashed the official firmware and removing the flash count?
If so is there a way for Samsung to know the warranty is void? The method i follow is said to work from a guide here at XDA.

Are you using Custome Recovery.?
Flash with Stock Recovery. I think it should resolve the issue.

Thats's right if you need back to orginal stock system easiest way is :
- flash it to official stock samsung rom - (best way by odin so it will also put back default recovery program)
- root this stock firmware
- use triangle away to reset flash counter
- flash it once again with odin to stock rom (to unroot it)

I was thinking of doing that but thought it was a dumb idea (i'm always doubting myself). Now that you mentioned im thinking it would work. I'll give it a try and let you know.

This didn't seem to work, i used mobile odin pro to flash to stock again while i had stock recovery. I think it still raises the flash counter. Do you think it would work if i unroot it with super su?
You are still rooted with stock rom? That will be problem. If you flashed with mobile odin pro there was an option to root rom while being flashed if i remember correctly try to untick that option
I can confirm that the Super SU method works. I am now official. Thanks for the help everyone!

Dude,
Follow this procedure.
1 Flash ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM)
2 Root the Device
3 Clear Flash Counter from Triangle Away
4 Do wipe data/factory reset through CWM
5 Install Mobile Odin
6 Extract Stock Recovery (Recovery.img) from Stock Rom.
7: Flash it Stock Recovery from Mobile Odin
This is Pure Stock Rom with Root. You should be able to Update your device with OTA updates

This is exactly what i did multiple times and i made sure it was an unrooted flash vith mobile odin, it still seemed to raise my flash counter by 1.
So instead i did your method but rooted it afterwards and then resetted the flash counter. Later i unrooted the device with super su and wiped data using stock recovery. I am now back to normal.

Software updates for rooted phone

Hello,,,,,:laugh::laugh:
I have rooted my phone ( using stock rom not custom)
when I check for software update this message comes :
your device hase been modified , software updates are not available
Is there a way to overcome this ?
Or rooted phone software updates available via odin only ....
You can try disabling the update service. And yes, you can't get ota updates. You must flash updates via odin, which is imo not a disadvantage. If you just flash updates via odin, you also don't need to do any wipes.
edit: You need to re-root after updating ROM, stock rom will also bring back stock recovery.

Multiple posts say no or corrupt OTA updates if rooted .
Use Kies to update .
jje
I would just do it with Odin. Pretty fast and reliable, takes me ~3-5 min to flash a whole stock FW (ca. 1,2 GB packed). And no, you won't loose data doing this.
Don't try to do OTA if rooted/on custom recovery!
To know if there is an update just check sammobile every now and then.
easy to fix

Get yourself triangle away - it resets the counter - I had the same problem with stock rom
There are a couple of threads how to do it. Not complicated great software.
Kies will tell you about any new update - dont use kies for actual update as you will loose root and you have to start all over again
Use odin to do yr incremental update -again there are several threads here
I personally just want to be rooted no custom room
Happy with my simple root

Actually, if he only flashed CWM to root and no custom ROM at all, the counter will be zero. Flashing a stock ROM with ODIN will not increase Counter.
I used framaroot app.
Installed superuser and sam exploit. It stated it was modified...crap!. I ran it again using supersu and frodo exploit and everything now states official. Including in download.
Im running stock 4.1.2 with root and everytjing official. I didnt use triangle away.

[Q] n8010 - how to get back to stock after flashing the n8000 4.4.2 leak ?

I flashed my stock unrooted n8010 with the n8000 leak files using odin, I did not used the modem. All good and everything working.
Now I want to get back to stock n8010 jb. When in download mode the device apears like n8000 and odin is not able to flash the stock n8010 firmware.
I installed twrp and rooted, modified buildprop to apear like n8010 and tried to flash a custom rom for n8010, no luck, I get a message that the rom is for n8010 and to try a rom for my device.
How can I trick twrp or odin to make them flash n8010 fw/rom ?
I don't have a nandroid backup,
Edit : I managed to flash 4.0.4 with odin (N8010XXALGC_N8010OXXALG4_COA). After the flash it was stuck at samsung logo, I rebooted in recovery (power+volume up, release only power at samsung...) and wiped cache, wiped data and reset. Now the device booted with android 4.0.4 and I'm downloading a 568.29 MB update. I'll see what happends next...
The goal is to get back to stock jb, official (with triangle away I gues)
Edit: I updated to JB, but when in download mode the device is still N8000, so the problem is still not solved.

What version of Odin are you using ?Did you try to remove micro SD and full erase you tablets internal memory card? And why not 4.1.2 you install and not 4.0.4?
Because 4.1.2 gives me error, tried 3 versions of Odin: 3.04, 3.09, and 1.85. Tried 4.1.2 from 3 different sources to avoid a bad download. I can only flash 4.0.4, android shows me n8010 but in download mode is still n8000. I have no idea why, I just can't get rid of the n8000 in download mode.
Maybe I need to flash separate files, just like I did with 4.4.2, bootloader. Ap , csc but I don't know where to get those files for 4.1.2, I only have .tar.md5 files.
I attached a ss with odin eror when trying to flash stock 4.1.2

Did you have success installing the bootloader of the leak kitkat rom? Cause mine failed always, the AP file is the 1 working on me only. I have downloaded this TAR_MD5_PACKAGER here( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42393470&postcount=2 ) that I'm using to repack the stock and using 7zip to extract the content of the .tar.md5 files, maybe you can try repacking it seperately using this 2 program. And try to install it using Odin( I'm using Odin 1.85). By the way you can still install custom 4.1.2 rom's right, specifically for 8010 ? Lastly why do you wanna go back to stock 4.1.2 do you have problem with the leak rom?
P.S. Did you format your internal memory as I suggested? Cause once I install back to 4.1.2 have error before and have to install twice the rom( that is according to my experience which some think its not relate to installing error).maybe you can try to format all from the system to the internal memory via CWM recovery /mount section. Then try to install again and remove the SD card too.
I had no problems with the kit Kat files, flashed at the same time bl, csc and ap (no modem). I used odin 3.09. I managed to get back to 4.1.2 by flashing stock 4.0.4 then using OTA (im surprised it worked) . Someone else flashed directly 4.1.2 with mobile odin and worked, but with odin from pc you get an error.
The problem is that in download mode appears like n8000; hopefully, when official kk for n8010 is out we'll be able to fix that.

The problem is not solved lol. I just gave up for the moment. It's a miracle that I didn't bricked the damn thing today
I'll stay with a 4.1.2 stock n8010 fw that is using an n8000 4.4.2 bootloader. Sexy
Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk
Well from everything I've read it seems the problem is that when we flashed the kitkat leak, flashing the bootloader is what allowed us to flash n8000 over our n8010. This could be why when we flash back using odin we get the error cause the bootloader isn't being flashed too so it's trying to flash n8010 onto what it reads as n8000. It seems that there are only a few solutions. 1we need to find a n8010 bootloader file which so far seems to be impossible to find. 2you can flash an original n8010 cmw or twrp back up it will return you to 4.1.2 n8010 but the bootloader will still be n8000. If this option isn't available to you then you can try 3 download a custom rom I have the darkmans customers stock as a backup and it still works going back to simple stock n 8010 but again the bootloader stays as n8000...
Basically until we can get an n8010 bootloader we are stuck with it...
I even rooted the 4.4.2 leak and tried to flash a custom 4.4.2 made for n8010 and did not let me (based on the same leak i think, so the same bootloader) and failed, twrp sees the device as n8000 and did not allowed me to use n8010 rom.

I think I read somewhere that twrp can have issues with flashing 4.4.2 roms it needs to be the most up to date version of twrp... I tried cm 11 before and had to change to Cwm. But I went back to twrp and now it works
I used twrp 2.7, I think it's the latest.
Edit:
I reached a binary counter of 118
I used triangle away and reset it, however I'm still stuck with the n8000 4.4.2 bootloader.
N8000 bootloader
Same issue here, stuck on N8000 bootloader on my GT-N8010. After endless research I still can't find any solution but now the thing is, the official 4.4.2 KK is availble for the GT-8010, you guys think this is the solution, because I have read that though updating to the official Rom (via Odin Mobile) because Odin desktop fails, the device would still be stuck on the annoying N8000 bootloader?
Yes, even if you flash the n8010 4.4.2 with mobile Odin you will still have the damn n8000 bootloader.

Any way of downgrading the Bootloader, I've heard of a nandroid backup but I didn't do that before updating, is it possible to find one on the web?
You need a nandroid from a similar device, is possible but not sure if it will solve the problem.

I thought the official Rom would fix this but visibly no. So we don't have a choice of being stuck with the damn N8000 bootloader?

N8010 on N8000 bootloader
Hi guys, isn't there a solution about this yet? I have the exact same problem with the N8000 bootloader, my device is a N8010 16GB from mexico and flashed the leaked N8000 kk stock rom. I will still look for a solution. TKS to all of you.
Mean time solution
Hi Guys, I found a way to flash te new N8010XXUDNE4 on the stuck n8000 bootlader, the bootloader problem remains, but it is possible to flash the n8010 stock rom via mobile odin, I did it and it's fully working, But I flashed a N8010XXUDNE4 customized without sboot.bin so it can be flashed via PC odin too, I'm still not allowed to post links here cause I'm new in forums so if you want the link to that rom let me know how to provide it to you.
Possible solution?
Have a look at my thread, does that look a viable approach?

[Q] Note 10.1 (N8000) cannot upgrade to KitKat, Odin, KIES and OTA fails

Hello everyone
So, I fixed the problem of my tablet being bricked by installing the factory stock 4.0.4 ROM on it, and it has been my go-to resolution for the past couple of days, while I have been struggling to get the upgrade I have been waiting for, for so long.
However, no matter what I seem to do, my device just will not accept the upgrade, and I cannot understand why. Here is what I have done.
Number 1
My android was running a stock 4.1.2 downloaded from Sammobile. I am not sure of the country/region I downloaded at the time, but I think it was either German or from the U.K. I bought my N8000 in China and flashing the firmware to get access to Google stuff was the first thing I did and then upgraded via Sammobile, formerly samfirmware I think. When I saw the 4.4.2 KitKat on Sammobile I downloaded the German upgrade, flashed via Odin like I always had done, and it failed.
I then went on to try via KIES and it did say, that a firmware upgrade was available, however it got stuck and my device bricked. Which led to my 2-day marathon flashing of roms to try and fix it.
Number 2
Flashed the factory 4.0.1 rom using ODIN 1.83, factory reset + cache wipe and then Odin flash the 4.4.2 - Failed in ODIN.
Number 3
Flashed the factory 4.0.1 rom using ODIN 1.83, factory reset + cache wipe and then - Used OTA from settings to upgrade my device. This works until 4.1.2 and then I am told that my device has been modified and that no upgrades are available.
I then try to Odin Flash the Indian 4.4.2 from Sammobile - Failed in Odin
Number 4
Flashed the factory 4.0.1 rom using ODIN 1.83, factory reset + cache wipe and then OTA to 4.1.2. Then I connect to KIES to download the firmware upgrade and it fails and device bricks.
Number 5
Flashed the factory 4.0.1 rom using ODIN 1.83, factory reset + cache wipe and then OTA to 4.1.2. Then I root the device with Framaroot and install triangle away and use the system status modification to trick my tablet into thinking, or realizing, that it is in fact an official.
The OTA upgrade is now available, 800MB downloaded and installation begins, but the process fails and I am left in 4.1.2. I try again, same result. I flash via Odin, it fails, I try Kies it bricks.
Is it just me or is my tablet actively fighting me on this?
Is there anything I can do? Any suggestions? China is not exactly full of Samsung Service Centers, although I am sure a big city like Chongqing has one or two?

Trying to get my phone back to stock

Hello,
I rooted my s5 way back when it first came out but I haven't upgraded the firmware at all. From what I remember I had trouble installing a custom recovery so the phone is only rooted. I would like to bring it up to the most current version of android. What's the easiest way to do that? I'm on baseband version G900PVPUIAND2.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I found this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2742994 which had a link to the stock factory image but sammobile doesn't seem to be hosting it anymore. Is there another reliable place that I can get it? Or would just doing a factory reset of my phone make it so I can start taking OTA's again?
The latest stock firmware for G900V is Marshmallow QC1. You can download it here and use ODIN to flash it:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767155677
If you want to root it you can use CF-Autoroot in ODIN. This will trip Knox if not already tripped (but probably doesn't matter on an older phone like this).
https://download.chainfire.eu/408/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-kltespr-kltespr-smg900p.zip
If you want to install TWRP you can use ODIN again:
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys5qualcomm.html
Good luck.
