Recurring calendar event synch problem - solved - EVO Shift 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had been having issues of recurring calendar events not synching in newer ROMs based on ICS/CM9 and JB/CM10. This was on an exchange calendar, but I had read of the same issue on Google calendar. I think the issue was related to recurring events having no end date.
What worked for me was to open the recurring event in Outlook (on a PC), add an end date, save, and then sync. After fixing just one like that, I could then see all my recurring events on my phone. I changed it back to no end date, refreshed again, and the events remained as they should on my phone. Just to check, I rebooted, and all was still good. This worked for me. YMMV

Birthdays Sync Problem

I've been using I-mate Jamin for more than a year now with few problems in Syncing my Outlook (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes.. )
Recently, the device started slowing down considerably, and failed to sync with Outlook. I did a hard reset & started all over. after many trials & hard resets, the problem kept arising, and I discovered that the problem occurs when I sync the Calendar to the device.
So I decided to sync only the past 6 months of Appointments instead of the whole thing. Turns out this is not the problem. I narrowed down the Problem to Birthdays. When I sync the Birthdays, the problem happens, all other Calendar appointments are OK.
I tried deleting all Birthdays and recreating them one by one (by re-saving the contacts that contain Birthdays) thinking that I have some corrupt ones, but even that didn't solve the problem. The newly created Birthdays still slowed down the device & prevented Sync and i even had to Hard reset the device again..
I can't figure out the problem at all.. these birthdays were on my device for the whole year, I didn't change anything subtle (like new ROM or new Application).. the problem just happened out of the Blue and I can't seem to solve it... I even tried syncing the Birthdays one by one.. the problem seems random, and to prove it, I re-created the birtdays as I said above..
Can anyone help???

[Q] Deleted calendar entries keep reappearing on Xoom

I have a few recurring events in my calendar that I deleted on specific days only through my desktop. The calendar is set to sync with my Xoom, but they never disappear. I delete them by hand on the Xoom as well, and they re-add themselves back to my calendar soon after. What gives, suggestions?

Outlook Exchange Calender Sync Issues

My phone isn't syncing all of my Meeting requests. I created about 20 of them but it's only syncing a few. Any ideas?
I deleted Exchange from my phone and then set it up again and that didn't fix the issue. Also hard reset my phone for kicks. Running stock Sensation. Same before and after the OTA update I got today.
The meetings are on my calender in Outlook, but some aren't showing up on my phone.
It's driving me nuts. The dates are correct and all of that. Don't get it. I manually entered them on my phone and they showed up as a double entry in Outlook on my laptop. So it's syncing from phone to Exchange fine, but missing some entries that I created in Outlook.
What version of Exchange are you running?
If you delete one of the entries (that isn't showing on the phone) from Outlook and re-create it, does it then show up?
Are any of the missing events set in the last 2 weeks? This is the default sync period on my phone, so any events scheduled for before then won't sync.

[Q] Error syncing contacts from Live

I'll be as brief as possible. If you need clarification, just ask. I don't expect to solve this problem quickly, but any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I cannot sync contacts with my main Live account (which is set up with Windows Live Domains). Whenever I leave the Contacts option checked, the phone displays "Attention required" after a few minutes of syncing, and then "Error 0x86000106". It also briefly displays "Contacts: 1/0".
Emails and appointments sync flawlessly on that account, and contacts syncing works flawlessly with *any other* accounts I have, even with another Live account with a custom domain.
Here's what I tried so far, without success:
- Posted this problem to the Microsoft Answers forum (no help)
- Hard resetted the phone
- Changed phone's time zone
- Changed phone's region and language
- Enabled logging (where's that log stored?)
- Removed and readded all my contacts (I have about 120 contacts)
- Tried syncing with just one or two contacts
- Tried syncing via both WiFi and OTA
- Tried changing some personal info on the account profile
I've actually found that error code on Microsoft's website, but they say it's related to Outlook/Exchange and Activesync (it's trying to sync a corrupted item, and removing the offender causes the sync to continue). However, I cannot imagine how that corruption could be possible as I am not using Outlook.
Any ideas? Is it possible to "clear" the account in any way?
Bump... Anything? Anyone? I had resetted the phone a few more times, still no luck.
Try this
Uncheck sync contacts, then sync the whole thing. Then check sync contacts and see if it works
wpxbox, thanks for the reply. I can't uncheck to sync contacts now because this is my primary ID (I can only uncheck email). However, I did some tests a while ago and used this ID as a secondary account - unchecking Contacts would yield a successful sync, but the error would come back if I check Contacts again.
Just as you said above, its probably trying to sync a corrupted contact, and removing the corrupted contact should let it sync successfully. It doesn't matter if you are using Outlook or not, the server itself is a Microsoft Exchange server, and very rarely, something like this happens.
More than likely, you'll have to find the offending contact and try to sync again.
I would export all my contacts, delete them from my Live account (clear it out completely), then separate the exported contacts into groups of 10 or 20 contacts each, and then import each group, and sync after each import. This will allow you to make sure your contacts all sync successfully, and if there is a corrupted one, you can narrow it down to the last group you imported of 10 or 20 contacts. Makes it easy to track down the culprit.
That would be a god way. Good idea
prjkthack, thanks for the reply but I already did that. Phone won't sync even with an empty contact list. Still could be a corrupt contact, but where would it be? I used Outlook to access the contacts list and see if something comes up but no luck either (btw, Outlook syncs flawlessly).
And before someone say it, I already contacted Microsoft about it but they just keep sending me back and forth between the Microsoft Answers team, the Windows Live Mobile team and the Windows Live forum without giving me any solutions at all.
Nothing? Oh well, I'm doomed....

Phone deleting past calendar events

Hi
I'm having a problem with my Sensation XE where it seems to be deleting past events in my Windows Live (Hotmail) Calendar. As I use my calendar as a record of when and where I worked this is obviously very frustrating. I have done a bit of research and it was suggested to set my phone to sync 'all' calendar events, but today I noticed another event had been deleted, so that doesn't seem to be helping. I need to be able to view the calendar from my phone, but I can't afford to keep on loosing events like this.
Has anyone else seen this issue? Any ideas on how to stop it from happening?
Cheers
Mark
