[Q] permission denied when rooting verizon gs3 (sch-1535) - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Alright, so I previously had a GS3 rooted and didn't have any problems going through the process. I am trying to root again however I keep getting a permission denied log. I have been following max lee's video how to root gs3 on mac and have googled this, cannot find a whole lot of info.
Any advice?
Thanks

This is the new method after the OTA update:

Just reread and see that you're using a mac, which I'm not familiar with any methods that work.

Is this going to be compatible with mac?

No that one is not compatible with mac. I dont know why they haven't made Odin 3.07 for mac yet! Frustrating.

It is very frustrating! Do you know any alternatives to go about this with a mac?

None on xda. You'll need someone with a Windows pc to properly root.

seeing as i cant post links go to galaxys3roots dot com or dot org i forgot but they have a ton of stuff.

They did create Odin for the Mac it is called Heimdall. I just googled that as I am typing this post. It is not hard to do some research before saying that there isn't any alternatives for the Mac.

soc is short for superoneclick (or system on a chip or many other things but i was talking about superone click) anyway you need the newwest version of super one click to root android 2.3.3 and up. i believe it is version 2.2
i havent tried it but i hear it takes a while. you could also bypass that and flash a kernel with root through heimdall. it's a bit like odin but doesnt flsh .tar archives. it flashes the raw images (zimage for the kernel) so you have to extract the zimage out of a .zip file. you could also make your own odin package but that means you shoud be doing it in a terminal window(look up cygwin, or install linux or borrow a mac). though archive managers like win rar and 7zip can work i have had issues doing it in windows (as well as success but dont want to risk it)

I did the first step and sure enough it returned the phone to stock. I've been using Serendipity VII and thought I'd try this return to stock to see if my HDMI would work. It sure has the touch and feel of stock firmware, yet shows it's Android version 2.3.6 I mean it's got all the ATT bloatware, Samsung apps, the works. I go into settings and can't find TV out in the Display settings like Serendipity (could find the button but it didn't work) now that I'm "stock" I can't find the button! LOL
Where I am at this point is reading the stuff about getting root again as I have no superuser icon anymore.
Not sure if I should proceed to step two, looks to be fairly recent material...

Ok I did that but am reluctant to proceed after all the reading I did. I have a usuable handset still but the battery life sucks compared to S7 and still don't have HDMI, anyone have experience on what happens if you do the second step? It says you can get CWM and flash (I'm ready to flash back to Serendipity) but I don't see where it gives you root and I'm chicken to click it thru and try, been reading...

Mine did the same thing using "auto" for exploits.
I then tried "psneuter". It warned me that it might not work on my FW version, then worked!
So what is supposed to work doesn't, and what is not supposed to work does, go figure.

Toss it my way. Correct none of the unlock apps will work for the I727, I've tried many. Your IMEI is still in the database, It is just AT&T not wanting to give it to you. Your best bet would be to use one of the MANY online sources. There are several that offer unlocking for under $10.00 others that offer for around $30.oo ish. Find one in your budget that will work for your time constraints and go with them.
As far as busy box, you have a few options from the market that will quickly and easily install it for you.

Rooting/unlocking the vzw gs3 sch-i535 with a Macbook running lion OSX?

I have a question about my galaxy s3 sch-i535 model from Verizon Wireless. I have understood that it looks easiest to do this process via windows, and I have messaged and inquired with many ppl about the best way to complete this process using a mac. Is there a guide I can use to do this? I've used windows computers before to do this and have eooted a motorola bionic but I havent been successful in finding a guide for doing this. Any help would greatly be appreciated (I actually even searched this site or tried to at least). Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you want you can send me a email at [email protected] . For one your in the wrong section my good ol fellow and 2 the rooting boot loader unlock procedure only works on windows. I too use Mac. So here is how to solve the issue. Do it from a windows PC or get VMWare or Parallels and run a virtual machine of windows on your Mac. Note windows installation disk, .IMG is not included. Good luck.

root using odin for MF1?

i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for root on the new MF1 using odin or is it best to go with the one click casual root method?
To be honest, there are some connectivity issues with the Casual r734. I'd suggest using Casual r634 on Rootz which will connect just fine. Make sure you have Java 7 installed and the Samsung drivers.

Root for mk2 update

Root is achievable on the new mk2 ota update using the notoriously called "questionable" VROOT. **edit** its questionable because the website is in chinese, not a reputable developer so use at your own risk. That being said I did a full factory restore before doing this No personal info stored and immediately deleted their bootleg Super su app. Reguardless the instructions are pretty straightforward and easy for even a newbie to do with the explanation given. Just google "vroot xda" and you will find threads they don't mention att galaxy s4 but believe me it works I have stock 4.3 with root right now with titanium backup installed and crapware frozen.
I know some people already know this im making a thread on this for ppl that dont know yet and have beem searching like I have before I found it. Any questions feel free to ask as we are here to help each other against applesung I mean samsung

Please research this method before doing anything that potentially puts your private data and IMEI number at risk.

From what I've seen, there hasn't been much way in reversing vroot/kingo to a viable known safe method; am I wrong? Is there development being done on a new root still?
Who knows with all these new phones coming out all the time... we can just use the known methods that work even if they werent meant for the devices we have

I believe the problem with vroot was it opens your phone up to a Chinese server and most antivirus applications deemed it as malware.

Its not samsung...its any ATT phone now...ATT stated a while go they will no longer be supporting phones with unlocked bootloaders...in other words every phone from ATT will likely have a locked bootloader :/
And to the op...from my understanding the fact that its in chinese wasnt what was in question...it was the fact that it connects to a chinese server, and since its rooting they can obtain any data off your phone with out you knowing...could be stored credit cards, photos, contacts, imei...or nothing at all, but there is the possibility

There is a possibility that the government is pulling all your info at any time too. You want root you take the risk Someone took the time to make this root method work reguardless where he is from he is getting his 15 minutes of fame

You might have to uninstall your USB drivers then have it reinstalled and make sure you have the new Samsung USB drivers. This is a guide on how yo uninstall the drivers. http://www.faqforge.com/windows/uninstall-usb-drivers-on-windows-7/

Of course there is no danger in someone taking your IMEI, cloning your phone and using your service on your dime... or grabbing your bank account info because you use a banking app, or buying stuff on Amazon or eBay with your account, etc.
I cannot emphasize enough that anyone thinking about this method of rooting their phone do some research first.

Except the goverenment already has just about all your info...as others have stated...the people who made this root option have the ability to obtain any info from your phone, and have the ability to use it with a malicious intent...
But your right, you want root you take the risk...as for me ill wait for a confirmed safe method of rooting, so i dont have to take that risk
