Hi everyone,
for the last two months I've experienced a serious problem with my sensation; the phone shuts down inmediatly withouth any fixed reason, sometimes happens when I unlock the screen, others when taking a picture, also when playing music, etc. Then from one shut down to the next boot the battery level change drasticaly, from 60% -> 20% , then in a while another shut down happens and the battery comes back to 50%, I honestly don't understand. The shuts down always appear with a battery level <60%
This behaviour happened to me with ViperS 1.6.0-2 , CM10 and now again with Hypernonsense. I have two batteries, the official one and Anker, also happened with both batteries.
Here is a logcat, hope someone could give me a hint, honestly I cannot trust in going out with it anymore.
Thanks!
PS: Maybe the most interesting part of the logcat is till 2:00 am

Even i had the same problem before my phone went crazy.. doesnt charge and gets overheated.
I have the EXACT same problem. Or had, i tried the trick of making the battery tighter and so far (for more than 2 weeks) i haven't been getting reboots on CM10. Used a piece of paper .

Seriously? so just putting a piece of paper in the upper side or how?
Had the same problem with my old HTC Desire, lately the batteries started to drain very fast. I don't know what exactly causes this problem of shutdown, but it became me a phone killer.

Okay...?
The majority of the people here have rooted.
It won't help. I have deleted the batterystats on mine phone more than 20 times in the last 3 days and there is no change nor hope!
Let me rephrase by saying your ROOTED phones battery stats might be lying to you.
And for the guy who tried it three times and failed. I don't think you took the time for fully discharging the phone. That's right I'm calling BS.
Anyway got to go my battery just dropped 30%
Just wanted to let you guys know that this is completely true in my case. The other night around 2am I went to sleep with the battery around 68%. When I woke up 4hours later for work my phone was turned off. I then plugged it in and my battery was at 0%.
I was on the perfect storm Rom. I then switched to das bamf. Still happens. Tried bump charging and 0-100 charging and its helped but when I reboot the phone the battery shows about 7% less then where it was.

I think that is thy the stock battery icons don't show an exact %, b/c they haven't been able to make it work right. Don't worry though i believe that the devs will get it before HTC.
Ok my battery was just now at 50%. I restarted and now showing 41%. I don't know what's going on.

As I said, you can charge and discharge all day long, it won't help!
Thank you for reposting this. So sick and tired of people complaining about dropping 10% in a few minutes after a full charge.

I think this is a glitch. It drops like crazy after restart but then stays there until it "catches up" I guess.

So far,I have only rooted my phone, not a custom rom. I either have a crappy battery life, which seems better when I shut 4g down, or there is a glitch on the metering. My .02 worth.
Hi everybody, it's been a while i'm trying to fix that problem.
My Sensation XE was overheating 'til 40 degreas sometimes (everytime).
I think it's not a problem with the kernel, or the rom, or anything else in the firmware... I follow some xda fans advices and bought a Saner 1900mah battery, and it simply fixed the problem, my phone never pass over 25,6 degreas it's the maximum i saw. That's for the overheating problem.
For the battery drain problem, my phone is running on the battery since 1 day and 3h 27m'' and i still have 36% of battery Oo. I up a screenshot

So i hope that topic will help, it was just 10 dollars for the battery... no too much..
Peace
I wanna get a extended batterie but do you need another backdoor for the battery ?? And also when you got it what did you do ? Like what steps youve been through?
Put battery
Let it drain to 0%
Then charge back to 100%?

Are you sure the battery temp actually works?
Does it just stay around 25 deg?
Nop no need a new backcover at all...
And yep never get over 25 degreas.

Does the ROM affect battery life as well? What ROM are you using?
And yes when i recieve the saner battery i used ut immediatly and wait to 0% then charge it all night long. You must do it to calibrate the battery.
Im using Ordroid 3.0.2 sense 4 but i dont think it affect à lot on the battery life... Im pretty sure its not... Just a bit.. à tiny bit.

Starting last night, my battery is getting destroyed when the phone is not in use. I haven't installed anything new, apps included. Running Cleanrom 4.5 DE.

Nothing coming up on BBS. That drop was when I was sleeping. Looks like a 25% drop in the span of minutes. Same thing happened today. Went from fully charged to 90% to 59% in an hour or so of no use. And from the looks of battery usage, it was pretty much just Wifi, Network and screen. Nothing else.
Not sure what is going on really.
something is holding a wakelock during that time, at least that's what I gathered from the picture.

Oddly, the highest wakelock was 5minutes. Didn't have any severe wakelocks. Not sure what exactly would cause a 25-30% drop.
Whole thread on this that I have been apart of. The OP actually has two issues but his second one if this issue and the one that is mostly covered in the thread. Only happens at night. Can't figure out what is causing it. I let AT&T know but they haven't gotten back to me. HTC tried to blame it on facebook. Seems like a handful of people are noticing it. Most wouldn't because they charge their phone at night.

Went through the thread, seems similar but less extreme drop for me. I'm in Queens, NY.
Today my phone is fine... And Friday I had close to 24 hours on battery with around 3 hours screen time and 35% left.
The drop last night was from using the phone, not idle.
Hi, Is there any full proof method of fixing my phone battery so it shuts off at 0%?
My bacon shuts down at 8% - 4% usually.
and when it does shut down it blacks out. I don't get that pop up with a spinning circle saying you're phone is not shutting off.
Well, unless thats how the OPO shuts off by just immediately blacking out?
I checked to see if it was because my undervolt, so i brought back the voltages to stock, and unfortunately, the problem still remained.
I know you arent suppose to run these batteries dry, but it just irritates me that it would shut down at the 8% mark.
So any suggestions and fixes would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

If you know that, then why the hell would you want to do it just so that you damage the non-replacable battery and potentially leave yourself with a brick?

The battery percentage displayed on your phone isn't exact, not at all, it's only an estimate based on the voltage level it's detecting at the battery. So if your phone shuts down at 4% it really isn't a big deal. If it's bugging you so much you can use a battery calibration app from the Play Store to try to re-calibrate the battery.
But, if you're letting the device get that low regularly, which it seems like you are, you're damaging the battery. You even admit that you're aware of this. So why do it? Running a lithium battery down regularly decreases its capacity, just like keeping it at peak voltage too much does too. So it's entirely possible that what you're experiencing is a symptom of your own bad battery usage behavior.

Gee, I don't know
Maybe I like to see a full screen on time, testing kernels and roms?
or maybe, I didn't expect my phone to shut down at 8%, so I wanted to see if it wasn't just a one time thing because the unknown piques human curiosity
Maybe as a newer model phone, I'm putting some faith into solid build materials from the phone?
My nexus 4 has been run down many times naturally being at school or work and what not, and the battery still runs like a champ.
Useful sentiments here
So, here's my issue. Original cable N brick, charges almost nothing. Putting the brick N cable into my old not fast charging supported phone gives 1200 mA.
Unbelievable N here almost nothing.

I have the same issue for like 2 months now. It comes and goes on its own. But when it does come, it messes my life up. Like today, it came back. It took my phone 7 HOURS to go from 30% to 64%.
Have you by any chance resolved it? If so, can you elaborate, please?

No I didn't,it works once a while then It turned to **** more often. I even bought another cable ( always same) it's Very strange . I decided to use it jow as 2nd phone only ,it's a pity because I like Poco all the way but charge all day is useless. It's either software related or something is wrong with the charging port ( but I cleaned a million times with a toothpick and even used a blower but it still doesn't work reliable. So I gave up on it. Wish you more luck!
12.5 update causing this... My phone stop charging at 90 percent... Only way to get it full charge to 100% is by plugged it to USB desktop...
I'm having the exact same problems. My original lead that came with the phone I can get to use fast charge fine but any other lead I've used just refuses to charge at a reasonable level at all. Last week I bought another official Xiaomi lead, the exact same as what I've got now. First few hours it was charging up very well indeed but next day barely anything.
This is incredibly frustrating because I know I can get fast charge to work but the lead I got originally with the phone is falling apart now. Honestly have no idea how to solve this.
