CWM restore - MD5 mismatch (XBSA ICS 5.2) - LG Optimus 3D

Hi everybody!
I'm on my learning curve with "brand new" o3D - xbsa ics
I love it.
Yesterday I installed CWM 6.0.1.5 using dexter's guide (fastboot etc). Now I have nice touch recovery.
Just to check I did system backup. Then I tried to restore it. And got message:
E: Invalid command argument
and then
MD5 checksum mismatch
Any ideas why? And more important - how to get it work? CWM without restore is pretty useless...
I tried renaming backup to one word without spaces etc - didn't help... And I don't see md5 file in backup folder...
Thanks in advance!

With ICS i never used CWM, so far with TWRP Recovery never had that issue.

Same problem here, I have a cwm backup I want to restore, but always get a md5 mismatch error, anyone got this one solved?

latest version of cmw 6.x has a lot of bugs... try restoring with cwm 5.x and you should be allright.

[Q] Converting CWM backup to flash zip ??

Hi everyone! I aware that maybe this is a stupid question, but i have to ask...Is there a way to convert a CWM backup to a flash zip to use with the CWM install zip option??? I'm asking this because I have a particular problem and is that I can't do backups or restore with my CWM so i can't install almost any custom rom that is in the developers forum.
I don't know why i have this problem, even I posted a thread asking for help about this, but I guess I'm the only one experiencing this issue and the only rom I successfully installed is the Victory Rom and is a flashing zip.
By the way I installed the CWM with the Atrix Bootstrap and I applied the patch RAZR-CWMOnBoot-Global-J.Y.Daddy.zip to have the CWM on every boot and I don't experience any GPS issue (I guess i don't know exactly what is the issue) and for the record when I'm trying to do a CWM backup i get the "check sum error" when the CWM tried to finish the backup process, and when i'm attemping to restore a backup the CWM starts without problem but then I get the "Error while restoring /system".
I hope you can helpme with this problem.
Thank's in advanced.

after you apply the atrix bootstrap use rom manager and install the recovery for the droid bionic and you will be able to back up and restore roms. advance restore also works incase you do a wipe, install a rom, and then want your data restored.

You could convert it... but you would have to write an updater-script, and get an updater-binary (you can basically steal it from any flashable zip.)

Should I remove the patch for CWM on every boot? Or i just download the recovery with rom manager ?

Well I tried this with no success , I installed the recovery for the droid bionic and then I reboot into recovery with rom manager and make a cwm backup, the result was an error when generating the md5Sum and my battery went from 60% to 3%, that kinda surprise me it's the second time that happens, the first time was when i was updating from stock 2.3.5 to 2.3.6.
Worth the shot i guess but until i can fix this i guess i'm screwed :'( .

That is an interesting point because everything I've done, the rooted, the atrix bootstrap recovery and the CWM on boot patch has been with version stock rom 2.3.6 I never tried do it with the 2.3.5 so i guess i'll be downgrading tonigth to stock 2.3.5.
thank's, when i'm done i will inform of my result.
cheers.

Follow what he said and you will be ok. I've messed this phone up more times than i can count trying to mod and theme stuff and the fkz is a life saver.

It works!!!! it was the stock 2.3.6 update that was stopping me from backup or restore in CWM maybe it changes something in the bootloader that screw the CWM, but now i'm testing the Lithium rom 1.2 . Thank you all for your help and tips.

Sorry for bringing this up again but I need the answer to the
original question on converting a CWM backup to flashable zip...
my question:
My CWM Backup consistes of 7 files:
boot.img
recovery.img
system.yaffs2.img
data.yaffs2.img
cache.yaffs2.img
nandroid.md5
.android_secure.vfat.tar
my guess is that the first two go directly into the update.zip
then What about the other three yaffs2 files and the .android_secure.vfat.tar file
how are they extracted/combined into the zip file??
ps.about the updater-script and updater-binary, can I take them both from any flashable zip?

Its possible, I have done it, and the only foders you need are system and data...
It will be a pain, tho, your gonna wanna do it through Linux, updater script needs to have the right commands in it to do this, so its def not a drag and drop process, even tho some of it is..

all you need to do is use unyaffs on the system.img and optionally data.img and if will unarchive them, then back it into a zip with the boot.img and build the updater-script!

[Q] ClockWorkMod recovery "Error while restoring /system!"

Well i am new to android custom ROM i was using my official gingerbread 2.3.6, I rooted my samsung galaxy ace and installed Clock work mod Recovery v5.0.2.6
I took the complete back up of my android os using it with reference to some youtube tutorials. Everything went fine and it showed backup sucessfully created like in the video. I even could install a custom ROM and run it on my phone.
When i started to restore from my backup ... during the time when it is restoring system , after a while it shows the error "Error while restoring /system!"
can anyone help me out to get my official copy of gingerbread back....??
Any HELP is appreciated....!!!!
Thank you in advance...
You can only use CWM to restore the system image for the Rom you're currently on. You need to flash back to GB and then use your nandroid to restore your setup.
Did you installed ICS firmware? Because gingerbeard can't run on ICS firmware
Hey thanks for the help.....
i got the problem fixed by installing gingerbread os first and then recovered from clockwork mod recovery......
Now i have all my files and same os that i have backed up!!!
Is it so that you cant resotre a ICS backup when current roms is Jelly Bean?

I found this with both JB and GB ROMs trying to restore ICS but the problem is resolved the way previous posters have stated install rom of correct android version then restore.. or else your bricked.. and its akward being bricked in greece on holiday with no computer...
Ok, then I have to look for a ARHD 4.1.0 version. (android 4.0.4).
somebody can help me?

I am having the same error. On Lollipop custom rom, trying to restore Kitkat CWM backup. Then, i get error while restoring /system. So, I flash the same custom kitkat rom, where my backup is based on. Reboot and went through initial rom setup and confirmed it's running Kitkat and same firmware as the CWM backup I was trying to restore. Reboot in Philz CWM and proceed to restoring that back up and i am having the exact same error (error while restoring /system!). I checked on the CWM log, it says "tar: invalid tar magic". Does anyone have any idea?

[Q] MD5 mismatch on fresh cyanogenmod9

Hello, i'm new to flashing roms. I have downloaded cyanogen 9 for sgs2. I had alot of trouble flashing my device as I kept getting md5 mismatch. Eventually I got it to work by using clockworkmod and flashing from the device (not in recovery mode). However I reverted back to my original rom which came with my sgs2. I attempted once again to flash cyanogenmod 9 and still get the md5 mismatch. I cannot flash it from the clockworkmod application either, when my phone boots up I get an error:
E: cant open /sdcard/external_sd/cm-9.1.0-galaxys2.zip
(no such file or directory)
Installation aborted
I really like the look of this mod, but i'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Elsewhere on the internet it seems people who have problems with the md5 mismatch have made a mistake backing up a previous flash. But I'm using a fresh untouched cyanogenmod 9.
Hope i've been clear enough.
[sgs2 i9100]

Well, its all sorted now. It seems I was going about the flash all WRONG! I was initially using the 'restore' function to flash a clean new rom (so ovcourse the restore process would not find an md5 because one had not been generated!)
If anybody has difficulty and is noobish like me you need to boot into CWM and then browse to 'install zip from sd' or wherever your rom is, and just install it. Kinda obvious now

[Q] md5sum mismatch

i backed up my gingerbread rom using cwm recovery. and when i m trying to restore it now, it says md5sum mismatch ! what should i do ? why is it showing this ? how to restore my backed up rom ?

Broke a boostmobile one sv won't boot now

I got a boost mobile one sv for my pop on boost mobile.
the fonts were too small and there did not seem a way to pick larger for him. so I installed font installer and installed a couple fonts alas on reboot I am stuck at the boost logo.
(the phone is rooted)
its not looping it just won't finish boot up. I booted into recovery wiped cache dalvik factory reset NO joy
any suggestions? is there a Jellybean rom without sense ie stock android (or heck with sense at this point) I can safely flash over?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
No stock Android around. I have made a stock odexed JB rom from a boost backup.
For flashing in recovery.
But it is untested as i don't own a boost phone. So you can call it a beta rom!!!
So if you want to try, i can give you the link. But for reasons above, on your own risk.
can't hurt to try so post away.
what is the most reliable "known good" jb rom as well Might as well download that too.
There is atm only one jb rom, but with some things buggy.
I'll send you the link by pm. If it works for you, i'll make it public.
downloading now. will let you know if it works or not. the phone was running ICS does that make a difference to installing this rom? can I just goto CWM recovery and install from zip ?
will not install. clockwork says error expects 3args, got 4 status 7 aborted
Ok, not good for the rom. If you wipe everything it would not matter, if you had ICS before.
So, here is another JB way: look into this thread here.
There you will find a cwm backup. Download and try to restore. Make sure, it is in the right place/folder.
Good luck.
no joy. says error while restoring boot img
I tried advanced restore system (figure do them one at a time) same thing just says error while restoring /system!
suggestions?

Did you ever get it resolved? If so, I am curious as to what procedures you needed to take? I have not had any trouble with Font Installer myself butiincase the time comes the info would be valuable as a plan a, b, c, etc. Thanks.
