Hello, I have a question about SIM Unlock and nv_data.bin.
First, sorry for my English
I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 I buyed to Vodafone Spain. The phone came locked by the carrier, and with Android 2.1. When the 2.2 roms began to be available to other carriers I flashed them with ODIN, so now, I have the latest version from Spain FOP (not Vodafone). I have never rooted the phone, or unlocked bootloader or anything else. Then only I have done is flashing the phone by ODIN and wipe it to factory reset.
The problem I have now is that I want to sim unlock it to use in other carrier. So I buyed a code (with the phone IMEI and the model(i5800)) to a code seller. I have buyed codes in this web for other phones (Nokia, Huawei and Sony Ericsson) and always the code have worked perfect on the phone, unlocking it perfectly. So I purchased the code for my i5800, but the problem is that the code they gave to me (8 numbers), doesn´t work, it says code invalid.
I have contacted with the seller but at the moment, they have no replied me. So, I found a tutorial in internet that says that if I extract nvdata.bin from the phone, I could get the code with a Windows app called Samsung Galaxy S Code Extractor(or something like that), so I decided to get the code by this method, since this method doesn´t require to alter system o root or anything, only extract a file by ADB
The problem is this method didn´t give me any code, is like nv_data.bin have losed the code in my phone.
So, my question is, if my nv_data.bin have losed the code, can it be the reason the code I buyed doesn´t work? I means, when I introduce the code in my phone, does it compare the code with the code inside nv_data.bin?? or have nothing to do?
Thanks in advance
i apologize for the long post

For my bad luck vodafone smart 2:
Initially got SIM unlock code from vodafone, used that code to unlock my phone (smart 2) successfully. Later the phone had system crash problem, sent it to repair, engineer reload the whole system and fixed the system crash. But the phone is locked again. Tried the unlock code again, it is not working any more.
The code is also confirmed by vodafone as correct.
Does anyone here know what is going on with the phone. What I need to do to unlock the phone...
Thank you
Jason

I recently purchased a samsung galaxy s6, locked to Bell Mobility (my sim is rogers). I bought my unlock code through onemanwireless, but I made a very stupid mistake and followed the instructions for t-mobile phones and installed the factory firmware found here, http://onemanwireless.com/TMobile_Galaxy_S6_Edge_unlock.htm. After I realized my mistake I reinstalled the factory firmware for Bell, which I found on this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/sm-g925f-s6-firmware-thread-t3078841.
However, the unlock code was still unsuccessful, so I followed the other three solutions found on onemanwireless, http://onemanwireless.com/instructions.php#samsung.
When I dialed *#197328640#, I was in the debugging screen, but I didn't have the eight option for phone control.
When I dialed *2767*3855# and *7465625*638*#, nothing happened.
I've checked the IMEI and it's the correct one for my s6. Also, I have installed root checker basic, and it tells me root access is not prorperly installed on the device. I've already gotten the network code incorrect eight times, so I want to know if I'm limited to a specific number of tries before my phone cannot be unlocked again?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Sooo,
I bought a used vodafone moto g 1st gen naively expecting to have an easy sim-unlock available in the forums - maybe I haven't found it yet?
The online unlock code vendors I tried have refunded me saying they can't do my IMEI so I'm a bit stuck.
I flashed cyanogen hoping a new kernel would do the magic but I guess the simlock is in a different partition?
I see that a couple years ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2903823 some were considering how the sim unlock modified the utag partitions. Does anyone know of further progress, information or solutions to sim unlock a moto g?
Or has anyone found a vendor that has successfully provided a UK vodafone sim unlock code?
P.S. Will I need to revert to the stock rom and kernel to use a sim unlock code?
The official Vodafone UK unlock service should work: https://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/forms/unlock-code-request/
Thanks Professor Gibbins.
Unfortunately the Vodafone unlock process asks for the vodafone number that has been used with the phone. Perhaps it would work if I got a pay-as-you go SIM from them and then provided that number.
Fortunately I tried paying a third unlock code vendor - sim-unlock*.net - waited a couple days and they came through with a valid code. I had started with the cheapest ebay vendors, so maybe they just weren't legit?
In any case, if someone else is in similar circumstances, here's what I learned:
There doesn't seem to be any other solution for sim unlocking the moto G xt1032 than purchasing an unlock code from an online vendor or, in the case of you being the original owner, from the network you purchased the phone from
Having a couple online vendors say they cannot get you the code does not mean another cannot
Neither unlocking the bootloader, installing a different recovery (TWRP), nor flashing a Cyanogen ROM will help Sim unlock the phone
The code provided by the online vendor did not work when I had Cyanogen installed. Fortunately I had created a backup of the vodafone ROM (using TWRP) and restoring their android version/kernel allowed the code purchased online to sim unlock the phone
Finally, the SIM unlock done in the vodafone system was maintained after restoring my Cyanogen install. I hope this means the sim/network lock will not return. It might perhaps resurface if I did a system restore; hopefully then the same unlock code would work again?

Once the unlock is done via an UNLOCK CODE, or via hardware unlocking tools, then it is permanent, so you shouldn't need to worry about this at all, but that said, in case you experience SIM un-/lock issues, then reuse the code when trying to unlock the phone on an OEM-DISTRIBUTED ROM (stock ROM).
Hello!
I have this problem - I had unlocked my o2 Galaxy S6 back in March when I was in Poland (code from o2), and used Plus Pre-Pay Sim when I was there. Everything was good and cool. Now, I am trying to put in a Virgin SIM into my phone here in the UK but the phone comes up with Network Unlock Code. So I first tried to use my code from March, didn't work. I have contacted o2 and received the same code again and it didn't work. I have tried different methods to no avail
What the hell is going on here?
Please help
Regards
Probably unlock code is wrong or you need unfreeze code
