I just got a replacement HTC One from Tmo and have been debating on whether to root or not. I haven't upgraded to the jb yet and my biggest issue with my last One S was the loss of Wifi. I tried to downgrade the hboot but that only ever caused problems. Does anyone know if the JB update from tmo and rooting doesn't cause the wifi issues. Or if anyone can help me with these issues id greatly appreciate it
Don't think the jb ota has been released in the states..at least not in Texas

I don't know if the JB update from Tmo is different from the WWE which I have installed, but the first thing I did when it came out was to revert my One S to stock ICS and stock recovery and fetch the JB update. Afterwards I rooted it. I've never had any problems with wifi, but my One S is unbrandeded and I really don't know what Tmo implement in their roms.
Well from what I've for to understand when you updated with tmo ota for ics is changed the hboot. And I couldn't downgradeit back

does anyone know if we will still be able to update via OTA means if we unlock bootloaders,root,s-off etc.... on sony ericsson phones they cant update if they unlock bootloaders.
sorry if this was already answered i didnt find it..... :/
No, not if you're not using the stock rom.
Custom roms will always be updated faster than stock OTA updates.
so when the official ics is released if i reflash stock rom i will be fine when updating?

You'd have to be on the stock rom and stock recovery. So you might aswell run the RUU for your phone and you'll be good to go.

Stock RUU.......
Seems the stock ROM's aren't perfect. Take a chance......
When the ics ota comes out it will likely have a new bootloader which revolutionary won't like. Htcdev should work

Hello when looking at the minimum requirements for the OTA I saw that my software version on my phone is older then the needed to get the upgrade. So far no OTA notification and manual check fails every time. Any help on what I should do?

Root it and enjoy. There's an HTC One X thread about routing without unlocking the boatloader, but it doesn't work on the latest ota update.

I don't know what software version you have, doesn't match any of these. I would take it to a TMO store and say WTF?
It's just super weird. I never altered the software or anything. It just came like this which messes with my ability to update.

Don't even try to touch the new update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The replacement phones, and very few initially shipped phones come with 0.15 baseband.
Those devices won't update to the new OTA. You have to first find the TMOUSS RUU for 0.16 in the development section and run it. Then when your baseband is updated to 0.16 you will be able to update to the new OTA.
edit - at least this is what happened with me. maybe it works on someone else's.

What software number does your phone say it is on? If it has the R2 in it I don't think you'll be able to get the update. It's different than stock. Stock doesn't have the R2 in it.

Here is what you need to do To get a working TMOUS OTA, make sure you have CWM, wipe cache-partition-dalvik-battery...
Install the Radio from OTA_Ville_U_TMOUS_1.84.531.2 from here...
http://ville.giev.de/?page_id=42
then install the new Nandroid of Stock TMOUS 1.84 Rooted from here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698861
that should do it and fixed data connection and speed on my HTC ONE S below is a prove...
So I just got this phone 2 weeks ago. I am familiar with rooting and running a custom ROM. I want CM10 Jelly Bean. From what I've been reading on here though is that there's no secure method of doing so with this update installed. Can anyone advise me, or point me in the direction to achieve this properly and safely?

If you are on 2.2 and you never unlocked the bootloader you're stuck until a way to root 2.20 is found.
Even if you do get rooted and bootloader unlocked, you won't get LTE. There's some weird bug where LTE breaks if you flash from 4.0.4. You need to flash from 4.0.3 or earlier to get LTE.

Hello,
My HTC One X is running android 4.0.3. I notice that Jelly Bean came out today and I never got the OTA for the 4.0.4. When I go to AT&T Sfotware Update, and it searches and goes back to the Check for Updates button. Is there any way I can update it without doing a factory reset?
Thanks for your help!
Don't update, supercid + ota = brick
P.S. Why would you want the att update? It will still be crappies than a custom rom.
Also, jelly bean is 4.1+

No, I'm saying the I am still on 4.0.3. I never got the 4.0.4 update. Any help would be nice. Thanks.

Do the 2.20 ruu then do the ota
So the only way to get 4.0.4 is through computer, right?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
If it's not shwoing up on your phone then yes you have to manually do it..but I suggest you root and flash the stock rooted ota but if not I'd be happy to help you ruu to 2.20
I've bought a new T-Mobile HTC One S recently and after installing bootloader and rooting it, I've noticed that the phone came with 4.0.4 and not 4.1.1.
Will the phone preform better with 4.1.1? Would I have to do all the bootloader unlocking and the rooting?
You can either:
A. unroot and the OTA update
B. since you are already rooted, make a Nandroid backup and flash a Sense based ROM such as Viper (android 4.1.1)
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the tip about Viper. still haven't got to check out the current available ROM's.
I was just wondering if there are major problems with the stock 4.1.1 like with the battery on the previous update.
Its better overall in my opinion. Only prob for me is that the audio pops when you play it for the first time in recently inserted headphones. Other than that, smoother and better. Don't know about battery
